Does anyone reckon that Miley Cyrus is trying to changer her image yet again? This time, I think it is a good thing.
Her new tour is nicely named "The Gypsy Heart".
I find the whole Joan Jett really funny. She has been sporting Stevie Nicks shirts forever. Everyone has said that Stevie Nicks is her hero and yet, she claims Joan Jett is. I bet she got kicked for Sheryl Crow. I saw Miley talking to Stevie when the show was ending. Anyway, becuase of Miley, Joan Jett seemed to the most response on twitter and itunes than any of them.

I know Joan Jett and jet black go hand in hand together but I did like when she wore it blonde there for a spell and it looked really good on her for a change a few years back.

Whether she said that for Bella Donna or not, how does that show that she "always believed" (to quote Oprah/Stevie) she'd be doing this at 60, given than 10 years later she said she'd be quitting to paint?
- Jake I was taken back more on how you were talking about Stevie. That might flow with alot of people around here but not with me and that's why I stand by what I said. I don't think I've ever talked down about Stevie like that. That just really bugged me but oh well...

That would of been awesome! I hope our fellow Monger, Nikayla knows that we all think she did a great job with her facebook page to get the woman of rock on Oprah. Atleast Joan & Stevie made it on!
Speaking of Joan, maybe the reason Oprah wasn't 'all over her' like Pat was that Joan was all sweaty I bet! Maybe she had to leave early and that's why she wasn't a part of the finale.
Oh, & yes, Heart was FAB on 'The Talk' with performing two classic's and the sit down interview! That 'Barracuda' question is getting old, though!
I still beleive that someday Ann & Nancy will perform or record with Stevie!!
yes i agree i soo wish Heart would have been on Oprah too. i would just love it if stevie and heart toured together. i cant figure out why they havent. you figure stevie would fit right in with Heart. it would be alot better than Rod Stewart, ha!! i really liked them on The Talk but I cant stand them asking about Barracuda again. if i had to answer that question as many times as they have i would have killed somebody by now, ha ha!

My mom thought she looked tired. I said, 'well, she is 63...'.
Her reply, 'She still looked tired.'
I think she looked a little decadron puffy, to be honest.

Unfortunately, I think the harsh spotlight/dark backdrop lighting during the sit down interview did Stevie no favors. She would have looked a little better had the whole stage been lit up some more I think. But ultimately, as I feared, being on the road 3 weeks showed up on Stevie's face. She did not look as rested as she sometimes does. This concerns me a little as she ramps up towards the May media bliz and TV appearances, that she has had practically no down time. I mean she is 62/63, she's not a spring chicken, and all that traveling, no matter how pampered she is, will take its toll. Overall, I look at it as Stevie more or less authentically looking her age:nod:, none of that tight face-lift look of celebs like Cher, Naomi Judd:rolleyes:, or Pricilla Presley:shocked:!! And I'm fine with that, because I think it really shows the character Stevie has deep down. I just wish she had been a little more rested for the Oprah Show, but overall, she looked great considering everything. Because as much as we hate to admit it, MaMa is getting older, she's 2 yrs younger than my mom, and I'm starting to see the same aging in Stevie that I see in my 64/65 yr old gemini mom. I think in 09' - her appearance on Jimmy Fallon's Late Night Show - I really took note of that reality.

Stevie is old. No denying it, but when she smiles her face looks better. She's got a great smile. She reminds me of Lady and the Tramp dog. It's fine with me. Makes this album more touching to me. She's not doing the plastic stuff like a lot of other ladies, but if she wants a longer career she might change that. Even Jane Fonda changed her toon about plastic surgery because she said her face did not represent what she fealt like inside. I think Stevie comes off as tired. Still, she looks beautiful, not plastic pulled so

But I'm probably not the only one who still remembers feeling upset back in (August? September?) 1991 when she did that national radio interview for TimeSpace & declared (in between rants about Mick & rights to "Silver Springs) that she would be gradually easing herself entirely out of the music business over the next 5 years so she could work as a painter. That felt like a slap in the face to those of us who stood by her during the Klonopin years (not that we knew about the Klonopin itself) and were hoping for better music & performances in the future.
Whether she said that for Bella Donna or not, how does that show that she "always believed" (to quote Oprah/Stevie) she'd be doing this at 60, given than 10 years later she said she'd be quitting to paint?
Hey there, Jake. :wavey:
1991 was right in the middle of the Klonopin Years -- by all accounts, she was miserable, un-inspired & lethargic. I'm sure she was looking at the near future and thinking she wouldn't be able to physically manage for much longer.
So I don't think comments made at the lowest point in her life, with her judgment severely impaired by a tranquilizer addiction, necessarily negate the statements she made when she was clear-headed, that she'd be touring & recording into her 60s.

