This has been circulating around Tumblr. Someone messaged me and asked me to post it on the Ledge, and I thought it was a good idea! Credit goes to Marissa (LikeAWillow) for writing the questions.

There are thirty questions, and I'll post one a day for the next month. Anyone who wants to participate can answer that question on that day, and the next day, we'll move on to the next question. I love Stevie related surveys but I hate reading so many answers at one time! This solves that problem, and we can also have more in-depth conversations about each question.

QUESTION #1: The song that drew you in. You always remember your first!

QUESTION #1:

“Silver Springs.” I heard it for the first time when The Dance came out when I was five years old. It changed everything for me… I was moved to tears and had no idea why. When I found out Stevie wrote all of her songs herself, I wrote my first “song” on a crappy little ukelele. That eventually morphed into poetry. I owe “Silver Springs” for many reasons, one being that it helped me discover my love for writing. That moment also confirmed that I’d be a Stevie fan for life. A close runner-up would be "Rhiannon" which had a similar affect on me.

1. "Over My Head" The song was pretty, poppy and rocky with deep female voices-Chris and Stevie.
2. Dreams- So beautiful- that vocal from a female was so awesome back then.

Question #1:

Seven Wonders.

I was a child of MTV. This song arose when I was beginning to understand what music was all about. It was the first song that stuck in my head with a visual intact. At the time, I didn't know who she (the band) was, but I knew I loved the song and that there was something about her that would draw me in later during my teen years. I always contribute this song as my first taste of Stevie, with Silver Springs being the big bite.

Oddly enough it was silver springs for me too but 25 years earlier I had heard all the songs from the first fleetwood Mac and rumours album but it was when a local radio station here in phoenix started playing the bside silver springs I was officially hooked. I kept calling the station repeatedly to play it Then tusk followed and I was really HOOKED!!!

Nice idea, daniellaaarisen! Edge of Seventeen and Rhiannon. My brother and I always used to sing along to that on the School of Rock soundtrack when we were little, hahaha. He thought the line "white-winged dove" was "one winged girl" :p. I just love the sheer power and emotion of her voice on that song, and that's what drew me in. And Rhiannon was the song that I always skipped to on my dad's copy of the 1988 greatest hits CD when I was younger (before I listened to any other Mac/Stevie material).

The song that began my obsession with FM/Stevie music was the live version of Blue Letter by Buckingham Nicks. I just love the harmonies, and "staaaaay another night!" is my all time favorite part of any song, I think.

Wow, those are my 2 songs too, also in that order! I was a freshman in college though when The Dance came out, but Silver Springs was all over the radio and I loved it! Then when I bought The Dance, I was like "Oh wow, I know a lot of these songs and I never knew who sang them." The Dance version of Rhiannon is still my very favorite version and I remember during that time I used to play it on repeat for hours because it was so fitting for my mood a lot of the time that year. Once I started listening to all the songs Stevie wrote, I couldn't believe I had finally found someone whose music spoke to me the way her's does and felt like there was someone who could understand all the same feelings I've had. I was hooked forever.

I've been working my way through on my tumblr (http://wrapherinvelvet.tumblr.com/), but good idea bringing it here, Danielle. There are a lot of great questions (thanks to Marissa).

For me, it was all Gold Dust Woman. And even now, after several hundred plays too many, that song remains Stevie's essence concentrated into 5:02.

I grew up always liking Stevie and Fleetwood Mac, but the song/performance that made me go "wow" was Silver Springs, when i saw it performed during The Dance in 1997.

Then I REALLY got hooked in when i saw Stevie live at the House of Blues in LA in 1999. It was captivating and I've been under her spell ever since.

Couldn't agree more. I think no song captures who Stevie is as an artist more than "Gold Dust Woman" does... maybe "Rhiannon."

.Gypsy. When I was a little kid I used to sneak out from my bedroom walk down the hallway and peek into the living room for the late night music videos would be showing. From the opening sequence where she spins around in the inside of the crystal ball, to the end bit where she's singing in the rain And wondering through the enchanted forest To the top of the cliff, I was just captivated even as a little kid I thought that she was just magical. I kept looking for more videos hoping the magic lady as I called her would show up, and she continued to, and never disappointed always beautiful and all flowy singing about something that you know she really feels... my heart is warmed that in the year 2011 that same visual and voice showed up about 2 weeks ago in the new video. I love "the magic lady" and always will:angel::thumbsup:

my experience EXACTLY! Gypsy was magic to me. I remember going with my mother to visit my father who was working out of town. We went by bus and I was wearing some radio earphones and I remember my mom kept bumping my shoulder because I could not help but sing when Gypsy came on the radio. The video remains one of my favorite all time videos.

Question #1:

Bella Donna

My 7th grade homeroom teacher brought in some of his cds to play during class. I was browsing through them and found one that said Stevie Nicks Bella Donna. Up until that point, I was unaware that Stevie had a solo career. I told my teacher that I had just recently gotten into Fleetwood Mac and he told me I could go ahead and have the cd.

It sat in my desk cabinet for a couple of months before I decided to put it in one night. From the second I heard Stevie sing the words "my bella donna," I was hooked. Roughly 9 years later and that song is still one of my all-time favorites.

Definitely Rhiannon!:nod: There was something about her even back in the day, 1975, that drew you to her. All the boys wanted to date Stevie and all the girls wanted to be Stevie! The way Stevie has sung Rhiannon throughout the years has been interesting, it's like Rhiannon has grown old w/ her.

I'm a, "Rhiannon" addict.

Thanks Danielle....this is going to be fun!

Rock a Little and The Other Side of the Mirror were my first introduction to my favorite artist. Both albums had heavy airplay on the radio and MTV. You remember when MTV played video's or am I dating myself? It's not my favorite, but Talk to Me was the first song that launched me into my obsession. I immediately began my studies into the Art and History of Stevie Nicks and the Mac. After all these years, Moonlight(LFTM), Gold Dust Women, How Still My Love, Twisted, Storms and Sara are the songs that define her depth to me. She has revealed her soul to us time and time again through her lyrics. The purity of her words are the soundtrack to my deepest, darkest emotions. She is therapy. Ahh...just to even think of the money I wasted on my shrink, pressing play to any Stevie Nick/Fleetwood Mac album offers me more of the inner peace I constantly search for. Thanks Mama...

GOLD DUST WOMAN

It was the year 1977 and Rumours was in full flight. My older sister just graduated high school, and that album was a pivitol soundtrack of her generation. My parents were away, and she was having a big house party (the drinking age then was 18).

The standard sound system of that era was either the radio or a record player. The was a record player at the top of the stairs blaring down into the living room. I remember sitting at the bottom of the stairs, observing the party-goers, listening to the Rumours album. When I heard the eerie wails at the end of Gold Dust Woman ecohoing down the stair well, I was completely mystified. That night I became a life-long, obessive fan of Fleetwood Mac.

