gee I wonder why...cause YOUR candidate won!
see thats the thing...if John Kerry would have won...then you wouldn't see this outlash from conservatives saying "It was rigged...we should have won." we would admitt defeat and say..."ok the loser won...we'll get over it."

You obviously don't know a thing about the neocons, then. That's the most ridiculous and naive statement yet.

Then why shouldn't we all have the same rights if we're all equal?

I’m going to throw in my 2¢. I love my God and enjoy the spiritual relationship I have with my God. I find the PC bible study program I have very fascinating. The bible teaches great values to live by and I believe most of the bible was written having good intentions. The problem with it is, yes man wrote it.
My thoughts on male homosexuals? I’m sorry I don’t understand it. I don’t hate anyone for being a homosexual but damn it men how can you look at another man and find him sexually attractive? I really can not fathom that. As far as a woman finding another woman sexually attractive I can deal with that.  Strange isn’t it?
The main reason I popped in is to say “ After reading a good bit of this thread I need to talk to my God about what some of you have said.” I’m guilty of having been closed minded about gay males. I still don’t understand you men looking at each other’s winkies. Thinking about it will probably always make my skin crawl but I am seeing your views with a new light tonight.
Like I said “I don’t hate you”, but come on guys. The world is full of beautiful women. What the….. Why do you….. How can you….. Ewww. :distress:
Crap I give up.
I don't think it's something that anyone has to understand. No one needs to understand and know exactly why they're attracted to someone, half the time the person who finds them attracted to another doesn't understand it. I find myself attracted to women and men for different reasons. I don't analyze why that is and, quite frankly, I don't even give a **** myself. As long as I'm happy, that's all that matters.

Well I talked to God about a few things last night and I’m not posting the conversation. I will say what I got out of it was “God loves us all the way we are.” Were all sinners and sin is sin. One sin is no worse then the other and my sins are no worse then yours.
I’m sure this is going to sound very stupid to a few of you but it’s my decision. I belong to 2 other message boards. One is a small private board with around 3,000 members. The other has well over 104,000 members. I guess because this board is somewhat small the threads tend to go off in directions I don’t particularly care for. There’s a lot of love here but a lot of picking too. We all have a right to our own opinions but it’s getting old.
I’ll be visiting to catch the band news but I won’t be posting here anymore. It’s been fun but I’m moving on. That’s my decision and mine alone. I wish you all peace and happiness in you’re lives.
I will be adding one more thread to this forum that I found on my private board. It was eye opening and I’ll check back to see your thoughts on it. Take care folks and keep safe. :wavey:

Proud Catholic on this board who has disagreed with pretty much EVERYTHING that BrwnEyes or whatever has said...
what he/she has said, to me, ipitomizes all that is wrong with the Catholic Church and its antiquated views on the world....why do I remain a Catholic?
There are good things about it (social justice issues) and I do like the traditions and I have a personal spiritual relationship with myself and God - in no way should any of my views be imposed on anyone...
eh - there's SO much I want to say - but just can't sit here at type all of it - it's frightening though that such ignorance, hatred and such exist and are carried out in the guise of religion - people like that are missing the whole point...

well, you saw the onslought of arguments against your position last night, I suspect Deanna may argue again, and maybe some other people. So, I meant, after all the people who argued with you, you're brave to post about your position again. To tell the truth, this place is very liberal. Not everyone, but i would say the majority. And many are very passionate about their views. And i would daresay you may find people who agree with you here veeery few and far between. And many post political things often, and talk about them. I could care LESS what any CHURCH says about Gay marriage...I think its significant that in the ENTIRE BIBLE there is NOT ONE mention of GOD forbidding relations between same sex partners. If anyone can point out something that Jesus or God actually said regarding Homosexuality, please let me know. God only had 10 commandments, and Jesus had only ONE.
Churches are run by men. men with an agenda. I dont trust most of them.
and after reading the Da Vinci Code, Im not sure I much admire the Catholic Church either. And before anyone starts denouncing the Da Vinci Code, they had better take a good long look at Dan Brown's Bibliography for that book. Much of his material came from the Vatican Archives! Jealously guarded by the Catholic Church itself! The fox is truly guarding the hen house!

The Vatican charged Galileo, at the time 68 years old, with heresy for teaching the Copernican theory, which contradicted the bible.
With the threat of torture, the Vatican forced Galileo to confess that he had been wrong when he stated the Earth revolved around the Sun.
It wasn't until 1992... 350 years after his death... that the Vatican finally cleared Galileo of wrongdoing.
The moral of the story... the Catholic Church isn't always right.
Something to think about.

