Question Alice (AUSTIN TX)

HEY...

Everytime I do a search for "Stevie Nicks Live" on WINMX or Kazaa I get a result for "Alice Live Austin TX"...Anyone know where or when this is from?

Hi Adam,

Well, I think there *are* some bootlegs of the 1989 Austin performance, but the one you keep turning up is *probably* the Houston, TX. concert, from October 8th of that year (which is often mislabeled as Austin).

The show was broadcast over Westwood One, and is available as an excellent quality bootleg.
This is also the same show where the "Whole Lotta Trouble" video was filmed.

I think the shmuck who put together the first boot CD copy of "Livespace" (the version with the black cat on the cover) is at fault here. At the end of the Whisky show, (s)he added four songs from the '89 radio show & called it Austin.

Actually there is a boot from Austin TX called Under the Texas Sky. The four songs after the Livespace show do tend to sound a lot like the Austin show, but I could be wrong. I love this show, Stevie sounds very clear and crisp on it, unlike the video I have from San Jose where she sounds a little flat most of the time. I think that just has to do with the quality of the video though. I'm not very thrilled with Stevie's performance on this video...my God she looks so tired on it, which IS understandable under the circumstances. Plus as I've said before, the set list was not put together well. The three most energetic songs are in the last five songs of the show -- Stand Back, WLT, and Edge. But on Under the Texas Sky, the person moved Stand Back between GDW and Alice, which just makes it seem a little more balanced. But in any case, the version you are getting COULD be from Under the Texas Sky, or it could be the Houston show. But just to let everyone know, there is a very clear boot of the Austin show.

Sorcerer... if "Stand Back" is between "Gold Dust Woman" and "Alice," then that bootleg is also from the Westwood One broadcast of the October 8th, Houston, TX. show.

David is right (as usual! )... whoever put together the 'Livespace' CD all those years ago, mislabeled the source of the last three tracks, as Austin, TX.... and that mistake has been carried over from bootleg to bootleg, for years.

If anyone is listening to an (almost) crystal-clear recording from the 'Other Side Of The Mirror' tour, then it's 98% likely that you've got the Houston show.

Hope that clears up the confusion!

Thumbs up I WAS AT BOTH THE AUSTIN AND HOUSTON OSOTM SHOWS!!

Just wanted to say that! Heh. And of course, we stuck around for the taping of Whole Lotta Trouble, which was a HUGE surprise, we had no idea!

Livia,

I'm good friends with a guy who was at the concert where they filmed the "Blue Denim" video in 1994... he said it was a really interesting experience, and Stevie was in a great mood.
(He also caught the bouquet she threw into the audience at the beginning of the show, *and* at the end of the video-shoot, she leaned down and handed him a guitar pick! )

Would you mind giving us some details on the filming of "Whole Lotta Trouble"?
How long it lasted... if there were a lot of re-takes.... etc.

Whatever you feel like sharing!

Default Let me see what I can remember...

Stevie made an announcement either before or after WLOT when it was actually part of the real show, that they would be filming a video for it after the concert and everyone was invited to stick around! Most of the arena cleared out after the show, leaving about 2/3 of the floor empty. We had arena level seats and tried to get on the floor, but security wouldn't let us. wtf? We were like the only people milling around the arena level. My friend even tried to bribe someone $20 to let us on the floor, and he turned us down. Eventually, we sneaked our way on the floor - I think they spent about an hour or so filming. Stevie was VERY funny in-between takes, talking to the audience and joking around. She sang a few a capella bars of Talk to Me, I think that was it, and screwed up the words, and cracked everyone up.

I was really into acting at the time, and I even put it on my resume, LOL. "Audience Participant" for a Stevie Nicks video. LOL again.

Cheers!
Livia