Hi everyone...have been reading this forum for years and finally decided to join. My first song was silver springs from dance. I heard it on the radio and did not know who sang it but knew I loved it. Then finally my dad turned on the dance on mtv and said sit down and watch. All of a sudden stevie came on and sang this song...been hooked ever since. Gold Dust Woman from this show really sealed the deal.

Rhiannon was the first but I was so young I didn't know who Stevie was. Stand Back is the first one where I connected Stevie Nicks being the same singer in Fleetwood Mac who sang Rhiannon. So both of those songs I credit for reeling me in.

Gypsy. It wasn't until years later that I found out songs I'd heard in my childhood such as Dreams and Rhiannon were Fleetwood Mac. But all I knew was that this beautiful blond woman dancing through the ages in this incredible video held me captivated. Every since that song came out I would stop and listen any time Stevie was there.

For me, it was Edge of Seventeen.
I remember in 1983 (I was 3 at the time) my mom and I went to a record store in the mall and she said she wanted to get a Stevie Nicks album and so she bought Bella Donna.I had heard her songs before that with FM but didn't realize who sang them until years later. My mom said she liked SDMHA, and later, she use to play the song Bella Donna alot.It wasn't until I first heard EoS that I got hooked.I remember the sound of the guitar keeping time and then Stevie started singing. It was as if she was saying "Well! Let ME tell YOU a story!" And she really belt it out with so much passion that I thought to myself "Man...this chick can rock!" As the years went on, my mom would pull that record out every now and then and I started to appreciate the other songs and they took on new meanings at different times in my life.:)

Great stories!

Gold Dust Woman, for me. 'Rock on, ancient queen' thrilled me and is my Stevie's mantra, her mission, her creative DNA, and there's none better.

I played Rumours to death when I was at high school. I had a white vinyl edition (which I still have) and you can clearly see by all the muck in the grooves which were my favourite tracks!

Trouble In Shangri-La. I bought the album based on the fact that I was really into Sheryl Crow, and had seen Stevie's name all over the liner notes for Sheryl's 'C'mon, C'mon' album. In addition, I was also aware that Stevie had also recorded 'It's Only Love' too. At this point I had no idea about her having been in Fleetwood Mac, although I knew some of their classics despite being unaware of who was in the band.

I bought the 'Trouble In Shangri-La' album, got it home, put it in the CD player and pressed play. Right from the opening bars, I knew I loved this crazy, epic, rambling song. I didn't love anything else on the CD straight away, but quickly got into it, particularly, the first four songs.

What a great idea!

Question One:

When I was about 9 or so, my mom came home with the 1988 Greatest Hits album (on tape, ). Initially, I was drawn to Christine, because her songs were catchy and upbeat. So "Little Lies" was my favorite.

When I started paying more attention to Stevie, "Rhiannon" and "Gypsy" were what captivated me.

Good idea!

My first was also Silver Springs (The Dance) in 1997. I was 14 and was in my room one night flipping through television channels when I happened upon this performance. The chemistry between Stevie & Lindsey during this amazing little gem blew me away (I had presently been deeply involved with my X-Files Shipperdom). I knew nothing of their history and distinctly remember asking my mom during the Clinton campaign/victory, "There's a GUY in Fleetwood Mac?"

I was immediately hooked. My parents thought I was nuts ("Fleetwood Mac is OUR band!"). I spent the rest of my high school days inundating my helpless friends with FM facts, performing my majorette try-out routine to "Gypsy," scouring record stores for anything I could find related to the band, and generally lost in a shipper haze. I've chilled out a bit in that respect, but the chemistry was my initial hook.

In 77 i first heard Dreams playing on the radio, & bought Rumours the next day with my life savings $4.50, i thought Dreams was the most awesome song i had ever heard in my life (at 15 yrs old lol), it was Gold Dust Woman that totally floored me , even back then i knew that no other song could possibly have that same captivating, mystical & chilling effect like GDW, its still such an awesome song.. rock on Ancient queen:angel:

Question 1:

Silver Springs (The Dance): I was in the car w/ my THEN boyfriend and we were fighting like crazy. Well i was boiling mad and he pulled over the car to pee IN PUBLIC and i knew he was only doing that out of spite cause i HATE THAT TACKY ISH! anyhoo...........Silver Springs started playing on the radio and i started crying. I didnt know who sang it, but the words were just so beautiful! i was thinking to myself, yes this guy could be my silver springs, blue green colors flashing if he wasn't so damn dumb!!!! well when he got back in the car he tried to turn the station on the radio and i screamed at him! yes i know you're not supposed to touch a black man's radio but i didnt care!!! i said "don't you dare turn! you could be my silver springs but yo azz is so damn stupid!!!", while the tears were falling. he was like "what the hell r u talking about?" i'm like "i hate you so much right now!!! it's over!!!"

#1: 'Rhiannon' (The Dance). It was November 17th of last year and me and my parents were setting up the Christmas tree. My dad put The Dance cd on, but then him and mom left and it was just me working. I heard the songs in order, The Chain, Dreams and Everywhere. I was really enthralled with this version of The Chain, which made me want to listen to the rest. But once Rhiannon came on, I was awed. I literally had to sit down and just listen. I don't recall ever hearing this song before, although I might have because my dad was a huge FM fan, but I knew there was something special about it. Listening to it now and the thought of hearing it that night gives me goosebumps. It is still my favorite and hopefully always will be.

Rhiannon from the FM Live album. Long story short,my parents fought like crazy while i was growing up,it was probably at it worst when i was a teenager..so about 1997. I was in the basement trying to avoid the chaos and the grabbed the first album i saw and threw it on,having no idea what it was. The moment i heard her voice it saved my life, and became my refuge from all things bad. It was perfect timing because the Dance came out right after...and i was hooked :)

The first song I heard where I knew it was Stevie was 'I Can't Wait'. Of course, later on I figure out plenty of songs I'd heard before that (Edge, Dreams). Still, ICW and then 'Talk To Me' are the ones that made me a fan!!

Question #1

"Landslide" and "Silver Springs" I was roughly 8 when The Dance came out and my mom played "Landslide" and "Silver Springs" ALL the time and I was like "who is this!?!?!" and "stop playing this and play some nsync" lol But idk why but one day it like hit me that these songs are actually good lol So I took the CD and looked at the pictures in the sleeve and I was like "whoa thats Stevie?" I thought she was WICKED hot! I would play The Dance when I'd go to sleep...it helped relax me before bed. So then I raided my moms cd collection and snatched up Timespace and I listened to it and even though Stevie didnt write it "Sometimes Its a Bitch" just SPOKE to me and brought me to tears everytime I heard it....

