Is the third one Saragasso?

That seems to be the consensus.

Wow. Those snippets sound amazing. I think I liked Sargasso the most, but they all sound great. Hearing Annabel Lee made me happy. :)

TISL is gonna be tough to beat, IMO - but this one might just do it. It definitely sounds like Secret Love (as much as I like it) is the least interesting thing on there.

I know, here we go again. Out of the 4 songs, Moonlight (1st song), Wide Sargasso Sea!!(3rd song) & Italian Summer(4th song) are my faves. But ALL these songs BLOW Secret Love outta the water. What were they thinking releasing that 1st!

Also, anyone take note in the 1st song of Stevie singing "Strange" as in "some call her strange, lady from the mountains". I think it's definitely Moonlight. Funny that it sounds nothing like LFTM from this small clip, perhaps there is a bridge in it that is lifted from the demo. But I still love it.

Yep, that's the Red Rocks coat! I'm still so surprised she truly has everything she's ever worn. Most people people would have kept an item like that for a fairly short time and then tossed it because it was so dated.

It's a beautiful coat. Glad she kept it and it's held up so long.

Some stunning outfits in that video, and she sounds amazing. Really love what they've done with that song that's going on about the smoke and the fire, her vocals work really well with that.

She burned his house down.

I like them! They showcase all the different generations of girls who have grown up listening to and being affected by Stevie's music. :)

I thought they were neat too, & now when I show it to people I can tell them to shove it because not only 'older' folk listen to Stevie & the Mac, like a lot of people I know tell me . hahah.

So, it's:

1. Moonlight
2. Annabell Lee
3. Wide Sargasso Sea
4. Italian Summer

Thanks. That is helpful. I wasn't really educated on what songs were used. Wide Sargasso Sea sounds amazing, as do the rest of them. :)

But all these songs BLOW Secret Love outta the water. What were they thinking releasing that 1st!

They always go with something as safe and nondescript as they can. Every Day was a nice little song, but not the best or most interesting track on TISL. It really doesn't surprise me.

In what way!? Argh, this is what it must have been like trying to describe music to Helen Keller.

I thought she was blind AND deaf? And that's why her learning to speak and whatnot was such a huge accomplishment?

Am I the only one who was slightly disappointed? I liked the video, but the only song I liked was the one 1:12 which I think people are saying is Wild Sargasso Sea, the other slower songs just were catching me. Hopefully i'll enjoy them when I hear the album.

I will be getting nothing done today. Nothing at ****ing all.

same here...have already blown an hour watching the reel and reading everyone's comments lol.

Am I the only one who just watched this the first time with my jaw wide open?

HOLY...WOW.

That was so worth getting pissed off for waiting.

No, you're not the only one...

Gahh!! I can't decide whether to watch this or not! I really don't want to spoil the album for myself like I've done in the past! :distress:

oh, go ahead and DO IT!

I've been lurking for some time now, and I really had nothing special to say, but the trailer really made me come in out of the darkness. :) I was supporting Secret Love from the day it was out, although I didn't like it that much. I was just happy to see Stevie making new music. To me Secret Love lacks the "Stevieness", and all this time I was afraid that the rest of the album may sound like that, or even worse. Now I know that this is going to be a PERFECT ALBUM, and I just can't wait anymore.

Same here...didn't want to get too psyched up for the album only to be let down. But, seeing and hearing this reel has me excited. It's all good.

Ok, I gave in and watched it .

I am sooo disappointed you gave in lol! I was going to do the same thing but I have absolutely no patience.

I have no issues with anything. Not wild about Annabel Lee but no big deal. Like someone posted earlier, this isn't meant to be some huge Oscar nominated film so let's try to just appreciate we got something from this whole project. Looks very cool to me. Love what I saw so far and really was very pleasantly surprised. The songs sound very strong and I am a sucker for the last 2. When IS came on I felt like I was going to well up lol. I didn't...but maybe I will when i hear the whole thing.

