That review is mindless. Stevie didn't miss notes... like Dreams and Rhiannon and all the other songs she no longer has the range for, she sings it differently on purpose. Not to mention, that she's never sung it note-for-note like the album version, even back in 1981.

Anyone with any sort of musical ear can hear when someone is singing a lower part that is in harmony/fits with the song, rather than missing notes and singing out of tune. This guy clearly can't hear the difference, so why is he critiquing a musical performance.

I think if they did not waste air time with the Smufs promos. She could of sing the complete versions.

Ok.again most reviewers or critics dont do their research on the artists they are reviewing. They are just giving their opinion on the artist. And he's probably not a fan either. She did awesome.

My thoughts (rambling today):

FWIW
-So unbelievably happy she did this instead of SL! It's only natural being that it's the next single and Secret Love was getting so tired honey! Now, on that note, I thought I liked this song more after seeing it performed at The Wiltern but quite frankly I'm back to not liking it. I just don't think it's that great of a song and please don't slam me. I guess it comes down to the fact that it's just too country for my taste. I would think that people who had never heard this song and were hearing it for the first time last night would not give the song itself a thumbs up. Her performance, yes, but the song, no. Just my opinion.
-The girls' voices were drowning her out a bit and I didn't like it.
-I'm convinced now she's wearing the glove thingies to hide her aging hands, especially on national T.V.
-My God, she looked and sounded fabulous! Mama's still got it!
-I turned the T.V. on the second this song came on but the entire performance my phone was ringing with people calling to tell me Stevie was on the tube so it kind of ruined it for me. Gosh people, don't you think I KNOW!!
-I'm digging the fewer hand gestures and loved the ones she did.
-I kept thinking she was going to say, "packed up my ass" instead of stuff.

EDGE
-Holy mama drama, you killed it girl!! No way possible it was better than The Wiltern (nothing could top that) but definitely one of her best T.V. performances as of late and the fact that she even did Edge is a monumental moment in and of itself.
-I know some of you love the fact that Sharon got her moment in the spotlight and I suppose she deserves it but it's not a duet and was totally over-powering Stevie at some points. Not cool.
- There were several close-ups of Stevie's face where I swear it was the exact same look and expression she had for the 1981 HBO show. Same face, OMG.
- I was screaming in my apt. when I heard the opening riff.
- At one point they showed Stevie's butt and it kinda looked big but I think that was just the long shirt in back.
- She could have done a tiny edge walk and shook each of the judge's hands.
- It didn't bother me so much that it was dramatically shortened. That's par for the course on a T.V. show and to be expected.

This. She was totally on key for the entire thing. She may not sound exactly like the album version. But that was 30 years ago!! I personally think this may have been one of my favorite performances of this song yet. This reviewer does not know what he is talking about .

Stevie Nicks rasps through 'Edge of Seventeen' on 'America's Got Talent': Watch it here
by Jeff Labrecque
Categories: Divas!, Rock, Stevie Nicks, Television, Things That Bum Us Out

Stevie Nicks is having a pretty big week.

That episode of South Park that sets its closing montage to Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” was on again last night, and she hit the stage with the men of Maroon 5 for a run through of “Leather and Lace” on Monday. Then she made another live appearance on Wednesday, strolling out onto the America’s Got Talent set and plowing through her undisputed classic “Edge of Seventeen.”

Since America’s Got Talent has been doing crazy ratings numbers, you probably went ahead and watched this live. But just in case you didn’t, feast your eyes on Stevie and her witchcraft after the jump:

Nicks starts out pretty strong, and the crowd certainly seems into it (mostly because “Edge of Seventeen” is a fantastically intense song with a killer hook), but there are an awful lot of missed notes in there. Though she looks great and performs with confidence, she’s pretty much blown off the stage by her back-up singers.

While a little bit of rasp is usually good for a song as cutting as “Edge of Seventeen,” Nicks sounds like she’s been smoking two packs of Camels simultaneously through the exhaust pipe of a Lincoln Continental. And let’s face it, that’s too much rasp.

But what do you think? Should we cut Stevie some slack because she’s a bona fide legend, or should she stick to making cameos in videos starring Beyoncé? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
I agree with this part, to an extent.

Mama's got booty. She should embrace it.

These two performances will go down in Stevie History as some of her finest TV appearances ever. She nailed FWIW, especially by editing it to a point where it almost seems too short. The album version is too long to work as a single so Reprise were wise to edit it for the single release but last night's version truly blew me away. So great that the girls added harmonies during the first chorus already instead of the second like on the album!

I did notice that the backup vocals were just as loud if not louder that the main vocal. I suppose that was a sound/mixing decision. Part of it depends on what the performing artists wants and what the intention is..

I do sound at my church so I now a little about sound mixing, etc.

It's so true about her expression. I notice that sometimes even now, at 63, at certain moments, she has the exact same expression and seemingly same face as she did many years ago. It happened on Ellen, when she was speaking and then kinda cracked up and look down...was exactly the same mannerism as she had in several old interviews from the WH era. Stevie is truly timeless and at times, ageless.

I loved her performances but I unfortunately feel FWIW was not the best choice for the second single. Annabel Lee or Moonlight would have been much more solid. I do however think Secret Love was a very smart first single. She needs Ghosts Are Gone as a single to give her the excuse to perform it live and you know mama would knock that out of Simon Cowell's park

I agree, FWIW sounds like a song you'd hear on a old country radio station format. There's no way top 40 (AC) will play this song! It's to bad but true. Moonlight needs to be a single FO SURE!

Thumbs up Just watched

& OMG, Edge was really good. She was so animated & oh, the kick!

Not a big For What It's Worth fan, but at this point, I'll take anything over Secret Love.

Thanks for posting the videos.

Going to record Leno tonight.

How sweet of Mike Campbell to play on FWIW. Loved the gold mesh gloves and the new (?) outfit.