So thats my story

Question #1

When I was 10, a girl at my dance studio that I really looked up to did her senior recital piece to Landslide. Since my mom was the dance teacher I was at the studio 24/7 and heard the song all the time so I liked it and learned all the words, but I had no clue who it was by or anything like that. Then fast forward, and one day I was looking up choir arrangements to popular music because I was in a singing ensemble, and I came across PS22's page. I watched like all of their videos, including their version of Landslide - and I instantly remembered the song from when I was little. I followed the Youtube trail from there.. mostly I think I clicked to Landslide video from The Dance and I'm pretty sure I watched that for at least a month straight like every single day, over and over. It was kind of ironic that the song would come back to me at the end of my senior year in high school. First of all, because of how well it fits into someones life at that turning point, but also because that's the reason I knew the song as a child - that dancer used it for her graduation piece.

Of course once I got to watching a bunch of different stuff, I recognized most of it, but like a lot of people I'd just never connected it or knew who it was by, etc.

I became obsessed with how much all of the music made sense to me and touched me. I related, even if I hadn't experienced whatever the song was about.... because the songs were presented in a way that made m feel like I did - that's how well Stevie conveyed how she felt, to me. So much that I could hear the emotion through the song and feel like it was me who was going through it right there with her. I guess I kind of lived vicariously through the music.

Anyway, that's that. Here I am.

The song that drew me in was I Can't Wait. I was about to turn 12, and the song played a lot on the radio on the weeks before my birthday. I bought my very first album with money from that birthday - Rock A Little.

Once I started getting into Stevie's music, I realized there were songs from my whole life that I loved - Dreams, Gypsy, Edge. I just had to put the pieces together.

For me it was a case of a long steeping in Nicks songs until finally "Gypsy" was the trigger that made me realize I felt a special affinity for her music and loved it and would always buy it.

1977 - 13 years old
My brother and I bought Rumours when it came out because everyone was buying it. We didn't really know who Fleetwood Mac were. We listened to it a lot. My youngest uncle (only 4 years older than me) commented once, as we were listening to "Dreams", "Her song "Rhiannon" is even better." So I went to find that and ended up buying the Fleetwood Mac album. Between the two albums I tended to like all of Nicks songs, most of Christine's and generally most of Lindsey's. The only songs I didn't care that much for were "World Turning" and "Sugar Daddy".

1979 - 15 years old
I was really excited for Tusk to come out. I imagined a double album something like Rumours II and Rumours III combined. When I first heard "Tusk" on the radio I had the same reaction that the DJ did: Basically "WTF?" I read in Rolling Stone prior to the album release: "Wait till you hear a new Stevie Nicks song called "Sara"..." As soon as the album came out I went and bought it, put on the record player and then sat mystified while it played. Only "Sara" and "Storms" stuck with me that first listen. Eventually more songs did with repeat listenings but it wasn't until many many years later that I came to appreciate this as an album.

1980 - 16
I heard "Fireflies" on the radio and was disappointed in it. I got Fleetwood Mac Live just cuz it was the new Fleetwood Mac album and I liked them. Several weeks later I put it on while doing homework and the album version of "Fireflies" came on and I loved it. By this time I was realizing that Stevie's Tusk songs plus "Fireflies" were all amazing songs. So.....

1981 - 17
Bella Donna came out and at first I was miffed. I wanted an album full of long, mystical Tusk-ish songs and what I got was some country, some rock, a song by another writer (and I was like, "Man Stevie has such a backlog what is she doing with a Tom Petty song on this album???"). I was happy for Stevie's success though, because I hoped it meant more solo albums in the future.

1982 - 18
So Mirage comes out and eventually the video for "Gypsy" is all over MTV. I don't really know why THIS song was the one that finally sealed the deal for me, when I knew I would buy everything Nicks ever put out from then on. Somehow it just seemed like it was "my song". Interestingly I know a lot of other gay men who also just love this song. There was even a movie called "Gypsy 83", made by a gay director. So somehow it really spoke to a generation.

RHIANNON--- A DJ said on the radio that a new Fleetwood Mac song was coming up. I waited,it seemed like forever. Then the DJ finally put on the new Fleetwood Mac song on. I was very disappointed . Who is this I thought, this ain't Fleetwood Mac!!?? I want the other singer. This singer sounds a little 'rough'. If you say so DJ that it is Fleetwood Mac so be it. Weeks later I remember Rhiannon playing in my head all through the day during school.I was totally in love with the song that I rejected weeks earlier.

Stand Back. It was 1983 or 1984 and I saw the video on MTV and thought to myself, "Wow, this woman is cool whoever the heck she is!". I was only about 7 years old so I had no idea at the time of her significance as an artist but I have a clear memory of where I was, the room I was in, and seeing her beautiful face on the screen. Little did I know the role she'd come to play in my life 15 years later...

"Talk to Me."

I bought the single...the 45 I should say, cause I heard it on the radio and loved it. Not long after, I was album shopping and came across Rock a Little. I'd heard nothing else from the album but remembered I liked the single and had an odd curiousity about the mysterious Stevie Nicks. I was familiar with her Fleetwood Mac work and some of her solo stuff through MTV but that was about as far as it went. So, I took a chance and bought Rock a Little. I haven't been the same since.:)

Sara....

I was 7 years old and my older sister came home with the Tusk album, I remember hanging out in her room with her ( which was a RARE treat) and having the 1st listen to the album. The momnet that Sara came on I was hooked for life, was my favorite song then, and it still is.

I love reading everybody's replies!

The song that broke me in was "Dreams". March 2008, to be exact. I had grown up on 1960's and 1970's rock 'n' roll and Stevie Nicks (and Fleetwood Mac) was a part of that musical ride my mother took me on. However, I despised Stevie Nicks until that day in 2008. I remember my mother driving me to elementary school in the mid '90s and she'd play her songs, and I'd go insane (no pun intended). What happened in 2008 was I grew the heck up. I remember wanting a strong-female-singer/songwriter to listen to and feel through, and that lady came to be Stevie Nicks. I looked her up one day and that was that.

For me it was Landslide that first caught my attention and then when I saw the Old Grey Whistle Test performance of Rhiannon, I was hooked well and truly.

Just to clarify, the Stand Back video is what made me aware that Stevie existed but I didn't officially fall obsessively in love until 2003 when I heard a radio promo for the SYW tour. Always liked her music though but was stuck on SB, ICW, and ROF and for the longest time the only SN cd I had was TimeSpace and would only listen to those 3 songs .
Also of note, growing up into my late teens I was a huge Madonna fan and Stevie was just another female pop star to me until that infamous year 2003 when in that moment everything changed...

For me, it was Leather and Lace when I was a little kid. It was on the radio stations my mom listened to, and I thought it was a cool song. I liked Stevie's voice and that she was a girl named Stevie, and then once I knew what she looked like, I was totally hooked - she looked about ten thousand times cooler than any adults that I actually knew! As a little girl who never quite fit in, I thought she was fabulous. Still do!

First - Great Idea. Thanks it has been interesting to read.