I literally cried at the end with the Italian Summer part. I ADORE this. It is absolutely perfect. I'm too stunned in the very best way to even say anything more. Barely any one can do that to me but this woman (along with Dave Stewart) can. Holy f***

I am so glad to be alive to be able to experience and enjoy this. Thank you, Stevie

Ok, I gave in and watched it . The cinematography was incredibly gorgeous, fun, and kitschy. It showcased Stevie for the very old school star that she is... Stevie's not of this latest crop of stars, but instead of an older, more artistic, and genteel SHOW BUSINESS era (vs most stars these days who are of the reality era). I liked that! The whole thing is just utterly surreal and atmospheric. BIG kudos to Dave!

Now to the music. I liked the more rocking songs, in essence: the first and third songs. Anybody else notice the first song has a beat kinda like Planets? I'm surprised at what they were able to do with Annabel Lee... they kinda made it into a country rocker. And it works! I'm guessing that's Italian Summer at the end. Me no likey. :sorry:

Figured you would. I don't think is spoils anything; just a great preview. Hey, Louie, do you think she'll be coming to the Erwin Center? I don't know if you have noticed, but there are a lot of music artists performing there. It's been many years, but rock or pop concerts are back at the Erwin Center. It's a perfect size venue for Stevie. She used to perform there during the 80's. The last time was the Other Side of the Mirror tour. Fingers are crossed. :D:D

I caught that too! I was like "wait, is Dave wearing Stevie's clothes?"

I just balled my eyes out for 10 minutes because I am so happy! All four of these songs are absolutely incredible! The second I heard Annabell Lee I was beyond thrilled. I love the demo but this version blows the demo right out of the water. Dave Stewart really knows what us Stevie fans want to see. This sizzle reel is priceless!

It made me tear up too.

The only thing that is concerning me is the horse whimpering during Annabelle Lee. Surely that's just on the video and not the CD. You can hear it twice during the Annabelle Lee part of the preview. I really hope Mr. Ed is not a background singer on the CD track. If he is, I hope they give him credit.

What in the crap is Secret Love doing as the first single when Moonlight sounds so much more radio friendly? It's pretty damn catchy too. I could totally see a video being picked up with the whole vampire theme as well, with Twilight/True Blood being so massive right now....

Honestly, I was pretty let down with the quality of the music I was hearing as well... but tried to keep it to myself since I've been labeled a "negative nancy" around here. It sounds like the first and third songs have some potential, though... I guess we'll see in about a month!

Oh
My
Goodness!!!

I am in such a state of euphoric shock, I really don't know what to say. The vision of what I've always had for what Stevie's music and, aura, and everything could be is in the video. It's perfect, straight up!!!

I've been a fan since 2003, and haven't experienced the release of any new material. It's all been old and recycled, and though as a fan collecting that back catalog has been amazing and beyond everything I could have imagined, having this new, fresh current material is what it's all about.

I know I've mentioned how my fandom has gone in cycles, and how at times it can be frustrating, knowing you WANT to be totally digging Stevie's music at the moment, but just being in a lull. Stevie's music has helped me through so many personally trying times that sometimes I feel like I owe her my listening...... Well if there was any doubt, ANY doubt EVER, it has been forever forgotten. I can't wait for this new album. It will probably keep all of us going for quite some time.

The aura of the video is perfect. I remember one night thinking, I don't remember what I was listening to, but just thinking about how I hoped Stevie would have an album that was just so thick with this gothic, earthy imagery and whatnot.... and here it is in this preview.

When the "smoke and the fire" song came on, my jaw literally hit the floor. I knew instantly that that song could quite possibly end up being my absolute favorite on this album, and potentially ever. All of the songs are great, Anabel Lee is probably the least favorite, but at this point, even it is earning high marks.

Right now I really don't know what to say other than hell yeah!! The time it took me to type this was the longest I've gone without playing the promo again, so I think I'll leave, play it a few more times and then get ready for my concert tonight!!!

And then maybe later impart some more words of wisdom on this thing!!! But right now, all I can think is, damn right, hella tight!!!