YES, Stevie has always had a beautiful smile:) It will be interesting to see if Stevie succumbs to to a full face-lift, I don't think she will, simply due to the fact, when she gets around to the next FM thing (tour and/or album) I think she will not want to look 10 to 15 years younger standing next to the rest of the band.:p But you never know. And your probably right if she wants a decade longer career, considering the whole agism bigotry in our country, she will need to step up her enhancements:shrug: and there is also the whole other issue of how much longer can her voice hold on.
I personally think Stevie looks fine, but I'm also aware that the general media viewing public is quick to dismiss her as looking old/tired and therefore irrelevant. It sucks, but it is reality.

You know that totally happened! And Sheryl came through in the end. Stevie probably stipulated doing O only if Sheryl was going to join her on the performance. Stevie undoubtably learned her lesson with the Taylor Swift disaster, not wanting a repeat of singing with someone she's not too familiar or comfortable with.Totally:nod:. And while Miley may be a Joan Jett fan, I wasn't buying into it too much either. Miley has sung Stevie & FM praises many times, and has lately been seen sporting Stevie style clothes in TV performances & wearing the classic "Don't Blame It On Me" T-shirt. But the dead giveaway is Mileys current tour and album titles: The Gypsy Heart Tour & "Can't Be Tamed" album title as in B&TB's "My love is a man who's not been tamed". Miley has been listening to, and influenced lately by somebody else's Wild Heart.;)

Well, Miley did perform a very similar medley of Joan's songs on her own tour about a year ago... so I'm sure she is a fan and isn't just phoning it completely...
However, I tend to agree with the sentiment that she was booted off of Landslide for Sheryl. Especially since Miley said she'd be covering Landslide on her upcoming The Gypsy Heart Tour. Of all the rockers there, Sheryl really seemed the most out of place to me because she is awkwardly in between the two generations they were showcasing. I thought it was kind of obvious she was there because she was Stevie's friend lol..

It wasn't a nice thing to say at all, but on the other hand, Stevie looked so cute trying to defend herself. Maybe by being an obsessed fan I can't put myself into the position of an average viewer who doesn't particularly care about Stevie, but I could NEVER found her guilty of saying those words. She looked so surprised, and had a child like innocence in her eyes saying: "I did not... Sheryl Crow!". God I love this woman :)
ya, she was adorable, how she reacted.

It struck me as weird too. Sheryl has been around almost 20 years herself. She's only 3 years younger than Joan Jett.

i haven't heard anything of her tour, but when she sang with joan jett i thought she did that kind of harder rock well. i wouldn't mind seeing her go a little towards that style. the "bad reputation" lyrics made my tween daughter look at me with big, surprised eyes, like, uh-oh, is mum gonna not let me listen to miley anymore for being too sassy, lol. my daughter's not a big fan of hers, but she likes a few songs. she's more into miranda cosgrove.
what i thought was adorablly funny and cute is a little special-needs kiddo i care for was over and he was glued to the tv when stevie was on. and after she was done he kept asking for more of her. so, stevie has a new young fan! he kept saying "the other one, the other one" while joan, pat, and everyone was on.

Hi, Johnny.
I never said those comments negate her earlier ones, just that they show she was not consistent in her thinking. If she wants to blame the drugs for changing her thinking in the Klonopin days, that's perfectly fine, but she shouldn't pretend that the thinking (as reflected in interviews) didn't change, is all I'm saying.

I had gottena little bored of her always doing it but enough changes were made to keep it fresh, Stevie is in GREAT voice right now! Also, as a big Sheryl fan this is by far the best I've ever heard them sound together. I think they've finally fingured out what part Sheryl should do.

Thanks so much for posting this clip, Stevie & Sheryl were great together singing Landslide, loved the photos & clips of Stevie the Rock Goddess, that was so cool.... Also just wondering did Stevie sing Secret Love on Oprah??? I hope it soon airs here in Australia, requiring some serious promotional work before In Your Dreams is released here in 19 days.. I'm yet to even hear Secret Love played on the Radio...

