EXACTLY, and that's what I meant Sodapop. The Chiffonese have banded together........(shining light in your eyes)aren't you a member of the Chiffonese party? :distress:
I love both Stevie AND Lindsey (and even Chris lol). That's why I'm in charge of this game and you're not, Homer. And I am conducting this game in a completely straightforward, above-board manner. Things aren't going the way you want them to? Well, boo-hoo. It's not my fault.
Johnny Stew

And every time Sara was given immunity, someone was attempting to give SMAP immunity. It's all the same.
Thank you for pointing that out!

Well, of course it would be gone if it didn't have immunity.
But that has nothing to do with whether or not it's a great song, and everything to do with the fact that there's a faction of people working to ensure that the best song on the album (in my, and many other people's opinions) doesn't make it far enough to go directly against "SMAP," or whichever other Lindsey song makes it to the final two.
Me thinks some people are just too afraid of the competition. ;)
Obviously you're not afraid...
So you wouldn't be adverse to an immunity-free round then... ;)

I stated quite clearly last time around, that I'd much rather there be no immunity at all. Each song having to duke it out with all of the others.
But I was outvoted.

I don't remember anything in the rules REQUIRING immunity in every round... ;)
Ah, but let me ask this... if it were "Save Me A Place," or another Lindsey song, receiving immunity every round, would it then be a different story? ;)
And how loudly would the Lindsey Alliance protest, if had been "SMAP" winning immunity these past few rounds, and the "Chiffon Heads" were the ones clamoring for a round without immunity? ;) ;)
I bet the "Chiffon Heads" would get called "spoiled-brat princesses" again. ;)
So basically, we can't have it both ways... we can't want immunity only when it's our song winning it, and we can't claim that the members of the "other side" are "spoiled-brats" for complaining, if we turn around and engage in the same behaviour when the tides are turned in their favor. :D

Now, now, now...if SMAP had immunity all these times, of course I wouldn't be lobbying for holding off immunity for a round. Nor would I voice opposition if others DID want to lobby for it.
I'm only asking... :) I'm, not posting huge red letters or anything. It's only directed at you because you mentioned the whole "competition" thing.
But forget it. Never mind. No big deal. Didn't mean to get your chiffon in a swirl by even mentioning the idea of suspending immunity for a round. ;)

And Johnny, for the record, I voted against immunity, also. It just f&*ks things up, BECAUSE, it's all based on who can sit here at 8pm, with a fast connection!, and answer the trivia question 10 seconds faster than the next guy. And THAT's not a democratic vote, in the slightest. It's most certainly not fair the the folks on dialup. The people who "have a life" -and login at their own leisure-'s votes don't count, because the SAME TWO FREAKIN' SONGS ARE ALWAYS GIVEN IMMUNITY!
Immunity SUCKS.

Like I said, I'm not beholden to immunity. I'd rather see the game played without it. Though I do disagree with changing or amending a rule right in the middle of the game.
If Sodascouts and Rezamatic had decided right at the beginning that they'd have designated rounds without immunity, I'd be fine with that.
But to say "'Sara' has had immunity too many times, so we need to have a round without it," just seems odd to me. I mean, even you admitted that you wouldn't feel the same if it were "SMAP" winning immunity each time. :)
And for the record... the only things that get my "chiffon in a twirl," are prejudice, hatred, insensitivity, child abuse, and acts of aggression or violence. Oh, yeah, and the mere sight of Pat Robertson. ;)
Anything else is just a mild annoyance. :)

But I KNOW there have to be Lindsey fans out there, who have another song of his in mind for the Final Round.
Or perhaps Christine fans who want one of her songs to make it?
I have two in my mind for the final round (and no, they're not both Stevie songs :p ), but I'm open for an alliance, folks. :)

Just to clarify a few things, I have received no PMs or anything encouraging me to give immunity to one song over another song. Sara and I Know I'm Not Wrong are my two favorite tusk songs. Seeing as how IKINW is not being threatened, Sara is the song I choose to give immunity to. The only real conspiracy here is a few groups of people, having fun, and conspiring to save their favorite songs (no matter how misguided some of these people might be).
As for dial-up vs. High speed, Checking this out you'll see two others who came in tonight at basically the same time so it comes down to who typed it quickest or who remembered it quickest or who saw the post quickest. Any of those factors are what affected tonights, closest, immunity challenge. I will say this, if I win immunity next round I will not pick Sara to help avoid any potential sour grapes.

It was funny that 4 posts all logged at 8:00 exactly. "I" drew a quick blank, RAN to the next room for the vinyl, halfway there remembered the answer, and three people still beat me by mere seconds.
BUT, how do you know the all 8:00ers aren't all high speed?

