That picture priest posted is too cute for words. The fact that the neighbor's dog is in the photo is adorable because it is kind of like...best of buds! Hee!

I miss my dog. :(

Monty is too cute, but they are all precious. I want a puppy.

Thanks everybody for all the kind words about my kids. :-)

Here's my Olana amidst the fall foliage. Seconds later she got her leash caught up in the solar light and it came crashing to the pavement and broke!

that's interesting cause beagles are usually really smart, tho they do get set in their ways, so if he had his mind made up before you started trying that might have been the problem

This animal was a few cards short of a full deck. That and he was very food aggressive. He bit my dad a couple of times over food. They had to keep there trash can covered at all times. He actually jumped up on the kitchen counter and ate a whole cake in as long as it took my mom to answer the phone. He chewed up 3 cell phones, 2 remote controls and a playstation (among many many other things). They are lucky they found someone to take him. I think he needs doggy bootcamp.

Is the litter box fresh? I know my kitty always wants to go in there immediately, whenever I clean it. To get his scent back on it, I suppose. Mufy's weiner and bladder are probably still sore, and he feels like he has to pee all the time...keep an eye on him. If he starts squatting and moaning, he may still have some blockage. Did your vet give you any antibiotics?

He is doing so much better now. He has been able to go and is now drinking and eating again. Also the blood in his urine seems to have stopped. He also groomed himself so he is beginning to look and smell like my Mufy again. He smelled like a zoo! His fur was all matted too and he usually looks perfect. I wiped him with Cottonelle wipes and brushed him but his own grooming works the best, of course. He is not on antibiotics but is on pain and anti-inflammatory meds. Thanks again for your concern and tips, you've been so helpful!

The litterbox was clean so I could tell when he went. The poor baby's urine was pink. He also loves to "Christen" is litterbox whenever I clean it!

Omigod  Mufy sometimes eats stuff from the trash. He loves soybean pods. I know - odd. He will also take toys out of there if we throw them away. He killed his mouse last week by pulling out all the stuffing. My roommate threw out the flaccid mouse but Mufy took it back! Last year he ate some eggshells and got food poisoning.

At least I think that's how he got it. That was his last stint in the hospital. So he has a $1300 tummy and an $800 penis!

 Wow! All that from eating eggshells?!? I'm glad he recovered.
That is kinda strange that he likes soybean pods. The only human food my cat really likes is macaroni and cheese and taco bell beef. (discusting). Olivia likes to slip him whatever falls out of her taco when she eats taco bell.

Aww. Cats are pretty independent, but if you're really not around then you can get 2 and they'll keep each other company!

Mufasa is back to normal now and he is so sweet. He's my shadow lately which is like him saying, "Momma, I know you helped me get better, thank you thank you for taking good care of me (purrrrr)." He's the best!

I have to take one of my chickencats (that's my loving nickname for them- don't ask me to explain:rolleyes: ) to the vet tomorrow. Punky hasn't been eating for about 5 days now, just drinking water. She's usually a total pig, so there's definitely something up. She didn't even want her favorite - tuna. :distress:
I hate having to take her to the vet though because last time I did that I had to put my kittie Rebel to sleep. :(

Well, took Punky in to the vet tonight. She has liver problems. :( They recommended either a feeding tube, or to try syringe-feeding as not eating is her biggest problem. Getting her to eat again is the #1 priority, although it doesn't solve her liver issues. So I opted for the syringe-feeding with special food along with an appetite-increasing pill I have to give her. Surprisingly, she took the syringe better than I imagined. (although I did have to wrap her in a towel papoose-style to avoid me getting accidentally scratched)
So, if you all would just say a prayer for her that she keeps taking the syringe and that the liver problem adjusts itself somehow, that would be great. I refuse to put her through surgery only to have the diagnosis be liver cancer only to have to then put her through chemo. No way I'd do that to Punky. :distress:
Thank you ALL for your thoughts and concern. :xoxo:

Sorry to hear about Punky, Jamie! I hope she gets her appetite back and that something can be done about her liver. Did you post a picture of her?