I remember listening to a local radio show in the 70's which my favourite speedway rider was being interviewed and playing music he liked. There was a track from Rumours - You make loving fun I think - and i loved it so much that I went the very next day to buy the album. Second track was drams and in the liner notes this was written by Stevie Nicks and when it played i was surprised to hear a woman! ...very stupidly thinking it would be a man and the lindsey person would be the other woman on the photos!! I know!!! but i was only 11 or 12! Dreams and Gold Dust Woman were my favourite tracks and I played them endlessly and it would be these two songs that shaped and changed my life - as they did for Stevie since it was Rumours that became such a massive hit. Back to the record store I went the following day and bought the white album and then rhiannon became a part of me for life and it has the same pull on me to this day, just like Gold Dust Woman. they seemed to connect to me like a soul mate- maybe a connection to a part of myself and emotions that I didnt even know at that age but would later become to be. I hope that doesnt sound too strange or weird but it probably does.

Its fascinating where one small thing, comment or song can lead and how many different areas of interest can open in your life..."from small things...Big things one day come" - Bruce Springsteen

Well ok like Wild Hearted it was "Landslide" and it came to me my senior year. I'm honestly kind of embarrassed with how I became a fan so please don't judge me.

First off let me start this by saying that I have always been a huge fan of rock n' roll starting with a sock hop in the 3rd grade that made me fall in love with Elvis Presley . OK. I got this particular music taste from my dad who LOVES Stevie. He would always try to get me to listen to her and I remember seeing an interview of her when I was really young and of course i had to see the part of the interview where she was talking about her drug abuse. This was probably around the time of "The Dance" or a little before so I was under 5 years old. Not exactly the best first impression of Stevie...especially since I hadn't heard any of her music. Anyways, my dad always told me that I had to like Stevie and FM and that they were amazing and wonderful and that if I didn't like them I was crazy. Now if you tell me that I have to like something I'm most likely gonna do the opposite because I really don't like being told what to do.

Ok flash forward to my senior year second semester (this March). Confession: I watch Glee but haven't mentioned it on the board because I was embarrassed at what you guys would think. Well I was watching the Behind the Scenes video that comes out before the episode airs. Of course this was the video with Stevie Nicks and I freaked out. I was like "this is probably the coolest lady ever!" I mean everything about her: her graciousness, her cool outfit and of course the crescent moon necklace;). They mentioned that they were doing her song "Landslide" on that night's show. I had never even heard of the song before. So I immediately went to iTunes and found the FM White Album and sampled "Landslide" well as you can imagine it immediately resonated with me. I could identify with the lyrics unimaginably well. Well because of that I bought the entire White Album and of course in the reviews of this album it kept mentioning this little album called "Rumours". I went ahead and bought that album too...without sampling any of the songs...I trusted "Landslide" that much. And believe me those two albums exceeded my expectations! Christine's songs were great and had the definite hook to them. Lindsey's guitar playing made me shake my head in disbelief at how raw and emotional it was...."I'm So Afraid" anyone? But it was "Rhiannon", "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman" that really got to me. Never in my life had I ever heard song lyrics that resonated to me. And of course that voice!! Never had I heard someone sound so strong yet so vulnerable at the same time. And the fact that she was able to be totally rock n' roll but completely feminine at the same time...well that just sealed the deal.Needless to say, I was hooked. I quickly bought everything FM and Stevie had ever done including everybody's solo albums. And as soon as I heard about IYD well I preordered that stuff...if there is one thing I owe to Glee it is this. Stevie's music has not only gotten me through some tough times now but also has allowed me to reconcile with some past issues I never thought I would have. So for all the crap people give to "Landslide" I can't hate it because it is what introduced me into the crazy, mystical wonderful world of Stevie....thanks :wavey:

well...
i was 8 when i heard THE VOICE of "rhiannon" and was enthralled...when i found out it was a girl....i KNEW i'd found a friend, since i didnt have a typical "girl" voice, either...
then when i was 11...(ugly, awkward... brown eyes/messy brown hair) the neighbor guy (1st crush-neighbor guy) had the FM & RUMORS albums...it was the 1st time i saw HER (FM back cover-brown eyes/unruly brown hair) .....she made it ok 2 be me...she was the 1st female i remember that made it ok in the 70's to NOT look like Cheryl Tiegs.....she's also the 1st FEMALE to DEFINE what it means 2 be a 30,40, 50, 60+ y.o. "rock and roll star".... she's done it...beautifully....(and for the most part, "naturally")... Rolling Stone got it right ALL those years ago.......there will only ever really be one "QUEEN"...

I don't know what is was about Nightbird...

I knew Fleetwood Mac. My sisters were all into Rumours when it came out. Made me sick to my stomach. My sister who was way older than us, used to make us sing backup to Dreams in 1977 and 1978. I hated Stevie Nicks. I mean I wanted to throw-up when I heard her voice.

However, it was that one time, when I walked into that convenience store and heard Nightbird, that I was really floored. I must been about 12, but there was just something about that song. I think it was the originality of it. It was a pretty song, but had a chorus I had never heard before. The structure of that song really intrigued me. I didn't even know it was Stevie Nicks. I just knew there was something really different about that song.

I was not allowed at that young age to buy albums. Especially, hers, because she was a witch. However, in 1986 my brother purchased Rock A Little. We were a little older. I remember listening to Has Anyone Ever Written and just thinking that song was really good. I was going through a hard time and would listen to that song over and over.

I wasn't really hooked until I heard Bella Donna. I didn't buy it until like 1988, but after I heard it, I quickly purchased everything thing I could. I loved that album. And then I discovered her other music, her off songs with Fleetwood Mac. I was basically hooked for life, and am soo pleased with In Your Dreams....

The song that drew me in was Rhiannon. I found it quite by accident; bored one day, googling friend's names... I'd never heard a voice quite like Stevie's, and that guitar riff totally had me.

As for favourite picture of Stevie... quite easily this one;

1. The song that drew me in:

My mom has Rumours on cd. I thought the cover was cool so I brought it along with me one night on a drive to someone's farm. When Dreams started playing, my mom said that she loved it.

I was amazed by the darkness and the guitar and Stevie's voice... I could go on. A while later I learned how to play the bass line and as I went through the rest of Rumours to find more songs to play along to, I was hooked. Finding the Buckingham Nicks album, the White Album, and Tusk really solidified that.

2. My favourite picture of Stevie:

I used to stare at the back cover of Rumours wayyy too much! I think it was because of how utterly miserable and freakish I felt, not being into punk in Scotland in 1978. Being into Janis and Jimi and Jefferson and Joni was completely unacceptable in my school. Maybe that's why I find myself forming a fist whenever I read LB's comment that he would've liked to be in The Clash.

I've always loved this pic of Stevie, though. She had everything I didn't: great hair, nice teeth, a suntan, breasts. She still inspires me in many ways that are a lot more 'sophisticated' than back then, but this was the pic that made me go 'Who the hell is that?'

Stevie is a very beautiful women, she is extremely photogenic and rarely takes a bad picture. So with 40 plus years of photos go choose from, all I can say is WOW...

