OOOOooohh - they're going to come to Shea's? I may just have to go. But, I must ask - are they (or their tour manager) f*cking stupid? You don't come to Buffalo & Toronto in January, for God's sake. And you don't do it right after you were in Florida.
I wasn't that impressed with anyone last night but I didn't hate anyone either. So I didn't vote. :D
Toby - Surprisingly, I liked it. Thought I'd hate it. Liked the arrangement, good performance.
Dilana - she lost points with me for her cheesy "Dilana...Dilana..." but it made some sense after the explanation about her mom. Probably my least favotie performance of hers.
Magni - Sorry, sounded like he screamed the entire song. And I agree - enough with Niravana, esp. the hits. Deeper cuts would be OK, but not the hits over & over again.
Lukas - shocked that they liked it, he sounded very winded to me. Out of breath. Love that song though.
Patrice - damn good song, damn good performance. But more Liz Phair or even Sheryl Crow than Courtney Love. Not hard enough, not right for the band.
Ryan - OK song, great performance. I didn't like the first verse - I literally smirked at one of the lines (something about the clothes coming off.) Sounded like an SNL skit. He's kind of cookie cutter for me - looks, acts & sings the same as countless other guys out there.
Storm - Awesome vocal, but something's not right with her lately. She's definitely slipping for some reason. I can't put my finger on it.
Bottom 3 prediction: Patrice, Magni, Storm. Patrice will go.

Toby - I like it too. they have to think about their audience too. seeing him run around shirtless may bring in more peeps  it'd sho get my ass there.
Dilana was good, but almost boring. I agree the "Dilana" parts make a little more sense, but still I was like "oh god" - the story was sad.
I liked Magni - I think he did a great job. sick of Nirvana.
I hate the way Lukas says his S's. it irks the **** out of me. I was surprised the guys liked it so much.
Patrice was good. she sounds a lot like Gwen Stefani (circa early 90's) to me. song was cute, but not great. and I agree she's just not right for the band.
if Ryan makes one more frown face I may throw up. work on that hun. and I thought throwing the guitar right after they said they wanted to see something like that was, while cool, still cheesy.
Storm was ok, nothing to write home about. I love her attitude. it's so cool. her problem is she's got very limited range.

DILANA - totally turned me off. the lashes...ridic. yes, jazzy...she feels she has won the comp and should get head in check before her bubble is burst. madprops for the poolrun.
RYAN - I liked his performance. I think the guys are right in that he is getting better. I liked the way he man-handled his stick.
MAGNI - Even though it was another Nirvana song, I liked the way he layed it out.
TOBY - Go home mate.
PATRICE - I liked some parts of the song. She seemed more comfortable with her performance which is always a good thing.
LUKAS - I find myself bored as he doesn't switch it up enough for me. Every performance seems to run into the other. I was hopeful, now I am not.
STORM - dig the eye makeup. I thought she may butch the song but she did well considering.
bottom 3 toby, patrice, storm

I really want Dilanna to win. I think she's perfect for this band but she's kinda turned me off too with some of her comments. Does Tommy really like Lukas (and what did he say to Lukas about his performance, I couldn't hear it?) or is he just saying **** like that to throw us off, since it seems like Dilanna has it in the bag?

LAist managed to stop crying for a few minutes last night (over our girl Zayra’s shocking departure last week) to tune into the latest episode of Rockstar: Supernova. So Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted are continuing their search for a singer to front their band. Here’s what we got left:
Storm Large (yes, again, that’s the name she uses): Good singer, but a little too karaoke for our taste. She’s definitely the show’s resident drama queen. Her rendition of Aerosmith’s “Cryin’” showed us how good of a singer Stephen Tyler really is.
Toby Clark: Yummy Aussie beefcake. He put together an interesting arrangement of Clapton’s “Layla” last night – and as Tommy Lee pointed out, the chicks really dig him.
Ryan Star: The dark, brooding musician who’s piqued our interest lately. He sung an original song of his last night – a romantic ditty about doing it in the backseat of a car. The band asked why the radical improvement over the last few weeks. His answer: “I got laid.” That definitely scored points with Supernova. But he’s got to ease up on the mascara.
Patrice Pike: She also wrote the song she sang last night. We can’t really remember what it was about, but we don’t much care because she’s probably the next to go.
Magni: The ice man from Iceland performed Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” decently. He seems like a really nice family man, level-headed and well-liked by everyone – so how does that fit in with the rock’n’roll lifestyle?
And finally our two favorites:
Dilana took a really mellow song – “Every Breath You Take” by the Police – and put her lower register, breathy Stevie Nicks-esque voice stamp on it. While we don’t think that this was one of her better performances, she surely knows how to captivate an audience.
Lukas Rossi (photo) sang the Killers’ “All These Things” and started out strong vocally, but was a little off toward the end of the performance. In general, Lukas comes off as an arrogant punk who can’t dance for crap – and the Supernova boys love it. He could be the favorite right now. But, again, his too much makeup bugs us. Remember boys: a little goes a long way.
Tonight one of them will get the boot – and we’ll be surprised if it’s someone other than Patrice.

