Hey Adam, I just did a search over at All Music Guide for Docklands, and it seems that Stevie is the only one who recorded it. There was no other record of the song being on an album.

The song was written and recorded by an artist called Betsy Cook. She did it on her album (a bit better than Stevie i may add!!- though it is still a dreadful song!)

the album was called 'The girl who ate herself' and it is a pretty good album, but Docklands is not the best track!

i don't skip it and i sing along to it when i listen to street angel... but come on.... hearing stevie sing "Papa says...there are clothes to wash Sister says...brush your hair You'll go down...to the laundromat" is just sort of weird... i don't know... maybe i'll go in search of this other person's version (though with a title "the girl who ate herself" i'm not so sure) to see if i like it better... or i can just sit and listen to EO17 which just came on the radio.... i'm thinking the latter is winning.

Again, I love Docklands. The line about the laundromat and brushing her hair doesn't bother me at all, and the (full) chorus lyrics make up for it, not to mention her wailing. I don't know if the song has any significance to Stevie, but to me it's a song about having everyone giving you so much to do that you don't have any time to do what YOU want to do.
