Arrow Whole Lotta Trouble tour 1991 NJ

This is an excellent quality concert that was recently uploaded to Youtube. I really liked this very short era of Stevie. Her 1991 solo tour was called the Whole Lotta Trouble tour because Timespace was not out and there was no album to promote. When the tour was announced I remember thinking her album was going to be called Whole Lotta Trouble. It was more of a celebration what was to come of her greatest hits album. However no new songs were ever performed from Timespace except on the Aresnio Hall show and her radio broadcast from the House of Blues at the very end of the tour. Her band was so much better than her 1989 band. It was her first solo tour with 2 guitarists and it added such an edge. I saw this tour a few days from this NJ stop. This tour was truly and end of an era for Stevie. It came at a very odd time. The BTM tour got postponed due to Chris's father's passing. The Mac regrouped and made up the dates late in 1990. This delayed her Best Of album. Her new songs never got proper promotion since its single was released post tour and never really charted. But this tour was about fun. She had a great band. Here are a few highlights for me:

I love during the first line of Outside The Rain when Stevie says "your heart skips a beat" she takes her fist and pounds on the mic to make it sound like a heartbeat. So cool. I never saw her do this on any other tour.

If Anyone Falls finally returns to the set. After 2 solo tours of ignoring it, it was refreshing to hear again.

HAWAFY was not an encore. It was in the set but towards the end. This is the only Stevie tour that it was played and not the encore.

First Stevie solo tour to feature Landslide. Its a great closer and encore. Its almost like her Songbird. It was very nice how the band all came around her in a half circle to perform it at the end. The solo in the song is done on an electric guitar which was a different take than the full acoustic version. I loved the Dance Landslide how it came back to its roots. However looking back these 1990s version does appeal to me.

Stevie's voice is really strong. She may not hit as high as she could but she could still throw her voice here and there.

The strobe lights and explosions during Edge of 17 are wild. Its almost like an AC DC concert: For those about to rock, WE SALUTE YOU and the cannons would go off. Les is doing this rocking intro to Edge of 17 and starts doing these guitar riffs and these giant explosions are going off. Stevie comes out in her wild hair in strobe lights.

OMG those shoulder pads. Her shoulder pads make her look like Frankenstein especially during Rhiannon. Speaking of Rhiannon, she is twirling here like its 1977. One of my favorite versions of Rhiannon is this tour and the "will you take me with you" ending. She had passion and was probably her has passionate live version of the song.

Was this the last tour that Sharon would come out and sing at her mic during Edge of 17? The edge walk during Edge of 17 is insane. She is literally being pelted with stuff animals and flowers. Some HUGE GIANT stuffed animals too. Someone gives her a tambourine and she starts shaking it banging her head back and forth and her big hair going crazy.

I am not a lover of Whole Lotta Trouble but her band here really takes the song to another level compared to other tours.

Get a diaper Bwboy because you may need it. Sister Honey's guitarist plays a rocking Talk To Me

It was sort of sad at the end when Stevie says "see you next year" She had been touring in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1991. But it was the end of an era. There would be no next year or the year after. A few years later she fell into her fireplace headfirst and was the point that she decided to get clean.

This was the first concert that I could legally drink at since I just turned 21. I loved the show but the set was way too short. Ridiculously short. What are your memories?

I saw this show in Charlotte. The outdoor venue had just opened and I think Stevie was the 2nd act to play there. Whitney was the first. I thought she looked and sounded really good and I loved her band. Her hair had soft curls and she had on some different clothes than usual. I also like the stage design. It looks like she was in her living room with a large rug and some chandeliers. I still have the tour program from that tour, which I love to look back on and bring back memories of the show along with videos like this on YouTube. I remember she brought back Landslide to the set, which was was a treat. I also like how each band brings different sounds and arrangements to the songs that had been played so many times before.

This is around the time when Stevie did interviews appearing angry and trashing Mick and her managers, which one of the first time she showed that side on herself.

My mind is a little fuzzy of the timeframe, but I saw the BTM tour twice. The 2nd time the show was cancelled the day of the show supposedly due to Stevie. When the show was rescheduled it was announced that Stevie and Chris would not be touring with the band at the end of the leg of the tour. Supposedly they would participate in future recording but not tour, which is weird. This is around the time of the boxset that Mick was organizing. A lot of activity was happening, but it felt like an ending. Even though they failed to admit it, some members, especially Stevie, was really upset about Mick's first book. The signs were there, but Mick's book was the first time I heard about about Mick and Stevie affair, which appeared to overlap with Mick's marriage(s) and several of Stevie's relationships.

I think opening night of the 2005 Co-Headlining Tour with Henley was the last time Sharon sang at Stevie's mic.

HAEWAFY was played during the main set of the 2005 Gold Dust Tour.

Thank you for the correction.
Was this the last tour that Stevie brought the crowd flowers?