I love the video; granted it is edited as a teaser so the transitions are a bit rough. But Dave at the beginning has a very Eurythmics (modern) feel to it, and I do think Stevie is theatrical in sound and style. The fact that it's really her words (lyrics/poems) that give her street cred, as many of them are pure craftsmanship and have layered substance.

Above all, she looks great and seems very confident in presenting her persona for what it has and will always be; and that includes all the "magical" references and fantasy. As for the music itself, it still sounds like a Stevie Nicks CD (which is good) but given a bit of modern engineering (which was badly needed.) Ultimately, it will be the complete songs and performance that will either blossom or die on the vine.

I think we're in agreement then that the songs featured are, in order:

-Moonlight
-Annabel Lee (duh)
-Wide Sargasso Sea
-Italian Summer

Do you guys think that the 1st song is the title song, in your dreams?

The whole video though it was rapid, punchy, fast paced clips in the preview...seems to have a collective, Victorian, Castle, Vampire...In your dreams stuff theme...

Any takes on this?

I think it is Moonlight albeit the part that she wrote in 2009 .I'm guessing that some of the original LFTM leads up to this part..if you listen to the lyrics they include "Strange" and "they drop to the forest floor..frozen" Most certainly not "In Your Dreams" though.

I believe it was determined by the people at the event in San Diego last month that LFTM morphs into "Moonlight" so again we're likely hearing the newly written section of a much longer song..Ah I knew my chimp would make another appearence one of these days!:blob1:

And NOT Italian Summer. Someone said it sounds like salad dressing.

Annabel Lee for sure though. I think that's going to be a favorite for me.

I think it's a good reel, & I don't mind the "My name is Stevie Nicks" repetitions.

I agree that the 1st song is the best. I really like it & am eager to hear the LFTM parts.
As for missed opportunity, Sharon should perhaps be featured more prominently in that Moonlight video. Talk about not needing touch-ups/special effects for the Goth vampire look...;)

Third song, WSS, sounds like Illume with angrier instrumentation, & none of that Lindsey-snake-voice, so thumbs-up.

Of some concern to me still (and yes, I see it's me alone) are the vocals on parts of the reel. She sounds great on the 1st song, but I'm sorry, a bit croaky & flat on the 2nd one, considering what she's capable of giving in the studio. Like the beginnings of Everybody Finds Out & Destiny Rules.

I think she looks amazing in 3/4 of the video - less so in Italian Summer. Just looks a bit worn out there to me. Also, I had to listen to IS a few times before I liked the vocal - I wanted more vibrato or rasp - Stevie hallmarks - but now I'm liking the sound a little more.

I'm just hoping that AL is not the second (or any) single, though the video clip looks fine; she has been talking about it a lot. (Yeah, I know in the end it's not up to her.) I hope whatever singles they choose in the future will showcase her voice and her songwriting at their best.

I think where the reel is most successful is in conveying how visually charismatic Stevie is. You can't take your eyes off her when she's on the screen. Obviously this is a natural quality of Stevie's, but some directors just capture it better, & I'll give Dave points for doing it well.

dreams unwind - boots are'a state of mind.......... ;)

I don't see why she doesn't wear the boots, if at least every other song during a show. Yeah they start to ache your back after a bit but they aren't downright awful to wear, you're supported by a huge platform unlike most heels women wear. But I am not 60 yet so maybe that's a huge factor with her these days...

just watching these small clips is an emotional rollercoaster, I now know why he described the album as epic and dramatic and cinematic, just from that... the album seems to have it's share of sad songs and real rock songs. This is going to be something. Maybe the album that is the truest to who she actually is inside.

I actually love the "My name is Stevie Nicks" thing. I mean come on, people.
Who among the ardent chiffon heads hasn't at least in theory been Stevie, wanted to be Stevie, sang along and done the whole schtick? Let the one who has not sang, spun around, worked a shawl, or played a tambo cast the first empty six pack. It is not only hilarious but the ultimate Stevie fan truism. All are Stevie, and none are Stevie.

This will have people all over the place crapping chiffon by the metric ton. And I am not ashamed to count myself among them.

