thats a tough question....Stevie's music has always appealed to "darker places"...I cant say that much of her music actually makes me smile....even when a song starts out happy it usually turns dark.....the few songs that make me smile are ...
Say You Will,
Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind,
Inspiration,
Gate and Garden,
Whenever I call You Friend

Just moving this to the end so it'll be easier to find as we go along.
Question #1: "Crying In The Night". It was the first song on the first album I heard of Stevie Nicks. Wasn't really the SONG that "drew me in"...it was the album cover (DUH!!).
Question #2: can't narrow it to one, difficult enough to narrow it to 5. Don't have time to search 'em out right now, but will come back to edit this question when I find the photos.
Question #3: Fleetwood Mac at Anaheim Stadium (Sept 75) when they opened for Loggins & Messina and The Faces. The "Rhiannon" that day was jaw-droppingly stunning.
Question #4: Yes, I will admit that there've been a few occasions where my eyes have welled up while listening to either a Stevie song, or one of her songs with Fleetwood Mac. Ok, I remember, USUALLY it's after one of the pre-79 live "Rhiannon"'s
Question #5: Her relationship with.....ME! Because that's the only one I know the intimate details about. (and, yes, I AM being serious)
Question #6: "Dreams". No..."Silver Springs". No..."Dreams". Well, either one of those two.
Question #7: "No Spoken Word", "Ghosts Are Gone", "Sisters Of The Moon", any live "Rhiannon" before 1979 (the weird occurance of "smiling" AND "crying" simultaneously).

Ahhh. Catchup time.
#5) Your favourite of her relationships
Clichéd, I know, but, Lindsey Buckingham. Some of her best songs came from that relationship.
#6) Your favourite song about one of her relationships
Ooh. There's a few. Silver Springs, Beautiful Child, That's Alright, Long Way To Go, For What It's Worth and Thousand Days.
#7) A song that always makes you smile
Lately, Annabel Lee, For What It's Worth and Ghosts Are Gone. But, out of the rest of her body of work... Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Gypsy and T-t-talk to me, mainly because they are so much fun to sing along to really loudly whilst driving.
#8) The Stevie lyric you’d want on your tombstone
Ooh, this is difficult... and a little morbid. I'm tempted to say "Taken by the sky" at the moment, since I can't think of anything else that would really work... apart from maybe I decided yesterday that I would leave you / I'm alright which can sorta work in a death-related way. Question 8- what Stevie lyrics on my tombstone?
Truly, there is no room for lyrics given the costs of tombstones, by the time you are done with the name and years, you're about done! HOWEVER, it would be cool to have "Touched By An Angel" played at the funeral: (italics = my most favorite lines)
And when she walked in the room
After so many years,
He looked up and saw her
He was standing at the crossroads
She was moving in slow motion
Everything was the same,
Except that everything was different
In that very moment, everyone was silent
And everyone was friendly,
For the first time in years,
Everyone was smiling
Though their pain was apparent
and the floor was wet and slippery
With the tracks of their tears
And then I see someone standing
At the side of the stage
Not standing in the shadows
I see her face
Glowing in the darkness
In her own angel way
"I have come to make you better,
I have come to take you away."
No one slipped and fell
This time, everyone was steady
Someone held my arm so that
I would not fall
For the first time, in a long time
Everyone was ready
No one said a word
And that simply said it all
And then I see someone standing
At the side of the stage
Not standing in the shadows
I see her face
Glowing in the darkness
In her own angel way
"I have come to make you better,
I have come...to take you away."
I’ll make you better
Walking through the room together
In suspended animation...
No one saw us go... no one said goodbye
But in my heart, I leave
Great expectations
That you will find the answers
to your questions
And that life will once more...
be a celebration...
and that you will be touched by an Angel
and that you will be touched by an Angel
and that you will be touched by an Angel
Celebration
Someday
Someday, Someday
Celebration
To me this is one of Stevie's greatest songs, and yet most people have never heard of it (outside of this website).

When Stevie was promoting Soundstage, she kept saying in interviews that she'd like to do a righteous political album. So I really considered giving her three albums that I thought might inspire her, when she did the B&N signing. I didn't end up doing so. I still regret it.
So I am going to cheat and pick one song from each album:
"Wasteland of the Free" from The Way I Should by Iris Dement
"More than a Dream" from Yes by Pet Shop Boys
"Black Cloud" (which Fleetwood Mac should cover) from Years of Refusal by Morrissey

Tombstone:
So I close my eyes softly, 'til I become that part of the wind that we all long for sometime. And to those that I love, like a ghost through a fog, like a charmed hour
and a haunted song.
Actually, I did quote FM in my dad's funeral program. Which was silly, because he was not at all that kind of fanciful person and never would have understood, much less chosen, anything like that himself. But I did it for me and if I had died, I'm sure he would have orchestrated things to his liking. I quoted Angel, Temporary One and Say We'll Meet Again in the program, together with pictures of my dad.
For my brother's tombstone, we did use a Prince reference: "sometimes it snows in April."