I saw this tour at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, Texas. The venue had only been open about a year. This was the beginning of Stevie playing the outdoor sheds that became popular in that era. Many large cities were building one.

If you live in the south, these outdoor sheds are a miserable place to see a concert in the summer heat. The humidity is horrid. Word is, Stevie HATES playing them. These outdoor sheds are much cheaper to rent than large indoor arenas, thereby turning a greater profit for the artist.

I saw Stevie at this outdoor shed in 1991, 1994, 1998, 2001, and once with Fleetwood Mac during the second, repeat leg of the Say You Will Tour.

I'm glad that she is back playing indoor arenas.

I might also add that Mark Andes from Heart played bass in Stevie's band for the 1991 tour. I think Mark left Heart after the 1990 Brigade album and tour. Also - Les Dudek was the guitarist. At one time, Stevie dated Les Dudek - although I'm not sure they were dating during the 1991 tour.

I was not in the south but in Pittsburgh and saw this tour also in a shed. The amphitheater was just one year old. The Mac had scheduled their BTM tour there one year earlier in the summer but had to reschedule to the Civic Arena because it was late November and too cold for an outdoor show. Its not a coincidence they sprung up all over the country at the same time. Concert promoters started luring all the big acts to these sheds. You are correct that Stevie hates playing them. Her Enchanted tour was the summer of 1998 and it was brutally hot across the south. We had Everglade fires in south Florida which made being outdoors risky from all the smoke lingering in the air. She did a radio interview stating how she sweltered in Atlanta and other places through the south. I think she played an Orlando arena and she said it was such relief being indoors for the air conditioning. Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist but its funny how Ticketmaster also took things over with concerts around the same time, no? Stevie's Street Angel tour returned to this shed a few years later and it poured before the show. Its on Youtube. However one of the coolest effects ever was the passing storm during Dreams. No sh*t but when she sung "thunder only happens when its raining" lightening lit of the sky. Outdoor concerts suck.

I was at the Pittsburgh shows also. But remember FM playing Star Lake for the dance? When I look back that was so weird. Why wasn't it at the arena?

Songbird from that show (Dance, Pittsburgh) is on youtube. Its cold there and Christine says in her British accent something like "thanks for coming out its so wintery"
I think that was in September and an early and strong cold front came and made it for a cold night. Should have been at the Civic Arena. I had really good seats there for the BTM tour with Squeeze but it was cancelled until November which did take place at the Civic Arena.
Do you remember her show in 1991 the place had no running water and the toilets were overflowing at the "Star Lake Ampitheater"

I absolutely hate attending shows at these sheds in the summer. I have skipped concerts by other acts that I wanted to see simply because they were playing a shed. Many are built far outside of the city in suburban areas. The parking is a headache. The intense heat can make you pass out. You are soaking wet with sweat and uncomfortable throughout the show. Hard pass.

Your comments on the 1998 Enchanted Tour make sense. During part of the 2001 TISL tour, Stevie became severely ill for a few weeks - I'm sure it was partially due to the heat and allergies in the air at these sheds she was performing in.

Those edge walks were fun, but can I see why she would stop them though. She was already wobbly in those boots (sometimes) and to be that close to the edge of the stage probably scared everyone out of their minds, even when she was sober. I only got to hold her hand once during the walk in 98. It was pretty thrilling.

Me too and it also was 1998. After she fell off the stage 3 times during RAL security was with her closely during the edge walks. But this one was funny because she kept handing things off to him. He is supposed to keep his eye on her, not the stuff she's handing him. He should be keeping his hands on her and not all the stuff she is getting. He just throws it back on the stage. He's like an octopus with trying to do so much while keeping vigilant. She even waits for him as she steps over the speakers. She is getting pelted at one point

Same. I won’t do any of these sheds anymore. Star Lake (Pittsburgh) and Darien Lake (Buffalo/Rochester) are two of the biggest nightmares for every reason you mentioned. Middle of nowhere. And you may as well sit for 3 hours after the show waiting for traffic. And it almost inevitably is cold and/or raining. Every time!

I have to say I really didn’t like this tour or this era for Madame Nicks. Way too much cheese and mullets and ersatz c0ck-rock. Everybody in her band had a mullet, even the women! And those shoulder pads, Jesus. The two new songs on Timespace . . . oh my God, how awful. She didn’t even have to tell us that those songs were a management company request — it was more than obvious. It was a publicity agent’s bad dream. The whole year was a publicity agent’s bad dream. Wasn’t that the year she wrote and sang “Jane” for Jane Goodall?

That year was the only year that I had tickets to see her (in Mountain View) and my buds and I literally — on the way there — pulled off the freeway after a quick pow-wow and decided to have dinner at a steakhouse instead. We ditched the concert on the drive down there. This was after having seen her a few days before at Concord Pavilion. That was more than enough for me. I remember thinking on the freeway, “Why would I put myself through this? I prefer a steak and baked potato.”