Completely agree with this. That was the one thing in the video that struck me as being the most poignant. I got that right away! Secondly, the two litle girls running on the beach in "Annabel Lee" made me think of Stevie and Robin. I'm almost sure that is who this song is about, in Stevie's mind. Generally speaking I like the whole vibe to the sizzle reel. The real deal will be the album....can't wait!

Now that I've had the chance to see and hear the sizzle reel... I must admit that I absolutely LOVE the first song (that may be "Moonlight" ) and I like their treatment of "Annabel Lee" - a lot like the demo, but with some additional textures. But then it gets cheesy. I'm not sure about the song currently hypothesized as "Wide Sargasso Sea." First of all, why did they have to shoot this in her swimming pool? And then the dry ice machines beside the pool? Very, very cheap-looking. The song is smoldering and ablaze... they should have set a huge bonfire instead! I can't say I'm a big fan of the song since it doesn't seem to have much of a melody in that snippet... so I will reserve judgment until I hear more. But I must have to say that the big letdown was "Italian Summer." I thought it was going to be this slow, mournful ballad, but instead it sounds a bit corny. And she really doesn't have the kind of big voice that should sustain a note like that; it was a little bit harsh sounding to my ears.

In general, I love some of what I've heard so far and I'm going to defer my judgment on the rest until May. More than anything, I love the fact that she has continued to maintain her standards of excellence when it comes to polish and production. There is nothing half-assed about any of these songs, and they demonstrate perfectly the care that she has always put into her craft. I just hope new listeners are willing to suspend reality for a moment and enter the world of Stevie Nicks. This is not an easy listening album and it will require effort for the uninitiated. It is so astonishing to hear an artist at this stage of her life put out something that is edgier than anything she has ever done!

I'm really sorry if someone has done this already - I tried my best to read all of the posts as usual, but I may have missed one! I took the liberty of editing the sizzle reel into an mp3, with the four tracks separated with some fade ins and fade outs. I definitely took out Dave's circus act at the beginning, and the "My name is Stevie Nicks" ad nauseam bit (sorry if that upsets anyone - I couldn't handle it!). I didn't fade in Moonlight, because I love how it starts with a heart attack. And I couldn't do anything about the equestrian sound bite in Annabel Lee.

By the way, I'm disappointed that Moonlight (from what we've heard) hasn't replicated the simple but gorgeous piano chords of Lady From The Mountain - but it's a masterpiece anyhow and I shan't complain (too much). And Wide Sargasso Sea is very Joan of Arc to me. I can hear elements of the demo in there. The vocal, perhaps. Anyone agree?

From what I can tell by watching the trailer, the first song is probably Moonlight/Lady From The Mountain. She probably did what she did with Planets for TISL. From the first five seconds I heard of this song I knew the album would be great. :blob2:

Anabel Lee rocks! I hated the demo, but this is amazing. David is amazing. And I love the '30 second minuet the thing' during the 'My name is SN' part.

WWS is rocking and atmospheric, and it somehow reminds me on Kula Shakers song Govinda. :)

Italian Summer? Nah... I'll have to hear the whole song, but somehow I doubt I'll like it.

I think that this really might be the album that may crown Stevie's solo career, and if advertised the right way, it may take her to the top once more. At first I was really skeptical about David Stewart producing the album. It was his solo stuff that made me think he wouldn't mix well with Stevie, but now that I hear this, I totally get why she doesn't want to do anything else without him. Fabulous music and vocal production, and the sound is so mature yet fresh. I just love it!

From what I can tell by watching the trailer, the first song is probably Moonlight/Lady From The Mountain.

You know, initially I knew it was Moonlight, but I couldn't hear the connection to Lady From The Mountain, but try hard - it's totally there. Start listening to the beginning of the Moonlight clip and sing along:

Some call her strange...lady from the mountains...
Ooh, yes and other say...she's not...really real...

Am I alone, or can anyone else hear this? The chords are actually exactly the same, just more orchestrated and with heavy production - which by the way completely works! So happy with this...piano or not!

I was blown away by this trailer! The production and cinematography are phenomenal. My expectations on that end were a little low because I thought Stevie had Dave do the direction because it would be simple and easier than having an outside director, but I am just floored at the quality of the video itself...nicely done Dave.

