Default Is Anyone Else COMPLETELY Bummed?

Back in October, the media blitz began. The VBOFM was released, ads were in mags about the "Year of Fleetwood Mac," we were being told to be patient about a double CD, a world tour; all the good stuff.

Then...we were told it would not be a double album. But that was okay because at least we were getting something.

Then...Mick's web site and Jonathan Todd reared their ugly heads. We were asked to pay $1,100 to meet two members of the band for 20 minutes. Members of the board were told to "slap" people who didn't like the idea.

Then...the fan club was created. People paid $60-$80 for pictures and Q&As, no merch. But, the prospect of getting advanced tickets was appealing.

Then...fan club members were offered the worst seats available at the venues through the pre-sale. Mr. todd said too bad and refused to give refunds.

Then...amazon.com posted that there would be a limited edition of the album for sale. People who pre-ordered the album from the official sites for over $20 were told there was no such thing.

Then...they were told that if there was a limited edition, it would be available as an upgrade but...it still didn't exist.

Then...people were banned off of Mick's board, had their computers screwed with, and all around messed with by screwy people.

Then...ticket prices for a live show went through the roof. $300 at some venues.

Then...the album was released (with no upgrade from the official sites) and everyone loved it.

Then...they read the liner notes and saw that Jonathan Todd was thanked by THE BAND. Insult to injury.

Then...people got mad at the band for not giving a **** about the fans.

Then...they did a concert on the Today show. 'Nuff said.

Then...they did two nights on the Tonight show. 'Nuff said.

Then...people were in a panic about spending sooooo much money to see them live when it was possible that they would be awful.

I am so saddened by what has happened that it is really putting a damper upon my enjoyment of The Year of Fleetwood Mac. Does anyone else feel this way? It seems like nothing is going right. I love this band so much that it makes me feel bad when I think they're awful. it's just that we know they're better than what they're doing; why aren't they showing it???

Well...the album hasn't been out too long. Hopefully they can turn it around with a strong second single (oh wait...it's SYW...nevermind)

They really gotta turn it up during the tour.

This whole thing has made me so sad. You said it all dissention. I'm having a hard time buying that plane ticket for Columbus, I'm thinking about buying a jacuzzi tub instead. I love this band but how much more of my money do I want to give them? I wouldn't mind if I thought the spark would be there in the performances. I've flown all over to see Stevie but what has happened lately has been an eye opening experience. Is it worth it?

Default Totally agree

I agree with all of it. I'd planned a fun trip to Portland to attend the Rose Garden with friends. We looked at everything going on, looked at the ticket prices, and said screw it.

If I see that the reviews are solid, if I hear that their performances have some real energy, maybe I'll change my mind and visit ebay or scalpers. But until then, I've said

GOODBYE, BABY:
