Is this a repeat of her previous appearance or is this something new? I sure hope its new!! Woo hoo!! :blob2:

It says "Brand New Episode"!:blob2: i just hope that ellen talks to her about HER SOLO CAREER, and HER NEW ALBUM. Not bloody fleetwoodmac this and that. I was sooo irritated when she was promoting Crystal Visions and ellen was like well everyone wants to know when will fleetwood mac be together! Good Lord.:o:distress::laugh: NOT NOW FLEETWOOD MAC! STEVIES ON A ROLL!:blob2:

My Tivo says "Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks perform"
But since the only other guest is Gervais, I would assume that Stevie will get couch time.
Another thing is to remember is, Ellen's show and Stevie hold one important thing in common: Warner Bros.

I have to say that I am baffled by this pairing. If it were Stevie and Dave Stewart performing together, it would be very obvious that it was in relation to both of their albums being released in the coming months. But Rod Stewart has an album that he just released in October, and unless he and Stevie are dueting on a song that will be on her upcoming album, I don't see how they really fit together here.
Maybe Dave could shed some light on this...did he ever mention special guest appearances on her album?

Well the old boy did cover "Stand Back" so mayhaps they'll croak that one out together..I'd be totally floored though if she did something completely out of character like debut her new single.I think if he was going to be on her new album we'd have heard by now though,

Sheds = Amphitheaters
Nostalgia Tour = Playing your hit songs from 30 years ago at the expense of neglecting your new material
I suppose it'd be a pipedream to expect Stevie to perform her first single from the new album on Ellen's show given the fact Rod will be on the show with her and they'll most likely focus on their upcoming oldies tour. Gross. :distress:

I hope it's not Stand Back...she's preformed it a lot on talk Shows.! I like that she sang 'Everyday' on Rosie. I want her to sing a song from Trouble In Shangri-La on the Ellen Show, or a new song from her new album, but that probably won't happen. (The new song.)

Thanks for the reply!! It actually looks like I was joking around, but I was serious, I actually didn't know what it was. I don't think it would be bad if Rod & Stevie did a duet of one of her old songs, or his old songs. That would be cool. I just hope they don't perform their solo songs...solo. :(

I hope she debuts a new song. Adele debuted her new song on Ellen from her upcoming album back in November, and her record wont be out til Feb. So its totally possible. It would seem that if Ellen has both Stevie & Rod on her show that they will get 2 songs between the 2 of them. I just pray it's not Stand Back. Stevie has performed this song way too many times on talk shows over the last 20 years going all the way to the Arsenio Hall show:eek:

Oh yeah, I'd be willing to bet money Stand Back is what's in the cards for us. I just hope the "game changing" collaboration Dave Stewart was talking about recently has nothing to do with Rod Stewart being anywhere near Stevie's new album. That's a thoroughly disgusting thought...

Never made that connection or the similarities. This is totally possible and I would love it to be true....I just couldn't see past the whole Rod/Stevie combo. Boy if it's true, they are in for a lot of jokes about their singing styles on the road together. The crone and the croak. I KID.;)

So exciting! I just hope Stevie gets couch time so we can actually get some information and funny banter out of her. :) A preformance would be nice, but I really am more interested in hearing what she has to say, rather than hear her do Stand Back. I feel like Ellen's people would discourage her doing Stand Back or Landslide, since she just did them the last time she was on her show.

Perhaps Stevie and Rod are going to compare notes about Carol Ann Harris.
I am NOT a Rod Stewart fan. I really hope they are just both coincidentally booked for the same day.
Nonetheless, I can't wait till next Thursday. I'm already thinking of how I can get off work so I don't have to wait till the evening to watch it.
I hope this is the first of many things we hear about Stevie this month.

This TV appearance is most definitely a move by the record company. And while it seems most people on The Ledge are indifferent to it, or don't like it, it actually means the label is very serious about promoting Stevie Nicks, regardless if she sings a standard or not at all.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if she does reveal the name of the CD, and quite possibly might even sing the first single. Yes, it would be very much of of rhythm for her, but again this looks like a marketing move, and it would be odd that she'd be on the Ellen show now and then again when the CD is released. So my money is on her performing something new to get people excited about the upcoming release.
If this is the case, WB must think she has a big song that should be a hit if they can get people to hear it (and not rely initially on radio.)

I'm totally with you...this is without a doubt a way to begin turning the gears and promoting Stevie's album. Whether it's Dave Stewart or Rod Stewart that's with her, Dave said on twitter regarding Stevie's album, once 2011 is here, "BOOM", and it looks like he was right!
To me, the only thing that could make this even better if it is indeed Dave Stewart that is appearing with her on the show.

I wonder if the Ellen listing is a mistake, and it's not Rod Stewart performing with Stevie, but Dave Stewart? Believe me, a young intern might know the name of Rod Stewart but not Dave, so there could have been a major miscommunication. It happens all the time.

Because Rod and Stevie both have that raspy voice. However, I just don't see them touring together. He is on Sony and she is on WB and he is too busy doing those damn American Songbook albums. Nobody going to a Stevie Nicks concert wants to spend an hour or two listening to Rod Stewart belt out The Great American Songbook rubbish. I don't have a problem with Rod and I actually like some of his stuff, but his cover albums he has been putting out lately are ridic and need not be anywhere near Stevie.

I sure hope Dave S. tweets some light on these latest rumors soon! I just think it's fantastic! Out of the blue, Stevie on TV!!
I am very pleasantly surprised, and SN hasn't surprised us a lot lately, so it makes it extra happy news for me- I need it, so I'll take it!
In my opinion, be it on 'Ellen' or on the coming joint tour, the fact that Rod may be with SN will have little or no impact on what songs Stevie decides to sing, Stevie will sing as she pleases. Edit: I also think it may be an error, as others have written, and it will be Dave Stewart on Ellen with SN.
She's gonna be on TV next week!!!
Dang, I'm nearly giddy! I really hope for no 'Stand Back' on Ellen, she seems to perform it on every tv show she's done, for decades! But, whatever!
Just that Stevie is going to be on tv next week will be something of a silver lining during these cloudy days.

Thank heavens Stevie had the good sense not to join him on one of his classic duets, like Cher did with Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. If they sing together live, I hope it's not on something like At Last.

I highly doubt they are going to sing Stand Back together. I mean seriously, WTF. Stand Back is not a duet song, and nobody watching Ellen gives a flying **** or rolling rim job that Rod covered it years ago. Either they are both on there separately OR they are on there together to announce their new albums and summer tour and they will sing a new song or one of Stevie's typical duet songs (Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Leather and Lace, Two Kinds Of Love...) OR it is infact Dave Stewart.

We need a few Ledgies willing to cut class or work and get to the Ellen taping.
We have the airdate, the 13th, but it is possible it could be filmed in advance, so anyone traveling should sleuth it out. Should be a piece of cake for the two Ledge members I first think of who might be ones who would try to make the taping :)

**Just to add, it doesn't look like it will tape on the 13th, since "day of taping" tickets are available up until 12PM PST. I wonder if we can reliably assume it will tape on Wednesday?

I will be happy if she shows up dressed in anything but a black outfit with shoulder pads!
Chances are "Rod" was a misprint. Stevie and Dave Stewart are both promoting their upcoming albums. It stands to reason that they will be appearing together on Ellen. My guess is that they will perform the duet song that appears on both of their albums.

To everyone tweeting Dave about anything related to Stevie. I think she said on her website that Dave will only tweet stuff with her permission. So yes, Le sigh.
On the topic of the Ellen show, I have it set to tape on my PVR for 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 5 pm, and 10 pm, roughly, just in case one of them is interrupted or one is not the new episode, but a re-run. I think I have to work Thursday, so one of these times has to be successful. Determined. :D

I highly doubt they are going to sing Stand Back together. I mean seriously, WTF. Stand Back is not a duet song, and nobody watching Ellen gives a flying **** or rolling rim job that Rod covered it years ago.But Stand Back is Stevie's perennial TV appearance song, & the fact that Rod recorded his own version of it lends the possibility of their performing it together a lot of weight.
Either they are both on there separately OR they are on there together to announce their new albums and summer tour and they will sing a new song or one of Stevie's typical duet songs (Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Leather and Lace, Two Kinds Of Love...) OR it is infact Dave Stewart.Last time Stevie did this show, she didn't talk at all, right? As disappointing as it would be, she might not get interviewed this time, either.