I'm also most impressed by "Wide Sargasso Sea". Simply wow! Not the boring and mundane song I imagined based on it's name. It's definitely a rocker and I'm most excited to see that video!

This may be clunky and awkward but here goes:

Intro:

Dave is tap dancing on an old piece of plywood It looks like a lid or cover off 0f something and is not flat on the floor and wobbles- weird.

Moonlight:

Love the little owl.Music and lyrics top notch, but I can't quite make out some of the lyrics. If this don't bring in some of the Twilight people in nothing will. Love the tiny clip of Lori and Sharon. Love all of the other girls too.

My name is Stevie Nicks:

Love it. I think this is a tool to introduce or reintroduce Stevie to people that come across this. A cute little black, hispanic or oriental girl would have been a good strike. A little drag queen would have been over the top , but I wouldn't have blinked.

Annabel Lee:

To me Annabel Lee could rival Rhiannon which would be a hard thing to do. Love the little girls on the beach and the sand. Love the filmed reflection off the water of Stevie ,the girl and the horse. Backing track similar to Tom Petty's ''I Won't Back Down'' Horse snorting at the mirror LOL .

Wide Sargasso Sea:

Music not quite up my alley. The fire and the wind and the water- the imagery reminds me of ''The Nightmare''. Hope that girl didn't drown. The clip seemed too short to pass better judgement .

Italian Summer:

Love the red dress with the black top. Did Jack Sparrow have to pop Stevie out of that outfit? What is that in the top of tree as the camera pans away? Is it nut shells or ribbons? HEY BITCHES TOP THIS!!!! If this is not a standard,I don't what is. I can see people from 8 to 80 enjoying this one. I hope Stevie can come close to pulling this off live.

Overall:

A great mix of music. Top notch filming. This is what I have been expecting from Stevie for quite some time. Dave- Tip of the hat. Stevie I hope you can handle what is coming you way.

I hear it. totally. Once we hear the whole song, I'm sure somewhere in the song will be a familiar line or verse from the demo. I love the demo, but what it sounds to have evolved into -has exceeded my expectation. Am I hearing electric violin in the mix as well? This productions sounds far superior to even John Shanks' work. I'm loving the Moonlight video so much. It does has a very Tom Petty vibe and look to it. The one vampire is so hot who they show after Lori and Sharon. I also feel that Monnlight is the only clip where I think you can really get a feel for the song. A) it's just the longset timewise, and it just seems like the only clip that could actually help me tell what the song is gonna sound like. I LOVE Wide Sargasso Sea (I'll take your guys word for that one) and I know it'll rock but have no idea where its gonna go whatsoever. And Italian Summer is just one word basically with some strings.

Some of textures reflect TISL. Both these albums may tie in together very well. It looks like Stevie didn't panic and stray too far away. I think IYD will be a more complete and well rounded than TISL.

A special Thank You to Dave for reviving her artistically, and visually. The reel looks amazing and so does she. Really, it seems they have created something special...not just for Stevie fans, but it looks like it could also have a broader appeal without sacrificing herself (or her music).

I second that thought. Dave deserves much credit for bringing Stevie into the twenty-first century, and not just with her music. He has really capitalized on the imagery she created, sprayed some Frebreze mist on it, and added a fresh new dimension to it.

He, like no other producer since Jimmy Ivine, seemingly has the respect and acute sensitivity to bring out the the best in Stevie. I hope this translates to the stage --- with a radically revamped set list, and a stunning stage set.

I understand how some fans have issues with the vampire/goth stuff. In some ways it reeks of pandering to the Twilight phenomena. (I don't follow any of it). But I recall that Stevie was invoking some of those images decades before Twilight (and most of those actors) was even born.

Good points! Everyone is so quick to judge a simple promo reel...and rip it apart as if her whole being/integrity rests on it. Chill! I'm as critical as some as you are, but it's way too early to get your panties all in a snitch! Smoke a joint before you post! Just let it be.

Wow, I am beyond impressed.