I actually enjoyed Lukas' performance this time, though it may have been the song. I liked the little primp in the mirror of the guitar. Making fun of the rockstar thing is good, especially when you are living in darkglasses.
Toby, that was a lame arrangement of Layla, and the hoodie outfit, even as precursor to shirtlessness was just lame also.
Dilana's version of "Every Breath You Take" was just boring and kinda bad. She can strut, but I don't think she can emote. I also think her vocal range is sadly limited, but that isn't really necessary for Supernova. I suppose her mother might have sung the little "Dilana, Dilana" thing to her as a child, and that is what I am going to tell myself, otherwise it would just be too repulsive. I liked the eyelashes, but I like them in a dance club better.
Patrice's song was happy, and she rocked, although it was weak, lyricly, and probably not right for this group.
I think Storm has decided she doesn't want to be in this group. I think she is bored with the music. I thought she did an excellent job, vocally, but her moves on stage were tired, repetitive.
I am begnning to think that nobody is good for this group, send them all home! In fact, send the band home too! Has beens, and never gonna be's.

why this group needs a lead singer when Gilby, in the past, has competently sung lead for bands he was involved in (ie-KillForThrills).
Yeah, Gilby replaced Izzy Stradlin' in GNR in 1991 after Izzy left the band while on tour...And was fired around 1994. He is still friends w/W.Axl Rose.
Jason joined ME-Tallica ( ) after the death of Cliff Burton-"the major rager on the 4 string muthaf**ker".
As for Tommy Lee, Not to be taken in a racist way, but he wishes to be black (With all his contrived "Yo dawg" talk and hip-hop wannabe solo music). He has become a bigtime joke.
Sadly, Most metalheads think Supernova is a corporate joke that wont fly...More like a "never will" than "has-beens".

What they needed was $$, and a PR kickstart, which I guess is what the show is. There a re so many bands that are corporate constructions, metal and pop. My friend was in a metal band in the 80's that had some famous people in it (a parade of guitar virtuosos) and some guys they used to call the "company men". We watched Spinal tap with them one night, and not one of them found it funny, as they were big in Japan at the time.

