I think you should be careful with this.... the website says that they will cancel the tickets of anyone who tries to sidestep around the rule.

Short of requesting a DNA sample, how could they make the connection? But, yes, you're right- I would be playing with fire!

I have an aol email account...why wouldnt they tell us i could have registered a different email! ughhhh

It sounds like some kind of glitch. Did you already check your trash folder? Or perhaps scalpers often use aol accounts. I wonder if you signed up again under a new email addy if you'd get another code. Get a gmail account and try it!

I received the code last night. I only need 1 ticket but I'm going to get 2 if I can and find a worthy person on here to take the other. I'm not feeling positive about the whole thing though. It looks like there is only a small amount of tickets they are putting up today and the majority of them will be on sale Saturday with the scalpers grabbing most of them naturally. Good luck to everyone!

That's too funny - my seats are 3 and 4 as well  :laugh: And I too, sorta had a mini FREAK out imaging the whole standing/waiting in line at will call for tickets, imaging all the chaos, especially since I'm flying in for this event. It's already enough of a nightmare standing in line for the doors of the venue to open. It'll be interesting.

I dont think I'm going to get there until 4 or so.. I dont get up to NYC that often so I'd like to walk around for a bit. As long as I'm in the first few rows I'll be happy.

I found this picture of the venue..there is gonna be a mob scene!

Yes, But a FUN mob scene:D. To get to see Stevie in such an intimate venue, does not come around very often. I saw her in Boulder, Co. June, 1987 right after Tango was released, at an even smaller club. Mick Fleetwood's Zoo was playing, and word got out the day of the show Stevie was possibly making a special appearance. It was a mob scene! But I got to meet a slightly drunken Stevie at the rear of club. A friend and I hid behind a dumpster LOL, and jumped out when we saw a small group with Stevie & Mick standing around, waiting to get into their cars. They were a little freaked but real nice. Stevie seemed a little out of it. Anyway, I was at the front of the stage, looking directly up at Stevie's chin....sooooo utterly fascinated, I barely noticed that she flubbed some lines of Leather and Lace :p

Here is the after midnight schedule from Grand Central to New Haven..I know you're not crazy about parking your car at the New Haven garage...but my personal experience has been fine so far! I've parked it overnight for two Stevie events in NYC so far and have been fine. I will be parking it there from Wed to Saturday (I'm going to AC too). Anyway, you can get out of NYC after midnight and (as I'm sure you know) there are lots of stops before New Haven that would be the same train...but, when I was researching parking lots a couple years ago, it actually ended up that the New Haven garage was the best option. Hope you decide to still go!!!

Not exactly a 3-star, but it's relatively new and very, very unique, deep in the heart of the far West Village (Jane Street is my favorite street in the city):

http://www.thejanenyc.com/#/rooms/0

Many of the rooms have shared baths and the rooms are tiny, but the location is very cool. And the prices are quite reasonable. Unfortunately it's a long walk or cab ride to Webster Hall from here- it's a little bit inconvenient for public transportation.

I'm trying to get a friend to come with me, so maybe. If that happens, I'll let you know. But, right now my mom is saying she's going bc she doesn't want me going to a city I've never been before alone. Even though I'm going to be 23, and already have lived on my own for 5 years and travel to Vegas alone all the time! Grr. I am going to try to fly in on May 2nd so I can go to the Today Show on May 3rd. I'm not sure that's going to happen but it's a lot more likely if someone else wants to go to the Today Show and wants to split the hotel room with me. I'm also not opposed to crashing on any couches  But seriously, if any New Yorkers have a free couch for the 2nd and 3rd, I'll stay completely out of your hair and go get a hotel for the 4th.

I'm going to try to get a hotel room around the venue I guess. As far as airports go, am I right in thinking that LaGuardia is the closest airport? How do I get from the airport to the venue/hotel, would a taxi be affordable? This trip is all about cheap! I'm originally from Chicago and used to driving everywhere. So I'm not used to going anywhere without a car.