Today has been a Stevie OVERLOAD. I am so excited that all of this is actually happening. She seems to be at the top of her game. The new songs sound GREAT! I am especially interested in Moonight, WS, and Italian Summer. All four of the videos have a different feel to them.

I can't remember who said it, but, she should ABSOLUTELY play this before she comes onstage during the H&S tour. This is a great time to be a Stevie fan for sure. On a side note, Lori looks absolutely stunning in that first clip.

I am glad to see some older ledgies coming out of the woodwork. :)

No there have been a few other people not thrilled. You're not alone.

How the heck can you judge an entire song by a snippet???????

And if you have lived a certain amount of time, you begin to realize that things you immediately dismiss are sometimes the things you grow to love and appreciate in years to come.

Instant gratification not coming to you imediately? I feel terrible for you, and all the good things that will pass you by in life...because you weren't thrilled immediately!

The social media generation has so f*cked up reality, patience and attention spans. The world is Dot.Gone.

It's those intresting, sometimes cryptic, hard to understand at times lyrics I want and expect from Stevie, And I'm glad in this very small sampling of the album we still have lots of ecamples of those types of lyrics. And Smoke and fire and the elements almost having human qualities, that's Stevie writing. I was petrified when I heard she actually wrote the lyrics to Cheaper then Free, and am thrilled the rest of the album isn't full of such awful lyrics.

What I'm wondering about that is does she stop and read poetry a few times throughout the song. Now that would be different. Critic already said this album was poetic. That would be one way of making your poetry to stand. To stop a real rock song and just read it and tell parts of the story.

but I'm a bit, actually a lot, infatuated with the first one "Moonlight" - it just has that endearing mystical charm that I love from Stevie - and haven't seen much of it lately. I just want to listen to that clip over and over.. so I put the .mp3 on my ipod - thanks for sharing it - and will probably listen to it countless times as I take the train up to New York City for the show tonight..

after viewing the duets from the Atlanta show, I think I'm going to enjoy Rod's set..

off to the Big A to represent Stevie and to proudly wear my Crystal Visions t-shirt.. don't want people thinking I'm a Rod fan.. watching the excitement from the Atlanta concert during the duets - well, he will have plenty.

There's a line in this song--I think it's the pre-chorus where she sings AND THE ONLY THING THEY KNEW HOW TO DO
WAS TO MAKE LOVE---she sings it more than once and really punches the line.

I was struck when I heard it because it was very "forward" lyrically for Stevie...

I actually love the intro with Dave. Firstly, it very well may have been filmed in the end just as a set-up to introduce Stevie. But thematically it works b/c of the Moulin Rouge feel: its saying "welcome to the show...this is pure entertainment folks, that's what we do...and boy, have we got a show for you!" Someone mentioned the floor was wobbly... that was intended, as was it to feel a bit "tawdry," thus giving the following footage with the songs that much more spark and marvel...like pure magic happens when the music starts.

Overall, very theatrical and really a throwback to earlier times in Rock video when it didn't all need to make sense, when it was just a visual joyride. For me, this is Stevie really breaking out into new territory literally just by embracing who she is! I'd love to see her strut out on stage to sing "Italian Summer" wearing that beautiful dress!

Although, since she has everything, I wish she'd pull out a couple of these old pieces every now and then. Not just a shawl or two, maybe a dress... if she can still fit into them, or get a replica made that she could fit into now.

Don't be disappointed about any lack of piano in Moonlight, because there isn't any.

I just re-checked the notes I took when I heard the song in it's entirety in San Diego last month, and I scribbled down, "centered around piano". Piano is definitely in the song, it's just wasn't in the 30 seconds or so of this Sizzle Reel.

I'm a little late to the game as far as my opinion of the sizzle reel, but here goes...

It appears that they had a shoestring budget to work with. That being said, I think they have done an AMAZING job with their limited resources. All the sets, land & seascapes look out of this world! And boy, Stevie's house is exquisite (but then I'd expect nothing less ;) ) and the soft lighting on everyone's faces (especially Sharon & Lori) make the "Moonlight" portion of this documentary very creepy and atmospheric. LOVE IT!