20 bucks says that it's Dave and not Rod. Any takers? :)
On the other hand, I think they just did a reissue of Every Picture Tells a Story (great old rockin' Rod Stewart, not awful "crooner" 7 CDs-of-"standards"-in-a-row Rod Stewart.). An
Anyway, I still think it's Dave :)

Or the Dixie Chicks... remember how Natalie Maines basically drowned/butted her out on the VH1 Divas program?
Not to mention how she was basically a glorified back up singer for Tom Petty's tour in '06... she very much stayed in the shadows for most of the setlist.
I think Stevie does not sing over anyone these days. When she's with other artists onstage, she lets them shine and she simply supports.

i do think there will be a couch moment with Stevie and Rod after or before there performance together and they probably will announce they will be touring together this summer it makes sense to me. Since there was not a sit down interview with her 4 years ago, I am sure she will do one this time around along with Rod so if it is true they are touring together this summer it would be announced on Ellen this Thursday.

Nickslive just posted that Ricky Peterson is playing with Stevie for the Ellen show. http://nickslive.blogspot.com/2011/01/ricky-peterson-confirmed-to-appear-with.html
Basically confirming that Stevie is performing something :). The only thing that makes sense to me is she'll be performing a new song esp. on the cusp of her upcoming release which she is so excited about - why else would she be on Ellen? Otherwise it seem's like a big missed opportunity to show off a great new song and talk up her new album on a popular tv show, and Ricky did play on some of the sessions for Stevie's new album, so he knows the new material. I don't know if any of you are Adele fan's but she debuted her new song on Ellen back in November while her new release is slated for Feb.
When Stevie performed Stand Back on all those other TV appearances, she was promoting the likes of Timespace, Enchanted, Crystal Visions, all greatest hits or compilations with the exception of her 05' Today Show appearance in which she showed up to lend support after Hurricane Katrina. Her TISL TV appearances all featured her doing songs from her new record: Everyday, Fall From Grace, & Sorcerer.
I think it's looking likely we'll be hearing new material next week. I'm also betting next week or soon after her Ellen appearance we'll start seeing official information: release date, album title, track listing, PR releases and such. Things are beginning. Here's hoping we still get a March release:thumbsup:

I think it's very probable. I know we can all be cynical since we've all been living on Stevie's back catalogue/similar set lists & demos (for sanity's sake) for what seems like forever now, But that's exactly why I think she's going to perform something new and exciting. She performed "Fall From Grace" at the Blockbuster awards before TISL release date and it wasn't even close to being a single. It was a shock.
Stevie only goes on a national TV show's to promote whatever project she is selling. She will obviously be talking about her new record, and also possibly announcing her summer tour with Rod if thats actually true and not a typo. Stevie's appearance is not yet listed on Ellen's official web site. Her site only confirms through Jan.12th as of now. So this locatetv site http://www.locatetv.com/tv/ellen-degeneres-show/season-8/6971387 is looking more like a typo (fingers crossed). For Ellen to have Stevie Nicks, Ricky Gervais AND Rod Stewart all on the same show is a heavyweight line-up.
But otherwise it's totally reasonable that Warners could release a single to Itunes and Amazon next week. The record is finished & mixed and has already been making the rounds... from marketing, to the president of Live Nation, all the way to missy Michelle Branch hearing the final product.
Again I look at the recent example being, as I mentioned in my previous post, Adele performing her great new single "Rolling in the Deep" on Ellen Dec. 3rd, just 3 days after it was released to Itunes. Yes, this is all speculative & based on rational and practical deduction. But Stevie has a practical side too, as does her record label:nod:. From all accounts Stevie wants people to hear her new exciting record that she seems so proud of. If she doesn't do a new song, she is missing a huge opportunity! I think it's possible she'll perform 2 songs: one new, one old. Especially if it's Dave Stewart and not Rod Stewart on Ellen with her next week.

Stevie also sang "Stand Back" at the U.S. Festival in Calif before "The Wild Heart" was at record stores. If you look at the YouTube video, she even mentions that the album was only coming soon. (it was released about 2 weeks later.) If WB is putting her on the telly this soon, I would suspect a single is about to drop, with the CD probably coming in another month.