We just brought Angel to the vet yesterday, too. She was running around the house playing with one of her tennis balls when she went to pounce on it and suddenly started whimpering. She hasn't used her right back leg since. The x-rays didn't show anything broken or out of place, so it might just be a sprain. They gave us some pills (which she thinks are candy, luckily) and if she's not better in 10 days, we'll have to bring her back as it's probably a torn ligament and will require a pretty major surgery :(. I'm hoping that's not the case, but she's still not putting any weight on it. Other than that she's her normal happy self, though. Except when I go upstairs. (Little brat actually made me sleep on the couch last night . Usually when we turn lights off, that's her cue to race upstairs and jump on my bed. This time I went up and she couldn't handle the steps, so she stood on the landing and barked. And barked. And barked. Until I came back down with all my blankets.)

Here's my cat Missy:

I'm so sorry. Are they SURE it's liver cancer? If they are sure about it being liver cancer, I agree on not doing anything. I've been fighting cancer in my dog for the past 11 months. I DO sometimes wonder if I made the right decision, in fighting it. It's emotionally exhausting, and quite expensive. I'm living right on the edge, financially, now.:(

After a partial mandibulectomy (jaw removal, for melanoma in the jaw) a month ago, he wouldn't drink any water, for a couple days at a time. I had great luck with an eye dropper, he'd drink it when it was forced on him. He's at about 80% now(acting like his old self).

I introduced the old bachelor to his new lady love yesterday afternoon. At first I thought it wasn't going to go very well. He simply didn't seem to care that there was a girl in his territory. He actually walked on top of her and stepped on her head on his way to the water! They spent the whole time sitting in seperate ponds on opposite sides of the tank.

But then nighttime came and Ernie started croaking (more of a chirp, actually) and Esmerelda came right over to him. Without missing a beat he jumped on top of her and wrapped his front legs around her waist. At first I was concerned because she kept kicking at him with her front legs and he's so big that she was having a lot of trouble staying afloat, so I reached in and chased him off.

He didn't get more than a couple of inches away from her before he started croaking and, wouldn't you know it, she hopped right over to him again! So I just let him do his thing and for a good part of the night they were going at it.

What a little hussy!

At first I was concerned because she kept kicking at him with her front legs and he's so big that she was having a lot of trouble staying afloat, so I reached in and chased him off.

much maligned monikered feline "Run-Nugget" to the vet tomorrow to be neutered...

Poor "Run-Nugget", he will soon be Nugget-less like his ol' man "Jr."

Oh, I saw that Oklahoma Tag Commission now has car tags for helping to control the pet population (Much better than the "Pro-life" tags I also saw) about $20 for each tag goes to help low income families spay/neuter their pets...Cool looking car tags.

I don't want to bring anyone down at this time of year, but I thought I should let you guys know that we had to help our sick kitty, Punky, go to heaven last night. Some of you here were praying for her, and all of your thoughts and prayers were all appreciated. I guess it was just God's time for her.

She went very peacefully, in my arms. I told her to go and be with Rebel (our other kitty that passed on a year ago) and Zachary (my family's beloved sheltie dog that we lost a few years ago).

After I got back into the car in the pet hospital's parking lot, I looked up and saw a sheltie dog, on the TV inside the hospital waiting room, right as I was telling my girlfriend that I told Punky to be with Zachary and Rebel. It was like a sign that Zachary was there, seeing that sheltie on the TV, right at that exact moment. I guess everything does happen for a reason.

Thank you all again for your kind words and thoughts. I know I did the right thing for Punky, as she was deteriorating rapidly when I came home from work last night. I'm just really going to miss her...

Jamie I'm also so sorry you had to let Punky go. I'm glad you were there for her and you found some comfort in her being with your other pets when she goes.

My Mufasa is having a bit of trouble peeing again, he is going drop by drop with a bit of blood, just a bit, so I am hopeful he won't have to go to the hospital again. I don't want to have to put him through that again so I want him to pass the crystals naturally this time. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I will also pray for Mufasa.

