This is incredible, thank you so much! I really love these demos, especially Mabel Normand. Has anyone ever heard anything about it? I have some theories about its' origins, but I have no clue really what it's about.

You are very welcome! Mabel Normand is about the American silent film comedienne and actress Mabel Normand. Mabel Normand Lyrics

I guess Stevie was a fan of her

I think at one point in the late 70's or early 80's, Stevie bought a house in Hollywood that once belonged to Mabel.

Thanks so much. Such an epic, comprehensive collection.

Mabel Normand was a silent screen actress.

Okay, so here's my official spiel on Mabel Normand: So Stevie had to have written this in 1984, while she was dating Joe Walsh. Mabel Normand was a silent film star, the first comedienne, woman director, and launched Charlie Chaplin's film career. In the early 1920's, she was heavily addicted to cocaine (Hmm) and found much unhappiness in her life. Her story really is very sad, ending with her untimely death from tuberculosis in 1930, mostly brought on from weakness she sustained with her fast-living lifestyle. I think Stevie saw this, and recognized it. The actual verses talk about losing her a love. She says, "and then I called you Beloved Exile." Beloved Exile is a book about King Arthur, or more specifically, the death of King Arthur, leaving behind Queen Guinevere to live alone. I remember in an interview she gave in the 90's I believe, saying that both her and Joe would have died if they had not broken up, because of their lifestyles. "So my friend is continuing on a destructive road, his life passes before him, unfortunate circumstances."
I think she compares herself to "Poor Mabel Normand" and Joe to King Arthur. I'm sorry this is so long, but I have been waiting to put this out for a while, because I think this is a really important yet underrated song that really gets to Stevie's heart.

Thanks so much! I've never really appreciated Mabel Normand (the demo) until recently, and I wonder if it could be a track Stevie will record some day.

I've really wanted her to record it too. You never know, she might just throw it in
