She thinks it will be a great song on stage, huh?

Me thinks our gal is planning SOME SORT of tour to promote this project at some point. Perhaps after the Mac tour? She's going to be busy indeed!

Yesss! This song would be absolute perfection. She can't remember who the inspiration was? Hm, the song seems very specific.

Wouldn't that be fabulous?! I have a feeling as well that she's going to promote this gem of an album at some point. Would love to hear Mabel Normand live as well as ATBW and the title track.

That's the same thing she said about Secret Love. I didn't believe it when she said it about that song, and I don't buy it when she says it about this one. I think she knows exactly what it's about.

Did Lindsey need to come help with song structure to make a cohesive narrative or are you just lying, Miss Nicks? You purposefully wrote a verse about Tom Petty using an extremely obvious callback to Silver Springs? Okay then.

Sometimes he’s my best friend
Even when he’s not around
But the sound of his voice
Well, it follows me down
And reminds me

So the above is meant to be about Tom? Even though the below is about Tom? ANOTHER FAMOUS FRIEND is the one giving the advice, that is, Tom. I'm just so surprised she only dealt with the Tom element of the song and not what she was being given advice about. Stevie, if you were going into music shops and coming close to taking home cardboard cut-outs of this person whose music you can't get away from, this person you hadn't gotten over, I AM am retroactively concerned for your mental wellbeing...

Another famous friend told me
Love does end
Make a clean break
He didn’t talk about heartache
You have to let him go

Premiere: Stevie Nicks Reflects on ‘Hard Advice’ From Friend Tom Petty

By Paula Mejia Filed: 10/1/14

The bewitching Stevie Nicks has led a celebrated career over the past four decades, both in her group Fleetwood Mac and solo, guided by her earnest croons about heartbreak, hang-ups and a little magic sprinkled in between. On October 8, Nicks will be releasing a new album titled 24 Karat Gold, a collection of previously unheard songs she penned as early as the sixties, then stashed. Recently, Nicks dug up the tracks and spent three weeks in a studio in Nashville, recording the songs that now make up the deeply personal collection.

Below you can check out an exclusive premiere of “Hard Advice,” a single from the album. In the accompanying video, Nicks explains how she wrote the song for her dear friend Tom Petty, based on a tough conversation the pair had many years ago. But the hard advice came from a place of love, and it inspired Nicks to write a rollicking folk-stomp number you can listen to now.

The release of 24 Karat Gold complements the opening of Nicks’s Polaroid show next week at New York’s Morrison Hotel Gallery, consisting of lost self-portraits she began taking in the mid-’70s. Fleetwood Mac—meaning the classic lineup of Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie—has reunited for the first time in 18 years and will kick off their world tour tomorrow night in Chicago.