Grrr! Crying Over Reality TV
Wednesday, August 23, 2006
By Mike Straka
While the hugely successful "American Idol" has spawned its fair share of copycats, primarily from the people involved with "American Idol," it's safe to say that the best imitator is from Mr. Reality TV himself — Mark Burnett.
I'm talking about "Rock Star: Supernova," over on that other network, CBS.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've never have I cried so much during any TV series before. Not even "Friends," although I cried over that show because I couldn't believe we as Americans adopted that group as our alter egos, but I digress.
If you're not familiar with the summer series, "Rock Star" is a singing competition where unknown singers vie against one another to front a big-named band.
Like most reality shows, the contestants live in the same house for those dramatic personality clashes — a reality TV staple since MTV's "Real World." But for the most part, these folks are pretty decent, so the fights aren't nearly as entertaining as the performances.
Last season "Pretty Vegas" singer/songwriter J.D. Fortune won the prize, and is now the lead singer of '80s rock giant INXS — who have made a pretty good comeback since the show.
This time around, we're down to the final six to front a new band, Supernova, which stars the notorious Tommy Lee on drums, Metallica's Jason Newsted on bass and legendary guitarist Gilby Clarke on, well, yeah, guitar.
But while the band is extremely important to the credibility of the show — after all, along with co-host Dave Navarro the guys judge the talents of the contestants — it's Burnett's crew that does one hell of a job casting the show with unknown yet compelling talent.
These men and women hail from all over the world.
Dilana, from Johannesburg, South Africa, is this generation's Stevie Nicks (although Tina Turner works just as well). She is a performer who can handle just about any rock song ever written, and she makes each one her own in a way that blows the listener's mind.
And if you can get past the tattoos and the facial piercings (I know), Dilana will have you in the palm of her hand like that sixth grade teacher you harbored your very first crush on.
A few weeks ago she sang Cat Stevens' "Cats in a Cradle" and I've got to tell you, I wept like a baby.
But it wasn't the first time.
New Yorker Ryan Star had me crying when he did REM's "Everybody Hurts," solo on piano. Intense, with a beautiful voice and a commanding stage presence, Star is hands down a star.
Then I cried again when Iceland's already famous Magni had his family flown in (he's got a baby boy just learning to walk), and the courageous singer strapped on a guitar and did Live's "The Dolphins Cry" acoustic, with no backup band.
Amazing is the only word to describe the performance.
Magni followed up a few episodes later with "Creep" by Radiohead that also had me choking back tears.
Australia's pretty boy Toby Rand has pulled some great performances out of his hat, and his arrangement on the classic "Layla" — appropriately updating it with some grunge — was a nice surprise.
And while Massachusetts blonde beauty Storm Large will most likely not be fronting Supernova, she'll have no problem packing them in with her band The Balls.
Throw in a great rock voice in the form of Canadian Lukas Rossi, a performer with a unique flair for costume, hair and makeup (I never thought I'd be writing those words in succession), and this show is a must-see for anybody who loves music.
I don't know about you, but to me music is an extraordinary thing, and when it's done right, like it is on "Rock Star: Supernova," it's a truly powerful experience.
Watching "Rock Star" twice a week during the summer is like going to a private concert in an intimate rock club, complete with the best House Band in the country, great lighting and the hottest hosts in Brooke Burke and Navarro.
Throw in notoriety and rock legends, and you've got yourself a helluva good time.
My only complaint is that CBS doesn't air this show in High Definition. Grrr!

That's true. Actually, Graham Bonnet had a pretty good sense of humor too. I didn't know them all that well, but the drummer, Jan Uvena was an ex of my best friend, and we got to be good friends. I went and saw them rehearse at Ronnie James Dio's rehearsal space which was really funny (and very Spinal Tap) because there were all of these huge stage props of demons and hellish beasts in the airplane-hangar sized rehearsal space.
My friend and I went to some shows all dolled up, and that was pretty fun. Otherwise, it was sort of sad being around the aging rockers, about to be cut from their label. The guitarists were the only onces going anywhere. I was always in awe of Jan's drumming, and Graham's voice.

If the first two Supernova songs are the best they have written for their new album, I'm not sure anyone would want to front this band.

If the first two Supernova songs are the best they have written for their new album, I'm not sure anyone would want to front this band.
Nor would anyone in their right mind want to buy an album or see a show. What crap!
So, I am finding it very interesting to watch sexism play out in such a major way on this show. First, we have to wait several weeks before the band says they can finally imagine a woman fronting a band. Then we have the tired go-go girls gyrating last week.
This week, we have a ten minute focus on Dilana the bitch. Let's remember that last year, J.D. was very tough on his housemates, yet was lauded by Dave as someone who is showing he really wants to win the competition. Earlier this season, Ryan said horrible things to Dana (which is why I will never like him), yet he received nothing close to a slap on the wrist.
Fast forward. Dilana makes some honest comments about what she thinks of her competitors and is slammed. Granted, she made a big mistake doing that to the media, but this is nothing more than the typical case of tough men are seen as aggressive and tough women are bitches.

