Soo I didn't get to meet her on oprah, but after the show me and my friend ( her name is Stevie too lol) went sightseeing in downtown Chicago:) so we were up at the John Hancock tower and I saw on twitter that she was spotted at RL ( Ralph Lauren restaurant) with Sheryl crow! So me and Stevie rushed down there cause it was only two blocks away. We were just gonna go in and casually sit down but it was a small restaurant and it was packed! I asked the hostess If I could use the bathroom to get a better look around and as Soon as I passes the hostess station I saw waddy and the whole band , and then Stevie with Sheryl and her kids! We didn't want to interrupt her dinner so we went outside and waited for her... As Soon as she came out I asked if I could get my picture with her and she said she just got dine with dinner and she really didn't feel up to pics she was exhausted and she had a show tomorrow but then she said she would sign my tambourine I had been carrying all day ( since I was hoping to meet her @ oprah) and I told get how awesome she was on oprah, she said , oh you were there!? And I said yea I loved your duet with Sheryl and she said well them your in for a treat tomorrow! ( I told her I was going to concert tomorrow with her and rod) and then she said thank you see you tomorrow! It was very short but so glad I got my tambo signed!

Wow!!!! What a great story Portia!! Thanks for sharing. That is so COOL. Have fun tonight at the show. Ugh, hearing that Sheryl is going to be there is making me want to go more and more, because I'm sure it's going to be amazing. But I just don't think I can afford it. :( I absolutely want to see her after In Your Dreams is released and she tours, but I don't think I can afford to do both... although I keep looking at last minute tickets. haha Where are you sitting tonight?

OK

Here is what happend. Stevie was on first and sang Landslide during which Sheryl Crowe came out and joined her. She was interviewed along with Sheryl and topic discussed included babies, the overnight success of rumours, being an older singer and still peforming. She did tell stories of how during the Rumours tour she and Chris were carfeully watched by the entourage of security guards so they usually just hung out in the hotels, but the guys went off to do who knows what and nothing else was said.

Stevie was the only one who got a sit don interview. All the others just performed and then were briefly spoken too by Oprah.

Joan Jett was next with Miley Cyrus as the surprise guest who sang with her on a medley of her hits.

Salt N' Peppa was next and they just sang with no surprise guest and Oprah talked to them.

Pat Benetar came after them and sang with Love is A Battlefield with Avril Lavigne.
She was asked about her admiration for Pat and Stevie and she said something about the fact that they followed their dreams and made it in the music world and that it was inspiring etc.

Then the big finale was Sister Sledge singing with almost all of the other guests "We are Family"

The show was over but for an oprah.com exclusive they filmed Stevie Nicks singing Secret Love.

I was the lucky one who got vip reserved seats and a backstage Meet and Greet with Stevie. She gave me two autograph's as a present one was a standard publicity photo the other a reprint of some Rhiannon drawing with words on the back. She confirmed that she was going to be playing in Glastonbury and looking to play some places that she had not visited in a while. Naturally I asked her to return to Ottawa. While in the back I saw Pat (Who said to my sister Nice Shoes). Sheryl and her baby were mingling as was Sister Sledge. Oprah walked by and shook our hands.

During a break in filming she took questions from the audience and my brother asked her what her first live concert was and she said James Brown in 1968 when she was 14. She remarked how she lost her shoes at the concert and her father was mad.

Matt

thanks Matt, I'm was going to post how the show was but you've said it all..it was a great show and a great experience to have been there....:)
At the end of the show when they were all on stage (other then Joan Jett, guess she had to leave) Oprah reached over and took Stevie's hand, it was very sweet. Oprah was singing along to Secret Love and I was surprised that she knew all the words then I realized she was reading the words from the monitor lol

Haha, that's interesting that she was reading words from the monitor. I've always kind of wondered how she seemed to always know the words to her guests' songs... The secret is revealed! haha No, but that's still pretty cool. Glad you had a good time! I'm so excited! I can't wait for Wednesday to get here! :blob1:

Well, she is roughly 45 years her senior...

It'd be a little strange if they looked the same age.

What matters is that Stevie can STILL outsing Miley any day (and this is actually coming from a really big Miley fan).