The songs - OMG, I think I'm gonna love "Moonlight", "Wide Sargasso Sea" and "Italian Summer", if in fact those are the actual songs we got to hear. I was never impressed with the demo of "Secret Love" but was blown away by the new version...so I thought it might be the same with "Annabel Lee". I've always loathed the demo. After hearing the snippit on the trailer, my opinion hasn't really changed that much. I'm still not impressed. Of course that might change once I hear the full song, but time will tell.

Also, I woke up this morning with the string arrangement to "Italian Summer" running through my head. It's infectious...and that last note she holds for 4 measures is incredible. Those two things combined gave me goosebumps.

I'm loving what seems to be a recurring theme of "mirrored" imagery (the horse, the girls, Stevie herself) and also the Edgar Allan Poe stuff. I wonder if that will be a thread throughout the entire documentary or just in the Annabel Lee portion. I really can't wait for this album, and seeing this reel makes me EVEN MORE anxious to watch the documentary.

Do you guys think this could be Stevie's "Wall", "Quadrophenia", "Rattle & Hum" or any number of kick ass rock movie/documentary/concept films?

WOW, I have watched this sizzle video several times now, it literally gives me chills everytime I watch it! That rarely happens to me. Just these snippets of on this video move me, her music always has. She has a special gift, that through her music, she is able to touch people and affect them. I just love her!

The drawing was done by Christine, wasn't it?

I've never heard that before. I thought it was done by either Stevie or Lindsey. The idea for the album cover was Lindsey's, based on the movie promo pic for Double Suicide (http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMjA2NTQyMDc1M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwOTU4MzYyMQ@@._V1._SY317_CR3,0,214,317_.jpg).

i've always LOVED the bottom half of that" purple rain" dress (the top half, so-so, but it was the 80's after all). after i watched the trailer i was picturing them all going through her closet preparing for the video. that must have been fun.

so no official word on if her niece was one of the fire dancers in the videos?

It didn't look like her to me. They used those shots during Rhiannon on Thursday.

Excellent post. I remember how so many of us were dismissing "Secret Love'" after we first heard the snippet of the song. Then after we were exposed to the full version, we loved it. I recall listening to "Rumours'' for the first time and not hearing it initially. But with every spin I picked up on something different and appreciated all of its' wonderful intricasies more. So I think it's wise to slow down and try to absorb something before casting a dismissing judgement on it.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a slam on Paula, but general advice for everyone, including myself.

but I'm a bit, actually a lot, infatuated with the first one "Moonlight" - it just has that endearing mystical charm that I love from Stevie - and haven't seen much of it lately.

COOL! Have a good time! :wavey:

I've figured out who the pretty brown-haired girl in Stevie's dress is!
She's not just a random actress, there is a Stevie connection, two actually!
http://i.imgur.com/teDyH.jpg
Her name is Torrey Devitto, and her parents are Liberty Devitto (Stevie's Wild Heart era drummer) and Mary Torrey (long-time friend, "photoshoot twin")!

Torrey is an 26-year old actress, she's also playing violin in the video.

Impressive detective work! I thought it was Torrey Devitto (recognized her from Pretty Little Liars and Beautiful people). But I had no idea she had a Stevie Connection! She's gorgeous.

I wonder if the younger girls have Stevie connections too. Dave tweeted something about Mick being on the set--could any of them be Tessa or Ruby? Would they be the right age?

Long time ago I was looking around on Myspace for Stevie-related people (looking for Stevie pics), I found Liberty's page and saw pics of his daughters. When I saw the video she just looked familair.

I'm pretty sure the blond girl with the braces is Glen Parrish's daughter, one of the 2 little girls is Dave's daughter Indya (from the callsheet), the other one could be one of Mick's (probably the most unfortunate looking one )

I was dreading "Annabell Lee" because I just could not get into the demo version I have. It was just like, "really, Stevie? You're putting this dreck on In Your Dreams?" I guess I thought it had potential if the right musical hands came upon it, but I didn't know if Dave Stewart's were going to be them.