This is one of my favorites, this was taken pre-breast implants, so sometime 1975ish, I do not know who to credit for this pic but? anyhow. In this pic she looks so young, Innocent, 100% natural beauty at its finest. She looks like an angel:angel:

2009, Manchester on the 'Unleashed' Tour. I remember it really clearly. Even though I've heard it 9.2 million times, when she began performing 'Dreams' she gave me goosebumps! It was a magical moment!

The first time I saw Stevie live was August 20th, 2011 PNC Pavilion Cincinnati! Never will I ever forget that concert. I'd heard of her doing this before but I actually felt like I was in her living room during the show! Actually getting to hear the songs that had previously just been on headphones or youtube was so surreal! It was so awesome and I definitely plan on going to more shows...you can't see just one!!;)

First song was Rhiannon. I remember the White Album. I was an instant fan of Fleetwood Mac upon hearing Over My Head. First live tour was Tango in the Night - 1987 - Chicago. First Stevie solo was after the Other Side of the Mirror. Seen them virtually every tour since.

We went to the TISL show at Fiddlers Green in Englewood ,Colorado on August 8 2001.It was my first show. LauraTN my wife of less one year have been to several Stevie shows. I remember shaking Chris Nicks hand outside the venue. Our seats were almost up to the lawn. I looked through binoculars for much of the show. I remember watching people on the lawn looking disinterested that they were at a rock concert. It was warm and breezy and Stevie put on a good show. We decided to get much closer in future shows. In Las Vegas in April of 2007 I got to shake Stevie's hands twice during two shows there, what a thrill.

My first Stevie show was June 23, 1983 @ Norfolk Scope. I also went to two other Wild Heart shows. One was July 23, 1983 @ Greensboro and one in Charlotte, NC (I think it was in Dec, I don't have the stub handy). For the Charlotte show I had a 10 row seat, which was hard to get in the days before Ticketbastard. Wow, what a tour. Although some here would argue, I believe this was Stevie at her peak! Many great songs, awesome band, and she looked stunning. I would have loved to have seen the Rumours Tour but that didn't happen, although I still waiting for one to come out on DVD. Anyone listening?? Anyway, I still remember these shows and I have wonderful memories ~ simply amazing.

I love all the tidbits about her early '80s shows!

My mother and I went together the first time I saw Stevie Nicks live, April 23, 2009 on the Unleashed Tour with Fleetwood Mac. I remember being a block away from the arena in my car and saying aloud, "We're going to hear Sara live tonight, "We're going to hear Tusk live tonight." I remember squealing like a teenage girl when I saw her lacy microphone, the tambourine on the stage. And then that first glimpse of her walking up the ramp, I never want to forget that -- ("There she is!") It's that kind of exuberance that turned my soul on once the band hit the stage, a spiritual experience, it was.

Oh. And I remember very clearly during Sara, Stevie stepped about 5 or so feet backward between verses, and as she was swaying the lace she almost took the mic down to the stage floor. Her expression was, "ohmygod, don't fall, don't fall......oh, phew, didn't fall." She laughed with the audience a bit. Hands down, best concert I've ever been to. Big concert, big memories, big, big love

I'm a Phoenix native so I have been lucky enough to see Stevie many times...Once I saw her in a hockey arena (stoned off her mind) she was a special guest for The Zoo - Mick Fleetwoods side project....it was a crazy night...but the first time I saw her was The Wild Heart tour here in Phoenix at her dad's arena..Compton Terrace...she was such a mess...in a good way....she seemed to always be emotional here in Phoenix verses the shows I have seen in Vegas, Denver and LA

Question #3 When did you first see Stevie LIVE???

Rumours Concert 77 Melbourne Aust, i was 16 years old: this was an outdoor venue & the concert was called Rockarena, which had several bands playing during the day & into the evening, including Santana & closing with Fleetwood Mac they were the only band that flew in via helicopter:). After buying the Rumours LP earlier in the year, i wanted to see them live no matter what, So i rounded up my 5 best friends from school, that also loved F/Mac, we were too young to drive, so we walked along the highway which was over 10km on that hot summers day, the traffic was bumper to bumper all the way to the concert. I remember, hoping & praying that walking this far then to find out we had missed them perform:distress::distress: would be an understatement. We arrived mid afternoon & the racetrack arena was jam packed. I said to the girls lets make our way to the front stage, which took over 30 min squishing past people to get there, i was VERY determined to get up close to see Stevie & to hear her sing GDW, Dreams & Rhiannon live :blob1: At around 3/4 into Santana's set, i decided to do a bit of exploring, security were nowhere to be seen:D so i walked though a gate & behind the stage was this medium size circus tent, before i knew it i was standing inside the tent with all the previous performers:o, they were partying big time, there were 6 large barrels full of beer & Champagne & a strong smell of pot lingering in the air.. i was sh#t scared & had a that horrible feeling that i really should not be here, anyway i scanned the tent for The Mac, they were about 20ft away, Stevie & Christine were sitting down in the corner with a drink in hand & laughing their heads off, LB had his back turned to them & leaning on a table.. I was very satisfied with my find LOL, then strolled back to my friends waiting at front stage.. Not long after Fleetwood Mac hit the stage:blob2:
Sorry for rambling, for me it was fun remembering that awesome experiance back in 1977:D
The next live concert was in 09 Unleashed Tour in Brisbane..

I've only 'seen' Stevie once. Wembley Arena, London, August (I think) 1988. TITN tour, sans LB. I was jetlagged to hell, and trolleyed on cans of chardonnay. Almost got ejected for making out with my then boyfriend. Bit of a waste, when I look back on it. I think if LB had been there, I'd be a lot more bothered, tho!:lol:

First time I saw Stevie live was The Mirror tour in Philadephia at the Mann Music Center. I remember it like it was yesterday. I got the tourbook (back when they were decent) and was just mesmerized by it. I remember, too, staring at her mic stand before the show with such incredible anticipation. To be totally frank, the show was a bit anticlimatic...she was totally klonopined out plus this was the beginning of the tour so she had broken her feet just beofre the tour started, which further limited her mobility. And she had the boks on. I almost died when I saw them and she barely moved at all but her voice sounded great. I remember watch the Red Rocks show for the first time shortly after the Mirror Show and I was amazed at how much energy she had compared to the show I just saw.

August 4, 1994, Street Angel Tour, Raleigh, North Carolina. Third row and I was pushed up to the stage by my friends for the Stage Walk. I was so nervous, and got to touch her hand. I was completely shell shocked. I remember how soft her hand was...ahh.... I was 19 years old, and had been a fan since I heard Talk To Me on the radio. All my friends were headbangers, so they were perplexed at my adoration of someone like her. I saw her again in 2007, Crystal Visions Tour, and again last night in Bristow, Virginia. I alson saw her with The Mac, ofcourse. I am a major music lover, I love all kinds of music country, rock, heavy metal, jazz, standards, blues, rock, hip hop, everything except maybe blue grass, classical and electronic stuff. I always liked this one too, sort of Stevie, but with a bit of a 'Hollywood starlet' feel to it as well, kind of like the pictures you see in the celebrity mags today. I can almost imagine the caption:

'Fleetwood Mac songstress Stevie Nicks, spotted on Rodeo Drive, Los Angeles, holding on to her Diet Cola, purse and BlackBerry whilst out shopping.'

