I'm telling ya this Hall & Oates song is genuis (This is the unplugged live version from their Behind the Music CD)....below is some of the verses. This song has brought me to tears. Not many tunes can do that to me anymore.
Well some people think
If you really believe
Then thats all you need
to solve all the mysteries
Well I know someone
She just heads for the sun
She says I dont wanna be wise,
I just wanna stay young
So close...yet so far away
So close...yet so far away
We believe in tomorrow
To be more than today
Then we lie down to sleep
So close, but so far away
There's a restless look in your eye tonite
There's a secret hurt on my heart
And the dream that pulls us together girl
Is a dream...that pulls us
So close, yet so far away

KILLERS LYRICS
Mr Brightside
I'm coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke
And she's taking a drag
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his-chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, letting me go
I just can't look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
'Cause I'm Mr Brightside
I'm coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke

I cannot get past the awfulness of that. I simply cannot. And the song sounds like dated mallpop that you hear as you flutter past Bath and Body Works.
Killer video, though, if it's the one I'm thinking of with Eric Roberts.

Stevie Nicks lyrics:
Jane
Such a little girl... such a hard life
She could look a challenge... right between the eyes
Disappointment... would become her middle name...
Up against the wall, Jane
So her nights became nightmares...
As she fought for their souls
And the days became worse...
For the ones she had lost
Children of the world...
the forgotten chimpanzee
In the eyes of the world...
You have done so much for me
There are angels... here on earth... angels
There are angels... here on earth...
Angels... send from God
Come away from the wall... stay with us
Well you can, Jane
So she watched as they put them all into cages
Well they might as well have caged her very own baby
They might as well have put us both into prison
Through a window... all our sorrows...
Would become our only visions...
Nothing more
There are angels here... angels
There are angels here on earth... angles
Angels... send from God
You will never feel... that you have ever done enough
But you have, Jane
Such a little girl... such a hard life
You could look a challenge... straight between the eyes
Disappointment... would become her middle name
Up against the wall, Jane
Nothing more then the shadow of a man
Come away from the wall, Jane
Well they might as well have put us both into prison
Come away... if you can, Jane
Through a window... all our sorrows...
Will become our only visions
Come away, Jane...
Come away... come away if you can
In the eyes of the world... you have done so much

is hauntingly poignant and just so moving when you consider she is talking about poor caged animals who are forced to watch their cagemates tortured and experimented on.

That's nice. I think Jane Goodall deserved far better. I mean, c'mon:
So she watched as they put them all into cages
Well they might as well have caged her very own baby
They might as well have put us both into prison
Those lines are cringeworthy; they sound like something anyone could have written.

"Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?"-Megadeth
"What do you mean, I don’t believe in God?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, I don’t support your system?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, I can’t get to work on time?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, I don’t pay my bills?
Why do you think I’m broke? huh?
If there’s a new way,
I’ll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.
What do you mean, I hurt your feelings?
I didn’t know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, I ain’t kind?
I’m just not your kind.
What do you mean, I couldn’t be President, of the United States of America?
Tell me something, it’s still "we, the people", right?
If there’s a new way,
I’ll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.
Can you put a price on peace?
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
Peace sells...,but who’s buying?
No, peace sells..."

to that vile **** known as Empty-Vee (Among other corporate music swill):
"Just Let Me Breathe"
"Open your eyes
And turn off your mind
Step right up folks and you will find
A growing trend
An epidemic
Spread with zen
And hypodermics
Just close your mind
You can find all you need with your eyes
The big machines take care of you
Until you kill yourself
And then the sales go through the roof
Calculated, formulated
Feed my head with simple thoughts
And let me breathe instead of being taught
All bottled up and tearing at the seams
I'm bored
Just let me breathe
A daily dose of eMpTyVee
Will flush your mind right down the drain
Shannon Hoon and Kurt Cobain,
Make yourself a household name
Just close your mind
You can find all you need with your eyes
The big machines take care of you
Until you kill yourself
And then the sales go through the roof
Calculated, formulated
Feed my head with simple thoughts
And let me breathe instead of being taught
All bottled up and tearing at the seams
I'm bored
Just let me breathe
Strike up your best angst ridden posture
Manufactured anger
Let's not forget my legacy
All my heroes have failed me
Now they're dead and buried
Just close your mind
You can find all you need with your eyes
The big machines will take care of you
Until the fashion fades
And the checks go through
My bankroll's red
And my face is blue
And still they'll turn their backs on you for someone new
Feed my head
With some real thoughts
And let me think instead
Of being taught
I'll say things
You won't believe
Just stand back
Just let me breathe......"

It's gonna be much better for a girl like me, cuz I want everything I can, but most of all I want that man.
I want that man.
I wanna move like what's his name.
I'll keep the money, you can have the fame.
Everything that's yours will soon be mine.
Yeah, I wanna be the Queen of the USA.
You could send me roses every other day, but what I really want I just can't buy.
Here comes the twenty first century.
It's gonna be much better for a girl like me, cuz I want everything I can, but most of all I want that man.
I want that man.
Hey! I wanna be kissed from head to toe by that man in the very back row but he won't even look me in the eye.
Ah, I want his love to rain right down on me.
I want him to be king of all my dreams, but what I really want I just can't hide.
Here comes the twenty first century.
It's gonna be much better for a girl like me, cuz I want everything I can, but most of all I want that man.
I want that man.

I'm very worried about this movie. I was incredibly psyched for it, but after seeing the previews, Depp looks obnoxious as all get out (and actually looks like Jackie O), and the set designs and the overall look of the movie are putrid. Insanely bright colors and too modern. Not to mention the fact that they removed the geese that lay the golden eggs with ****ing SQUIRRELS THAT OPEN NUTS.

squirrels that open nuts. That's priceless.
The old one was very bright and modern colored, too, if I recall correctly. I know you think they're lame, but Sisk and Rope gave it good review despite Depp. It looked pretty neat to me, in the review, and the child actors looked good. But I'm not a huge fan of the original. However, comparing Gene Wilder to what I saw of Depp, that really might be a huge disappointment. But remember, Tim Burton stuff usually turns out pretty cool. :woohoo: Good luck!!

I'm listening to all the covers of Patti Smith's "Dancing Barefoot" I could find. Which would be U2, Simple Minds, and Concrete Blonde. I think my favorite of the bunch is CB's, just for the neat lyrics they tacked on the end. I'm kind of surprised I like the U2 cover as much as I do, considering I can't stand U2. Hm.
:O :O :O