And Miley is ugly too...with all that money she should fix that Mr. Ed mouth of hers...

...and people flip out when someone says something mean about Stevie on Perezhilton

Now I am no fan of Miley Cyrus, but whats the deal? Who cares if she's on with Stevie. She has certainly become a huge star.

Ok...now this is a relief:nod:. Thanks for the new information.
Sooooo envious you were there to witness it live! YAY!! Stevie sang 2 songs!!
How was Stevie in the Interview? and Secret Love?

The interview was ok. Nothing new really. She totally downplayed how much she partied. Made it sound like her and Christine were very sheltered and went back to their room and watched movies after the show. Talked about how she stays looking young - always washes her make up off, washes her face three times a day, massages her face, uses La Mer.

Secret Love was really good. Stevie was really into it. I was close enough that I wanted to tell her I couldn't wait for her new album to come out but you could tell she was getting into the moment to perform.

thank you so much for sharing! sheryl sang landslide with her? did stevie have a decent length interview with Oprah?

Yes, Sheryl did Landslide with her. Came out about a quarter of the way through. About a 10 minute interview but I would imagine it will be edited down. It was only Stevie and Oprah at first and then they brought Sheryl out too.

So did Stevie talk much about her new album?? I hope they atleast said a few things about it. Thanks for all the info! I can't wait to see the show :)

No, she did not say anything about the new album. Oprah just mentioned that it was called In Your Dreams and would be out May 3rd. They didn't discuss it in the interview. A wasted opportunity for some promotion, if you ask me.

Did Oprah seem like she knew her music?

I don't know. I wasn't watching Oprah while Stevie was performing. Really though, who doesn't know Landslide.

Yay for Matt! And YAY for Stevie's special treatment! Sounds awesome!

Oh, it's spelled "BenAtar"... ;)

Sorry.

What is Stevie's footwear? Sandals?

No, she had her boots on with the legwarmers over them.

For those that attended, How did Stevie sound on Landslide? I know she can sing this song in her sleep, but did she add anything extra to this performance vocally, How did Stevie look? Any surprises in wardrobe or did she have her boots on?details pretty please.:)

She sounded good on Landslide. Nothing new on it, really. I'm pretty tired of Landslide, tbh. She looked good. Nothing that looked noticeably new in the wardrobe. Same old. She said Margi Kent makes all her clothes. Yes, she had the boots on.

I can't wait to see the show air. I'm interested to see how it is edited. To everyone that was there, I'm glad you all had a great time. I know I did!

camchristo-Thanks for taking the time to respond to our questions.:) Sounds like the interview was far from earth shattering, I mean, I wash my face 3x a day use La Mer...etc., ick! But I guess that inside beauty tidbits thing is what Oprah's demographic eats up:rolleyes: And color me a little surprised that Stevie downplayed and didn't reveal a little more on her colorful past, especially considering her recent interview with UK's The Guardian:shocked: And really, after her statements of the last year recording In Your Dreams with Dave at her house, being near the best year of her life - I'm really surprised nothing was mentioned on the making of the new record! (wasted opportunity) Oh well, its exposure nonetheless, and look forward to watching. I was just hoping for a really special interview. From the sounds of it, I'd better keep my expectations in check.

Matt said just about everything I can think of so I'll add in my 2 cents. The theme of the show seemed to be Queens of rock(music) with younger artists who consider them their idols. ex. Miley with her Idol Joan Jett Avril with Pat. When Matt and I met Stevie I asked her if it was true that she was playing Glastonbury and she said yes. She said In Your Dreams is her "rumours" album, and that for the tour they will or would like (I forget) to play a lot of places they don't normally get to. She mentioned Europe, but that could just be these 2 shows. I mentioned how solo she hadn't played Ottawa in 22 years at our exhibition fair. (That's what prompted her to tell me the above.) I think (fingers crossed) she might do a short europe tour in June or July then she will play usa/canada in the late summer/fall. During the taping they mentioned how Sheryl was 5 years cancer free. Sheryl said "that Stevie said something like you can't have kids cause you write bad songs." and Stevie was all "I never said that hey lol."