Sure, but BlackBerrys were an inconceivable technology then, but it is very conceivable that the Coke cup she is holding is not full of soda, but full of cocaine!

Oooh, I'm a little behind on these:

#1: I was a junior in HS when the White Album came out, and a senior when Rumours came out, so that was ALL ... hooked on Crystal, Rhiannon, Blue Letter, Monday Morning, but LOVED GDW and well, all of Rumours (but I really wished they had shared that grapmmy with Hotel California)...

#2 Fav photo is on the back of the Red Rocks VCR box -- that just makes me melt, and

#3 ... first saw her w/ FM in Birmingham AL in 1980, from a ledge in the balcony on her side of the stage. Black top hat, high boots, and coked to the gills, dancing backstage after every song to get more...legendary Sisters of the Moon that night, with the backdrop moon and tree thing goin on...SO F'in ROCKIN! And she and LB sang Angel that night also! Oh, to see that again. One can only hope they do a BN tour before too long!

I can appreciate it in retrospect, but I was disappointed at the time. The show was a disappointing mess. The pacing of the show was all off, and she was clearly not in good form. It didn't dissuade me from being a fan, but I remember going home thinking "She could have done better...she's better than this." Of course, I had no clue about the personal issues she was dealing with at the time. At least I'm glad to say I saw a Rock A Little show!

1994 - Street Angel tour - Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA.

I had only recently discovered FM, but at 13 wasn't old enough (or financially capable) or being a diehard fan. My parents took me and my sister on a family trip to San Francisco and it was completely unplanned, but they decided to cross the bay and get us tix to this show. They were crappy seats, but I still remember it to this day. I didn't see Stevie live again until '97, but I've been a regular concert-goer since.

Question #4 A Stevie song that makes you cry

This list depends on what sort of mood I'm in, if I'm in a really depressed mood, the slightest thing can set me off  But, if I'm in a good mood, it takes a really powerful song to do that, so I'll bold those ones.

Dreams

Storms
That's Alright

Beauty And The Beast
Doing The Best That I Can
Love Is

4) Oh gosh. Most of them, it seems.

Storms, first and foremost, forever and always. The opening guitar used to make me tear up on command.
Silver Springs.
It's Only Love.
Love Is (live)
For What It's Worth (live)
Sara (Always)
Beautiful Child
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
Goodbye Baby
Planets of the Universe piano demo "If I had my life to live over, I would never dream..." nooooo
Gypsy piano demo
Rhiannon piano demos
Landslide
When I See You Again
Crystal

But those are just the usuals. Any of them are subject to, depending on how I'm feeling or how I hear a certain line. This is especially true with live performances, if something is articulated differently or what not.

Dreams
How Still My Love

#2: I can't pick just one. I couldn't pick just ten. LOL.

#3: My first time seeing Stevie live was the Tango tour. It was in Pittsburgh in fall of 87. I remember because I had just started college at Slippery Rock University (yes, there really is such a place) and some friends were going and invited me along. I was so thrilled. I didn't know that Lindsay had left the band until we were sitting there looking at the programs wondering who these other two guys were. Ah, life before the internet. LOL! I was absolutely captivated by Stevie. She sang Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You, and at the time I didn't really like ballads so I always skipped it on Rock A Little but once I heard her sing it live I totally fell in love with it. The one thing from that show that really stood out was that during the encore (I think it was Don't Stop) someone was throwing a frisbee around and it landed on stage. Stevie looked down at it for a second, then picked it up and threw it right back. And there was something so real and so human about her doing that and it really just made me love her all the more.

#4: Out of all her songs that make me cry from time to time it's Rose Garden that gets me nearly every time. When she sings "I've got all these things but a small gold band... on my finger... on my left hand" I always tear up. It's something about the way the music swells right at that point and especially the lyrics. It's the idea of this girl having passed up the one true love of her life for what she thought was going to be something better. And the fact that as a gay man I'm still fighting for my rights to someday legally marry the man of my dreams (when I finally meet him) and that we could have this entire life together and everything that comes with it... except for that small gold band (figuratively, of course). That line holds so much meaning for me and it chokes me up every time.

Morgana

Oh my gosh......."Love IS" for me! At the time SYW came out and my life was in the pits, used to listen to this song and just bawl! It still has that effect, because like Stevie says when she is singing a particular song she goes back to that moment in time, I too go back to that moment and a flood of tears ensues!

Sara is another one that gets to me. My favorite is Melborne from the Tusk tour (79 or 80, not sure). For me it's the way she sings "Sara" right after the "all I ever wanted". It sounds like she's crying, totally wailing her heart out. What is it about the San Jose one that gets to you.

Christopher

A few "live" Landslide performances over the years. During The TimeSpace tour & BTM tour with the Mac - these particular performances Stevie was moved to tears during the song and so choked up it was all she could do to finish her performance.

Hearing "Love Is" live the 1st time this year in Vegas was emotional.

The 1st time I heard "When I See You Again", I was moved by the intensity and rawness coming through her voice, knowing what she had just been through (rehab & nearly dying while on the RAL tour:distress:) "What's the matter Baby" - I just wanted to give her a big warm HUG!

And finally, the most stirring and powerful was being at Stevie's AHI concert in Sept. 2000 in Phoenix, witnessing Lindsey & Stevie perform a heartfelt & the most beautiful acoustic rendition of "Gypsy" ever!!!! It's my opinion that this is the only way "Gypsy" should ever be performed in concert. Why they have not done this again is BEYOND me. The crowd went nuts!

Ok, I can't believe someone else said "Sometimes It's A Bitch"! That has made me cry too! Because Stevie didn't write it, and because of the things she's said about not liking it, I tried not to like it out of loyalty, but I just really do like it anyway. A variety of Stevie songs can make me cry, but Sara and Gypsy are the other most frequent ones.

#4...

Not many Stevie songs make me cry, but there have been a few that are memorable. It depends on the circumstances of my life at the time; I mean, the songs that could bring tears then, don't necessarily do so now.

Beauty And The Beast. Hearing the song as though I were the narrator, and realizing that I was in - in this particular case - the Beast, was painful. "I've changed!" said Stevie, and I to him- but it was too late. The damage was done.

Seven Wonders. I always pick this as the song that I feel I most relate to. It's a shame it wasn't written by Stevie. The meaning for me is so personal - but I'll say that I believe very much in fate, karma - and reincarnation. Some things seem so ,well, meant to be - and yet can never be. And you both have to walk away. "well it might work out someday..." Or, maybe you've been there and done that, and it's just a sense of familiarity, left over from before? I don't know. But a very special person once said to me upon departing: "See you in the next one." I'm absolutely certain that I will.

