Agreed. I can't bring myself to care about the silly Secret Love video one bit.
I'm going to have to decide whether or not I'm going to watch this sizzle reel, though... seeing how it contains spoilers. I kinda want to listen to IYD with a clean slate for the first time. I didn't do that with Trouble In Shangri La, Say You Will, Under The Skin, or Gift Of Screws. I lapped up any snippet or song immediately as it was leaked or streamed!

I'm trying to be optimistic about this and to think that it's really going to show up around noon - I still think Dave may have had a typo with the time zone. It can happen, he's not perfect. But we're grateful nonetheless that he's been very responsive to us stevie fans via twitter about her album etc.
Anyway, I noticed how some of AOL's posts will have a timestamp of (for example) 10:00am but they weren't really on the site until 10:20am. So I'm thinking somewhere in the noon-1pm region HOPEFULLY we can see a video pop up.
If not, oh well it isn't the end of the world - it will come out at some point. If it never comes out at all I'll be upset.
Just trying to think positive.

Great teaser, just like things used to be done for artists (in the 90's). Glad Stevie is FINALLY embracing the image she so long seemed to want to live down (mystical, gothic, fire-n-brimstone, etc). Looks like video's have been made for several of the songs?

I cannot believe...in this short little 2 min clip the incredible, incredible power of Stevie Nicks...and Dave Stewart...and the heart, soul and imagination. Yes, This reel sizzles...and this is only a preview of a 2 hour? film.
I can't wait...I can't wait.
I'm so queer (no insult type)...
I just sat with my mom...to do something special with her and me...she has't been feeling well since my Nana passed...we are healing...we've gone up and down...so when I'm in her home with my laptop...and you guys said this was coming...I opened this thread...and flew to Aol.
My mom knows all about my Stevie thing...making me better via music..and a few times in person when I was in entertainment.
I know this sounds over the top...but, this was healing.
So, my mom is on a search for a perfect dress (girl thing...frustrating for husbands, sons, boyfriends...guys)for my nephews wedding...out of the blue 6 months ago...she got this poly myalgia thing...and it goes away in 2 years...but the steroids are hard...
I have a dumb flare up of a kidney thing.
I'm gusing to you guys becasue for those that feel like me about Stevie...and her songs...and the connection.
I just wanted you all to know...
Therapy.
I owe you guys...that won't be mean about this post.
$400.00.
My shrink gets that for 40 minutes...haha just kidding.
mmm, Ah, actually, kind of not really.:]
Thank you guys...I hope you are as excited as me...
Now I'm goin' with Ma to hold her purse while she's in the dressing room in numerous department stores.
Ahhh...women.
Guys...it never changes.
"Oh, this is my mom's purse...I dont' carry one, Miss..."
Like they don't hear that a million times a day.
...as I stand with 10 other guys holding purses around the ladies dressing rooms.
I'm so happy.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Now that it's released, perhaps this will be shown on the big backdrop before she hits the stage. SOMEONE needs to tell her to promote...promote... promote! This is effing fantastic!
So, is the 1st song played in the trailer Moonlight? Because it sounds nothing like LFTM, but from all the vamps in the video, I'm thinking it is.
Obviously the 2nd played is "Annabel Lee". And from the lyrics, knowing the book/movie the 3rd song is "Wide Sargasso Sea" & the 4th is Italian Summer! Folks....Stevie IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking the 1st song is Moonlight, just from all the vamps in the video, though it sounds nothing like LFTM?
2nd song is obviously Annabel Lee (sounds great).
3rd song is Wide Sargasso Sea, judging from the lyrics about burning the house down, and knowing the book/movie.
And the 4th song MUST be Italian Summer...sounding so majestic!

I like the vampire stuff, gives it a very gothic look/feel. The clip is very much True Blood meets Edgar Allan Poe meets Stevie Nicks. A great combination!
I think Stevie has been tied to witches so long more so than vampires, this is a nice change of pace.
As for the little girls, I think that is part of something bigger, like Stevie thru the years kind of thing.

I think the video is pretty bad.
-Terribly edited. There is no rhythm or meaning. (was very instructive to watch the first time with no sound)
-And the waste of 30 seconds at the beginning with Dave Stewart is garish. What's the point of bringing in that bit of neo-Bob Fosse/Moulin Rouge? It suggests Stevie is just showbiz kitsch.
-The vampires are ridic. If you're gonna do Twilight, the emphasis should be on hormones, not teeth.
-'I am Stevie Nicks." It was a lame trope when Spike Lee did it (and had already been lampooned by Robert Downey Sr. in the 70s(?)). And it remains lame. Many layers of offensive in this context.
This worries me. Dave is not the man to handle Stevie's visual persona. Too bad she and the Mac are too cheap (or broke) to afford music video greats.
Aaaaanyway, as for the music: everywhere from intriguing to ravishing.

