I think it is the doing it every night that she is scared of. I think she knows she is 57 (almost) year old woman who has been singing on tour essentially every year or so since like 1973. And - she has had a 30 year history of trouble and apparently gets colds easily and has since the 70's. So, not pushing it appears to be her deal. She did, though, in Vegas push it even in the songs other than B&B - but perhaps that was due to the climate controlled environment and no airtravel, which can cause problems. Food for thought.

But, both the people I mentioned above have just as much (if not more in the case of Robert Plant) singing experience under their belts and they deliver night after night, after night, after night. She does the best she can, and I think she sounds pretty good, but it's just that some of the songs she's doing need that extra punch or they just fall flat. HSML is a perfect example. You need that "My lonely, OOOOOOOOOONE!" or else it's just kind of ridiculous. :sorry:

See that's the thing. We always get the excuse that she doesn't hit the high notes anymore because it might hurt her voice. Well, how fragile is her voice? I mean it's bandied about like her vocal chords are damn faberge eggs! Look at the wailers out there still a-wailin' (Robert Plant, Ann Wilson, etc..) they don't seem to be as concerned about this problem as Stevie. It's more the fact that she can't or won't hit the high notes anymore and I don't know why. She did it on TISL so we know it can be done. She works with a vocal coach too!

I think she's afraid, to be honest. She f*cked up her voice royally through years of abuse and misuse, so I think she's afraid to do much of anything with it. She has no range to speak of because of the damage she caused, so she probably wants to conserve what she has. Problem is that her conservation leads to less than inspired performances.

Whose lightsaber? :D

Well, since no one offered theirs as a substitute for the anti-aircraft gun while I am loping about in my Cher "Turn Back Time" outfit and video - I guess mine - now where is that pump

I think she did it once on the SA tour - but that is based on memory only

Yup.. she lifted the mic off the stand and kneeled down and did the "Edge" scream... it was at Jones Beach... very good scream too :woohoo:

except Vegas - SHEEEBUS!!!!!!!!

I think that had a lot to do with the climate control in the theatre and the no travelling.

But these people have taken care of their voices and many knew how to sing properly from the get go (or learned quickly), Stevie didn't really start until, what, 1997? Her voice changed for every album and every tour!

I can't see her with a vocal coach going "la la la la LA LA la la laaaaaaaaa". That alone helps with gaining more range.

Since 1975 no less.

Exactly. In many cases with performers who have been ongoing since that time, their voices have grown into great, mature instruments that are just as good as they were (Ann Wilson, Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Robert Plant, Etta James, etc.). Why? Because they took care of their pipes. They weren't idiots and didn't think that using cough drops and moisture machines for fifteen minutes would do anything for their voices.

Robert Plant never took care of his voice. He shred the hell out of it and smoked all the time. His voice is but a teeny tiny shell of its former glory- it started its decline in 1979...

Yeah, I suppose that was a bad example. I heard some of his new album and cringed. That's one bad album chock full of bad songs.

Do pardon me, I was under the impression that we were allowed to enter as we wish. I had to take a peek to see what it's all about but actually the chiffon parade has not been restricted to this purple palace, hence the sensation of being cornered everywhere I turn.

Not cornered Lux, joyously accepted. Come often, rent a room here, there's a lot of space still...

I''m thinking Sharon is the vocal coach... She calls her their "Teacher"
