Default Herbert Worthington

I have a question. I noticed Stevie didn't use Herbie for Street Angel photos. There are some by him from this era, I think. What happened to their relationship?

Thats a good question but we may never know. Street Angel was an odd time for Stevie. She was just off drugs for the first time in decades, her hair got burnt, she put on weight and her press started recycling older photos. Stevie also got cheap during this time and would not even do a video for her lead single. On a radio interview she said she did not want to spend too much money because she might have to downsize in her older years (I am paraphrasing). She also was pissed off about the record. Many factors could have contributed to her not using Herbert. Maybe her photos needed a more kind of touching that Herbert did not do during that time.

I always wondered what happened between them. They had such a great relationship and then it ended.

Wasn't his style sort of a spontaneous photographer? At that point in her career she needed filters and less spontaneity.
But then again maybe there was a falling out?

I wondered if he was into drugs and she wanted away from that environment, but that is pure speculation on my part.

She made several statements in the early to mid nineties that suggested she was either afraid of running out of money or was trying to conserve. Like she had to use the royalties from the then very popular Smashing Pumpkins cover of Landslide to repair her pool. It wasn't until the money started to roll in again for The Dance that she seemed to spend freely again.

If someone with her success needed peanut royalties from a Smashing Pumpkins song to make a pool repair then she's as bad with money as Mick.
I cant believe that though. When I heard her Street Angel interview, I think she saw the Mac career over and her solo career crashing to an end. I thought it was more fear and mental than actual financial problems. Her solo album did not chart, her solo tour did not sell that much and was shortened. I could understand her fear. Its hard for me to believe she would be broke. But maybe?

The Dance saved her career and pocketbook. She was such an extravant person when she was successful in the late 1970s and 1980s. She blew through money.