Something ridiculous and extremely explicit! A few titles come to mind: "Nann", "Queen B*tch", "Yankin" and "twerk" ! Lmao! My bff would slap me for saying those lol! I'd also sit her in a car and blast "hoochie mama" by 2LiveCrew juuuuuuust to see her expression!

Question #10 The one question you would ask Miss Nicks if you met her?
Well first I would tell her y I believe God put her music in my heart. I would thank her for everything. Then I would say:
"I am not a woman that regrets. I know that everything happens for a reason and every mistake/choice that I've made has made me who I am today. I like to think that you, Ms. Nicks, would feel the same way. However, I want to know.....if you could go back in time and change ONE thing, just ONE....what would it be!? I know that this one change would probably take you down a different journey in life, but please tell me!"
Question #10 The one question you would ask Miss Nicks if you met her?
"Why in the world do you refuse to play certain songs live anymore? Even though they were hits?! No canned responses, please."

#12 - Dream date
Hmm. I guess I have two answers to this one. To be honest, I have such a crush on Rumours-era Stevie that a 'date' with that woman would rapidly become a drool-fest! But the other 'date' - a present-day date - would be where we go out to sea on a little boat and she teaches me all the Sharon or Lori bits on about twenty different songs, and we just spend the whole night lying in the boat looking at the stars and singing and being rocked and lulled by the waves. Heaven.

I guess my dream date would be to go out somewhere and have lunch...talk ALOT. I would let her ramble and tell funny stories because to me that is when Stevie seems to be more open and honest. I would asks her about some of her songs. And then of course the clothing!! I would want it almost to be a two sided conversation. I have a feeling that Stevie has a ton of wisdom that could seriously do me good in my own life. Then we would go back to her piano and sing songs and just talk about life. There's a lot of talking going on so far lol. I would also look in her closet for the outfit she wore in the Tusk promo vid...and ask if I could borrow it lol jk! But mostly I would want it to be a very personal, one on one type thing.

Question #13 Bella Donna or Wild Heart.. Why?
Blueletter18
09-22-2011, 07:11 AM
Wow, love this question...it's SO tough to choose, though!! I guess I have to go with Bella Donna, although I could make a case for The Wild Heart as well. Bella Donna is simply beautiful, every song is perfection. The Wild Heart is more fun, and more "Stevie", in my opinion, and the running order of the opening four songs is just amazing. However, I am not a big fan of Sable on Blond or Beauty and the Beast, and those two at the end of the record kind of helped me make my decision. I also don't like that "I Will Run to You" has Tom kind of overpowering on vocals. I think Bella Donna is more consistent all the way through.
AWomanWithAPast
09-22-2011, 07:50 AM

It's tough, but I think I prefer The Wild Heart. I think she did cut loose a bit more on that album, partially on the back of the success of BD, partially because of where she was at emotionally after losing Robin. The overall effect it has on me is rawer and more drenching. I always think BD sounds calculated in comparison.

Wild Heart. She was at her peak IMO. Everything about this album is perfection with the exception of Gate and Garden which should have been All the Beautiful Worlds. Her vocals, her sex appeal, her writing, her performances, and just the songs in general. Honestly I just clearly prefer the songs on TWH over BD. BD has that country thing going on and while some of her greatest gems are included on this album (BD, HSML, L&L) the album as a whole is not quite as appealing to me as TWH. BATB and SB alone make it her best album ever. It has more raw emotion than BD and have I mentioned she was the hottest she's ever been at the time?
<a target='_blank' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/708/64166611.jpg/'><img src='http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1261/64166611.th.jpg' border='0'/></a>

Ok this question is not fair. I can honestly say that I love both of these albums because of their awesomeness. And it took me awhile to decide which one I collectively like better...it was like choosing a favorite child. I actually felt bad about it:o. I'm gonna have to go with BD though. That album is just genius to me. I find that when I decide to listen to one song from the album I have to listen to the entire thing. It's like an addiction or something. However, even though I like the album of BD better. Wild Heart makes me more emotional...the first time I heard BaB I started sobbing with the opening strings. And the first time I got pulled over I was rocking out to Stand Back . So that album definitely has it's memories. Also the WH tour was incredible and I'm totally in love with those performances...ok can I just call it even??

There are definitely some standout tracks on the Wild Heart for me (Stand Back, Wild Heart, BatB, Nothing Ever Changes, Sable on Blonde, Enchanted...) but I have to say that overall, I prefer Bella Donna. I love and adore every single song and there's just something special.. it really sounds within me. That's not to say I don't love The Wild Heart, because like I said, I really do, it's definitely incredible, there's a lot of passion and insane vocals. It's a very close call, but as for the albums as wholes, I have to choose Bella Donna.

Bella Donna. Sure, The Wild Heart is wild in the darkest places of your mind , and has some wicked a$$ vocals! But BD is just a substantial, well built Noah's Ark, that can & will float me to kingdom come .

