Default 2015 Fleetwood Mac Album

So, I think we should all assume the new album will drop in 2015. Do you think it will be a 15- 17 track single disc or a double disc with 18-24 tracks. I'm sure this will be their last studio album and if Stevie brings in 5 to 6 songs we are looking at a double disc. Mick, John and Lindsey have done a lot of recording over the last couple of years that I hope all see the day of light. If not it will end up on a Lindsey solo album. I'm hoping its a double disc that will give us a great swan song from these fabulous 5 musicians.

Thoughts?

That may be optimistic. But I'd rather see two separate albums then one double album.

The album will most definitely NOT be a double disc. With the conflict that went into making "Say You Will" a double album, I'm quite sure it won't happen again. I expect the new Fleetwood Mac album to be about 14 songs, with 5 each from Christine and Lindsey. Stevie will bring in another 4 songs to round out the set.

The more Buckingham/McVie, the better.

I wonder how many more albums FM owes WB Records.

I dont know where they or Stevie will find time in 2015 to finish up the new album but it would be great if it comes out while they are still touring.

It should not take Stevie long to slap 4 to 5 songs together and sing some backup oohs and aaahs on some of the other tune tracks .We see how fast she put 24K together.Lets hope the same thing happens with the new FM collection.

Maybe they will add some new tunes on the second leg of the tour.

Assumptions galore! We can speculate all we want to suit our wants and needs. But we'll never know until there is official confirmation.

Stevie's requisite contribution to a Fleetwood Mac album is traditionally three songs. It would be nice if the new album had four of her own songs. Christine typically has as least four songs, and Lindsey fills out the rest. I hope they record enough material for a robust 13 to 15 songs. Bonus tracks are always welcome!

Still have doubts it will ever happen. I'm speculating these tracks will end up scattered between another best of compilation and a Lindsey Buckinham solo album.

I think a single disc dropping about Christmas next year. I don't like the idea of swan song though, especially concerning FM. When it ends, it ends.

It's pretty clear that Stevie doesn't want to do the album and she is being pressured into doing it.

I don't see that at all. There's a political game going on right now, but that doesn't mean Stevie doesn't want to be a part of a Fleetwood Mac album. In any event, it's kind of a red herring, because they can't go into to the studio until late summer, 2015 at the earliest.

Well, FM77 seems convinced the tour will end June 30, but Stevie says she has another year with Fleetwood Mac, so maybe recording will fill some of that time?

They aren't signed to WB or anybody. They have no recording contract. Their EP was self released.

Stevie was the only one signed to a contract going into the tour, which is why I kind of suspect she did 24KG when she did.

Thanks for the info. I did not know that.

I forgot about the EP.

They aren't getting any younger. Time is not on their side. I don't think any of them want to end their legacy with a whimper, leaving their album Say You Will as the coda of their long legacy. Christine's return shouldn't be squandered on a just a blatant cash-grab tour. A tour is a fleeting moment, an album is a lasting contribution to their recorded their history.

They just came off the road from their 2013 tour, then Christine returns. Their snap reaction is to book another tour! Ideally, they should have dedicated all their time and focus on creating what could possibly be their last album. It would have allowed some space for Stevie to promote her album; and she would probably be more amenable to working with the band.

Lindsey does a great job spinning this tour as such a profound chapter in the evolution of the band. But there's nothing profound or evolutionary just because Christine's songs are back in the set. It's just business as usual, as it was, and is again. Greed overruled art.