When I heard it on the video, I fell in love! I really took to "Moonlight" right away. "Italian Summer" might have to grow on me. That said, bring on the whole record!

I much prefer Anne Rice's vampires over any of them. When I read Interview with a Vampire, Lestat and Queen of the Dammed I thought I went to heaven. Those are three of best books I have ever read. I also liked her series about the Mayfair Witches. That's why I have always thought of Stevie as the Anne Rice/Jim Morrison of rock n roll.

That's what's so great about True Blood and the storylines and characters, not everything is centered around campy vampires. A lot of the writing deals with real people and issues. OMG I just read about her. She is a maenad. The are these powerful creatures sorta like wild nymphes. I read a horror novel based on them before called Domion by Bentley Little. They would have sex with men over and over and then rip them apart. They follow the god Dionysus; god of wine, agriculture, theater, grapes, ritual madness, and ecstasy . He's basically chaos.

Nicely done! It's current and on trend while still retaining a lot of Stevie's style and mystique. I realize this is a trailer, but I honestly hope none of her videos are like that one of Lindsey's from Under the Skin where the whole thing was one long jerky camera shot. Watching that nearly gave me a migraine headache and an epileptic seizure. I am not a fan of that kind of video editing.

Louie, I'm beginning to think you don't know our Stevie as well as you think you do. Surly you don't believe she is as one dimensional as this post suggests. Stevie is an enigma, is very well read, and a woman of many references. She loves twisted pieces of fiction and dark fables as much as fairytales. Back in 70's, she use to give out copies of Aleister Crowleys' Diary Of A Drug Fiend, like pieces of candy to her friends to read. Sure Stevie tamed her wild heart a bit in her middle to late years. But as the IYD preview suggests, she is about to put out a fairly edgy collection of work for a 62 year old rock veteran, not a middle of the road pop collection. Stevie is gritty in small doses. And the novel Wide Sargasso Sea, of which the song is inspired, is hardly airy fairy, but a subversive and depraved psychological and sexual charged novel, which incidentally does not have a happy ending. In short, Stevie is a person of many contradictions and a tortured soul, just like many of us.

Was she inspired by the movie or the book? I've never seen the movie, but loved the book--so much so that I went on to read a biography of Jean Rhys and see After Mrs. Rochester, a play about Rhys and Bertha Mason. Definitely a dark story, and a fairly graphic one. The book wasn't as sexy as it sounds like the movie was, though...

Was she inspired by the movie or the book? .

She said in an interview last July that she was inspired by the movie AND the book.

From VC Star.com interview...

" There is a song about a novel called “Wide Sargasso Sea,” the precursor to Jane Eyre. It was a crazy movie in the ’80s that I loved. "

Get what you're saying, but I really don't think of Hawthorne as a naive form of entertainment. His characters may have very simplistic, black/white viewpoints but the overall stories are heavy and always linger on the dark side of human nature and the restrictions, judgments and suffering we impose on ourselves and others.

I can see how Giovanni and Beatrice's love is one dimensional, but I see them as just tools in the grander, complex plot. I find stories like that (and another favorite Young Goodman Brown) very layered and knowing.

Even though True Blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series, they aren't even remotely the same. I've read them all. :p

By the way, at approximately 0:40 seconds into the teaser (when Dave is on the table) Lori disappears into thin air.

Chris wishes HE could make her do that.

Is it bad to say that Lori and Sharon don't need too much make-up to portray vampires? Well at least that seems to be for Sharon haha. Just a joke.

I thought Lori looked pretty from what I've seen of the trailer video.

True Blood is the best show on television. I was Mary Ann for Halloween a couple years ago- I wore a Grecian dress, had claws, and a bloody heart on a bloody knife. Hunter's Casserole, anyone? :)

I tried watching it for I think about 4 episodes and in my opinion it was super sexual. Not that I mind, it just seemed a little over-kill. It seemed like they were doing all the sex to get people interested in watching the series. After awhile I was like, oh brother - here we go again. That's why I gave up on it.

Does that stuff calm down a little bit in the second season?