14) I like what she said about how if she's having lunch with someone, she wants all their attention, she doesn't expect you to be sending text messages etc.
I also love how she says that social networking is evil. I think I read that on the 'Ask Stevie' section on the nicksfix.

BellaDonna! The blueprint! Period!
Precisely. Besides being a conscientiously crafted & timeless recording & cherry picking from most of the best that was in Stevie's songwriting vault from @73' to 81'. Had Bella Donna not succeeded to the degree it did, it could have been the beginning and the end of her solo recording career.

Favorite quotes (sorry, they're kind of long...from a 1981 interview):
"A certain number of my relationships are ruined, not because of the people involved but because of my other commitments. And so, every time, I'm just a little less interested in starting something up, because what has happened before is probably going to happen again. It's not a lack of interest on my part; it's a lack of time to be interested. I have so many commitments that he would have to come fourth-and I don't like making anybody feel he's fourth."
"there have been some reviews-which I’ve loved-that said I didn't try to sell my show on sex, that I sang my show. On the other hand, I know I'm cute. I can dance. I don't have a bad figure. I know exactly what I am. I'm certainly no great beauty. I know exactly how far I can go. "
"I think you live on earth a certain number of times until you finish what it is that you were meant to do here. And then you go on. I don't think I'll be back. I think I'm done. "

I forget the exact quote, but it's from a RAL era interview where she says during the recording of that album is when she "really learned how to sing".
Not that I don't love some shredded and wailing vocals from Stevie, cuz I do, I just think in the technical sense she hadn't "learned to sing". I'm sure her current voice coach would agree...

Jane or Whole Lotta Trouble. WLT is just a hot mess lyrically & the music never really gels. Not to mention it was an odd choice for a single imo & the by far her worst ever video, in which she looks like she's stuck in klonopin cement
.
Haha so true!

Though, I definitely have to be in the mood for this song, I would never rank it amongst her worst.

LOL! No Lindsay!
I've never liked it. What irritates me most about it is the backup singers parts, " I cant wait!" Sorry, but it sounds really dumb to me.
The video is fun to watch tho, with Stevies hair getting caught in her mouth and then in the next verse she pulls it out. It's like, who the f directed this video??

As for the cocktail, i read that she served guests at her listening party for TISL Chambord mixed with Champagne, so probably that.

Chambord Liqueur Royale de France, a raspberry-flavored liqueur w. Champagne. I get a flamin' headache just thinking about that combo. Too Sweet! ick. Reminds me I'll have to sneak in Kettle One or Grey Goose vodka at Stevie's next barbecue hoe-down

ADDING ON...
Question #8: wouldn't really have one (a tombstone, that is, since I want to be creamated & ashes poured into the surf in SoCal)...but, for the game's sake:
"I have always been a storm".
Question #9: Patti Smith's version of Buddy Holly's "Words Of Love". Her arrangement sounds custom made for Stevie.

Question # 17: There's probably a few, but I can't specifically name one at the moment.
Question #18: Hmmm...can't think of somebody for the younger Stevie, but for the Stevie from about 1990 on, Carrie Fisher or Linda Blair.

Question #21: A moment that made you proud to be a Fan?
I'm constantly amazed how many times I'm proud of Stevie...in this day and age it seems people will say and do anything to be famous....Over the last 15 years Stevie seems to be thoughtful, considerate, giving and discrete...I admire those qualities in this crazy world....btw I'm sure she can be a complete prima donna, as well:nod:

'Worst Stevie song'.....
There's quite a few I routinely skip, and they're mostly ballads. But I have a rush of loathing for 'Cheaper Than Free' at the moment, so let's go with that.
A moment when I was proud? Nowadays, I'm nearly always proud to be a fan of her. I like her support for the troops. That's a much harder alignment to hold than simply being anti-war, when liberal opinion generally doesn't want to separate the decision to wage war from the people deployed to wage it, ignoring the social and class reasons why people join the armed forces in the first place. I'm also proud of her for turning her life around from addiction and being strong and sober and creative in her 60s.

Also, she said that her onstage persona is no different that how she normally acts or dresses, which is awesome.

Impossible!! With my other favorite singers I could do it....but not with Ms Nicks. That's why I love Stevie, every song has a lyric or a verse that I love......
"what a minute, baby...stay with me a while...you said you'd give me light but you never told me about the fire"
"Women, they will come and they will go...when the rain washes you clean, you'll know"
"I will follow you down until the sound of my voice will haunt you"
and it goes on and on....storms....beautiful child...spinning wheels...outside the rain....IMPOSSIBLE!:blob2:

21 I'm proud that despite the mess she was in both creatively and personally during the late eighties and early ninties, she came full circle with 'The Dance'. She looked and sounded amazing, and a lot of the material from the last two albums stands up with her classics. I think her 'legend' status is quite firmly secure now.
22" If I had my life to live over, I would never dream, I'd still wish you gone, and I would live alone."
"She is dancing away from you now, she was just a wish, she was just a wish, and her memory is all that is left for you now."
"The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea changes colour, but the sea does not change."