I still haven't heard any of this yet , but that scene at the end reminds me of the last scene of Yentl, where Barbra Streisand is singing, "Papa, watch me flyyyyyyyyyy........." and the camera pans back from the boat and shows the panorama of New York Harbor. It has that grand, old Hollywood epic feel to it.

I'm thrilled. The songs, the production, her voice, even the goofy visuals. Including Dave's tap dance. It doesn't take itself too seriously.
IDK if I ever heard her hold a note that long outside of WICYF.
I think it is 16 counts and no vibrato. Wow.

I've been lurking for some time now, and I really had nothing special to say, but the trailer really made me come in out of the darkness. :) I was supporting Secret Love from the day it was out, although I didn't like it that much. I was just happy to see Stevie making new music. To me Secret Love lacks the "Stevieness", and all this time I was afraid that the rest of the album may sound like that, or even worse. Now I know that this is going to be a PERFECT ALBUM, and I just can't wait anymore.
Yeah, I'm with you. I really like the production of the songs and the drama of it all. He knows how to produce her voice and this album sounds soo rock to me.

The songs are really what matter in the end. This is the most vital she has sounded in I don't know how long.Sonically I think this album is going to be incredible.Dave and Glen seem to have been able to prompt her to move outside her comfort zone to great effect.

I just balled my eyes out for 10 minutes because I am so happy! All four of these songs are absolutely incredible! The second I heard Annabell Lee I was beyond thrilled. I love the demo but this version blows the demo right out of the water. Dave Stewart really knows what us Stevie fans want to see. This sizzle reel is priceless!
Me too. I'm so happy, so proud of Stevie right now... that I have shed a tear as well.:) I still have a big ole lump in my throat, since seeing and hearing this trailer. Enough cannot be said!
Bravo Stevie & Dave
And "Wide Sargasso Sea" sounds just as wild as the book & movie. I'm in LOVE:angel:

A special Thank You to Dave for reviving her artistically, and visually. The reel looks amazing and so does she. Really, it seems they have created something special...not just for Stevie fans, but it looks like it could also have a broader appeal without sacrificing herself (or her music).
I know! I'm going to show it to people here at work at lunch today. I bet they will all love it.
I just watched it in it's entirety cuz it kept jamming up on me before, and it made me remember when I got choked up at the san diego event I went to last month. It was at the last part of the sizzle reel. That ballad, plus Stevie being in the room, my throat got all tight. LOL. I managed to hold it in though.

OK, finally got it to play. I really hate to say this but after reading all the praise for the last song, I was quite let down, of the 4 it was my least favorite. That long note didn't impress me, it was long, but had no feeling, like when she holds the GDW wail or the thing she does now at the end of every Sorcerer, those impress me. So yea, while I'm withholding judgement from 15 seconds, I might be the only one refusing to jump on this Italian Summer lovefest started by David Wild and continued by everyone who hears the song. Anabel Lee sounded only slightly different and improved from the demo, it's going about a 6 maybe 7 out of 10 from that clip And the "I am Stevie Nicks was very annoying.
Now the positive, from that 10 second clip, the 3rd song blew me away, sounds almost Long Way to Go esqu. And the first song was awseome, and I really liked the accompying video for that one. And Stevie looks GREAT in all 4 videos

Really?!?! But all she does live for GDW or Edge is pretty much scream. I mean, it's cool & everything but it doesn's show her talent as a singer. You are obviously entitled to your opinion & I'm not going to try to change your mind, but I am amazed that you felt nothing emotionally from that last line, with the string section playing behind her. I got the MOST choked up at that point.

Ok, I gave in and watched it . The cinematography was incredibly gorgeous, fun, and kitschy. It showcased Stevie for the very old school star that she is... Stevie's not of this latest crop of stars, but instead of an older, more artistic, and genteel SHOW BUSINESS era (vs most stars these days who are of the reality era). I liked that! The whole thing is just utterly surreal and atmospheric. BIG kudos to Dave!
Now to the music. I liked the more rocking songs, in essence: the first and third songs. Anybody else notice the first song has a beat kinda like Planets? I'm surprised at what they were able to do with Annabel Lee... they kinda made it into a country rocker. And it works! I'm guessing that's Italian Summer at the end. Me no likey. :sorry:

I watched it with the sound off, because I want to listen to the album as a pristine experience (apart from Secret Love).
It looked a little generic for my taste, a little like Dave's riding the zeitgeist stylistically, but I don't see that as a problem really, if it means it helps to connect with a wider audience. I think the more this album sells and the more positive the critical reaction, the more likely SN is to want to do more music, and sooner.
She looks lovely, too, bless her wee heart. *sniff* :o

Let the one who has not sang, spun around, worked a shawl, or played a tambo cast the first empty six pack. It is not only hilarious but the ultimate Stevie fan truism. Yep, that's the Red Rocks coat! I'm still so surprised she truly has everything she's ever worn. Most people people would have kept an item like that for a fairly short time and then tossed it because it was so dated.
