I just heard Station Man on KUTX 98.9... John Aielli (probably Austin's most famous/revered DJ/host) mentioned today was the 45th anniversary of the release of Kiln House, and how that was the last album to feature Jeremy Spencer. :)

Wow! Never heard Station Man on radio. Lucky You!! :)

Over the shoppers noise at Walmart last night .I thought I heard Rhiannon over the PA.End up some other artist singing something else.LOL..

It would be alittle strange hearing oldies on Walmarts PA system. They played U2 1980's tune and maybe thats the earliest they play there.

My local ShopRite plays oldies all the time from the 1950's and 60's.

Although technically not FM, I heard "Ebony Eyes" played today, on the same classic rock station "Hypnotized" was played on several weeks ago! Long live Bob Welch!!

What's really special and cool about this station, is that in addition to playing the hits of yesterday, new material from classic rockers is played as well!

Just today, I heard As Long As You Follow in a Steinmart in Athens, and then Don't Stop, followed immediately by Little Lies on 97.1.. Needless to say I panicked and made sure everyone was okay

DauphineMarie
10-09-2015, 09:39 PM
So apparently 97.1 is doing a "Classic Rock Block" where they play 2-3 songs from different classic rock bands at a time. Fleetwood Mac came on again, and this time they played Landslide, Tusk, and Second Hand News :blob2:

What a great night shopping at Walmart tonight musically via their PA system .First I heard "Go Your Own Way" and about 25 minutes later I heard "EO17" .Also great because their PA system was loud tonight.

Was in NYC a few weeks ago and decided to get tickets for Top of the Rock. Before you take the elevator to the top there is a huge screen where they show what happens in Rockefeller Center to make the waiting less annoying. We already passed the screen but I looked back and saw a snippet of Fleetwood Mac's performance during the Today Show at Rockefeller Plaza.

I had never heard the song Gold by John Stewart before. A couple weeks ago I heard it on the radio and I thought it sounded like Stevie so I googled it and sure enough it was her.

I heard Gold again today in my brothers car, he has satellite radio and I always turn on The Bridge. Gold by John Stewart came on then right after it, Monday Morning came on, then after Monday Morning they played one of those little promos with a montage of songs and the announcer guy's voice says "The Bridge we play 70s and 80s light rock." The first song that played in that little promo was Little Lies.

In a radio interview on Saturday, wildlife filmmaker George Buchanan chose Tusk as the song he would pass onto his children. He loves it for it's madness, mania and absurdity, and plays it on a weekly basis. The clip is here, starting at 3mins.

That is weird, as I can play it from here on Spotify. It must be to do with US rights. The song isn't amazing, but it's worth a listen. I like her voice and the backing vocals, and just the fact it's a WATL cover. It's quite true to the original, apart from a couple of noisy electronic parts in the middle of the song.

I'll try to get it downloaded. I don't have CD drive on my laptop, but I can get a friend to help.

Whenever an FM song plays when I'm thinking about them, it seems like a magical message or something.

Today, I was thinking about them and Hold Me came on in the restaurant and I thought: Aha! The universe speaks to me.

But the truth is, people in the fan community think about the band or its members more often than the average Joe, so it means nothing. I think about them often enough that one of their songs is bound to come on at some time or another. Now, I rarely think of Mick Jagger, so if the second I am thinking about him a Rolling Stone records comes on, I guess that would be something to crow about.

I was just watching a game show called '1000 heartbeats' and in one of the rounds, the contestant had to match a list of guitarists to their bands and the first one the contestant got was Lindsey Buckingham! However, it was nice that that was clearly the one that the contestant knew the best (and David Gilmour and Jimmy Page was on there too) but they spelled his name Lyndsey instead of Lindsey which really bugged me seeing as they have researchers for their questions.

How annoying is that?

Well, "Lyndsey" is quite a peculiar misspelling. I can take "Lindsay" fine, but let's be reasonable.

Since I'm a electronics buff .I love seeing these classic systems still in use today.

Remember when our parents or us older guys first played rumours on these systems back when Rumours came out. Also we have to explain to our parents why we blown a channel or speaker on the living room system. We say to them .We wanted to enjoy Stevie and Lindsey at their best.

I do the same.I putt around the store acting like I'm shopping until the tune finish. Then cash out and go to my next store stop or go home. What does drive me nuts is the page interruptions and the store sales announcements during the tune.