It was an amazing time but my only complain is that miley and avril sounded ok (vocally) when singing next to their idols. ex. PAT B is so talented. Avril I like but her chops are not as strong as Pats. (just sayin) Pat,Joan, and Stevie talked about sexism and having to break through in a male domimated world. Pat talked about guys being all "sit on my lap (kissing noise) and I'll play your record. Stevie told the stories of being a waitress and house cleaner, and how for 1 day Lindsey was a telemarketer. LOL.

She played a short video about Stevies history, then called her out. Sheryl did talk about how she and stevie first met. etc.

No problem. It was really weird cause she usually rambles on and on about how she has a whole in her nose from coke and how Klonopin almost killed her. Maybe she was just referring to sleeping around, i.e. the groupie question. But she really made it seem like her and Christine were pretty innocent. I know about the album talk. She didn't even mention Dave Stewart. Stevie said nothing about the new album at all, that I can recall. It was just Oprah mentioning the name of it and when it comes out. Stevie needs a lesson in self-promotion.

Sheryl said that Stevie told her not to have kids and Stevie was all, "I did not! Sheryl Crow, I did not say that. You are in trouble." Sherly never backpedaled on that.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. The dates make more sense now. :)

I hope you had a great time too! It will be very interesting for you to see how they edit. I went to a Leno taping last year and when I watched it back just a few hours later, they definitely cut and reordered some things. It's cool to watch it though and know how it really went down.

Was there any evidence that they were taping anything for Oprah's behind the scenes show?

yes, at one point a couple of the producers came out when the stage was being changed and she said it was being filmed for the behind the scenes show...also whoever asked what stevie was wearing..she was wearing the same outfit she wore for the saturday night show..sigh...nothing ever changes...

Guess she was cleaning up her act for a daytime audience. I'd be interested to see how prim she'd become for Regis and Kelly.

"Well, you know Reeg, I lived at home with my parents until my father passed away."

Of course, the security guards probably DID keep a close eye on Christine and Stevie -- because they were sleeping with them!

In one of the limo tapes, Stevie is complaining that she was alone in her room alone and Christine or Mick says that they were doing something and she demands to know why they didn't call her. She spent the night trying to get a dress ironed or something. If she didn't have a few quiet days in those years, I suppose the hole in her nose would be the size of a half dollar.

A kind soul out there will have to rip this into a file and upload it to mediafire or some other file distribution site. Oprah is notorious for removing copyrighted material from YouTube like a hawk.

I know - it's infuriating! She doesn't even have episodes on her official site. How are people supposed to see them if they're not in the US? I would happily view them on her official site if I could.

I can understand why she's careful about youtube--having worked in television I've seen how the internet is killing the industry. She has every right to protect her material.
But it makes me nutty that she doesn't post full eps online or at least sell them on iTunes. There are a number of eps I would pay good money to see--what's the sense in making them basically inaccessible?

Good luck to those outside the US--I'm afraid I have no idea how shredding works or I would try to do it myself.

Oh I absolutely agree. As I said, I have no problem watching episodes on any official site at all. I agree about youtube and while I of course will watch stuff there I won't be too annoyed if it's not there because there are valid reasons not to do it. As you say though, making them totally inaccessable is another thing and that's what bugs me. Oh well, never mind.

I'm sure it will and I hope they give a description too because I don't ever watch Behind the Scenes.

That's great! I really hope it makes it into an episode. Was anyone on here interviewed for any behind the scenes footage?

And was there any reference to the fact that the audience was filled with people who wrote in and campaigned to be there?

I think some of the footage will. There was a time when they were switching out sets and two of the producers were having an argument on stage. One of the main stage dudes asked them to please take their argument off the stage so they could get the set changed out and the behind the scenes people were following with their mics. At one point, Oprah was thanking the audience for their patience with the length of the show. She said they usually film a show in an hour but it was taking a lot longer because of the changing of the sets. My friend said "No problem, it's totally worth it" and Oprah said, "I know, it is, isn't it?" And the camera/mic crew filmed that exchange.

There were no "interviews" with anyone that I saw during the taping but there might have been some back stage stuff that went on. I would imagine there would be.

No mention at all about how the audience was chosen. In fact, listening to people talk in the waiting area, I would say a majority of the people there were NOT there for any of the guests. They were just there because they had been trying to get tickets to Oprah forever. They were there because they loved Oprah, not Stevie or Joan or Pat. A shame.