I got this email from Shelly King - another local songstress:
"My friend and fellow songstress Ginger Leigh was in L.A. for the show taping on Sunday. Later, she coincidentally ran into Gilby Clarke, guitarist for Guns & Roses and now guitarist for Supernova and a judge on Rockstar. She asked him what was up with Patrice and he told her that he LOVED Patrice and thought she was the one for the band but that he couldn't save her if she lands in the bottom three again. She's already been in the B3 three times. So vote, people, vote! Patrice is a Rockstar! She's definitely the best songwriter of the bunch and Supernova is needs a good songwriter."
BTW, "Beautiful Thing" is the first single off Patrice's new album, coming out in October. Smart girl, playing that in front of a worldwide audience. I think she knew she was going, so why try to impress Supernova anymore? It's all about HER now! ;)

Agreed. If anyone on the show has the right to be a bit arrogant, or to give advice to the younger or less experienced people, she does. She's obviously one of the front runners, and I think they want to bring her down a notch or two. It's as if they wanted to purposely show her in a negative light to diminish her advantage. I don't think she should have said those things to the media, but on the other hand she's nothing if not honest, and I'm sure she said some positive things about people that were conveniently edited out. Lukas rarely has a nice thing to say about anyone, barely ackowledges others' good performances & looks like he's pouting all the time - nobody's mentioned that. Bottom line is ratings - conflict is good on TV.
Grrr! Crying Over Reality TV

I'm embarrassed to say that I've never have I cried so much during any TV series before.....
Um, you should be. There have been great performances, but they don't come close to making me tear up.
BTW - I agree, the Supernova tunes are nothing special (although that damned "leave the lights on" one is stuck in my head as of late.) I'm a tad embarrassed that Newsted is up there, he looks out of place to me. Sellout.

Well, while dramatic, I think the statement in 20 words or less that she "didn't mean what I said but stand by what I said" says a lot.
I happen to agree, no matter how she may be portrayed/edited for ratings sake, that she is a bitch. She may feel she is great at what she does, and she may well be a good singer and performer, but to trash someone else's performance and/or singing ability is ridic. It is for this alone that I hope she doesn't win. She said herself she doesn't want to "share the stage with anyone" and I believe that would include Supernova. I love that Ryan ripped her, and based on her reaction and those of others, I do not believe this is an "act" for ratings. I love that she stewed in her own chit.
I was surprised Magni was in the bottom three, especially since Storm was "saved." However, I did not care for his performance of Fire and IMO is kidding himself if he truly thinks he will receive the encore.
I became fond of Patrice, and wish her well.

If the first two Supernova songs are the best they have written for their new album, I'm not sure anyone would want to front this band.
anything by Supernova, nor do I think I would want to.
I do find it humorous that both Gilby & Jason are continually referred to as members of their former bands, instead of as ex-members.
I do agree with a fellow Sludger on metalsludge's world famous newsboard: "If Gilby & Jason only drew crowds of 100-150 for each's perspective solo shows in bars/clubs, then Supernova is using Tommy Lee as the drawing power for an arena tour, because some contest winner wont have any drawing power in a band of big egos....Maybe that is why Jason suddenly has the look on his face of "why did I leave Metallica?"."

But she didn't trash anyone's performance or singing ability. She questioned if a couple of people really wanted to front the band, and told Ryan that the band helped him out more than he knows. Of course, Navarro was spot on by saying the band helps everyone, including her. I'm not saying she's not a bitch, and she probably should have just kept her mouth shut. BUT it's not as if she's running off her mouth saying "oh, they suck, they can't sing, I have more talent...."
Like Ryan (our Ryan) said, when a guy talks ****, he's got balls & ambition. When a chick does it, she's an evil bitch. Lukas can roll his eyes during other performances, but she can't answer a question? OK.
I DO think this will affect her popularity as far as voting goes, at least next week. Unless she does the absolute best performance she's ever done, I really think she might be bottom 3.

^ No, I believe she said "that performance would have been nothing without the house band." I could be wrong. So I guess she did critique a performance. Whatever. She's honest, and I like her. I honestly think that she means for her critiques to be advice to the younger less experienced, not to be mind games to make them feel small. I don't think they would be so offended if they were sure of themselves. I haven't heard her critique Storm or Magni or Patrice, unless I missed it. I have to assume it's cuz they've been around & know what they're doing on stage.
At least she (and Storm, especially) are up & moving & dancing & singing along with good performances, clapping & cheering & supporting the other contestants - which is more than I can say for Lukas.
I don't think the whole "strong women are bitches" was the early 90's - it's been said & assumed long before that. And I disagree that it doesn't apply anymore - there's still a double standard in the media, and in society.

