Just got back. The rain held off for most of the show, but it started to rain ever so slightly towards the end. And the wind has picked up a little bit now, but it's still nothing out of the ordinary for a rainstorm. Anyway, a few observations:
-Stevie was in
good voice tonight! I mean, she always sounds good these days, but I thought she sounded exceptional tonight.
-Stevie called the crowd "really dedicated fans" and then cried out "let's get the hurricane party started!" Every time the wind kicked up a little, she would say "Irene?" "Irene?" She seemed to be in an extraordinarily silly mood and very smiley. I'm not going to say she toked before the show, but...
-She dedicated "Landslide" to a woman named Paula in the audience who was currently battling cancer.
-There was an announcement on the loudspeakers before the show that Stevie has requested that nobody photograph, video or record any part of the show. And throughout the show, the guards- some of the friendliest guards I have ever seen, by the way, were pretty strict about enforcing it. I really didn't see anyone using their cameras during the show. That being said, after the Edge walk, I video'd "Love Is" from the stage, which I shall upload if the paltry wifi here can handle it. I think Voyager II gets a stronger signal in deep space.
-Unfortunately the new outfit debuted on GMA did not make a reappearance.
-The Bethel Woods site is
gorgeous. I have never seen a concert setting so immaculately manicured and landscaped. It has beautiful views of the Catskills and is full of stone buildings and white tents. Oh, and plenty of vegan/vegetarian fare! Probably one of the nicest, most civilized concert experiences I've ever had. But the guard rail in front of the front row is a BIG drawback IMHO.
Looking forward to Boston!!!!!