Got in my car and Little Lies is playing on the radio, on the "we play everything but we love the 80s" station. On Sunday nights the good classic rock station here does the "acoustic storm" and they played an outtake of Songbird, it had a lot more guitar in it. I had never heard this version before but I liked it much more than what is on Rumours. The DJ said it was "Christine McVie and Fleetwood Mac from the Rumours sessions." I thought it was quite a surprise hearing Songbird on the radio. Little Lies doesn't get played much on the radio either.

I went to a bar in downtown Los Angeles called Good Times at Davey Waynes or something to that effect. It's a renovated 70s house that is now a bar. The front door is a refrigerator. Anyway, after 2 hours of waiting in line, they finally let us in. The moment I walked in Edge of Seventeen started. It was surreal to see a room packed full of 20-something's rocking out to Stevie. Then, the last song of the night was Go Your Own Way. It was last call at this point and everyone was trashed. Such a blast!

The 70s and 80s radio station here does a "legends at 11" where they play three songs by a legendary artist at 11 am and 11 pm every day. Yesterday at 11 am they played Hold Me, Say You Love Me, then Don't Stop. The Dj usually tells a little story about the band or artist before the three songs, but I missed that part. So I don't know if the legend at 11 was Christine McVie or Fleetwood Mac. I'm assuming it was Fleetwood Mac, but they played all Christine songs.

All over the course of an amazing week of skiing. My husband and kids would look at me and roll their eyes. I would start to dance and sing.

So yesterday I went to The London Motor Show which was absolutely fantastic and for any of you that don't know, The Chain is the theme tune to the F1 so of course that was being played somewhere as I walked in. No surprise there.

The BIG surprise I had was that whilst inside looking at a brand new Rolls-Royce on a very glitzy stand, I could hear music being played in the background. As the next song started I could hear that it was YMLF so I thought wow, that's good at such a big event attended by people from all over. Then I realised, it was the live version from The Dance! How weird is that! They even kept the bit at the end with the applause and Christine saying thank you!

Maybe the organiser is a Mac fan and added The Dance to the playlist but I just thought it was strange to have that version at such a big event. I would just assume they'd play the one from Rumours.

Anyway, that was truly unexpected for me!

In October of 2014 when I went to go see Fleetwood Mac, we had gone out to dinner the night before the concert and when we got back to the hotel, You Make Loving Fun was playing in the hotel lobby..

The other night after work Hold Me came on the good classic rock station. I got in my car and it was still on a commercial so I waited to see if it was the last commercial and then the radio station came on and did their "we play only timeless music" spiel then I hear that opening piano riff of Hold Me and I blast the radio. It was awesome. It was the night after I posted a comment on here about how it's always better when songs come on the radio than it is when you play the cd in your car.

My boyfriend and I went away on a MUCH needed weekend trip to Jefferson, Texas. It's a small town with antique shops and neat restaurants. One of those restaurants was a midieval-themed place called The Knightlight Theater and Wine Tavern. They had a band on stage (3 people...two guys, 1 lady) and they were covering all sorts of songs. One of those songs just happened to be....

Gold Dust Woman!

We went back to that restaurant the next night because we not only enjoyed the food, but the atmosphere and music were wonderful too.

The band took requests and I told the lady that I loved FM and would love to hear more. She said she loved them too and was trying to convince her bandmates to play more of their songs. They did play one of my requests...Ventura Highway by America.

I heard "Crystal", the FM white album version, in Pet Supplies Plus yesterday. I was shocked!

They weren't playing the album; the next song was by The Police.

What a great song, and what a great "band" song that particular version is. Everyone shines and it all blends incredibly. With Lindsey singing that soft lead vocal and playing that acoustic guitar, and Stevie's beautiful sweet harmony, and that unbelievably peaceful keyboard melody by Christine, and Mick's perfect little fills, and John with that simple, repeated line that, as usual for him, is a melody all by itself.

It doesn't deserve to be as obscure as it is!

To Me: It's what happened when the The McVies hooked into the Americans and Mick and John drove the music. And Christine's contribution is wildly apparent after listening to the more generic B/N version. John has a walking bass line that's incredible. I turn up my subwoofer and it pumps.

I feel like Christine's outro feels like the sea. As she looked out of her flat in Malibu and imagined her parts. It's a Masterpiece of a song. Good job Stevie.