I just don't think the statement is true...from my experiences...anymore. If a woman is agressive, I wouldn't consider her a bitch by my standards. I suppose I didn't/don't care for the attitude. Is it possible the others aren't insecure, but rather secure in that they haven't asked for her advice...she just gives it? If one could call that advice. I haven't seen her offer any recommendations for improvement.
I thought it would be a good time to provide this excerpt from Ryan's bio: "He was 14 years old when he formed his first band called Stage with his high school buddies. They swiftly found success. The rocking group of youths, with Ryan at lead, played the legendary CBGB's and Mercury Lounge with parents in tow (they were underage). But when the group began recording their second album, Ryan needed more. Spreading his wings and enriching his life, he decided to move in a different direction--to "take the leap and follow my heart." Good move. As the solo artist R.Star, Ryan is currently one of the top musicians in NYC and a newly emerging national phenomenon. He was recently a "Featured Artist" on MySpace, and Billboard magazine praised his critically acclaimed debut solo album "Songs from the Eye of an Elephant.""
If Dilana hasn't "critiqued" Storm or Magni or Patrice it is probably due in part that she doesn't feel threatened by them...IMO.

I think Dilana trashed Ryan's performance. My issue is why does she get nailed for 10 minutes when no one batted an eye after Ryan told Dana she was an "embarrassment".
It's because Dilana is a woman.
Things might be a little better, but the double standard is still out there in politics, the corporate world, all parts of life.
As for performances this week, I actually thought Ryan was good. I just hate him. I also thought Toby's elimination performance (Stone Temple Pilots) was quite good, as was Magni's. I thought Dilana was a bit boring. I think the band is ridiculous. I'm starting to really like Dave Navarro.

I agree. However, it was easier to see who fit in with INXS because JD was replacing a known entity and INXS had a catalog of hit songs. With Supernova there really isn't any way to judge who is right and who isn't, especially based on their first two songs.
As for Dilana, I agree there is a double standard. I wouldn't have made the comments she did but we also have no way of knowing by the way the show was edited if anyone else made any remarks. There were very few clips of the others during the interview process. The true test will be how Dilana handles herself from this point on. Supernova basically put her on the pedestal from the beginning and it may have been their own way of bringing her back down to earth. Cheap way to boost ratings.

I really like Dilana and I think that these shows, by way of editing, can make someone look really awful (or really good, depending on what they want us to see). Her comments were unprofessional, but as Dave Navarro wrote in his blog, ALL of them (he and the members of Supernova, especially Tommy Lee) have made stupid comments to the press. Other than her press statements, I think she has shown herself to be very caring and helpful to the other contestants.

Dilana was mad at herself over the media clinic thing. They talked about it more at dinner and she got upset and left the table. She was outside w/ Magni and when the camera crew got too close, she flipped them off, smashed a glass on the ground and walked away. A piece of glass bounced off the ground and cut Magni's head. It was an accident, but still. The other contestants, mainly Lukas, were saying that she's self-destructing - that some people can't handle being at the top.

The series follows the search for a vocalist to join the new band, formed by MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee, former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted and one-time GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilbey Clarke. @#$%^&*(#$%^& says the band had the most clout when it came choosing the winner in the competition because they will have to go on the road with them.

really? I was bored to tears. I gotta give Storm props for working her ass off on that song. it wasn't fabulous, but she pulled it off. Dilana was ok. I was embarassed for Ryan...couldn't watch Lukas...Magni wasn't really anything special. Toby was best to me.

Toby was best to me.
I am thinking Toby is hotter and hotter every week. He's not the most talented and he won't win, but I can't help but root for him. Hope he stays around for a while longer for eye candy benefit.
Everyone was good tonight
I actually liked everyone too. Some were just smoother and cooler(Lukas), and some looked like they had to try really hard (Ryan, Storm). I love Dilana again. I don't care if she's a bitch. The beginning, with her guitar and the high kick? Awesome.
Bottom three: Storm, Ryan, and Magni.
Will they send two home tonight and next week?

What a great show tonight! They were all so good. I really enjoyed Storm's performance. I don't know why Gilby was so down on it. Dilana was great playing her guitar and looked very comfortable on that stage. I loved Ryan's performance of Clocks. Toby is adorable. I'm sure his little black book is mighty full. Magni was vocally spot on. I can't wait to see who gets to front the band tomorrow night.

