Default Taylor Swift praises Stevie Nicks

https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/t...y?id=111579897

Stevie has done some wonderful work and deserves the recognition for her contributions to women in music, but that doesn't mean that longtime fans have to like what she has become (and no I'm not just talking Lindsey's firing). It easy to celebrate the work she did in her prime because she worked hard and created a lot of music that stands the test of time.

Personally, I like some of the music that Taylor has done, but think she is definitely overblown at the moment. I saw Taylor years ago and she boasted about all her guests on that tour and I guess she is still recognizing a different female at every show, so this isn't particularly special. Try telling that to Stevie and her management though. Just another boost to an already overblown ego for someone who is still riding her past accomplishments. Next her management will be introduced her as the only two time hall of famer and Taylor's biggest influence.

And there are so many that came before Stevie. There's Janis, Grace, Tina, Rosetta, Nina, Joni, Aretha...the list goes on.

One overblown artist calling out another overblown artist lol.

I gotta hand it to Stevie's team, they sure know how to play the game.

I watched this and it gave me the warm fuzzies all over. Maybe I’m getting soft. Hearing Taylor tell a stadium the size of a city all about Miss Nicks and put the camera on her seems like an extraordinary way for the hottest music act today to reach out publicly and turn the attention of all those kids on a long-ago idol. It’s a bridge from the present to the past and back to the present again. It rises way above cringe and becomes a pretty profound statement. Other hot acts grab bits of old classics and fold them into hip hop without paying any sort of articulated respect — it’s like picking at old carcasses. But Taylor puts the camera on this old woman and tells tens of thousands who she is and how much she means to Taylor herself, and it’s totally believable.

It kinda reminds me of when the brilliant young white hooligans in Fleetwood Mac went to Chess in Chicago to record and mix and revere the black blues and soul greats. It’s not that Stevie is Otis Spann or Willie Dixon but that she is Taylor’s musical predecessor and Taylor knows it.

I found Stevie's reaction very....sort of odd. I mean, you get called out, and you don't at least give some sort of little wave or something? (Not a big, flamboyant one, but...) She just sits there with her phone kinda blocking her face.... why? To sit and re-watch later alone in her hotel room?? I mean, seriously though, wouldn't you expect Karen to be the one holding up a phone and recording it (she was right there next to her)?? Miss "I don't have a cell phone" who became "I only use the camera".... well, she's for sure replaced her ancient Polaroid with her phone and must be the selfie queen for sure....

And I want to know what sorts of situations Stevie has "helped" Taylor with.... career-related, relationship-related....?

I find this embarrassing but now i realize Taylor will be on Stevie's next album and first single. That's obviously what is going to happen. Stevie is going to end her career big.

Harry Styles was also selling out outdoor stadiums on his last tour and invited Stevie to join him at the Forum in LA (19,000 fans). The roar and respect from the young teeny boppers was like what you'd get if you were The Beatles. So I am thrilled that both Harry & Taylor have raved about Stevie to their fans. It probably could be one of the reasons she is now selling out the largest indoor arenas herself that she was never able to do without Fleetwood Mac, other than her being a legend and all. I am very happy for her.