A radio station was playing "Double Shots" from albums yesterday on the regular radio while I was driving in my car. You ready for the shock of your life???
Races Are Run and Lola!!!
It sounded so raw and was amazing. Funny thing is though, their record skipped during RAR.

I was looking for this thread a few weeks ago. I have all of you beat. About 2 weeks ago I was on vacation and was eating at an Eat N Park in Homestead, PA (near Pittsburgh). They were playing Remember Me inside the restaurant. I was blown away and that is LAST song you would ever think would make it to a background music reel.

The other day "Dreams" was playing on my car radio. When it ended, I changed the station and "Dreams" was playing on that station too. Okay, just a lucky break. When I got to my destination, an outdoor mall, "Sara" was playing over the P.A. system. That kind of freaked me out that something might have happened to trigger some sort of tribute. Fortunately, it was just one of those unexpected coincidences.

I was dropping my husband off at Winnipeg International Airport, and we were grabbing a quick sandwich before his flight. The music playing in the restaurant, for our quick stay, was the following, in this order:

You make loving fun
Seven wonders
Don't stop
Go your own way
Stop dragging my heart around
Save me
Dreams

I asked the serving staff who's playlist it was......they said the owner of the restaurant made it. I said "Cool!" They looked at me funny.

Just heard Talk To Me on the radio in the car. It sorta gave me a flashback because the song came out in the winter of 1985 and it is currently winter here. I remembered in January of 1986 taking skiing lessons and that song was a radio staple at that time.

So, I am watching A Discovery of Witches. It’s Episode 3 and I have decided I am definitely falling in love and will have to read the trilogy, even though it’s just Twilight with adults. Then, my wondering ears here GYOW rev up as the couple’s romantic song. What? Matthew Goode was enough to keep me ensnared. They didn’t have to lay the GYOW trap.

I loved it.

I mentioned that they played GYOW on Discovery of Witches, although it was not Lindsey's version. After the tv series, I started reading the books and they also mention Fleetwood Mac and the popularity of the albums among witches. They talk about not only Stevie Nicks, but Christine's Over My Head too.

Here's an excerpt:

As if on cue, a strange metallic clinking and rolling started in the walls, like coins being fed into a jukebox. The musical grinding that followed, reminiscent of an old record player set to 33 rpm instead of 45 rpm, soon gave way to a recognizable song.

I cocked my head. “Is that . . . Fleetwood Mac?”

“No. Not again!” Sarah looked as if she’d seen a ghost. I glanced around, but the only invisible presence in the room was Stevie Nicks and a Welsh witch named Rhiannon. In the seventies the song had been a coming-out anthem for scores of witches and wizards.

“I guess the house is waking up.” Maybe that was what was upsetting Sarah. Sarah darted to the door and lifted the latch, but it wouldn’t budge. She banged on the wooden panels.

The music got louder. “This isn’t my favorite Stevie Nicks tune either,” I said, trying to calm her, “but it won’t last forever. Maybe you’ll like the next song better.” “The next song is ‘Over My Head.’ I know the whole damn album by heart. Your mother listened to it all through her pregnancy. It went on for months. Just when Rebecca seemed to get over her obsession, Fleetwood Mac’s next album came out. It was hell.” Sarah tore at her hair.

“Really?” I was always hungry for details about my parents. “Fleetwood Mac seems more like Dad’s kind of band.” “We have to stop the music.” Sarah went to the window, but the sash wouldn’t move. She thumped on the frame in frustration. “Let me try.” The harder I pushed, the louder the music got. There was a momentary pause after Stevie Nicks stopped warbling about Rhiannon.

A few seconds later, Christine McVie informed us how nice it was to be in over your head. The window remained closed. “This is a nightmare!” Sarah exploded. She jammed her hands over her ears to block the sound, then raced to the grimoire and flipped through the pages. “Prudence Willard’s dog-bite cure. Patience Severance’s method for sweetening sour milk.” She flipped some more. “Clara Bishop’s spell for stopping up a drafty chimney! That might work.” “But it’s music, not smoke,” I said, peering over Sarah’s shoulder at the lines of text. “Both are carried on the air.” Sarah rolled up her sleeves. “If it doesn’t do the trick, we’ll try something else. Maybe thunder. I’m good with thunder. That might interrupt the energy and drive the sound away.”

I started to hum along to the song. It was catchy, in a 1970s kind of way. “Don’t you start.” Sarah’s eyes were wild. She turned back to the grimoire. “Get me some eyebright, please. And plug in the coffeemaker.”
