Logically, my first bet would be that FM (or Reprise) would release an album cut (track) so that people would shell out the money for the album as opposed to a single. But why would they release the first song on Tuesday, March 4, which is when labels release singles and albums? Anyone have any constructive input?

I really don't understand your question here. Any album basically releases a single, and these days it's normal to release a single about 4-5 weeks before the album is due in stores -- and if that IS the case, it's kind of reassuring because the record co. is treating FM like any other band today (unlike they did with Stevie by waiting two days AFTER the album's release to release the singles). But really,

If the song is going to be released on a Tuesday, then I think it's probably a single for sale in stores. Otherwise, it would probably be released to radio stations any day of the week.

Tuesdays just seem to be the standard industry release-day, whether the record company is shipping out copies of an album, or just releasing a song to radio (though, when it comes to singles, many stations begin playing them in advance of the "official" release date anyway).
Hope this answers your question. ![]() Johnny Stew