Guess she was cleaning up her act for a daytime audience. I'd be interested to see how prim she'd become for Regis and Kelly.

I'm sure some savvy person will be able to record this and upload for you. I would but I am not at all technically gifted.

On a side note, the producers were telling us what to do up front and said that at the end, they wanted us singing and dancing like crazy. They said that the crowd behind us would be watching us and would do what we did. For Landslide, they had the crowd wear these blue finger lights and wave their hands in the air. CHEESY. However, they figured out that the hands in the air were blocking their shots and we were told to put our hands down. They told us not to wear the finger lights until "We are Family". At that point, we had to put on four finger lights. Blue, red, green and white. I'm curious to see how that looks. Hopefully not too stupid. :o

They are on OWN. I have seen some and they seem to typically trail the actually airing of the show by at least a few weeks.

But given that the talk show is winding down maybe the wait won't be so long. I think, don't quote me, the new ones air on fri nights.

Edit: Oops, looks like the new episodes are Sundays.

OPL employee’s inspiration from Stevie Nicks’ music strikes perfect note with Oprah Winfrey Show
Posted in Employee recognition, Health and wellness

The power of music can take us back to special moments and people or help us to overcome difficult times. For Ottawa Public Library employee, Matthew Denison, Stevie Nicks’ music has been an inspirational force in changing his life.
Over their 30 years, Matthew and his twin brother have coped with learning disabilities, stuttering, and seizures. They also have experienced difficulties in making friends and finding employment. Stevie Nicks’ music has been a source of inspiration and motivation for Matthew, especially her 1986 single Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You. He attributes the powerful and inspirational messages in her songs in helping him carry on and overcome adversity.

As part of her talk show’s final season, Oprah Winfrey asked fans to suggest potential guests who have never appeared over the show’s 25 years. That call to action had Matthew sending an e-mail to the show’s producers to plead his case for the former Fleetwood Mac singer, Stevie Nicks. After reading his e-mail, Oprah Winfrey’s staff wanted to know more about his story. Furthermore, Oprah’s website has requested to hear from all fans of Stevie Nicks and more specifically why they want to meet the singer.

To further the chances of making his dream a reality, Matthew and his older sister also launched a Facebook campaign to help get on the show and meet the artist that has touched his life. We’re thrilled to report that all of Matthew’s hard work and determination has paid off. His wish to pay tribute to Stevie Nicks takes flight today as he makes his way to Chicago. And he will be front and centre tomorrow at the Oprah Winfrey Show taping headlined by a singer who has struck a powerful and positive note in his life.

Check out the show on Wednesday, April 13 and see how this story ends and a dream comes true.

What a great story!! Very inspirational. I like to see more stories like this. City of Ottawa employees are hard and dedicated workers. They are also individuals who have dreams and aspirations. People with lives outside of work. It is refreshing to see another side of a city employee. In The Loop – Keep up the great work!

I'm just back from a wonderful Chicago weekend with the girls. Well, it looks like everyone has given you a very full update . I only have a few things to add. Stevie held Sheryl's hand for the whole part of the sit down interview after Sheryl came out. Sheryl said Stevie was one of the first people she called when she got her breast cancer diagnosis and Stevie jumped in and added that she told Sheryl "You are NOT going to die from cancer!" It looked like Sheryl got a little emotional at that point. Oprah added it's all about attitude... When Stevie denied having told Sheryl not to have children because it would make her stop writing songs, Stevie said it with that same voice that she used when she was arguing with Lindsey in the Destiny Rules doc. Stevie was adamant. I wonder if this will get edited out.

Oprah asked Stevie when she knew she was famous, was it at the Rumours grammy show? Stevie said that night was awful and then there was a long pause. I wish Oprah had jumped in there and got Stevie to explain why, but Stevie back pedaled and went into her semi -rehearsed stories . I thought a lot of the interview was the same old thing but it was great to see the back and forth with Sheryl. I wished they had talked about the new cd.

I thought Stevie and Sheryl did a great job on Landslide and Secret Love was fantastic.

Pat Benatar put on a great performance. She still has that voice.