And the people saying Love Is, especially when performed live - totally. Stevie wiped me on the floor with that song this year at Red Rocks. I was disoriented for a while afterwards.

Italian Summer. Yeah, and I'm not embarrassed about it either. I spent a week in Italy last September -like right now, a year ago- and it was the greatest time of my adult life. Our last night, there was this HUGE storm and the wind and the rain were enough to take your breath away. The song takes me there, instantly. They're good tears, though.

#3 Songs that make you cry:

Watching Doing The Best That I Can for the first time on You tube.

Reason being, 2008 I was new to the Internet & You Tube, & the first thing i did was type in Stevie's name. To this day i'm not sure why it was her that came to mind first off:shrug: cause i totally lost interest in her a long time ago, which i really regret now. anyway the first song i wanted to watch on You Tube was GDW, immediately i became addicted & would stay up till 3 in the morning every night, watching every single fascinating interview, live concert performance's, demo recordings etc, i have been in Stevie heaven ever since!!:D
Not long after i discovered Doing The Best That I Can piano version, & that song just broke my heart, i bawled my eyes out. I guess at that time when this song was recorded i thought Stevie had dropped off the face of the planet, when in fact she was going through the most torturous, painful time of her life.. very sad indeed..
Anyway thank the Stevie angels she got through it, and now she's finally at peace & happy with her life:thumbsup:

Garbo. Prior to the release of the Enchanted boxed set I have never heard Garbo before. Stevie mentioned Garbo a time or two in interviews. People on the Ledge said it was a favorite. I also learned it was a B side of Stand Back. What was this Garbo? One the first songs I played off of Enchanted was Garbo out of curiosity. I really liked Garbo, a kind of waltzy , romantic song. The third time I played it I just bawled. It was a missing link that tied together many her songs. If Garbo comes on in an ipod shuffle I have to have my guard up or the tears will flow again.

Beautiful Child- 'Your hands held mine, so few hour'
You could allow yourself to relate this song to so many different circumstances. I relate it to my Aunt Angel. When she passed away a few years ago after a long batter with cancer, I was at peace, knowing I did everything I could to provide comfort to her and my cousins during that difficult time. But still I was left feeling that ........'my hands had held hers so few hours'

Well really any Stevie song can make me tear up at any given moment...I always have to be on guard somewhat when listening to her music in public;). But the ones that I know I will cry on are:

Landslide (FM live version...she sounds so vulnerable)
Rhiannon (Piano Version)
Storms (Always, always always)
Sara (Tusk tour live version)
Sisters of the Moon (Piano Demo)
Beautiful Child
Bella Donna
The Highwayman
Leather and Lace
Crystal
Beauty and the Beast
Love Is (Live version...gets me every time)
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You ( I think there's a case to be made that this might be one of the best rock n' roll ballads ever written. My eyes are getting watery just thinking about the song:()
Gypsy (Mirage tour...so emotional)
Italian Summer ( I actually went to Italy this summer so technically it really was my Italian Summer....and it ended in a hurricane so wonderful:roll eyes:...Stevie predicted my life lol)
Nightbird (Not all the time...just during some performances...particularly at the end)
Moonlight
Soldier's Angel (Especially the live version)
For What It's Worth (cheesy hand motions and all ;))

Ok, I can't believe someone else said "Sometimes It's A Bitch"! That has made me cry too! Because Stevie didn't write it, and because of the things she's said about not liking it, I tried not to like it out of loyalty, but I just really do like it anyway. A variety of Stevie songs can make me cry, but Sara and Gypsy are the other most frequent ones.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves this song and it makes me cry LOL I know Stevie didnt write it but I just LOOOOOVE the words and how Stevie sings it

I cry over stories, not songs -- unless the song tells a story. Country songs with a full blown narrative like Honey or Don't Take the Girl make me sob every time I hear them. But less plotted songs, don't get the same reaction from me.

On the other hand, I do cry when I hear Stevie tell the HAEWAFY story and fountain, even if the song itself doesn't do it for me.

#3 Songs that make me cry.....

Sara
Any version. This is my touchstone Stevie song. It's so multi-faceted that it can reach me in any mood. If I'm happy, it can make me joyous. If I'm sad, it can release what needs to be let go. As Stevie said, 'Sara' is a song that's easy to fall in love with, because she did too. I also love when she said that her mum told her that her dad talked about it like it was 'America the Beautiful' (I think), and would sit her down and point out to her all the great things that she'd done on it. So sweet.

Gypsy
Any version. For similar reasons to 'Sara'. For its mingling of strength and sorrow. As someone else said, 'She is dancing away from you now...' gets me every time. And 'I still see your bright eyes... I can't find you...' This reminds me of when I lost my dad. I'd lived far away from him for many years before he died, and it took a long time to realise that there was no distance I could travel that would mean I could get to him ever again, that I'd never find him no matter how hard I tried.

Blue Water
Don't know why, because it's quite repetitive and the piano isn't anything - except that (like Stevie) I love the water. And maybe it's slightly tied to 'Gypsy' too, with all that 'waiting for the sound of my gypsy'.

For What It's Worth
Predictably, it's the catch in her voice. And probably the fact that she mentions crying. Ugh, every time.

Goodbye Baby, for sure!! It's interesting to see that so many people picked that song. The first time I heard it, it just really touched me. Like, she's just so accepting of what has to happen in the lyrics, it is an amazing song. Others:

Sara (the one on the Tusk deluxe edition, where you can really hear the piano-probably my favorite song of all time)
Silver Springs (the 97 live version is amazing)
After the Glitter Fades
Gypsy
Sanctuary
Think About It (demo)

Storms
Sara (especially live Tusk-era)

Question #5 Your favorite of her relationships

Two words: Lindsey Buckingham

GoldDustWoman22
09-08-2011, 12:07 AM
Lindsey Buckingham...total shipper and proud of it! The history those two have, the songs that came from their relationship. And the fact that we probably wouldn't have most of the songs if they had not started to date and formed Buckingham Nicks and then were asked to join FM etc, etc. I just definitely think there is a sentimentality there that is not to be missed. And especially when I see videos like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32NBbH1XwPA

well it gets me a little misty eyed. They really are the Sam and Diane of rock n' roll:angel:

Plus the fact that they were such a drop dead gorgeous couple and the fact that I'm pretty sure they were still 'shackin' up" in the late 70s early 80s makes it all the more intriguing:cool:

And really guys can you imagine a world without Stevie's stories involving hamburger helper, sewing moons and stars onto jeans, cars that can't reverse, etc.? I mean there just a part of the world's vocabulary now;)

Dave Stewart. Her, with the help of her background singers, seduced him in the mid 80s to get back at Jimmy Iovine. She screwed him deep in drug addiction when she was totally lost. She ended up firing him, Jimmy and Petty. She lost the hit Don't Come Around Here No More and also lost a musical partiner. They were supposed to work together.