I'm not an idiot I realize that...The Pope could come out tomorrow and announce who he thinks will go to the super bowl and win...and he'd probably end up being DEAD WRONG! ONLY on matters of faith (when the Holy Father speaks excathedra) are we required to accept the teachings...wheather the world is round or flat...is not a matter of faith but opinion...and the church was DEAD wrong at that time...but it is the faith of the people that in matters of faith the chruch is guided by the Holy Spirit and correct!

You're missing the point - one cannot use the Bible to legislate.
Theologically, your facts are sketchy, too. The Bible mentions nothing of homosexual marriage and nothing about how we understand homosexuality today. Those Scriptures have been widely regarded to condemn rape and adult/child sex, not homosexuality.

Timothy 2:8-15 — I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Shall we talk further on how the bible states that woman should always be lowly to men? How they should not work outside of the house, nor even so much as teach Sunday School?
How closely do you follow those particular passages of the bible, personally? Does the Biblical ideal of women being submissive to men seem terribly antiquated and sexist to you? Or are you completely comfortable with it, "because it's what the bible says"?

But I don't understand why we get to pick and choose.
If it's stated in the bible, should it not be followed?
How is it decided what's appropriate to follow, and what can be dismissed because of the era in which it was written?
Is it not possible that the views of that time influenced the human males who wrote the bible, to apparently comment as unfavorably about homosexuality as they did in regards to women's roles in society?
How, exactly, is it determined what is a "common foundation of truth," and what's merely an archaic viewpoint made by men whose worlds were very small in scope?
Again, I do not see a single word in the Ten Commandments regarding homosexuality. I would think that God's Commandments should be the ultimate foundations of truth. Everything else stated in the bible by Paul, Matthew, etc., etc., is merely an interpretation or an opinion.

was known for throwing 1200 lbs (!!!!) carts full of laundry off 8' loading docks in a fit of rage, These same 1200 lb. carts that huge muscular men could barely push...Do ya think she would submit to a man? Especially a drunken ex-boyfriend who physically hit her to suffer the following embarrassing (But funny to me) bits of bodily harm??? Nah, not my Mother, She is a nice caring person until ya piss her off (My older brother Geary & myself inherited our Mother sick sense of humor and very short temper & her way with words) then ya will suffer the same fate as _____ (I wont post the a-hole drunken dillweed's name here) did:
#1-______ was shot in the ass with a .22 caliber rifle (My Mother is also a great markmans) after my Mom did target practice on him after he threw a punch at her...(Famous lines from that day: _____ (Drunken a-hole)-"Brian, get that gun away from that crazy woman"...My beloved Mom (To me)-"Move it or lose it"...Me (To drunken ____)-"Ya expect me to pull a gun away from a pissed woman? You're on yer own" )
#2-_____ had his...uh...well...ummm...go-nads squeezed in a pair of pliers that my Mom had in her hands as he tried to punch her in a shopping center parking lot when he was caught with another woman (And for the record, There was NO CHANCE in HELL of me helping that living sack of ****, he was ON HIS OWN that day, Nads in a pair of pliers & his face being beaten to a bloody pulp at the same time by dear ol
' Mom...But I wished I had a video camera then, The look on the Tahlequah PD's faces was classic when they arrived to the parking lot disturbance (The woman that _____ was withh, Well my dear ol' Mum broke that woman's face up) saw the pliers and what they were squeezed upon!!! You guys know that look, it's the look ya make when some other poor schmuck/guy gets nailed in the 'jewels' extremely hard!!!) This is a true story...My family is a slightly insane but somewhat loving bunch!!!

Wow...It's like we have the same Mom...
:xoxo: to Brian.
when i was 3, i remember mine calling the police on my dad who showed up to visit me, but Drunk...late at night...she said..."I don't know this man, he is trying to break in"
don't worry, he came over the next day, sober, all was well....

She is also the only I know who was pulled over by the OHP (Oklahoma Highway Patrol) for going 170MPH in a 55MPH zone and get not even a ticket or a warning cause Mr.Fuzz wanted to know 3 things-

#2 Would she like to drag him in him POS black T-Top 1980 Pontiac Bandit Edition Turbo Trans Am for pink slip while his fellow patrolmen watched and made sure noone was hurt (Let's say he ate crow when his own Patrol group laughed his ass off after Mom ANNIHILATED his ass and he wouldnt part with the precious pink slip for that POS...As dear ol' Mom loves to say "Hey Bud, Put up or shut the f**k up")
Finally #3 What's size bra cup my Mom had cause he loved what he saw! (Dude...Sheesh, It's hella sick when it was said to my Mom!!! Which happened daily in my pre-teen days...My Mom was indeed the like the song "Blonde in the blue T-bird"...Except her Trans Am was bright banana yellow!)

