Okay, don't laugh, but I get a lump in my throat every time I hear "New Orleans," especially the line "...we forgive... at least we try." It's classic Stevie- a very simple line that resonates very, very deeply.

4) Oh gosh. Most of them, it seems.

Storms, first and foremost, forever and always. The opening guitar used to make me tear up on command.
Silver Springs.
It's Only Love.
Love Is (live)
For What It's Worth (live)
Sara (Always)
Beautiful Child
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
Goodbye Baby
Planets of the Universe piano demo "If I had my life to live over, I would never dream..." nooooo
Gypsy piano demo
Rhiannon piano demos
Landslide
When I See You Again
Crystal

But those are just the usuals. Any of them are subject to, depending on how I'm feeling or how I hear a certain line. This is especially true with live performances, if something is articulated differently or what not.

A fair few:

Sara (a great many times)
Gypsy (the 'she is dancing away from you now, She was just a wish' line gets me a fair few times)
Beautiful Child
Landslide
For What It's Worth
Outside The Rain
Dreams
How Still My Love

Depending on my mood, any of the following can:

Storms
Sara (especially live Tusk-era)
Beautiful Child
China Doll (demo)
Gypsy (acoustic with Lindsey at the AHI benefit)

Not to say I haven't been moved by most of her songs, but the only one that has brought me to tears has been The Dance performance of Landslide. I played this song a lot when my mother was in the hospital last year.

#2: I can't pick just one. I couldn't pick just ten. LOL.

#3: My first time seeing Stevie live was the Tango tour. It was in Pittsburgh in fall of 87. I remember because I had just started college at Slippery Rock University (yes, there really is such a place) and some friends were going and invited me along. I was so thrilled. I didn't know that Lindsay had left the band until we were sitting there looking at the programs wondering who these other two guys were. Ah, life before the internet. LOL! I was absolutely captivated by Stevie. She sang Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, and at the time I didn't really like ballads so I always skipped it on Rock A Little but once I heard her sing it live I totally fell in love with it. The one thing from that show that really stood out was that during the encore (I think it was Don't Stop) someone was throwing a frisbee around and it landed on stage. Stevie looked down at it for a second, then picked it up and threw it right back. And there was something so real and so human about her doing that and it really just made me love her all the more.

#4: Out of all her songs that make me cry from time to time it's Rose Garden that gets me nearly every time. When she sings "I've got all these things but a small gold band... on my finger... on my left hand" I always tear up. It's something about the way the music swells right at that point and especially the lyrics. It's the idea of this girl having passed up the one true love of her life for what she thought was going to be something better. And the fact that as a gay man I'm still fighting for my rights to someday legally marry the man of my dreams (when I finally meet him) and that we could have this entire life together and everything that comes with it... except for that small gold band (figuratively, of course). That line holds so much meaning for me and it chokes me up every time.

Oh my gosh......."Love IS" for me! At the time SYW came out and my life was in the pits, used to listen to this song and just bawl! It still has that effect, because like Stevie says when she is singing a particular song she goes back to that moment in time, I too go back to that moment and a flood of tears ensues!

Sara is another one that gets to me. My favorite is Melborne from the Tusk tour (79 or 80, not sure). For me it's the way she sings "Sara" right after the "all I ever wanted". It sounds like she's crying, totally wailing her heart out. What is it about the San Jose one that gets to you.

A few "live" Landslide performances over the years. During The TimeSpace tour & BTM tour with the Mac - these particular performances Stevie was moved to tears during the song and so choked up it was all she could do to finish her performance.

Hearing "Love Is" live the 1st time this year in Vegas was emotional.

The 1st time I heard "When I See You Again", I was moved by the intensity and rawness coming through her voice, knowing what she had just been through (rehab & nearly dying while on the RAL tour) "What's the matter Baby" - I just wanted to give her a big warm HUG!

And finally, the most stirring and powerful was being at Stevie's AHI concert in Sept. 2000 in Phoenix, witnessing Lindsey & Stevie perform a heartfelt & the most beautiful acoustic rendition of "Gypsy" ever!!!! It's my opinion that this is the only way "Gypsy" should ever be performed in concert. Why they have not done this again is BEYOND me. The crowd went nuts!

Ok, I can't believe someone else said "Sometimes It's A Bitch"! That has made me cry too! Because Stevie didn't write it, and because of the things she's said about not liking it, I tried not to like it out of loyalty, but I just really do like it anyway. A variety of Stevie songs can make me cry, but Sara and Gypsy are the other most frequent ones.

#4...

Not many Stevie songs make me cry, but there have been a few that are memorable. It depends on the circumstances of my life at the time; I mean, the songs that could bring tears then, don't necessarily do so now.

Beauty And The Beast. Hearing the song as though I were the narrator, and realizing that I was in - in this particular case - the Beast, was painful. "I've changed!" said Stevie, and I to him- but it was too late. The damage was done.

Seven Wonders. I always pick this as the song that I feel I most relate to. It's a shame it wasn't written by Stevie. The meaning for me is so personal - but I'll say that I believe very much in fate, karma - and reincarnation. Some things seem so ,well, meant to be - and yet can never be. And you both have to walk away. "well it might work out someday..." Or, maybe you've been there and done that, and it's just a sense of familiarity, left over from before? I don't know. But a very special person once said to me upon departing: "See you in the next one." I'm absolutely certain that I will.

And the people saying Love Is, especially when performed live - totally. Stevie wiped me on the floor with that song this year at Red Rocks. I was disoriented for a while afterwards.

Italian Summer. Yeah, and I'm not embarrassed about it either. I spent a week in Italy last September -like right now, a year ago- and it was the greatest time of my adult life. Our last night, there was this HUGE storm and the wind and the rain were enough to take your breath away. The song takes me there, instantly. They're good tears, though.