Heh. I was the second to respond (at least in the post lineup), and I'm on dialup.
I'm guessing the only reason mine wasn't first was because I had to go through this:
Refresh the page, see the red. Scroll down. Browser decides to snap to the top of the page. I frantically scroll down (yay, scrollmice!)
Read the question, exclaim "I KNOW THIS!!"
Click "Fast reply." Type frantically. Click "Post."
BEAT!!
So I guess it really depends on how fast you can type & how well you know your FM Trivia. *shrug*
I'd still like to see Sara die, though.

Not in this case. ;)
Sara is getting immunity because people know that it will be gone if it doesn't.
Not sure if anyone's responded to this claim or not yet (sorry I haven't been around to keep up) but it seems to me that the whole save-Sara thing isn't as much of a necessity as people believe. A few rounds back SMAP grabbed immunity and Sara barely came close to getting enough votes.
The thing is this - last time we had people who were in it to bump Sara out early and as strongly as possible (and we all know who that was). This time people are voting strategically but not as maliciously. I really don't think you guys have anything to worry about. Again, I'd love to see Sara/SMAP face-off. But the game is what it is. No rules changes. Nancy and I stand by each other :-) If you wanna fight against Sara, then get quick with those immuntiy questions - people are coming close as hell, but just barely losing out.
And now that I'm done, I've gotta go into work at 12:30 am after being up since 10am with 3 hours of sleep before that. So QUITE YER WHINING :p

You all know that IKINW is my fave Tusk-song. Closely followed, sometimes even equal with Storms. Yes, you are reading no lies here. But trhis game has taken me to the ultimate fighting spirit: The votes of most of the Stevie-fans have been 100% AGAINST the spirit of this album, that I'm willing to piss them off to go for SMAP untill the end. I've been forced to vote against my nature constantly in this AND previous Tusk-thread. If you ask me now, at this moment, if a lot of votes were there for IKINW and SMAP, I'd be willing to do the ULTIMATE prostitution-vote. H*ll, even Judas could not stand looking me in the eye.

AGAIN>>>
Michael (poetinmyheart)...IMHO if you win immunity again tonight, you should vote for the song you want to give immunity to... be it Sara or whatever. Do not change your vote because of the sour grapey stuff around here! lol ;. ) Seriously, in real Survivor, there is no rule on how many times a tribemate can win immunity. If Colby won eight times in a row, the other Survivors would be mad, but would Mark Burnett change the rules mid game? Newp. For the record, I am not a big Sara fan, so I don't care, at this point in the game, if she gets immunity or not. It is my least favorite Stevie song on the album and IKINW is my MOST favorite, along with Storms and SoTM. I'm just saying the rules should not be changed mid way through the game just because people don't like "who" is winning immunity. Please vote for the song you want to save if you win immunity tonight! Don't change your game plan because of some complaining. If SMaP had gotten immunity six times in a row, I am sure THAT wouldn't have been unfair!

A wonderful compromise Brian. I'd be more than happy to go along with this alliance. Count me in. "Angel" can go next round.............IF. ;)
Hell, I'll even sweeten the deal. I won't cast a vote against IKINW until the final round, and then maybe, depending on what it's going against, I'd even vote for it to win. That's a Buckingham song to be proud of! :)

It's a "making of" thing, but it has a whole live performance in addition to studio singing and practicing - really cool - really, really cool. It's cutest when Stevie and LInds are in the studio, and trying to practice a harmony, and they smile at each other and sing beautifully together, and kind of mess up once, then stevie flirty smiles at lindsey. And stevie's awesome charleston during the performance, in her high boots and all...sooooo cute.

"Over and Over" is Christine's best song not only on this album, but in an overall tie with "Why"- so I ain't voting it off. "Save Me a Place" and "Angel" are about equal for me, however, "Save Me a Place" is a higher up Lindsey song for me than "Angel" is in the Stevie hierarchchy.
So, good-bye "Angel" (no Lindsey pun intended).

There were a few freakish reasons to vote for immunity storm: (1). it is one of my favorite songs and the stevie song I think most likely to be in the top two.
(2.) Some people (myself included) have at times made this stricltly a Lindsey Vs. Stevie contest and if I were one of those people and very angry about SMAP, the strategic target is the less obvious storms.
(3.)I assumed choosing one of the few songs to have only received one vote or less, those calling for no immunity would have pseudo have their wish until the next time, when Sugar will surely beat me.

Yarp, i always thought this a long time ago. It's growing on me, that lovely qualuude song (quaalude?) but it's still my least favorite Stevie song on the album...but usually when i'm thinking of the song in my head, i blend what i think of live and album versions, so it's a mishmash of my own opinion about different performances...