I asked for proof that GOD said there was to be no homosexuality. The short answer is HE DIDNT. The only references you found were written by PEOPLE. God made us all the way we ARE. And if the CHURCH is so GUNG HO against homosexuality, why the hell did it allow GENERATIONS of priests to abuse little boys? Give me a break! All this Bible Thumping is a bunch of CRAP. And trying to foist YOUR particular beliefs on the rest of the country is a form of Religious Tyranny

So, I've read this whole thing (why, I honestly couldn't tell you- morbid curiosity, most likely) and here's my five cents.
1) The Catholic Church is one of the most evil organizations to ever exist on this planet. Anyone who thinks that they can participate in any of its forms, tangents, etc. and NOT be contributing to evil is just plain stupid. One can disagree with that statement all day long and it won't matter- facts are facts.
2) Who the hell cares what the bible says? I don't think there is a need to justify whether or not the bible condones gay marriage. The bible is a piece of ****. Just chuck the whole thing. It has as much relevance in today's life as the stories of the Iliad or the Odyssey.
3) "Brwn_eyes0511" is a troll- and a moronic one at that. Trying to argue with or dissuade someone that is so obviously stupid is a waste of time. Continuing to say "I don't want anyone to get angry" and the rest of it, all the while continuing to post that ignorant drivel that is so obviously targeted to make people angry is just ludicrous.

An electronic mail message, Usenet posting or other (electronic) communication which is intentionally incorrect, but not overtly controversial (compare flame bait), or the act of sending such a message.
Ha - yeah pretty much ditto.
The Catholic Church as it is now is run by men - it is an archaic institution and I do not follow ALL of its teachings. I'm not a papist - I don't think the Vatican or Pope serve any true purpose actually....except politcal games and all sorts of freaky stuff...
I've actually not read the Da Vinci Code yet - but will when it comes out in Paperback :p

Topic: Are homosexuals born that way? A post by a homosexual from a different message board.
I don’t know about being genetic, I think it is a combination of factors (genetic, hormonal, environmental etc). I am gay, and remember being that way a long time ago when I was really young (maybe 5-7). I told my family I was gay at 16 and it hurt my dad but he loves me. I could tell he judged me by the way he sees a lot of other gays acting out their homosexuality. They flit around making sure everyone else knows their gay. They dress the part and it’s annoying to me.
I, too, do not understand why gays act so weird and feminine, as I have never had any inclination towards that behavior. The gay community I live in frowns upon the flamboyant loudmouth gays we refer to as fags. We see them as a danger to the gay community. I act like a normal dude and no one bothers me. I don’t feel I have to run around telling everyone I’m gay and I certainly don’t act like a queer or fag. Just like a heterosexual doesn’t run around making it known their straight. I’m like any guy in every aspect except that I prefer men. On the other hand, I think because I am gay I have more of a feminine mind-set (compassionate, non-ego central etc) and I am appreciative of this.
Overall, it really is a pain in the ass. The prospect of spending my life rejected by most of the world is crushing, yet the social repercussions of coming out to everyone I meet telling them I’m gay or acting gay even on this message board is something I don’t feel I need to do on a daily basis. Its no wonder straight people frown on us and don’t want us around children. If you going to act like a fag in front of everyone you deserve the punishment you attract.

I admit I sometimes cringe when I see the more flamboyant of us, because, yes, I admit that I think it can hurt the progress we're trying to make across America (not just on the more liberal coasts). It frustrates me when I see all homosexuals being lumped into some stereotype, and it frustrates me even more when I see guys who purposely seem to play up that stereotype. (I'm talking about when gay men do something completely for the shock-value, rather than because they genuinely act or feel that way.)
But shouldn't a person be allowed to be themselves?
We're always trying to categorize people, and fit them into our nice, neat little boxes.
Some gay men are flamboyant, but certainly not all of us.
Some straight men are sexist neanderthals, but certainly not all of them.
We should be proud of who WE are, and worry about the kind of person WE are... not worried about the kind of person the guy up the street is, or how his behaviour might make us look.

I can't dismiss the bible out of hand, because I think a lot of good advice (in the form of parables) can be found in its pages.
Just as with guns, alcohol, the internet, etc., it's the people who use these things, who have the power to abuse and corrupt them.
And the same goes for the bible... it's "just a book," for all intents and purposes. How one uses it is where the problem often arises.

It might have some good advice, but I decided, especially after I began practicing Buddhism, that it's too much trouble to squeeze out whatever redeeming qualities it might have. :)
I understand that a lot of people (gay folks, even) have cultural ties to the bible/Christianity, but I honestly don't feel any...so I more or less try to just leave it alone.

I posted his opinion because I agree with the views he has on the way some gays act. They go overboard with feeling the need to make sure everyone knows they’re gay.

The reason I started this thread is because this board does have a pecking order. Look at the hot topic threads here. Click on the post count number to the right. It shows you who posted and how many times. Look at the thread and its content. You’ll see the pecking order. It will also show you a few threads that have been hijacked with useless gay banter that’s useless.
That’s what I get tired of seeing. The members jumping around thread after thread talking the gay crap I don’t care to see. JMO Let me have my opinion.