I remember a press release for the Blockbuster Awards listing that Stevie and Sheryl were going to perform "Sorcerer". I was pumped! Then when the show aired, Macy Gray announced that Stevie & Sheryl would be singing "Fall From Grace" and my heart sank. I was really looking forward to hearing "Sorcerer". Almost as fast as it sank, it lifted up again as soon as I heard the song! I LOVED that performance! Stevie hit EVERY high note as it was recorded! Same with the TISL tour, and I don't think she's hit those notes since.
Anyway, your post just made me remember that brilliant performance! Here's hoping they give us some sort of preview of the new album on Ellen!

I don't see how Stevie could go on Ellen and announce a new album but sing an oldie. "I've got a new amazing album coming out soon! Now let's here Landslide for the 9575th time!" So I would hope she would kick up her game and perform a new song. Also, singles usually drop on Tuesdays right? Perhaps we will get a new Stevie single this Tuesday so they can say "DOWNLOAD THE NEW SINGLE NOW ON ITUNES!" :blob2: ....but I am not holding my breath. She could very well come out and do Landslide or Stand Back, but if she isn't going to do a new song, she should atleast bring out a rare one. Love Is. Or how about Nightbird anyone?!

I have a strong feeling that this is a PR move on WB's part for Stevie to premiere her debut single for the album. Remember, WB is one of Ellen's showrunners, so it only makes sense that Stevie would make her first appearance in relation to the new album on HER show and not the Today Show or even The View. That was a very calculated move.
Also, since when has Stevie ever gone on a show to only promote a tour? In 2005-06 she was touring behind nothing, and didn't appear on any shows to promote those tours. And in 07 and 09 she was on Ellen and Today to promote CV and Soundstage. So this has to be an appearance to officially announce that she has a new album on the way.

ROD STEWART & STEVIE NICKS
Today not just one, but two legendary musicians are stopping by! ROD STEWART and STEVIE NICKS are here, and they’ll both sing one of their classic hits. Plus, they’ve got an exciting announcement that you don’t want to miss!
Before the hilarious RICKY GERVAIS hosted the Golden Globes last year, he told Ellen he wasn’t planning on being asked back. It must have been a big surprise when he found out he’s doing it again this year -- and he’s telling Ellen what to expect.
So looks like Stevie and Rod will be performing separately since they don't have a classic hit together (that I'm aware of) :blob1:

Well at least now we know she's NOT performing a new song!:( Let's hope it's something besides Stand Back or Landslide. How about TALK TO ME Stevie.
Once Dave revealed his album was not coming out till MAY last night, then reiterated Stevie's was coming out late spring, that pretty much ended my excitement that Stevie would be performing a new song. It's obvious they are doing a quick tour together cause Mama needs the money to supplement her solo album, tour, and some of the financing of this film/documentary , as well as keep up her entourage's payroll. Stevie's practical side had been in full bloom the last decade. All that touring, while not risking putting out new material until now. She's hedging her bets. Rod Takes off to Europe to begin some dates in June. So this Rod/Stevie tour will be happening pretty quickly, and most likely hit arena's somewhere between March-May?

I see this gig with Rod as Stevie's "insurance policy" in the event her album bombs (hopefully that will not be the case). Plus it gets her name out there in the limelight ahead of her release.
The question now is will she perform any new songs on this tour with Rod before her album drops. Also it begs the question, If this pairing is a runaway success, will they add more shows throughout the year? In addition will Stevie run the risk of over-saturating the market if and when she decides to tour alone to promote her new cd.

Well, I guess I was wrong :) I actually think this is kind of funny. God, what a pair. If it were the ol' rock and roll Rod, I'd be super excited. But I consider him a 100% sellout. He makes music that even he doesn't like just for the bucks. Yuck!
OK, so I guess now more speculation is in order.
1. How much are tickets going to be? I'm guessing there won't be anything under $100.
2. Who will go on first? I actually hope that Stevie goes on second, so I can avoid traffic, get to the concert late, and just go sit down when she's on.
3. How long will her set be???? If I end up shelling out big bucks, I better get a complete set!
4. Will they do a duet? Leather and Lace? Hot Legs? You're in my Heart? When I'm 64? :)