It shows how drugs can screw up what was mean't to be. Somehow, they found each other again because they were mean't to work together. It was destiny. Stevie is off drugs and look at what they created. The circle is complete.

Lindsey, for sure. I had a boy I'd fallen in love with back in my 20's. We had an intense friendship and a great emotional love for each other, but he was straight and we could never be together. And even after he moved away I pined for him, I compared every other guy I dated to him, and I wrote endless songs and poems about him. He was my muse. And for this reason I totally get Stevie and Lindsey. Why they can be on that stage and look at each other that way. Why so many of her songs have him in there, even when the song isn't specifically about him. And why, all these years later, she still talks about him in interviews as if there might still be a chance, even though they both know there probably won't be. Some things never fade.

Lindsey, Jimmy, Tom, Robin, Coke... I love Sheryl, but I'm not sure that they work well together professionally.

Yeah, I'm ambivalent towards Stevie & Sheryl's work together 13 years on as well. During the TISL era it was refreshing, and Stevie was so thrilled to be working with a female producer/musician she respected after feeling she'd been suppressed & diluted by her former male producers. But in retrospect, the 2 only Stevie & Sheryl collaborations I faithfully love are "If You Ever Did Believe" & "Candlebright". But I think it's very cool they're friends.

Which brings me to my current favorite Stevie relationship: Dave Stewart! In Dave, Stevie finally found a virtuoso musician/producer/artist who understood Stevie's unique strengths, eccentricities and LOVED everything about them and her :xoxo:. Allowing Stevie to let her guard down ("put your ego on the mantle") to write and create an impressively diverse & mature record that is among her BEST ever!!!!

Ongoing favorite relationships: Lindsey & Tom...Ahhhh.. forever ♥. Jimmy, while they were good. And who could leave out Waddy, Sharon & Lori - practically the last 3 standing musketeers from Bella Donna - The Beginning

I have to admit that I am endlessly fascinated by her improbable connection with Prince. They would have made the cutest little (and I mean little) couple. They could borrow each others outfits. Question #1: "Crying In The Night". It was the first song on the first album I heard of Stevie Nicks. Wasn't really the SONG that "drew me in"...it was the album cover (DUH!!).

Question #2: can't narrow it to one, difficult enough to narrow it to 5. Don't have time to search 'em out right now, but will come back to edit this question when I find the photos.

Question #3: Fleetwood Mac at Anaheim Stadium (Sept 75) when they opened for Loggins & Messina and The Faces. The "Rhiannon" that day was jaw-droppingly stunning.

Question #4: Yes, I will admit that there've been a few occasions where my eyes have welled up while listening to either a Stevie song, or one of her songs with Fleetwood Mac. Don't recall any details other than that generic statement.

Question #5: Her relationship with.....ME! Because that's the only one I know the intimate details about. (and, yes, I AM being serious)

I would have to agree with ya on this one. Lori and Sharon and a few other close girlfriends we don't see in public (ex. Mary Torrey), these ladies have been through everything with her since 1979/80, Mary had been around since the begining. There is an obvious love between them. Excellent! Thanks, guys. :]

The problem with choosing a song about one of her relationships is that so few of them are definitively about just one person or situation. So, although I want to go with 'Sara' on just about everything, I'm going to go with 'Dreams'. Her relationship with LB of course, in spite of everything that has gone on between them, he is the only one who really gets her music and produces it so it glows and shimmers.

Oh gosh, I can't pick a favorite. This is impossible.

I guess...

Outside the Rain.

"So you're still lonely,
You say that it's been forever
Maybe you never knew me
Maybe you thought that I'd never
Change, but you know
I'm changing, you're wrong
And it's been like dying
Ooh, no love's that hard to find
And I'm tired of, I'm tired of trying"

I'm gonna have to say "Silver Springs"...I feel like that's not a very original answer. But in terms of the break up we definitely know that it is about Lindsey, and well it is an incredible. Just how it starts off so vulnerable and then when you get to the end...bam! Stevie's words hit you like a ton of bricks. Her emotion is so raw and painful that I can feel the sadness of the recording and "The Dance" version. Gets. to. me. every. time.

I'm going to probably get beat up for this but the first one that came in my head was Rose Garden. It's so eerie about the way her life went down the same way she said it would. And the "on my finger, on my left hand" gets me everytime. Am I a shipper now? lol:lol:

Second choice would be Silver Springs...obviously.

One of my favs! I used to keep rewinding this part of the song and scream "preach girl!"

No, I love Rose Garden too. I also love another disdained one: I Still Miss Someone and I take it as a relationship song though it's a cover.

Gypsy. I always interpret this as being about Robin, and as I've said before, the 'she is dancing away from you now, she was just a wish, she was just a wish. And her memory is all that is left for you now...' part, really strikes a chord with me.

1# Edge of Seventeen. In School of Rock. Thanks to my cousin who loves absurd movies about Rock n' Roll AND Jack Black. This song was like a revelation. "Oo,oo, oooooh". After watching a live video of this song, i was hooked. That was the most powerful thing i had seen in my life.

2# Usually, it's hard for me to answer those questions, "favorite something", so i can't believe how obvious this was in my mind. This picture manages to explain why is Stevie so amazing, when i can't. Her eyes filled with tears, the way she looks at her crowd, her smile, and just how beautiful she is... I got the exact same sensation when i watched the Edge of Seventeen live video from 1981 and saw her, for the first time, dance, and smile, and cry at the same time. It just makes me want to cry, and be happy at the same. She's a freaking paradox.

3# October, 17th 2009.

4# Gypsy. Stevie's paradox, again. So joyful, and so melancholic at the same time, that i can't say if i'm crying out of joy or out of sadness. Doesn't matter. Very emotional.

5# Lindsey but i like the answer with Lori and Sharon.

6# Dreams (favorite song, actually).

Just this just made me tear up! I swear, reading her words are more powerful than hearing her sing them imo!

The rose colored glasses have come off, your seeing someone as they really are, not how you remember them or want them to be.

# 6: "Long Way To Go! Supposedly about her broken relationship w/ Joe W. I like it because it's Stevie being strong even at her weakest moment in life. She deals w/ it in what is, "Tough Love!"

Catching up...

3. Don't remember specifically but Enchanted Tour at Blossom near Cleveland.

4. It varies, but lately "Everybody Loves You." I don't know WHY, but it's just so sad to me. Also, The Tower/Goodbye Baby demos (not the SYW version), and Planets of the Universe (demo, not TISL version).

5. Lindsey.

6. Wow, too many to name, but going on the Lindsey theme I do love "Without You" as one of the only (or THE only) cutesy love songs they have. But her solo work specifically? "Outside the Rain" ultimately, but lately "You May Be the One."