I saw your post as blaming a gay person for a straight person's mistreatment of them. That was how I interpreted it. I suppose the language I used to describe what I saw may seem extreme.
It is so random not to hear from you for a while on this board and then see a post that you pasted from another board. Did you get the poster's permission to do that?
Everyone is well aware of your opinion at this point. What is your problem, are you trying to be at the top of the pecking order?
How is what he said “awful and hateful”. He gave an opinion from his gay point of view. If you’re talking about the avatar? Heck it’s an avatar? I think it’s funny. I’ve already had to remove 2 avatars because certain people here are to sensitive. If they can’t handle a little avatar they have a rough life ahead of them.
(That's like saying a woman who dresses like a skanky whore deserves to be raped.)
I don’t know where you saw something like that said in his opinion. You might have read it wrong?
I posted his opinion because I agree with the views he has on the way some gays act. They go overboard with feeling the need to make sure everyone knows they’re gay.
I’m certainly aware I’ve flirted on this board and had my straight moments of fun but it got real old after a fricking month of it. Not only was I getting tired of it but I’m sure other viewers were getting tired of it too so I stopped. Then I get PM’s asking if I’ve had a lovers quarrel with this and that member. I guess this is also directed at me. Yet again, you can block me. I have started few (I can think of 3) threads that have had homosexual content to begin with. However, I do join in the conversations when they arise. I have no problem talking about "straight" issues......but I guess that is easier for me because I am gay.

I'm just as guilty as anyone (often times moreso), for "hijacking" threads with "gay banter," and my knee-jerk reaction would be to apologize. But why should I be sorry for not being straight?
We're expected to not be put-off by the discussions of husbands, wives, children, etc., that straight people post. We're also expected to not be offended or put off by straight people flirting with each other or discussing their dating and sex lives.
But we should worry if someone may be offended by OUR discussions?
I think EVERYONE should try to be mindful and respectful of other people's sensibilities and differing opinions, and things certainly get a little out of control here sometimes... but when I look around, sexually-themed banter and behaviour is certainly not exclusive to the gays on this board. And it's not exclusive to gays in "real time" either.
The man and woman standing in front of me in the line at Subway last week, sure didn't seem concerned with whether or not they were offending me, as they French-kissed, pecked each other's cheeks, rubbed each other's backs, held each other's hands, and as she frequently squeezed his right buttock.
Apparently they just assumed that I, and everyone behind me, would be fine with it because they were a straight couple, and therefore couldn't possibly be offending anyone.
I can imagine the fuss if they had been two males though.
I can understand if you find some of the more graphic discussions to be unpleasant (truth be known, some of the topics of conversation have been off-putting to me too), but to single out those of us who engage in "gay banter," rather than expressing a displeasure with sexually-themed banter of ANY kind, implies a double-standard.

I posted his opinion because I agree with the views he has on the way some gays act. They go overboard with feeling the need to make sure everyone knows they’re gay.
People (including myself) are proud to be gay. There's nothing wrong with it. Society for the last century or two has severely forced gays to deny who they are, live their life as a lie or hide somewhere in shame. I wonder if you can possibly know what it might feel like to have to live in fear for your life just because of who you are. It's not a nice thing.
So, now in this day and age when the world is slowly opening up its eyes and gaining a little wisdom, why not let the fags celebrate who they are instead of having to repress and restrain for a change.
It will also show you a few threads that have been hijacked with useless gay banter that’s useless.

Then don't f*cking read the ****. The whole fricking world is overloaded with straight imagery. As a straight male, you have the world at your feet. Yeah, I get tired of almost every single facet of society being tinged with heterosexuality, so I ignore it. I'm sure you can ignore the things you don't like as well.

I like quite a few of you. I really admire the way Stew handles his posting. Sure you all like to have your fun in certain threads and I want to know you’re having fun. However I don’t have to read it and when the gay banter spills over into threads where it really shouldn’t it can get old. I’m thinking about the new members and some of the underage people that view these threads too. We should also keep in mind new members coming to this board that are potential supporters of this site.
I’m surprised it isn’t moderated a little better. I’ve expected to get warnings for some of the things I posted but never did. We can all have our fun but I’m surprised a few members never seem to get tired of it. Nothing better to do then chase each other on the board. Day after day all day long. It gets old. I’m sure a few agree but haven’t stepped in to state it because of the pecking they know they’ll receive.

I find it puzzling and disingenuous for someone to complain about the tone they helped to create. I don't dislike ½ ¡Ñ§ÅñË ® at all, but I also don't understand the beef he has with the very behavior he took part in. Maybe it's the gay banter that did it, I don't know. Surely those kind of comments are just as unwelcome in threads as the gay banter is.