Dave tweeted this Rod tour is not her album promo tour. Some dates would be nice to get clarity. Or a confirmation from Dave would be even nicer.
The only way this would not be an "album promo tour" is if the tour occurred well before the album gets released- perhaps in the March-April timeframe. And this may explain why the album has been pushed back- so Stevie can go on one last nostalgic cash grab before she starts plugging away at her loss leader, er, new album. This is consistent with the fact that Stevie is expected to perform a "classic" as opposed to a new song on the Ellen show. Yes, she will mention that she's got something coming out soon, but I don't think this appearance, nor the Rod-Stevie tour, is about that.
Regardless of whether you want to call this a co-headlining tour or not, somebody gotta go on first! And I would bet dollars-to-donuts that it ain't gonna be Rod. Yes, I think Rod is a disgusting cheeseball sellout. But you have to admit that at least he has been prolific and he has treated his fanbase to lots of "new" music over the past decade.

I used to always think this about Robert Palmer and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On". I used to say, with that laconic attitude (per the video) what are the odds that he'd turn you on deliberately, much less unintentionally and will he be singing that as his showstopper for the rest of his life?
Unfortunately, he died and I will never know how it would have gone over in his sixties. His heart attack at the age of 54 made me think of our own guy.

Maybe they meant Stevie Ray Vaughn, or Stevie Wonder?? Forget about them mixing the Stewart's up. Since it's Rod Stewart on the show, I'm beginning to think it's actually Stevie Ray Vaughn or Stevie Wonder on there with him., why else would Dave not know anything about this?
LMAO Stevie Ray Vaughn??? Are they bringing back the dead now????
I see this gig with Rod as Stevie's "insurance policy" in the event her album bombs (hopefully that will not be the case). Plus it gets her name out there in the limelight ahead of her release.
The question now is will she perform any new songs on this tour with Rod before her album drops. Also it begs the question, If this pairing is a runaway success, will they add more shows throughout the year?
you sound like a voice of reason.:)
in fact, maybe real lindsey should show up on late-spring SNL/what's up with that as a marketing move to promote his new CD/tour. it would, in one swell swoop, do much more for him than any separate talk show appearances.

John, I had no idea Stevie Ray Vaughn was dead, leave me alone! Haha. I'm actually really excited about the show, if people don't want to hear a classic hit they don't have to watch:) it's still Stevie to me. I might feel different if I have in fact had those songs shoved down my throat since the 80's but no, I haven't, and there's lots of time for her new songs, I'll be around for a while.

Even if Stevie doesn't perform a new song, she's sure to talk about the album and tell us something we don't know ... and even if she doesn't tell us anything new, I'm still looking forward to hearing it from her own perspective. And she might still perform a new song, that notice is just from Ellen's show, not from Stevie, it doesn't have the details.

Just got this from Waddy's mailing list:
Waddy Wachtel will be performing with Stevie Nicks on the Ellen Degeneres Show 1/13/11. Also on the same show will be Rod Stewart - and Al Ortiz (our delightful WWB sub bass player, and Stevie’s bassist) will be playing bass with both Stevie and Rod. Check your local listings for broadcast time and channel. In Los Angeles it airs at 4PM on NBC (channel 4).

I highly doubt she will play Stand Back, so maybe another tired hit? Why doesn't she ever do Eo17 on these appearances? Is it too serious, or is it the fact that it has turned into a 30 minute mammoth?

EOS is definitely too long. I hope we can say she won't do Landslide or SB, because she did those last time. Maybe we will get something fun, like Talk To Me? I'm dreaming, but I feel like a TV show spot would be a cool time to do a hit that she doesn't do anymore, like Talk To Me, Rooms On Fire, etc.

"Rhiannon" is a good bet, if she shortens it up a bit. Daytime tv time constraints and all, I'm thinking nothing beyond 5 minutes. So, just to keep the guesses rolling, that leaves time for -
"Dreams"
"Landslide"
"Stand Back"
Unless she decides "If Anyone Falls" or "I Can't Wait'" would fall under 'classic hits' now. It would make my entire year if she bit the bullet and did 'I Can't Wait' which she is fully capable of performing, but I think I will guess that she is going to choose 'Dreams' on Ellen.