He is having that same effect on me. The camera caught him at just the right angle and you could really see his eyes. I saw a lot of sincerity there and a funny, nice guy. When those girls were on the stage dancing with him, I saw someone's hand go across him stomach and cop a feel of his abs.
I love Dilana again. I don't care if she's a bitch. The beginning, with her guitar and the high kick? Awesome.

After the previous night's chit performance, Lukas pulled it out...however I don't think his psuedo-operetic stylings are a match with the SN sound...call me crazy! ;)

I still think Lukas is going to win.
Storm's cheerleading stageside antics are really starting to bother me, and it's disrespectful toward the performer. I liked Patrice's Helter Skelter better. Storm's was too much screaming, I didn't like her Kid Rock outfit, nor her hip-hop dance moves, and she was off-key many times.
I really wasn't expecting Ryan to go so soon. But I agree, his Who antics were absurd. Gilby actually looked pissed off when Ryan started climbing the speaker.
I think Supernova had already decided to boot both Ryan and Storm. They kept Storm so Dilana won't be the only female remaining. And it's better for the male viewer ratings to keep her around.

Okay, stop calling my girl a dipchit!
She's just confident. All of them have the same bravado. She kicked ass on Tuesday night and there is no reason in the world to think they would send her home this week (except for what I said above, to send a message about the violence, but the time to have done that had already passed).
And, sorry, I saw the tears at the end of the show. Maybe she dropped a little of that champagne under her eyes when the camera wasn't looking, but here eyes were wet!
Back to the contest, I think Lukas, Dilana, and Magni are the strong contenders. All three look completely comfortable with themselves just rocking out. Toby, Storm, and our dearly departed Ryan look like they are spending all week coming up with a new "gimmick" or theatrical move. I thought the pulling up of chicks for Rebel Yell was pretty weak and I laughed when Toby realized they were blocking him from the camera, so he pushed them aside to get in front.
Also, SN is sending too many mixed messages. They constantly say "bring us something new", they laud Ryan for doing just that, they tell Storm she doesn't do it, then they send Ryan home. I don't like Ryan, but it doesn't make sense. They are keeping Storm to have more than one woman in the competition at this point, which is fair enough, but if I were one of the performers I'd be confused. And Ryan had some good reason to be pissed. I rather enjoyed his snotty parting comments.

Well, I haven't seen all of the shows, since I am relying on the internet, but it seems like they have been asking for "memorable" performances and artistic "growth". Ryan kept changing his style in a way that seemed like flailing in desperation, but they called that growth. I disliked his voice on most of his songs.
Storm is still around because she is talented, and funny, and she has fans.
There are many double standards on the show, for instance, why didn't Gilby knock Dilana for swinging her leg over the shoulder of, and mounting the head of, the guitar player? Dilby ripped into Jill for grinding on him, but he ignored Dilana's move.
...and another thing  The fashion on the show is bugging me. Dilana looks like she belongs in that band Dead Or ALive, or Hayze Fantayze, Storm's outfits have been mostly ugly. Does Toby need his chain wallet on stage? Lukas is too cluttered, and Magni is undecorated.

I *did* see that. What's his deal? I can understand why he moved away from Jill in the grinding performance (maybe hard to paly guitar while being bumped) but I thought it was sort of awful for him to comment on it, even constructively. I thought everyone did a phenomenal job on Tuesday night this week. Dilana was my favorite, and I liked Toby & Magni too. And Lukas. And Storm. OK, forget it - the only one I wasn't thrilled with was Ryan. :wavey:
The Wed elimination show - as I posted previously, I knew Dilana would be in the bottom. But the band digs her & I also knew she wouldn't be going home. I wasn't thrilled with "Psycho Killer" but I'm not a big fan of Talking Heads. I hated Ryan's "Baba O'Reilly", it was desperate. Storm was very good, but I do agree that they mainly just want to keep 2 chicks around for one more week & I think that's why Ryan actually went.
I'm assuming that when the fans got to vote, they had to pick from songs already done?

