American Idol Concert and Stevie!!

Hey guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I attended the American Idol concert in San Antonio on Saturday and Nikki performed "Rhiannon"---piano intro and all!! She really did a fantastic job! She even had a Stevie type outfit on--sort of like the one on the "Sorcerer" video but black. She started off by saying that she "now wanted to a song from her idol-Stevie Nicks." Needless to say I jumped out of my seat and started cheering the minute I heard her say that. My cousin had to remind me that it wasn't Stevie on the stage...LOL. I was so excited though because I wasn't expecting it. Well, I'll quit rambling. I just wanted to let you all know.

Well i'm glad to hear she didn't butcher it like she did on the clip from the American Idol webpage..she has a pretty cool style..but i still think Tamyra should have won the whole damn thing.

I went to the AI concert last night in Dallas and OMG, when she came out and said the words Stevie Nicks and Rhiannon, I just about DIED!!!! I was like, YES!!!!!!!!!!!! I sang EVERY word and clapped FRANTICALLY for Nikki, and I've never been a fan of her singing...although she's cute as a button and has a cute style, plus she's a TEXAN...like Kelly Clarkson. I enjoyed the concert, I loved Justin, RJ and Kelly the most...my mom loved Ryan, she thinks she is gorgeous and say she should have won, not Kelly. My mom doesn't like Kelly's voice.

Nikki's exact words at the concert: "Stevie says you can't sing Rhiannon without these, she calls them 'Rhiannon sleeves"...that was cool, because Nikki must've talked to Stevie personally, perhaps!! I'm happy for her because Stevie is her idol.

I agree. I think Nikki has a great look, but I was disappointed by her AI performance of Edge of 17. I heard her sing Rhiannon a long time before she sang on the show and I was also disappointed by that performance. Although I think, with a little work, she could really be good.

I am auditioning for AI in Atlanta at the end of the month, singing At Last and I hope, if I get on the show, I will be able to do a Stevie song or 2.

JamzenFlower, wow, that's great that you are auditioning for AI. Best of luck to you. I just want to offer some advice -- don't sing more than one song by Stevie (or by any other artist for that matter). I have a strong feeling that that's why Nikki was eliminated due to what Paula Abdul had to say after she sang Edge of 17. Granted, she didn't do the song too well, but Paula said that Stevie is a great American idol because she distinguished herself...her own style, her voice, etc. And I think that Nikki doing two Stevie songs in a row kind of made her look like more of a wannabe than a distinguishable American idol. The other truth is that Justin and Kelly were obviously better singers than her...but that comment by Paula Abdul really made it seem like it's not good not only to do a bunch of songs by one artist, but to try to act like that artist. Then again, it's just advice -- do what you want to do. I'm just saying what I observed from the only episode of the show that I watched...