Secret love didn't air on the show, you had to go to Oprah.com to watch it afterward. I heard Secret Love in Kohls dept. store yesterday, and of all places in the procedure room where I just had an endoscopy right before they gave me anesthesia on Friday! Yes I understand.yes I've been reading and hearing the same thing too.Landslide,Standback and Dreams are her staple songs. The reguler public knows these tunes. If she was going to do odd tunes like "Nightbird" or "After The Glitter Fades" that we know.the public will say "I never heard of that song" We heard that song a million times on tour.I hope she will do the new stuff on the today show and any other tv appearances that are coming up.

I've been thinking, maybe the reason she performs Landslide and Standback so often on these types of shows is because they're short songs; especially in comparison to her others. I mean, she couldn't exactly sing Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman or Edge without cutting out a lot.

Landslide has stood the test of time so well, becuase she has championed the song. Other artists have rerecorded it, but had Stevie championed Leather and Lace, I bet the same thing would of happened.
She sings those songs becuase they are easy to sing. But she can sing Leather and Lace fine. There is nothing wrong with her voice on that song. A song she might try to bring to the forefront is Crystal. Its in the same vein.

she's not "one note". she was on a mass market TV show. not like she could pull out Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You. she had to satisfy the producers, Oprah, and O's audience. she did sing her new single. proof positive that it goes to the presumed audience that they posted it on the website. people want the familiar. we rabid fans want Stevie to mix it up.

I feel bad saying it, I feel bad feeling it, but I have been sick of Landslide since like The Dance era. I used to love it back in the day. Between her singing it on tv shows so much since then, hearing it all the time on the radio during The Dance era, the Dixie Chics (ugh!) and everything, and even now she does it so often. I might have even preferred hearing Dreams on Oprah, or Sara, or Gypsy. Weren't those all popular too? But at least she was on Oprah. So Sheryl could embarrass her and make her feel like a heel. ;)

I feel the same way. It's like she doesn't try to get other songs going. If she kept doing them on tour and on tv shows, they'd become new classics. If you can't create new classics for the general audience, not to be mean, but, well, if it were anyone other than Stevie Nicks, I'd say, is it time to give it up? If the record company and the artist don't purposely put at least one song per cd out there in the limelight, what's the point? I feel mean saying it. I'd want Stevie to write forever. But not limit herself and feel she has to put herself in some time capsule and that's the only way she'll get recognition. I'd think she'd want to be seen as a current star, not a "the once loved, once super popular, Stevie Nicks." Between her solo and FWM cd's shouldn't she have at least like 13 classic hits that she could pick and choose here or there to play? Not the same 2-3, or one (Landslide)? What about Talk To Me, If Anyone Falls, Leather and Lace, Sara, Gypsy, Rooms on Fire, etc. ?

I am not sure what the holdup is but I suspect maybe they have a lot of pics to send to the various people who went backstage. I will post them as soon I get them.
Matt
Thanks for the update Matt.

Does anybody know or can find out when Oprah's OWN channel will run the behind the sceens show with Stevie's appearance on the channel.

One of my coworkers told me around the time that the show aired that the latest OWN behind the episode was the Oprah's Favorite Things Episode. That makes me think that there is still a little while to go before we see the Rock Legends episode.

FYI
I was watching the OWN behind the scenes episode for the Rock Goddesses show and I am shown in the episode briefly. First there is a scene when one of the producers is talking about how successful the show was and while she talks you can see me sitting in a chair waiting backstage to meet Stevie. The shot is from behind the producer so you do not see my face just my backside. Also there is a shot where they show Oprah walking backstage and their is a room filled with pictures and that was where the stars were hanging out before meeting their nuumber 1 fans. As she she is shown walking into the room you can see me and my guests sitting in the chairs waiting. My brother is the one you see the most as it is a blink and you will miss it shot of us. He is wearing blue. My sister is the one who called me and said that there is a shot of us backstage. I had already seen the episode and never noticed it so I had to watch it again.

I am so envious but also so happy for you Nicksfan. I think those pics are incredible and really show the Stevie we love: gracious and warm, and also stunning, The woman truly photographs so well that even in candid, untouched photos she looks radiant and much younger thanshe really is. Anyways, that must have been incredible for you and how awesome to end up with such great pics to remember it by!

+1, great picts!!! I remember meeting her at a Chicago radio station during TISL promotion and she was so short!!! She also had no gloves on at that time and the softest hands I've ever felt. Her skin was so pale and porcelein, like a China doll. She truly does NOT look her age at all. More like 40 ish!!
Thanks for sharing the photos.