Thank you all for your condolences. I'm down to 2 kitties now, and this particular 2 never cared for each other much. But since Punky's been gone they have yet to have a fight. I definitely think they know Punky is now in another place. Maybe they've decided that now that Punky's not around to referee as she always did, to "just get along". Whatever the reason, I'm grateful.

On another note, my Mom told me as a child that animals talk to each other on Xmas Eve night. Whether true or not, it's a cute story. Have any of you heard that before?

Ah, Jamie, I'm so sorry. My sister-in-law had to do the same thing for her 16 year old cat on Thursday night. :( My poor niece is devastated - she's never known life without that cat!

On a humorous (well, I hope it stays humorous...) note, I came home from work yesterday & found a few things misplaced from under the tree. Actually, they were across the room & torn to shreds. Bubba. We've never had any problems with him doing this until recently, but it's obvious that I can't take any chances anymore with him out of his crate while we're out

So, I'm picking up the torn-up gift bag & I can't locate what was inside of it - a pair of Isotoner suede ladies driving gloves.   I have looked everywhere, high & lo, in & out, up & down. I fear they ended up in his belly. :( The main reason I think this is they are GONE! I've looked litereally everywhere. The only reason I think they may not be inside of my bad boy is that there was literally NO evidence of these gloves being chewed/eaten/ripped up/ etc. There's just...nothing. No thread. No fuzz. No tiny black pieces of them. Nothing. Weird. Also, He's acting completely normal, not the slightest bit uncomfortable, eating & drinking & peeing & pooping fine & his belly's soft.

I'm so worried, Boxers are known for GI problems. Of course, they're also known for eating all kinds of stuff & passing it without a problem. Vet said not to worry, just watch him. I guess it's all I can do. Good thing we got my SIL a gift in addition to those gloves (which I would be way more upset about losing if I hadn't gotten them for only $4.50  ) I just hope that we don't end up at the doggy ER this weekend. :(

Well, he's OK - sort of. He's throwing up here & there, but still has a good appetite & is pooping. :) Acting totally normal. I took him to the vet yesterday & an xray showed that there is "somehing" in his stomach, but they can't really tell if it's the gloves or just undigested food. No intestinal obstruction, so that's great news.

The concern is that if it is just food - why is it sitting in his stomach for hours? The other day he puked up undigested food 6 hours after eating it. BUT if it is gloves - why haven't they been puked up too? Right now we're just watching him, he goes back in Thursday for another eval/xray.

Paula, I hope your dog is okay! It definitely sounds like he ate the gloves. Animals can be so bratty. Has he been spending more time alone lately? Sometimes they act up when this happens. "So you think you can just leave me, Mom? I'll show you!" They're such punks.

I actually got her right before I got really into Stevie and had no idea at the time she had Yorkies. If I had been into Stevie then I definitely would have named my dog Stevie. I tried changing her name after 6 months but it didnt' work, she wouldn't respond. Just looked at me like I was crazy. "Stevie, Stevie, your new name is Stevie!"

Thanks. I went home on lunch & he seems fine - no more puke for now. Nothing changed recently to make him do this, so I really don't get it. Usually he'll just eat paper (magazines, envelopes, etc.) if he can get to it & he's mad we left him, but nothing like this before. He didn't act weird last year at Christmas, so I can't really blame the tree either.

The gloves. Still attached by the string thingy. Still whole. Crumpled up & covered in dog puke.

So anyway, the cat I rescued last year (oynge) has been losing her fur and losing weight. I just noticed a week or so ago. He's 8 &1/2. And yeah, he's a mutt. I've heard speculation from Border Collie, to Rat Terrier, to Whippet, to Jack Russell. When he was a little younger, he was the fastest dog I'd ever seen. And not that it's saying much, but he's smarter than I am.:o

I've decided that I'm going to go through U of Wisc's experimental Melanoma Vaccine program. They told me yesterday that they will let me make payments on the mandatory 2K "donation". $500 down, and only $250 a month after that. I just bought her today. Her name is Jade and she's an Oriental Firebelly Toad. She's little and very skinny, but she's got a strong appetite and she's a skilled little huntress. She ate four crickets in the first two minutes of being in her quarantine tank. She's got two months to fatten up and prove that she's healthy before I move her in with my other two, Ernie and Esmerelda.

