Ok now, I have been binging on this song for a week now. Live version, studio version, this acoustic version. Bob said one day they were sitting around getting wasted and pondering the future. Future Games is about the deep uncertainty of the future, the global state of the world, and the choices humans make to shape their own destiny. It was a very chaotic time in 1971. Vietnam was at its peak. Nixon was gearing up to wiretap and destroy democrats. The government purposely labeling marijuana as a schedule 1 narcotic for political purposes. All this us vs them to exploit anything to stay in power. Holy **** this same stuff is happening today. All of you owe to to yourselves to go get stoned and listen to Future Games. What would Bob say about living in today's world? Sort of scary and spooky.
BTW
Anyone know anything about the dog in the photo at 7:59? John looks so wasted in that photo

I wonder too what bob would have thought about what is going on now in this sad state of affairs. He was always into conspiracy theories UFOs etc, but things today are a step beyond what they were back then. I am very ashamed of my country these days.

John does look wasted but imo they all look a little off, i think there's a filter over the faces? mick looks nothing like himself.

I think that dog was Bailey, although they had 2 dogs and i'm not sure what the other's name was. Years ago i chatted a bit w a person who said they had been neighbors w FM back in the day at benifols, and this person said when they all moved away to LA, they left the dogs at the house! That sounds odd to me because i know at least J&C were such animal/dog lovers and it's weird to think they'd just abandon their pets, but i wonder if they just figured neighbors who knew the dogs would feed and care for them? Maybe they had been sort of outdoor dogs anyway (retrievers)..? But if this is indeed true, that was crappy to hear!!

Oh wow I hope that story is not true. I like dogs more than people so that would make me angry and lots of people do that.
Speaking of dogs, didn't Lindsey's crazy ex write a book where she alleges Stevie locked her small dog in a sunporch and forgot they were there and almost died. She also alleged that Stevie's eye contacts almost got adhered to her cornea because she was up for days and never slept and never took out the contacts.
Some people don't deserve dogs. I always loved the videos of Chris running around her gardens in the 2004 In The Meantime promos.