Honeychild, I know from NYC airports!

A taxi from JFK or LaGuardia to the city is not a flat fee (it's only a flat fee outbound)- approximately $40 - $45 plus tolls (depending on your approach into the city). So it's probably north of $55 when all is said and done.

Alternatives:

LaGuardia: Catch an MTA Bus right from the terminal! I believe it's the M125 or something like that. Anyway, if you don't have too much luggage and you don't mind schlepping your stuff around, it can't be beat for $2.25. The bus takes you to 125th St. in Harlem, which is connected to every subway line in the city. Depending on the location of your hotel (west or east side), get off at 125th St. accordingly. If you have a MetroCard, you get a free transfer into the subway system. But if you don't have a MetroCard, you'll have to pay another $2.25.

JFK: The cheap way into town is to take the AirTrain to a subway connection - either Howard Beach in Brooklyn or Jamaica, Queens. Either way, it's a loooooooooong-ass trip into the city- at least 90 minutes, probably more. The AirTrain is $5 and the subway is $2.25.

Newark: This is tricky. It's not for the faint of heart. But if you are vigilant, it's possible. Once you have left baggage claim, look out for an Air Shuttle bus that takes you directly to Newark Penn Station (not New York Penn Station- confused yet?). Cost is $6. Alternatively, you can take a local NJ Transit commuter bus that also takes you to Newark Penn Station, but hits all the local stops in "lovely" downtown Newark. Cost for that is about $2. Once you're at Newark Penn Station, catch a NJ Transit train that takes you to New York Penn Station. Cost is about $10. Alternatively, if your hotel is downtown, you can catch the PATH train that takes you either to Lower Manhattan (Financial District) or to the west side (from the West Village up to Herald Square- next to the big-ass Macy's). Cost is $2.00.

I have used all of the above routes!

There is no direct train connection to Grand Central from Newark! You would have to take NJ Transit to New York Penn Station and then the S train (subway) between New York Penn Station and Grand Central.

the train trip isn't that bad. Of course, I live on the A train in Brooklyn. Usually takes me about 20 minutes to get to the airport by A Train (door to Airtrain). Then, from my house to the times square is about another 30 minutes by A Train (door to AMC 25). sooo.... it's more like 45 minutes from the airport to the city.

But it's at least another 25 minutes on the Airtrain and the terminal connector. Plus you have to wait around for these connections. If you're traveling at night or on weekends, yeesh! Those trains run so infrequently. I'm on the west side of Manhattan, to make matters worse.

I sound like a total douche, but I don't really know Brooklyn at all. I just pretend it doesn't exist.

Thank you both so much!!!!!! Right now it's looking like Chicago to LGA is the best option. I'm definitely not taking a taxi if it costs that much. Yes I always have a crapload of luggage. I am not a New Yorker, but I found a very nice way from LGA to Manhattan that costs only $10-12 on a coach bus. At ground transportation in LGA look for the NYAS bus. There is one main terminal that is their home base, but it cycles through each one doing pick ups. The airport people are helpful for finding them, and the NYAS guys wear blue jackets and have little hand held ticket printers with them. Pay them cash, they print you a ticket and hop on the bus. The first stop in Manhattan is Grand Central. They say it goes onto Penn Station, but I have always gotten off at Grand Central because the driver is usually shouting something unintelligible about the transfer to Penn Station and I didn't want to risk it. I suppose if you asked the ticket seller what to do to get to Penn Station that would work. Then from Grand Central hop a cab or the subway!

It's very easy, even my directionally challenged brother could follow the same directions and managed to end up where he was going!

www.nyairportservice.com/ Don't buy a ticket ahead of time online - I've heard they will "lose it" or say "the system is down" and you'll be stuck. There is plenty of room on the buses and they run all day.

-Also, don't be afraid of luggage on the subway. I refused to use the subway with luggage at first, because I was afraid I'd be hissed at. I would just avoid it during rush hours and use a little hustle when going up the stairs and don't be afraid to bust through the handicapped gates to exit, the alarm goes off but every other person does this anyway an no cares!