You know, with my toads and my rat and my cats, I'd probably have been burned as a witch by now if I lived way back when...

Suze inspired me w/ her video of Mufasa....

So without futher ado - Clancy Moo makes her You Tube debut:

This is pretty close to when I first got her - she's not been as vocal since - and now she mostly just grumbles at me.

This isn't totally indicative of his real talent, but hints at it. He was on fire today, leapt about 4 feet after a "ball" I threw him. He has that wide receiver thing, too, where he follows the "ball" while running and catches it "over his shoulder". He really is quite the athlete, even for a cat. Some team should snatch him. First round draft pick, Spanky!!! Huzzaaahhh!!! *crowd goes wild at amazing catches/goalie stops*

The bad thing is that I can't seem to simultaneously take a good video while also
giving him a good throw. He's best at catching the fast high ones. You know, leaping line drives for a shortstop? He's still hella cute and committed here. It's weird I got an athlete cat who is good in the exact same way as me. I've never had a cat like this, and I've had a lot of cats. I have two others right now, but neither could do this. Great, I found my soul mate, and it's a cat.  He is my sexy man, I just know if he was human he'd play catch with me all the time, and go hiking....he's like the perfect bf, but he's a cat.
Yes, I love my cat, so what?!  He's veeeery special, even compared to all the cats I've had. This cat can catch a ball like I haven't seen since I was 10, catching a ball! And again, can I just thank "god" he catches bugs? I hate bugs. Plus it saves me money on his food. He catches rats and mice and god knows what else, too. I love all cats, but this is the cat you've always hoped for. At least I've always hoped for. He's like my twin, but in cat form, but who eats bugs instead of being scared of them. I like to sing: "Talkin' 'bout the kii-teee - of my dreams!"
Okay, I'll stop.

I think he is the same kind of cat as Suze's. Except Suze's looks bigger, like maybe a Maincoon, whereas mine is more petite, like a Norwegian Forest Cat. I had a Maincoon before, though, and he was very special as well - like a dogcat. Easily trained, always wanted to be on the lap....But Huge! I mean, big. Big boned, big head...Is your cat big, Suze?

F**K!! These YouTube people are hard to please  I just got a bunch of comments on how boring my video is....I didn't really think anyone but Ledgies and my mom would watch it

Anyway - Clancy is estimated to be about 10. I got her at the shelter, they told me she was 9, but the vet seems to think she may have gone prematurely gray due to stress (she was abandoned by her long-time owner) and I think she may have been abused.

She's in excellent health and has no "old-dog" ailments as of yet....so I don't know. She's got the little white face, so she looks a little older :o

poor clancy! what a doll. it's unimaginable what some people do to animals. our old cat alfy was thrown out of a moving car in a garbage bag with another cat. we think they tried to drown him before doing so because for the 6 years we had him, he would never drink water unless he felt how deep it was with his paw first. poor thing. we lost him too young. :distress:

Your dogs are cute. The blind one is one of my favorite types. Some kind of...herd dog. Tell me, is blind dog really smart? That is so cool you have three dogs! That would basically fill my entire appt.

Yes, my cat catches way better than anyone. i didn't go into that whole thing about professional teams scouting him for nothing. Just wait until someday when I get a really good video. Which he does a lot, but I can't throw and video at the same time, like I said.

geez, poor clancy!! that's the hard part about adopting an adult dog ... you really don't know what happened to them before you got them. yeah, if i throw a ball for sadie, she just stares at me. well, obviously she does now, since she can't see the ball. but she did it before she went blind, too.

we think blind dog (sadie) is some kind of herding dog because of how she follows at our heels. but we really have no idea what she is. she IS really smart, actually. she knows tons of words and used to do cool stuff before she got really old. oh, and three dogs basically fills our whole house. they are ridiculous. but great.

