It would have been kind of cool if the new CD could have used her vocals from the early demos and just recorded the music. I was just listening to some of those early demos and was once again reminded why I got into that voice so many years ago. I do like how her voice has matured/ changed ( whatever) over the years but OMG! Those Rumours releases of her duetting on NGBA and the Oh Daddy outtake makes me go into my own " Vault" which I do have of these early years. I think it could have worked considering she's not going to tour to support this release. I'm still excited about this release but.........

It's still a prospect that she will eventually tour solo for the album. It's just that Christine popped back into Fleetwood Mac and a tour was booked. No one saw that coming! Though Stevie had other plans in progress, she's been a good sport for agreeing to go on tour with them. Ultimately, I think the cross promotion between the upcoming release of her album and the upcoming band tour will be mutually beneficial.
Yes, Stevie's voice had quite the range when she was thirty years younger. We have the demos to listen to and enjoy. She still has a distinct seasoned and powerful voice now that compensates for the loss of range. I'm happy she recorded the songs with her current voice--a more genuine approach.

I always thought it would be a very cool idea if Stevie did a "duet" with an old demo, but as others have pointed out to me, she probably doesn't want to highlight how much her voice has changed.

![]() Or a younger Stevie starts out in the song, then they both harmonize in the middle and it ends with older Stevie singing the rest. It would be like coming full circle. Has any other artist done that before? I don't remember. If not, then Stevie could be the first (or the first female artist) to do it. |

I think these are all dreadful ideas.

I don't know of any arbitrary rule that artists are beholden to exactly replicating their studio recordings on stage, otherwise they can't be performed. Big Love, anyone? In the Rumours era 1975-1982 Fleetwood Mac they didn't tour with a band of support players - guitarists, keyboard players, synths, percussionists, backup vocalists. Without all of the fussy vocal overdubs and heavily layered instruments, the songs took on a slightly more earthy tone and assertive manner. This was what at a real rock show was all about, flaws and all As a burgeoning fan in the late seventies, having little knowledge of any live shows, I became fascinated to hear how they reinvented their songs on stage. I began trading cassette bootlegs with fans through snail mail (ancient cave man times). It was exciting to hear how the songs translated live. I never compared them to the studio versions, because they are two separate worlds.

Ditto! And separately, I've been pleasantly surprised to enjoy many of what we've heard of the new recordings far more than the demos.
Regardless, I wouldn't have minded a bonus CD with mastered versions of the original demos, but beggars can't be choosers! |

YES! Perhaps it's time for a TITN set, with Seven Wonder, Everywhere, and Isn't It Midnight as well.