LGA is my favorite airport. It's the closest. It's the smallest. It's the least frenetic. JFK is an absolute disaster!

I've only flown LGA once. It's so hard to get to and from and they lost my luggage. I"ve flown JFK bazillions of times and never lost my luggage. And super easy to get to via A Train. :P

Okay seeing Stevie on Oprah has gotten me really pumped for this show. What am I going to wear? :blob2: No Rhiannon dress this time but I definitely have to dress in homage. <3 Miss Nicks!

When I see her in Philly or A.C. I'll get decked out in my handkerchief skirt, shawl, and black suede platform boots. This time I'll be by myself and I dont think I have the guts to take the train and walk around NYC alone dressed in gypsy garb

I think you can also fly into Newark, NJ, take shuttle to Newark Penn Station, stay in the Hilton Hotel on top, and then take PATH in NYC close to wherever you need to go, then take taxi's if necessary, and then PATH back to Newark Hilton Hotel/Penn Station for trip out. Or something like that. The hotel may be cheaper than NYC too.

I can get a non-stop flight from Columbus to New York on Wed that will get me there at 10:30 a.m. It's the same price for LaGuardia and JFK. Which airport is easier and faster to take the airtrain from? Which airport do you guys prefer? I read that LaGuardia is smaller, but I also read that someone lost their luggage there. Any suggestions?

JFK is the only one with an AirTrain. But it's not a direct link into the city! You still have that interminable ride on the subway. I think LaGuardia is the way to go if everything else is equal. You'll save a lot of time (and money) by not checking luggage. Unless you are going overseas or traveling for over a week, you really shouldn't need to check luggage, IMHO.

You can get a direct ride from anywhere to anywhere... if you are willing to pay for it (taxi, limo, livery, etc.). But if you are using public transportation, the answer is "no."

Don't you want to drop your stuff off at the hotel first?

I wouldn't be carrying too much stuff, honestly. And if Dani and I stay at St. Marks, then it's just a few blocks walk from Webster. Most check ins around here aren't until 3 p.m.( and I'm assuming that's how it is there) so if my flight comes in at 10:30 a.m. I'd kind of have to just go hang out around the venue.

I'm just looking for the cheapest transportation possible, but I'm trying for something easy since I'm going by myself. Public transportation is kind of foreign in Ohio lol.

Even if you don't want to/can't check into your room, you can ask the hotel will hold your luggage for you. And most hotels nowadays try to accommodate you if you show up early. Guess it all depends on how busy the hotel is at that time.

I'd pick LGA over JFK in your circumstance too. You can probably find people to share a cab with so it would only cost you maybe 1/2 to 1/3 the going rate. I don't know if they organize that at all for you, but i'm sure many other people on your flight will be heading downtown.

Good luck!

Fly to LGA

get to the hotel and either have front desk hold your luggage or maybe they will check you in early

then take the walk to webster,

this way you will not be schlepping around w excess baggage, and you will be familiar with where the hotel is when you have to walk back late at night

Okay, just to fill everyone in, this is my plan so far:

Fly in March 2nd, sleep on dorm floor, go to the Today Show March 3rd, run around the city (hopefully with a personal tour guide who knows the area?), sleep on dorm floor, wake up, go to venue early, wait for Amber/check in time, go to the hotel and shower/hair/makeup for the night while Amber holds my spot (and vice versa), come back and wait some more, SEE STEVIE EFFING NICKS LIVE ON A TINY STAGE IN MANHATTAN, go party on my euphoria from the experience, eventually sleep, fly out the next day.

So. Freaking. Excited.