Cwancy

did you say "Cwancy"???

That is like my Vinnister (Vinnie who is Sinnister)

and my Spankitudinal (Spanky with a tude)

And my adopted Orange cat who is "Oynge". "who's my little oygne? Who's my girl? Oygey-girl! "

  Animals are the best thing ever invented. Clancy is soooo funny! "Rough! Rough!!!" I actually picked my good cat because he was this little tiny, tiny, runty kitten, but he totally growled at the toy they were playing with with him. Like "GRRRR!" He's like 4 inches long, and skinny, and he's hella growling at this toy!
The shelter people were all "He's kinda a runt, all his bros and sis's have been adopted!" But besides the tiny growl, I knew I found my boy because he was all lovey and snuggly on the BART ride home. Most cats would just yowl, he seemed right at home.

He just wanted me to hold him by my neck. He slept right on my neck his whole kittenhood. I had to be there for him when he first went outside - he was nervous, and looking for me. He still does those things, he's very bondy. Put simply, he's my DogCat boy. He loves me, and I love him.
He jumps into my arms, too. Jumps right up, and I catch him. :)

Someone commented on my Clancy video that my dog is ugly and disgusting and that I should get a life.

Great.

YouTube people are assholes...this I did not know! So I've now disabled allowing anyone to comment. I just posted them for fun, so it sort of annoys me that people are that gungho to be jerks to someone that they have to **** on other peoples' videos....good God...I just wanted y'all to see my Mooinabox.

Well I have to confess I've made fun of small yappy dogs in my day - but never in earshot of the owner - I mean you just DON'T insult someones pet!!! That's like going up to someone and saying, "Damn! Your kid is ugly....how the hell do you keep it around!?!" Ya don't do it.

Anyway - that said, I have a real soft spot for dogs with problems, ie blindness, missing limbs etc...and basically dogs are just the sweetest little creatures...I love 'em.

I don't think Cy can see anything. But that's okay, like all rats, he just follows his nose anyway. I think he's doubled his weight since I got him, and he was a big boy to start with.

But yeah, nobody will ever accuse me of not feeding any of my pets. They're all at least a little chubby. Just like their mama.

Too Cute. Mufasa is about 11 pounds 8 oz. He's not that big but is on the big side. He is pretty dog-like, he'll follow you around the house and stuff like that. He's not really a lap kitty though, although now that it is pretty cold he has been. Maybe he is getting more snuggly as he grows up. He's a sweet cat with a ton of personality and spunk.

(other than being evil-he's also weird. )

He's not been doing very well, the past couple of weeks. He had a small lump on his neck, which grew DRAMATICALLY over a couple of weeks. It turned out to be just some huge abscess. It was removed last Tuesday. So now, he's got 25 staples on his neck/shoulder. He's felt so bad(the vet says mainly because of infection from the abscess) that he's lost SIX lbs. He's had NO appetite at all. Last night, I went to Wallyhell, and got him some Ensure Plus. 355 calories in each can. I managed to syringe one entire can down him. He's acted like he feels a little bit better today(not much, but still better).

So, after 6 weeks of trying to find out about this experimental Melanoma Vaccine program, through the U of Wisc, Cash officially becomes a guinea pig tomorrow. Now, there are really no adverse side effects from this vaccine(it's basically dead melanoma DNA cells), BUT, there is no research as to whether to discontinue his chemo treatments or not. My vet wants to do chemo. The head researcher at U of WI has no research to support either option. So, he was supposed to DO chemo this afternoon......his oncologist from U of IL calls, and says that she doesn't want us to do the chemo, along with the vaccine.

