Default They Crached the hot 100!!

I just heard because of the Digital Download, that they've entered the Billboard Hot 100, of course it's way up in the 90s but maybe if radio play picks up who knows...

Default Cracked

I think Peacekeeper is amazing, and despite it's low entry onto the billboard charts, will gain momentum as the weeks go on, and, i wouldn't be surprised if it goes right up to the top of the charts and eventually gets to NO 1

One of my friends told me this yesterday, I think he said it was either 93 or 94.

No. 93 certainly does look like a low entry, but here's an excerpt from last week's "Chartbeat Chat" column at www.billboard.com that might put things in perspective...

[ It's the answer to the question about Madonna's new single "American Life" (which will be available as a digital-download single at the end of March) and the impact of the downloads on its chart entry without a (yet to be released) commercial single: ]

The latest information is that SoundScan will be tracking paid downloads of "American Life," and these sales will count toward the song's position on the Hot 100. It is not the first time a digitally available MP3 track has been counted, but in the past the number of paid downloads per song was so small that there was no effect on chart position.

In this case, "American Life" will be the first digital-download-only single to appear on the Hot 100 Singles Sales chart. As you mentioned, the downloads can be purchased now, but the track won't be sent until March 24. That means sales will be counted in the tracking week that ends March 30 for the charts that are compiled on Wednesday, April 2. Those charts will be for the week ending April 12 and will appear in that issue of Billboard. They will be posted on Billboard.com on Thursday, April 3.

A commercial CD single will be released on April 8, so those sales figures won't kick in until "American Life" is already on the sales chart because of the paid downloads. Where the song appears on the main Hot 100 will depend on how much airplay it receives, and how many copies it sells. A potent combination of sales and airplay could indeed mean Madonna will collect her 13th chart-topper. We'll just have to wait and see.

So now Fleetwood Mac are actually the first band/artists to enter the Hot 100 with the help of an internet single. Not bad, is it?

I would doubt peacekeeper will make a significant impact on the hot 100. I posted at length about this in some other threads, so I will not get into enormous detail. The hot 100 is dominated by radio formats that are not likely to play Fleetwood Mac. However, Peacekeeper is doing very well on the Adult Alternative chart, AC chart and hot ac chart. Debuting between 24-34 depending on the chart. I will give you an example of how odd the Hot 100 chart is and it positions not relevant to the airplay sucess of a song. John Mayer's Your body is a Wonderland is song that has an enjoyed an extended run of heavy airplay. It peaked in the the top 3 of the Adult Alt., AC, and Hot AC chart. On the hot 100 it never cracked the top 20. Peaking at 22. So don't get caught up in the Hot 100 and use that to judge the sucess of Peacekeeper.