My friend got her rock and roll makeover. She looked great. She got to say hello to Sharon Celani and Lori Nicks in the make-up room. She said Sharon was really sweet. Unfortunately the makeovers won't get much air time if any because the show ran so long. I hope they will show some of them on the behind the scenes show. They were taping for that too. I do not know when it will air.

I got to say hello to Stevie when she was leaving. I was not chosen to meet her like Matt (lucky you!) but I was in the right place at the right time as she was leaving. She smiled and was absolutely stunning. There was a little white dog with them running around without a leash. Is this Karen's dog? Very Cute, he seemed to know right where to go.

My friend caught up to Stevie outside and asked her to sign a Buckingham Nicks album but she said no because she couldn't stand in the rain (It was overcast but not raining). I guess she is quite a diva! Disappointed she wouldn't sign the album but we had a really great time! No complaints.

LOL.

That is funny about Lindsey working as a telemarketer for only one day. He probably started doing his little but LONG stories that he does on stage and they tend to drag on and on. People probably hung up on him.

Wow the exact same thing happened to me when i saw her at RL restaurant...she had a huge black fur coat on and when i asked to have my picture taken with her one of her responses was she couldnt be out in the cold weather...(i was thinking really? it takes 2 seconds and i just spent my life savings to come see you) but she did agree to sign my tambourine so i guess that made up for it a little LOL but she went in the car, and i guess it was Karen? that took my tambourine and handed it to stevie in their limo...i was talking to her while she signed it though...but yea i definitely felt like she was a little bit of a diva!

With the way Stevie wears gloves and is so concerned about being out in the cold weather, I'm wondering if she might have Raynaud's Syndrome? I have a friend that has it and she doesn't like to be out in cold weather nor rainy weather since it affects her hands and she's always wearing gloves or long sleeved jackets, sweaters to cover her hands.

I do agree that Stevie could be a true diva too. She's had a really nice life for a long time now.

Everyone who has been posting who wasn't there is full of ****. I was there, seated in the second row, 3 ft from the stage. Stevie opened with landslide. Sheryl crow came out and sang with her. Stevie had a sit down interview with Oprah. Then joan Jett with Miley Cyrus. Salt n Pepa. Pat Benetar with Avril lavigne. Sister sledge. Everyone came back onstage with sister sledge. then Stevie came back on and closed with secret love. It was awesome. Stevie was the only one with a sit down interview and two spots.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing the entire performance of Secret Love. Chances are we will get a few seconds of it as the credits roll. I hope I'm wrong.

I really liked the performance and interview. Yes, we have heard Landslide a million times and heard about show she was a cleaning lady billions of times, but it was done well. It wasn't even the performance so much that I liked, but just the fact she was on the show. What a proud moment for her. Her songs will out live her and I think she really values that at this time in her life.

I have been watching Oprah Behind the Scenes since it started and the producers really stressed that to be on the final season the guest HAS to be something special. So, the fact that Stevie was on in the final season is awesome.

Mac fan are you going to the webster hall show on the 4th? I would love to go but money is still not there at the time and she will be sold out with the presales I am sure only 1500 tickets available at $110 its an awesome deal and wonderful if she will perform the in your dreams in it's entirety that would be awesome.

She received two segments people, while the others got a quick little interview. This was great exposure for our girl. I had no problem with her doing “Landslide.” It only made sense that she was going to sing something well known and universal. I also thought Stevie was in excellent voice. They had to edit it just a tad for the length of the show of course but you could tell Stevie nailed it. The hand waving was a bit cheesy but that wasn’t Stevie’s fault. UGH! That’s my only beef. Overall, great show.

It was almost perfect. If she only had the whole hour. You could tell that Oprah was interested and that Stevie had great stories to tell. I saw one photo from the montage that I had never seen of her before. During the Tusk era and wearing a red dress. What a great show. And Secret Love on the Oprah website is the best.

You know, you are right. Oprah said she was glad Stevie chose Landslide as if she knew other songs Stevie could of chosen. She was interested in her. I think she liked her.

what do you think stevie whispered in miley's ear right at the end?~

i thought the whole show was great~ tho i watched for stevie, i grew up w/ every one of these artists & it was great to see them celebrated~ i loved watching the older black women getting down to salt & peppa, just like they used to back in the day~ joan jett was awesome & so was pat benatar, i have always loved those ladies~

but stevie, was a class act & she was funny~ loved 'landslide' & how she sounded w/ sheryl~ seeing OP sing along was wonderful!!!~

Thank you SO much for this!! I was having audio problems but the majority of the video was absolutely fine. I really appreciate this. I loved Stevie's shock - " I did NOT!!" - She really couldn't believe that! Maybe not the best thing for Sheryl to mention in case it kicked off the whole Sheryl in FM argument again but Stevie's reaction was just priceless!

She is! I worked at Borders Books for awhile about 11 years ago when her Book Club was just starting. Everytime she recommended a new title for her club, we would SELL OUT, and within weeks it would be on the NY Times Bestseller list.

Oprah really has been the best PR for the last decade. A vast majority of the people who still buy books, CD's and movies are bored housewives...who watch Oprah.

Here are my thoughts:

Although Stevie clearly had makeup on, didn't it seem like she was missing mascara?

The lighting during the interview was wierd - like a spot light was on them. Stevie looked ok, but could've looked better with better lighting. When I saw her just this last february in a room with natural light she looked 10x better.

During the interview, she seemed nervous, but sure of herself at the same time. It didn't help that you could tell the interview was chopped up in the editing process.

Landslide- she sounded nervous to me at first, but downright nailed it after she got to the halfway point.

Overall, great exposure. I guess I just wish Stevie didn't hate doing TV stuff so much - but I can't blame her.

This was much better than I expected.
I was pleasantly surprised that Oprah, a big Tina Turner fan, called Stevie the Queen of Rock.
And hey, they made it through the whole segment with only one mention of Stevie’s drug addictions & no mention of her weight loss in the 1990s. So different from her other daytime talk appearances. Bravo.

On the other hand, I’m disappointed that so little attention was paid to the new album. And that Stevie did not get to discuss her visits with & songs for the troops. I think the Oprah audience would have eaten that up.

When Stevie started her old spiel about working jobs to support Lindsey – this time in front of a huge TV audience – I imagined Lindsey screaming at the TV like Billy Crystal in “Throw Momma from the Train”, when ex-wife Kate Mulgrew sat next to Oprah mean-mouthing him.:lol:

Stevie did not seem nervous for this interview, & I suspect Sheryl had a lot to do with that.

BTW, the lighting people sure kept Sharon & Lori in the shadows for “Secret Love”.

Great show in general - enjoyed seeing everyone (really like Pat and Joan, too) ...not so sure Avril (who I do like) and Miley (yuck) fit in, but Sheryl did a good job, as usual, imho, with Stevie... Joan really looked to me like she stepped right out of 1989 (a complement...)

Stevie is leagues above everyone else...she looked and sounded fantastic...and was quite amusing in the q&a ... but really? She's been doing Dreams since the very first FM tour? : ) that's ok, we forgive...

and ... uh...there were only 4 Sledge Sisters up there, sister?????

So, it looked to me like Stevie was really shocked and upset at what Sheryl said lol!

I agree with you! She didn't look that thrilled that Sheryl said that even if she was joking about it.

I felt Oprah sort of dissed Joan Jett once she was done talking to her. I watched it over and over again last night and well, I get a feeling that Oprah kept hugging Miley and ignored Joan  so maybe, that's why Joan left soon after and didn't mingle with the rest of the gals. It looked sort of awkward to me with Joan standing there and Oprah is having a lovefest with Miley.

Wondering why Pat Benatar was sitting for her whole segment as she sang and talked with Oprah and Avril? Even when Oprah came to talk to her after they sang she never got up from her chair. I love the fact that she has been with her husband for over 30 years!!!!

Too many questions. haha Stevie was wonderful though and it was great to see her and Sheryl having fun as friends. Oprah seemed to really like Stevie too!!

I totally agree with you about the Joan Jett and Miley Cyrus thing. I thought it seemed like an awkward interaction all around. Oprah just kept hugging Miley and it seemed like Joan was just kind of standing there almost in the background.