My biggest regret/doubt about this is:
WHY didn't someone turn us onto this Melanoma study, TWENTY months ago??????(and my fear is that it may be too late now, to be effective). And secondly, the question of discontinuing the chemo. It has DEFINITELY helped, and stopping it might be a BIG mistake. I guess I'll just let the doctors duke it out, and go with their conclusion.
Sorry so long, but HEY, you asked.

Thanks for all the above. It just makes me mad that NO ONE at U of IL told me about this program, until now. Were they not, because it wasn't part of THEIR program? Who knows? I guess I never will know that.

You know, I've caught SEVERAL mistakes, on the parts of ALL parties involved, since this began. IMO, when it's something serious(and of course I mean with us humans, too), never accept just one opinion, ESPECIALLY if it's some negative prognosis. Get second opinions. Ask questions. If the doctor can't handle his judgement being questioned, he's not a very good doctor.
My vet knows I love her, but I've stepped on her toes a couple of times(which made for a better treatment program for Cash). She got a little hot, but got over it(especially since it turned out that I was right!;) ).

Sorry Michelle, I missed this part. It's not a surgery. It's just an injection, of dead Melanoma DNA(at least that's my pea-brain understanding). The only side effect is some swelling at the injection site. Here's a link to a story on the program.

When he was little Mufasa would eat anything. Ham was his favorite and he would growl over it, too cute. He's into ice cream these days. I know cats are lactose intolerant so I only give him a smidge. He loves chicken and turkey. Cats don't have taste buds for sugar though so I don't think he'd be into Frosted Flakes

On edit: Your pets are adorable. Bubba is so handsome and of course One-Eyed Willie found his way into the rafters! Mufy has one of those scratchers like Mrs Bouviea (sp). He's hysterical when he plays with it. He also has an alpine scratcher which he loves. It's an inclined cardboard scratcher. It has a hole in the side of it that used to have a mouse in it. You should have seen him jump when he first noticed it! It lasted about a minute before he tore it out of there. Oh yes, he is an endless source of amusement!

That is awesome. I can't blame him cuz pizza is like crack to me! I just remembered Mufasa likes coffee! One day I got a bit of grounds on the counter and he licked them up! He has always "helped" me make coffee, he's so nosey, but the smell would turn him off. I guess it's an acquired taste for kitties too because I remember feeling the same way as a kid! So now I give him a tiny bit of grounds when I make coffee. Okay, I'm the crazy cat lady. Dammit.

Anansi was 18 this year. My best friend/housemate brought the little black kitten home for me, and he got his name (after an African folktale trickster character) because of the spider-like way he would scramble up my leg, in order to get next to my face. He slept in the crook of my neck.

This cat let us know how much he wanted to be an outdoor cat right away, and he was very singleminded in this desire. I lived in places where he could not go out, but he never stopped howling at the door, and escaping.

One Summer, when a boyfriend and I went to Europe, with no clear return date, I asked my mother to care for my two cats. When I returned, she announced that Anansi was hers. We disagreed about this, but she did have a nice little backyard, and I was about to return to SF, where I didn't even have a patio.

I always regretted leaving him a little, but she spoiled him with cooked fish, and he loved her house. She always referred to him as "mine", especially when he cost $ or caused trouble, even though he lived in Southern California 3/4 of his life.

He got pretty sick this year, and my mother was about to embark on the downward spiral of expensive vet interventions that she had with our last two cats (one who had lived to be 21, and the other 18) who also had kidney problems. We had just talked on the phone about what to do, and she told me that Anansi was sitting outside the door, listless, and quiet, and wouldn't come inside. This was a week ago. I asked my mom if she could get him inside, or get the phone out there, I wanted to talk to him, but she couldn't. She got him in a little later, and then let him go out in the middle of the night (a habit of his—he never went far)and then he never came back.

This was a week ago, and we have to assume at this point that he has died. It bothers us that we don't know, and that none of the neighbors have found him. I think that perhaps this was the best way for him, but morbid creature that I am, I keep thinking about his last moments, and hoping that he wasn't cold, and that he wasn't trapped, but was happy to be outside.
Goodbye little black cat. We loved you very much!

lord, what a story! beautiful. and a beautiful cat. I had the same feeling about a dog I lost once. I won't go into the story, but I wondered if she was ok and where she was and if she was in any pain. sometimes, not knowing is worse than knowing. I'm sure Anansi knew he was loved and lived very well.