Good thing. We're doing our best to come up with fun immunity questions that will force you to think. We don't want too many questions that have quick 'if you know it, you know it' answers. That way everyone has to work/race to find the answer - not just be there first and get the first post as quickly as possible. So along the way we're bound to hit a snag or two with debates over answers - but that's all good. We're doing our best to verify things ahead of time, and if there IS a big argument over an answer/immunity, then we shall deal with it as it arises.
Anyways - my vote unfortunately goes to Sara. Not strategic, not for revenge, not because I'm sick of typing out 'Sara has immunity' - just because I find it one of the more boring songs on the album and I feel bad for Christine, losing out so many of her songs so early.

O.K. now Judas from the Netherlands ( sorry Gerald, I couldn`t resist) keeps voting for Lindseys songs out of some obscure tactical reasons, you met Dr. Alzheimer yesterday, Diss went into observation mode last round while the Chiffonheads organized a professional high speed DSL account with AntiSMAP function. No wonder they always win the immunity thing and no wonder the best songs from TUSK are gone or about to go by now...
So to wash yourself clean from what you've all done I declare you responsible for the following: Stay up all night till the immunity question gets asked, keep up an expensive phone conference during this time to have a larger knowledge- base for answering it and last but not least go and buy some superfastspeed- DSL too. After that all will be good and forgiven  Perhaps we then even could consider to start a completely new Tusk survivor thread

And then the fact that dissention didn't vote, one vote "forgotten" (enchantedsln), and still one 100% smap-vote on hold (moderators, when is Carnevaca allowed back?). I agree I sound sour and bitter here, and OK finally you got what you wanted, but at least don't overdo by using the word masterplan at your first success in almost Three!!!! weeks. You were lucky. O.K. now Judas from the Netherlands ( sorry Gerald, I couldn`t resist) keeps voting for Lindseys songs out of some obscure tactical reasons...
Stefan, my dear german friend,
I owe you an apology for my TWO (nothing more) votes for Lindsey-songs.
But to set things straight: One was during a round with two LB-songs under the axe, and I had my reasons to save one of them. It was at a time that a vote for any other song would not have made the difference. So I voted out TAFE , SMAP stayed. By one vote difference. The chiffonheads must have pulled their hairs out.
The other one was in the dramatic WATL- SMAP round. A lot of votes for Angel but by the time I voted the difference was 8 votes between Angel and SMAP. WATL was about 4 votes behind Smap, so I figured that voting for WATL was needed to save Smap. Some other ledgies who wanted to go for Angel changed their route, too, and together we saved Smap. Again.
I am really NOT proud of those votes but I was eager to clear out some of the obscure strategy you were talking about. Nothing obscure my friend. Just coldhearted placed bullseye shots. From now on I’ll vote 100% by my own taste. Unless I see the possibility to piss those pink boa’s off.

Crikey, I almost typed "Save Me A Place" in my subject line, it got to be such a habit!
I looked around at what's left... and I looked around at what's being voted for... and I decided to vote against "Over And Over."
I feel guilty for voting to eliminate yet another Christine song, but my faves of hers are all pretty much gone, and "Over & Over" and "Never Make Me Cry" are my least faves.
If this song was already gone, and one of my favorite Chris tracks was in jeopardy, then I'd have voted for "Angel."
(Oh, and I might as well apologize to Amber, Nancy and Sharon now, because "Angel" will, in all likelyhood, be the song I vote for in Round 10.) :sorry:

It wasn't the "Chiffon Heads" working to eliminate "Save Me A Place."
That was the assumption by many, of course, but it's not the truth.
The only "faction" working to eliminate "Save Me A Place," were those of us who severely dislike that song.
Many of whom have also voted against "Sara" at various times, and don't want it to proceed any further in the game either.
So, as leader of this particular "terrorist" organization, I just want to say that the "Anti-SMAPers" take full responsibility for this. We want full credit to be given to us for all of our hard work, not to those darn "Chiffon Heads"! ;)

There is indeed a very good chance Lindsey will still win this.
Thankfully, one of my fave Lindsey songs is still in the running, and hopefully it will make it to the top.
THIS song actually exemplifies the "spirit of 'Tusk'" that we so often discuss and debate, because it's boisterous and bold and daring and full of life.
"Ballsy" is a good word, in fact.
And that, to me, is Lindsey's crowning achievement in regards to 'Tusk,' and THAT is the spirit that we should be supporting.
"Save Me A Place" does not represent that spirit to me.

I'm listening to the Tusk rehearshal of SMAP right now and I just don't get the hatred towards it at all! It's such a beautiful song. I can understand why some people hate The Ledge, since it's "radical", punk-influenced Lindsey but SMAP? :distress:
I do love Sara, Strand, its one of my favourite songs ever , but I admit it would also be nice to see The Ledge win this thing.
I just don't think it is beautiful, that's the exact reason I don't like it. I think it sounds mostly like a droning, atonal dirge. It's almost kinda pretty in a couple places, but then, no, still atonal. And, it's slow, to boot...I don't hate it, like, say, I hate people who poach cheetahs, or corned beef and cabbage...it's just my least favorite on Tusk.
I love the ledge, it's fast, layered, fast, upbeat, fast, and there's weird harmonies.