I'm not a huge Avril Lavigne fan, but I thought she did seem very gracious and appreciative to have been included in the show (as I think both she and Miley should feel! I mean... what an HONOR to be included in a show honoring the women legends of Rock 'n' Roll?!)

Naturally, I think all of us Stevie fans would of course have hoped the entire show would have been completely focused on our enchanting gypsy queen of rock, but regardless, I'm so happy Stevie was finally on Oprah. And I think someone mentioned it before but, based on watching those Behind the Scenes episodes on OWN, it seems like they have been extremely selective about their guests and it is an honor to be included in this 25th season.

I thought Stevie looked great; that little part with Sheryl during the interview was hilarious! I totally remember hearing that Stevie had said something like that to her awhile ago. It was so funny. I SOOO wish there was a way to see the rest of the interview that didn't make the cut! I'm incredibly grateful to those Ledgies who were lucky enough to be able to attend the taping for giving the rest of us all of the important deets, but I'd still love to see the interview in its entirety. :) Hopefully this show will be included in the Behind the Scenes show that's on OWN!

: ) that's ok, we forgive...

and ... uh...there were only 4 Sledge Sisters up there, sister?????Loved Secret Love live! should have aired on the teevee, though!

didn't the other sister pass away?~ they mentioned her being in heaven looking down~

Aaand Landslide is at #152 on iTunes, directly under Don't Stop Believin'.

I think Stevie's performance of Secret Love was pretty darn good! Very powerful vocal. I love the opening arm gesturing. She seemed totally committed to this song. I'm glad she hit a home run with this song on Oprah since it's a great promotional vehicle for her!!

Sidenote: I loved Stevie's "shocked" reaction to what Sheryl Crow said about having children would destroy her song writing capabilities. You know Stevie really said that to her or she wouldn't have acted so thoroughly appalled!! Too funny...

I thought the same thing ! Her reaction was too over the top to NOT be true ! Lol I agree also with her performance of SL, she was on fire. I think she did better with SL than she did with Landslide !

so maybe, that's why Joan left soon after and didn't mingle with the rest of the gals.

I figured Joan was just too butch & hardcore to be caught dead singing "We are family"...

Wondering why Pat Benatar was sitting for her whole segment as she sang and talked with Oprah and Avril? Even when Oprah came to talk to her after they sang she never got up from her chair.

Arthritis? Hip replacement?

Love that Stevie had the boots on the whole time, even though it looked like she kept reaching around & holding her back with her left hand, like it might've been hurting her.

I wish I could remember which interview it was recently where Stevie flat out saidsomething along those lines of the effects of Sheryl being a mother and a songwriter/singer. I'll try to find it...unless anyone knows which one I'm talking about! :) I think it's hysterical Sheryl called her out on it...I loved Stevie's reaction too :) Even had my husband laughing!

I think that's where she puts her autotune box or whatever that thing she usually wears on her right side when she wears that top and pants. I noticed she was reaching behind her when she sang with rod wearing that outfit when she's usually always reaching to her right hip.

I still think they should've had Heart & Tina Turner in place of Salt'n'Pepa & Sister Sludge. That would've made it a TRUE Rock Goddesses show. Besides how much cooler would it have been if Heart closed the show with Barracuda & we got to see Stevie rocking out to it? I kinda wonder if they didn't ask Heart & maybe they were already scheduled somewhere else & couldn't make it? It just seemed so out of place to have SNP & SS there, with the rest... although if Tina were there, the main focus of the show would've been on her, NOT Stevie, so it's probably for the best she wasn't there...

Wonderful focus on STEVIE!!!! LOVED Sheryl's complete and utter WORSHIP of STEVIE!!!!

Yeah, I didn't recognize a few of those photos either ~ very cool! Great montage!!

Aren't they touring right now? But so is Stevie, so who knows? I like your idea. Heart would have been a fantastic choice and very much in the rock theme of this show. I don't know how Salt-N-Pepa and Sister Sledge are rock, but no one asked me.

Why does she always mess with that damn thing? Like seriously WTF is so wrong all the time that it is necessary to continually **** with that? She is the only artist I have ever seen do it so often.

It's a special balancing device that sends electronic signals and lyrics directly to her brain. Without it, she has the potential to do a whirling dirvish right off the stage.