Omigoodness, where did that sad puppy come from? So cute, as is your other big-eared puppy!

Thanks for the nice words and thoughts, Deborah, Niki, Deanna, Jaz, I have barely told anyone in the "real world" except those who knew him, but I guessed you all would understand.

This has been a tough year for Ledgie pets, it seems.

Now my girl Isabel kitty is 16 (she's in the middle picture with Anansi) and she is finally showing her age. It feels like my whole life could be divided into chapters for each cat I have lived with, all the way back to the beginning.

Yes, it has been a bad year for Ledgie pets. :(

Eliza, when my kitty died, I was telling someone that he never let me know he was in pain. He never whimpered or meowed or anything. It wasn't until he kept vomiting that I was even aware there was anything wrong with him. My friend told me, "That was his gift to you." I also believe Anansi was trying to do you a favor. He was a beautiful kitty! He looks just like the neighborhood kitty who comes to visit me.

They're actually very low maintenance. I keep my bettas in 1-2 gallon tanks (one per tank of course, since their other name is Siamese Fighting Fish), drop a few pieces of food every other day or so (they don't really need to eat every day) and change their water every couple of weeks.

The toads get their tank cleaned once a week and I drop about a half dozen small crickets in there every night before I go to bed.

And since they don't really give a crap about me as long as they have food, I don't feel any guilt about the fact that they're home alone for 12-14 hours a day 4 days out of the week.

Thanks all, and I *do* think that Anansi had a very good life, and that his end was a gift to my mother, because she was overwhelmed at the prospect of a protracted illness and I was worried that she would let the doctors keep him alive to the point where he was miserable—at least that is what happened with the other two elderly cats we had. Also, I know he loved his yard and the outside territory possible more than he loved us, so that would be where he would want to spend his last moments, not at the vets.

Did your toads pass or did you give them away? I've had my male, Ernie (the one on the left), for about 5 years now and I can't seem to find an accurate life expectancy for them. Some say 5, some say 25. I love them, but I don't know that I want to still be dealing with crickets when I'm pushing 50.

Well, I think I had the newts the longest (they were so easy to keep) and I think the oldest one was 3 or 4. I had two toads, and the think the older was also 3. I tried to keep frogs, and found that they were too delicate, and I was not skilled enough to keep the environment just right.
I went to Europe, without a clear return date, and had already asked my mother to care for two of my cats, so I brought them to a store that had a nice collection of amphibians and reptiles. It made me very sad, as I had grown quite attached to them. I liked the way they would track my movements in the room, though I really didn't like feeding them the crickets.

Cyclops. But I call him Cy-Cy.

"Ick" is a very common fish disease (actually it's a parasite), that usually attacks fish who are under stress and therefore have weakened immune systems. There are several medications available to treat it from the pet store but the safest and least expensive way to cure and prevent it is to keep the watery salty (with marine salt or NON-iodized table salt). I usually put about a teaspoon of salt per gallon of water. It helps to prevent other parasite infestations as well and doesn't harm the fish.

yes, Siamese mix. In the Cat Fancy magazines there is an actual breed called showshoe that she is the poster child for. she has the white toes and tummy but otherwise a lilac point siamese in every other respect. She is VERY smart and VERY territorial. she bullies my other kittie, Razzmatazz (Razzle Dazzle!)

Yeah, one of our office cats is a bully (we have five office cats and three office dogs at my work). She picks on the other cats mercilessly and even picks on the staff and clients.

I get great pleasure out of bullying her right back. I don't hurt her, of course, but I'll tug on her tail when she's trying to sleep or play with the hairs inside her ears to make them twitch. But she totally deserves it. She attacks people completely unprovoked and has made it her personal mission to beat the snot out of the other cats.