I think so, and I also think that the reason the songs are somewhat limited is because the show has to get permission from the original artists. I thought I heard that somewhere- I could be wrong.

http://www.6767.com/
If you haven't watched the online reality show I suggest you do. There is a lot of heat regarding Dilana's "screw you to the fans" comment. I can't figure out what she could have possibly meant. Part of me wants to think that she was referring to the haters online and that it ACCIDENTALLY CAME OUT WRONG (I had to cap that, because it is evident by some comments that I didn't type it loud enough!), but then again, that girl really need to learn to think before she opens her mouth. She does go on to say that she needs her fans later in the episode, so it is more than a little confusing in terms of where the hell she is coming from. Onstage I think she is amazing, but off stage, she has the potential to really piss off a lot of people. It seemed that she was redeeming herself from a couple of weeks ago, but I really think that she may have signed her own Supernova Death Certificate with this one. I am curious to see what happens because I have always wondered how much of an impact the online episodes have on the voting. Control-Alt-Delete.

He makes the three geezers look old whereas Toby doesn't. Lukas is a cute little imp though. Very endearing. Please let Stormy get to sing with Supernova tomorrow night.
ITA with this. Storm was my favorite, followed closely by Toby and then Lukas. didn't like Magni much at all. Dilana bored me.

Dilana's original song said to me "I know I'm not going to win, but I am who I am, and I'm okay". And it was really boring, as was her uninspired take on the Who song. I'm a little sad today because she really moved me for weeks. I think she's got major personal issues that put her in a self-destructive mode.
I also think she was been set up as the new tension magnet once Zayra was cut. For example, last night, they kept cutting to a shot of her looking bored during her colleagues' performances while everyone else was cheering. I think it was the same shot shown over and over.
Anyway, goodbye Dilana, thank you for the weeks of magic. I will always have my memories of Zombie, Lithium, Ring of Fire, Time After Time, Cats In The Cradle.
The rest: I thought Storm kicked ass. This is the first time I've even enjoyed her at all. Loved Lukas' cover. Loved Toby's original. Magni is just Magni--very talented, pleasant to look at, but a little boring.
I think Storm is the new dark horse, but right now I'd say Toby and Lukas are frontrunners.

Dilana

Lukas
Dilana will probably go. Although I have a feeling the band may let Magni go - mainly due to his family. I don't know if he'll want to leave his baby for that long to tour & I think the band knows it.

yeah, I was a little like "ehhh" when she started hobbling around.

Yes. If they had decided they wanted to keep her around based on her talent rather than sacrificing her for the drama, she'd be in an altogether different situation right now. It was the relentless focus on her screw-up that led to her self-destructing so badly. I just wish she hadn't made it so easy for them to make her look so nuts. Why couldn't she have better control of all her issues? Oh Dilana, why do you have to be such a mess? Her resignation to it now is sad to watch.

I'm not a huge fan, but I do think he's a good fit for the band. I personally think that his actions on stage are directly ripped off from Mick Jagger & Scott Weiland. I know imitation is the best form of flattery, but it's pretty ridiculous. His voice is very rough, very R&R, so that's why I think he has a good shot.

I was really excited about Storm's performance's , although, I wish she could have sung "What the Fuq is LadyLike?" instead of "What the What...". After the webisode, and Gilby's comments about Toby, I am betting on Toby as the winner now.

We've talked quite a bit about double standards on this board. No one attacked Lukas for not knowing "You Can't Always Get What You Want", but Dilana got yet another slap for not knowing the Who song.
I really think once Zayra left, the producers needed a new person for drama, and Dilana unfortunately gave them that opportunity. She was treated a little unfair, in my opinion, but ultimately is responsible for her downfall.