OK, I just saw both clips. First, I have to say that Stevie did a great job with both songs. I really loved listening to them. Second, did anyone else notice that the cut the solo in the middle of Landslide and that she isn't singing the last "Well the Landslide will bring it down" at the end. " Did they do that just so that the song would be shorter for TV? Jeesh. Second, did anyone else notice that Stevie pronounced "can't" in Secret Love? It sounded very British. At first I didn't quite trust my ears, but then she did it a second time. It was really weird.

Anyway, I seriously seriously loved the songs and the interview. 2 big thumbs up from me :)

Yes, I agree that it wasn't nice to say something like that to Stevie and in a public forum such as a national talk show. Even if she was joking but it was wrong for Sheryl to embarrass Stevie like that. Stevie looked hurt and shocked that Sheryl said it too so I am glad she defended herself.

It wasn't a nice thing to say at all, but on the other hand, Stevie looked so cute trying to defend herself. Maybe by being an obsessed fan I can't put myself into the position of an average viewer who doesn't particularly care about Stevie, but I could NEVER found her guilty of saying those words. She looked so surprised, and had a child like innocence in her eyes saying: "I did not... Sheryl Crow!". God I love this woman :)

Oh, and I don't think that she was offended by Sheryl saying that. I believe that they really care deeply for each other. They were holding hands all the time. I bet they make much much more inappropriate jokes all the time. Sheryl often publicly makes jokes on her own expense too.

That would of been awesome! I hope our fellow Monger, Nikayla knows that we all think she did a great job with her facebook page to get the woman of rock on Oprah. Atleast Joan & Stevie made it on!

Speaking of Joan, maybe the reason Oprah wasn't 'all over her' like Pat was that Joan was all sweaty I bet! Maybe she had to leave early and that's why she wasn't a part of the finale.

Oh I personally would not be surprised if Stevie said something to that effect. I just imagine Sheryl bitchin about not having kids and Stevie telling her it is for the best because kids can ruin your career! But I did love Stevie's response :) However, I hated that Oprah really didn't say anything to Stevie about not having kids. I would have loved to hear Stevie use her "I didn't want to be a half ass mom and a half ass rockstar" line on O!

Also it's always interesting (if annoying) to listen to Stevie reconstruct her history in front of audiences who don't know her so well. For devoted fans, it's an insult to our intelligence when she sits on Oprah (and in other interviews) and says she always knew she'd still be working as a rock musician at 62. I think she knows exactly the lie she's telling & wants to market herself as a rock survivor who would never give up on her true loves: her art and fans. But I'm probably not the only one who still remembers feeling upset back in (August? September?) 1991 when she did that national radio interview for TimeSpace & declared (in between rants about Mick & rights to "Silver Springs) that she would be gradually easing herself entirely out of the music business over the next 5 years so she could work as a painter. That felt like a slap in the face to those of us who stood by her during the Klonopin years (not that we knew about the Klonopin itself) and were hoping for better music & performances in the future.

I get pretty upset sometimes too at the utterly banal things Stevie says and does. But then I remember it's just Stevie being Stevie. She's ALWAYS been that way. Think about how she used to introduce Rhiannon as being a story about a Welsh Witch. She knew it wasn't... it was about a dime novel character. Stevie just remembers and interprets things wholly differently than pretty much everyone else in the universe . And she likes to make her life, world, and experiences sound far more grandiose than they really are. As she sang in Blue Lamp: "Don't listen to her, listen through her." It makes being a fan much less maddening :p.

Though I do agree, the lack of productivity the past 20 years is upsetting to put it kindly. People who are more recent fans just don't get how frustrating it is. So much wasted time and opportunity. The past 20 years we've gotten 2 new solo albums and 1 new Mac album with Stevie on it. I feel she came out of the Klonopin haze doing the best songwriting she'd done in decades. And it's all been so wasted. All the wind The Dance put into her career sails was squandered.

All this being said, I do think Stevie will start to slow down regarding touring and such sometime in the next decade. She'll always do live shows, I firmly believe that. But probably not as often or regularly. I kinda wish she'd focus on recording and painting, but she seems to mainly be interested in raking in the touring dough while she can.