Also, if any Ledgies want to meet up, I'd love to meet all of you! We can do group lunch/dinner/etc or you can run around NYC with me on the 3rd

Just so you know, the last time I went to Stevie on the Today show in 2005, they cordoned off the "common people" back from the stage about 20 feet. About 20 minutes before her segment, they filled the front of the stage with various NBC people or people with special privileges (and a celebrity or two). Plus, if you're in the wrong spot, the camera guy will be right in your line of sight. I'm just warning ya, that's all. That being said, I must admit it was really cool to be outside in the middle of Rockefeller Center, watching Stevie perform and watching the traffic on the avenue behind her. It's a very "New York" experience.

Oh, and if you get there early enough (like 4AM), you can actually see them set up. Stevie was out there bundled up in a coat and her hair tied up in a bun without a stitch of makeup on. But you'll have to bring binoculars to see her at that point since they still hadn't allowed people into Freedom Plaza.

If you stay in Battery Park, you may as well stay in New Jersey. Battery Park is, like, another country. Are you talking about the Marriott Marquis in Times Square? That's not very close; you should try to find something on the east side. If you've got money to spend, and it seems like you do, go for the SoHo Grand or the TriBeCa Grand. And also check out the new Trump SoHo. But the most "happening" downtown hotels are probably The Standard and The Gansevoort, both of which are in the Meatpacking District- just a bus ride away from Webster Hall.

My experience as well. Thank goodness I was in the first row of "common people" so my view was excellent. I was still bummed that there was still a VIP section in front of us, especially since I was waiting and freezing since 3AM. My contacts didn't defrost from my eyeballs until the afternoon. Glad I did it once, and that there is film footage of me and my friend singing and smiling the whole time. :D

Sounds good! Waiting to see if Caitlin can get tickets. If she does then I'm going to fly in Monday and hitting the Today show too. Airfare is the same price to stay 3 nights rather than 1, so why not? God, my priorities are so messed up.

Just so everyone knows, I'm devastated I won't be in attendance (if I haven't intimated that enough already) but am very excited for those who will be there! It just seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity I'm going to miss out on :(. Well I feel I need a little sympathy!

You definitely have my sympathy.

But for what it's worth, I'm still insanely jealous that you got to hear most of the album siting in the same room as Stevie! Now that's once in a lifetime.;)

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of his. Something about his personality, or at least the way he comes off, seems a bit self-involved and just really turns me off. I do appreciate everything he's done with the album and promotion and especially how he has reinvigorated Stevie... but personally, I don't care for his music nor his voice, and don't like the narcissism that he reeks of.

So he's not for me, and I can't say that I would necessarily enjoy or be happy to hear that he was gonna be at a show I was attending :/ So I don't blame you.

So.. yes Dave, in regards to him being a friend to Stevie and helping her with production and writing aspects. No Dave in regards to him actually singing on the songs and being in the videos and performing with her.

The regrettable thing about twitter? People post things so quickly, they don't have to consider them.

Honestly, it's not great to tweet Dave that you don't want to see him. Obviously you have every right to feel that way (and you aren't the only one who does). But tweeting it to him directly probably wasn't the most considerate thing.

That said, I'm sure you meant no harm, and I myself will forever be putting my foot in my mouth for the things that spill out of my mouth. So I definitely won't judge...just gently advise you to be more careful in the future if you want to avoid the hate tweets (and who doesn't?) :)

You didn't get hate mail for being disappointed. You got hate mail for directly telling Dave Stewart that you didn't want him there and didn't like his contribution to her record. You blatantly bit the hand that has fed us countless pictures of Stevie, a shout out, an album trailer... it would be one of thing if you complained on your own without tagging him, but you replied to his tweet about Webster Hall and said "Nooo!!!! I just want Stevie... I didn't like you in Cheaper Than Free." After all he did for us fans over the last year...

Sorry, but that is disrespectful, rude and tasteless.