Judge Sides With Original Supernova In 'Rock Star' Suit
David has defeated Goliath.
According to a Tuesday (September 12) ruling by San Diego Judge John Houston, the producers of CBS' "Rock Star" are going to have to come up with an alternate name for Supernova, the band made up of Motley Crüe's Tommy Lee, Voivod's Jason Newsted and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.
Last month, the original Supernova — an Orange County, California, punk trio — filed for a preliminary injunction in San Diego's U.S. District Court against CBS Broadcasting, Mark Burnett Productions and Lee, Newsted and Clarke, who are starring in the second season of the reality show. The injunction sought to halt the television-contrived act from performing or recording under the name "Supernova" if the band fails to change or add any words to the moniker.
Lee, Newsted and Clarke were dropped as defendants late last month at the request of the original Supernova's lawyers (see "Supernova File Injunction Against Tommy Lee's 'Rock Star: Supernova' ").
Earlier Tuesday, Houston granted the request from the members of the original Supernova — bassist Art Mitchell, drummer Dave Collins and guitarist Jodey Lawrence — for the preliminary injunction. The injunction keeps the producers of "Rock Star: Supernova" — which concludes Wednesday night — from "performing rock and roll music, or recording, or selling rock and roll music recordings under the same [name], pending a trial of this action on its merits, or until otherwise ordered by the court."
The original Supernova — which formed in 1989 and released four studio LPs — first filed suit against the show's producers in late June (see "Supernova Sue 'Rock Star: Supernova' Producers, Bandmembers"). The filing alleged trademark infringement and sought a jury trial, as well as the eradication of all "labels, signs, prints, packages, wrappers, containers, advertisements, electronic media and other materials bearing the Supernova mark."
Supernova are perhaps best known for their tune "Chewbacca," which appeared on the soundtrack to Kevin Smith's 1994 film "Clerks." When the group discovered the show's producers' intentions to use Supernova as the name for their supergroup, the band contacted them; negotiations between both sides followed on the heels of the suit's filing. Those talks hit a wall last month, forcing the band to take additional legal action to protect its rights.
The suit insisted that the "Rock Star" producers willfully ignored the fact that the Supernova moniker was unavailable and that "individuals within defendants' own organizations informed defendants of plaintiff's rights in the Supernova mark." Using the Supernova name would cut into the original band's future earnings, as it would interfere "with plaintiff's business relationships" or cause the band to lose merchandising deals and potential offers to perform, according to the suit. The filing also suggested that some fans of the band might be confused and therefore duped into buying the new Supernova's merchandise and music.
In his ruling, Houston acknowledged that "the marks are identical, the parties operate in very similar or identical markets, the Supernova is distinctive and therefore strong, and there is evidence of actual confusion in the market." Houston further noted that "irreparable harm [to the original Supernova] is presumed" and added that "defendants access to [a] large amount of monetary and promotional resources will effectively diminish, if not eliminate, [the original Supernova's] commercial presence in the marketplace."
The decision, in short, bars the CBS-created rockers from touring, recording and selling merchandise as "Supernova" once the order takes effect. First, the original Supernova must post bond, the amount of which has yet to be determined by the court.
The "Rock Star" band will launch an American tour December 31 in Las Vegas, with dates scheduled through February 27 in Long Beach, California. The Panic Channel, the band featuring "Rock Star: Supernova" co-host and former Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, has been tapped to open on all the trek's dates (see "Dave Navarro Juggles TV And Guitar, Shrugs Off Panic Channel Sales"

here's what I'm thinking...
4th: Lukas - I'm not sure he could actually front the band. and I don't know that his "look" is well-suited for the band either.
3rd: Magni - not much stage presence and I think the band would drown in a sea of band just like the one that Magni would make them.
2nd: Dilana - a great stage persona, great vocal skills, but I really think her style is quite different than that of the band.
Win: Toby - he's got killer looks, killer moves and a killer voice. he's the only one that I think can really hang, vocally, that is. and he's got such a sexy vibe.

That's kind of why I don't like it. It's too "teen angst" for me. He strikes me as a young kid lately (which he is) as opposed to the leader of a brock band.

Oh ****! Sorry, I forgot. Hello, anyone from the east coast? The show was all screwed up. It started out with Brooke in the same dress as last nite, showed highlites from the whole season, went to a commercial, came back in the middle of Toby' performance, Lukas and Dilanna had already performed and Magni was gone. I thought it started at 8:00, was it 7:00?

No problem in finding out early. I expected to in opening the thread. In a way I am surprised Lukas was picked. I thought he may be earlier on, but then Toby seemed to pull forward. Based on the reported plans of the band (one tour/album) they probably chose who they were most comfortable with and who they thought would pull some seats. Don't they have to cease with "supernova" afterall? I don't plan on seeing them or purchasing an album. I wonder what's new with JD/INXS.