Agree with both of these. I know this is not the case, but the fact the she never givesout any information makes it seem like she really doesn't care about her fans. She must know that we would like at least a little information about the new album/tour or anything like that. Dave will have made her aware of all the twitter activity and yet if she chooses to ignore it, then it will really annoy me. She just doesn't get it - or chooses not to bother. Thenagain, I still care! If I didn't I wouldn't get s0 mad.

Though I'm completed deflated that Stevie's not appearing to launch her new record and sing a new song:o. This whole affair is in part to get Stevie's name out in the public again ahead of her album (and probably her greedy manager telling her, she would be crazy to pass up this opportunity and make some extra $$). So yeah, I will be moaning a little inside cause she's performing the same classic hit(s), she has done on TV the last 10+ years, but at last she is getting some exposure:). I expect Rhiannon. I would actually prefer this to Stand Back and Landslide at this point. Though on the other hand she did just perform it under a year ago at the Grammy's with u know who, and performed it on the Today Show in 07' on her CV promo appearance but she hasn't performed it on Ellen yet as she did the former two.
My last hold out for this appearance is she will rock out to Talk To Me, look absolutely beautiful, be funny and charming while dropping many tidbits about her new record AND wear a new dress:o (but I'm not holding my breath)

I predict....
Stevie will be wearing something BLACK, unflattering, with gloves
She will be wearing boots
She will have some kind of girdle or "boostier"
She will have shoulder pads like Bea Arthur circa 1986
Her hair will be ironed straight, parted on the side, with a wisp of bangs

She did those last time, didn't she? She'll probably do Rhiannon this time. But I was thinking how cool it would be if she did Enchanted, I love that song! ♥ I wouldn't mind hearing a Trouble in Shangri La song either, like Fall From Grace or Everyday, but I guess those aren't classic hits really.

I was going to predict that she just might do the acoustic version of "Love Is" which would be breathtaking but being that the ad is mentioning a "classic" song, it probably won't happen. But it should. It's not something she's sung a million times before yet it's classic enough that the casual fan would probably really love it. And it just might boost TISL's sales a wee bit. But yeah, it's prob gonna be Rhiannon. yawn.

Since she is singing a classic, I am going to go out on a bit of a limb and say she will either sing If Anyone Falls or Has Anyone Ever Written anything for You. I just dont think she is going to repeat a song she did on the same show a couple years back or something she was just recently singing on a huge appearance on the Grammies.

exactly...new album in a few months, you do a new song FROM the new album to generate excitment. It's not rocket science, it's simply promotion. Insisting she sing one of her "classic" songs only serves to banish her to oldie status. It's difficult for the average, casual fan to consider buying a new album from an artist who is continually defined by her past works.

well, they've cleared the set and lights are up - I'm guessing they're about to roll tape...
so within the next 60-90 minutes she should be on...

Damn ... Ellen was standing and clapping and I held my breath for 15 seconds just to see Ricky flipping Jervais. :p
Run and make your cup of tea now, folks, she won't be on for another while yet!
PS: I'm glad there's no sound, actually ... it gives us something to look forward to tomorrow! We may as well squeeze as much excitement out of this as possible! ;)

So Rod was first to tape - now Ricky G. is on - so I guess they'll be switching out gear for SN's band - we'll probably see them in cam 4 shortly....

I'm on Cam 2, Pattie, it shows still images of the stage at 15-second intervals. Cam 4 shows a live video of the backstage corridor.

And BTW - I'm sitting backstage somewhere else waiting for someone else to show up for rehearsals - the crew I'm working with right now is making fun of me guessing what's up with all this.... and note to self -- if I go to the Ellen Show - sit stage right/audience left....

I hope she doesn't perform "Stand Back" once again; that would be a really sad thing - the perpetual redundancy.
Granted, the song is a given crowd pleaser because it's peppy and people can groove and dance to it. It's become her default crutch. But it's so over-done, like a broken record where the needle can't move forward.
Stevie, have you ever thought of writing a new song that has a similar vibe/energy?

I can only bring up CAM 4 for some reason so I'm stuck here.

Apparently "In Your Dreams" is upbeat! And Everybody Finds Out and Destiny Rules were pretty upbeat too, imo...