Mmmm, I know a lot of people here will think I'm sacrilegious but I think Sisters Of The Moon is Stevie most contrived and least inspired moment on Tusk. Sure it's a show-stopper live but on the record... I don't know, it definitely feels like she said to herself "I must write another rockin' mysterious woman-type song in the mould of Rhiannon". The single version is cool though, I like the way it just cuts out!
Ooooooooo, no! "Sisters of the Moon" is so inspired and so, so creeped out!!
This is way more inspired than "Rhiannon" ever was- at least "Sisters.." is based on Stevie's reality- whereas "Rhiannon" is just some cheesy allegory.

I have to say I agree with you... "Sisters Of The Moon" seems like a self-conscious nod to "Rhiannon" and "Gold Dust Woman."
It's notable in the lyrics, and then the chosen production-style most definitely drums that point home.
"Angel" is at least funky, and rather different from anything Stevie had done up to that point.

Even if SOTM is a nod to Rhiannon and GDW, well....wait, why does it have to be a nod to them? Sometimes bands and singer/songwriters write songs that have a certain feel that their other songs also have. You know, because they MIGHT SOUND LIKE THEMSELVES? Hello? But even if it is a "nod", it certainly isn't an inferior nod, IMO. I mean, to me, Lindsey's TUSK songs sound very related, and practically ALL of CMcVie's songs sound close to each other...so big whoop. So some of Stevie's songs sound like other stevie songs... Doesn't make them bad...

Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying it's bad in any way. I don't really consider it self-derivative either.
I'm a big fan of leitmotif, so I love it when songs have a thematic or musical connection to the songwriter's previous work.
But I think "Sisters" may have been a bit too calculated of an attempt to capture the vibe of "Rhiannon" and "Gold Dust Woman."
Beyond that, I just think some of Stevie's other 'Tusk' songs are more deserving of a shot at the top spot, because they find her exploring territory that she had only lightly touched upon in her work prior to 1979, or hadn't touched upon at all.
"Sisters" is an extension of something she had already proven her hand at.

SOTM live is a COMPLETLY different animal. I maintain that if that Mirage concert version didn't exist, this song wouldn't get nearly the love that it does.
I mean c'mon? WTF is a "sister of the moon" except some vague "Stevie-sounding" shawl draped thing? It's contrived!
And the demo is cool (listening to it now), but I'm not sure where it should have been taken to for the album. One thing's for sure; it didn't end up in the right place anyway!
This is easily her weakest thing on the album, and I was certian I was the only one who felt this way. Color me thrilled to learn I am not!

Wow, I totally agree.

I think it's incredible that people like Nightbird_Brett and myself and tons of others who actually love and appreciate BOTH Stevie & Lindsey's Tusk work are being polarized to one side or another (The "Choose Sides or Die" mentality). I love Sara and Save Me A Place. I love That's All For Everyone and I love Sisters of the Moon. Get over it.
Those of us who love them both (even if we can't help but have a slight preference towards one or the other) always get stuck in the middle. :distress:
That's why I wanted to make clear that the votes against "Save Me A Place" were not a Stevie vs. Lindsey thing. Some of us just plain don't like the song... it wasn't about rivalry or revenge.
But maybe Mark Burnett is editing this whole thing, to create more drama!

Well it doesn't take an idiot to realize that there are some people on this message board who will always make every single thing into a "Stevie vs. Lindsey" thing and it's quite ridiculous. Newsflash: It's not 1987 anymore-- Stevie and Lindsey actually LIKE each other now! Shocka! I know! I just think some people need to get over the whole rivalry thing. It's bad for the fandom, in my opinion. Sorry to rant, but it's something I've wanted to say on this board for a very long time. There is no other board in FM Fandom where the "Stevie vs. Lindsey" thing is so pronounced, and you have to ask yourself why that is.

So now you think SOTM is Stevie's weakest Tusk song. I always thought that was Sara. But of course you're going to tell me you have a right to change your mind.

I remembered I know I'm not wrong had repeated lyrics:
Here comes the nighttime

waitin on the last time
someone outside the door.
I knew the lyrics, I just couldn't remember not that funny as the other song.

No, I was agreeing on the fact that it's cryptic Stevie at her most hilarious and self-conscious and that it's a totally different animal live. ;) Sara is still weakest.

I realize now that TECHNICALLY it's not the same FOUR lines (the third line changes between songs) - but if anyone wants to seriously debate this, when too bad :-) Enough people got it right that it's a fair question. And don't say I'm playing favorites, because believe me, I want Sara out of this things a.s.a.p., hehehehe....