I for one am THRILLED Dave is going to be at the show:nod:. His contribution to this new record is immense, there's just no denying that. And it sorta confirms that Stevie will be doing many new songs from "In Your Dreams" - which I think is one of the reasons we're excited about this little fan show. Plus it practically guarantees Stevie will be in a sparkly mood, and in such a small venue, we undoubtably will get a glimpse into their immense fondness towards each other and some spontaneous moments to treasure.:) Can't wait to hear Cheaper Than Free and/or Everybody Loves You LIVE.:xoxo:

Everyone can have their own opinion, but tweeting directly that to him, you didnt expect a backlash from HIS fans???

YowsaH!!:o portiab44, gotta say, you have big balls to tweet that to his face:laugh:

Wrong. It takes no balls to tweet something to someone's face. Tweeting is not a confrontation--it is dangerously anonymous. That's why the Internet is a bastion for cowards and provides a medium for thoughtlessness and cruelty: there is no distance between reaction and utterance, but there is infinite distance between people.

Third-rate musician, self-professed Constitutional Law Expert John Legend recently tweeted a very insulting tweet, so I challenged him with arguments he couldn't even begin to answer because he really is a loudmouth, elitist, ignorant fool--and I WOULD do it to his face. I stand by my tweets.

portiab44: However, Dave Stewart made an announcement. He provided information. He didn't say to you or the fans: "Glad you already bought your tickets: cuz I'm gonna be there and they are non-refundable! hahaha! :-P" If he had, I'd have told you to rip him a new one for being so rude to Stevie's fans. He did not tweet in that spirit. And you should not have responded to him in the spirit in which you did.

I don't want to join a pile-on: another thing too easy to do on the Internet. But the problem of Internet decorum and decency is just out of bounds.

Dave Stewart is owed an apology--because that is just one of those gestures that keeps civilization from completely going off the rails.

I'm excited to be there and I let him know that...He replied ....."nice;)". So I'm looking forward to this a lot. He's done a lot for us,,,and yes,,I think he lifts Stevie's spirits....She was like a skipping elf when she came out last summer at Turning Stone..she had that sparkle and seemed so happy...Don't want to ruin that...Please...no more tweets to Dave or they may think we're ungrateful:((

I'm hoping that there's a chance I can meet up with you guys on 5/3 as well, but it's looking unlikely since I'm not getting back into town till late that night.

But....I'm just ecstatic that I will get to experience this with everyone. And since I'm planning on A/C, I can now head down there early and enjoy the day there.

My friend and I are doing the exact same thing! Heading to A/C on Thursday afternoon...where are you staying in A/C? Are you taking the train?

I'll probably drive down on Friday morning with my friend who I'm bringing with me whether she likes it or not! We did the same thing last August and had a wonderful time enjoying the day lounging out at the pool/bar and then at the concert.

I haven't booked a hotel yet, but I'll probaby stay at the Borgata Friday night. It's not cheap, but i'm splitting with with my friend so it's not completely obscene. I still have to buy tixs for A/C, but I think i got my eye on some floor seats for face value.

How about you? Where are you staying? I guess you are there for a few nights? I have never taken the train to A/C, but I heard it's not too bad. Not direct, but not too bad. Driving isn't too bad either as it takes between 2-2.5 hours from my place, provide the parkway isn't a construction zone/parking lot.

We're staying in NYC Wednesday night and then taking the train down midday Thursday to AC. :) We're staying at The Borgata Thursday & Friday nights. It is expensive Friday night :( ...but much cheaper Thursday! :) That's a great idea to hang out by the pool! Do you know if you stay at The Borgata if you have access to The Water Club?

Anyway, I've never taken the train to AC either. It will be nice to not have to worry about driving even though it isn't exactly direct. This is going to be such a fun "Stevie Vacation" !! :blob1:

I don't know about the pools. I've asked a coworker who is a frequent Borgata guest to give me the lowdown. So you are staying at the main Borgata? I've been debating whcih to do. It's $30 difference for the two for Friday night and so really only $15 since I'm splitting.

I'll let you know what I find out about the pools. Chances are it won't be warm enough for the outdoor pools, but I think i heard there are indoor ones. If not, there's always the spa!
