Default Favorite Title Track

What is everyone's favorite title track from a Stevie Nicks album?

Why is it your favorite?

Which one is your least favorite?

Why is it your least favorite?

Which ones fell short?

Which ones should've been singles?

Discuss.

I find it very interesting that some of her title tracks never ended up as radio singles. A lot of them are pretty darn good. Like "Trouble In Shangri-La" which was discussed in another thread ~ why not that track instead of "Every Day"?

I had a hard time with this one. It was a tie between "TISL" and "Wild Heart" for me. I ended up voting for "The Wild Heart". It was my first Stevie concert and still, to this day, gets me going in the morning! It's a great "driving song" and "cardio" song for the treadmill. Plus her vocal, as raspy as it was starting to become, was so ON POINT! So in your face! This plus the lyrics made a great title track and really set the mood for the rest of the record! In her own words, "It's very Natalie Wood/James Dean! Bella Donna is WILDER!"

"Blame it on the angels..."

Can't leave without mentioning "Bella" and "Rock A Little" ~ Two more title tracks I also adore. I especially love the extended version of RAL with the "Hit the stage...dancing, I know Lily" line at the end complete with the weird key change and bridge that only lasts a few bars before going back into the chorus and ending.

"Street Angel" = yawn!

"In Your Dreams" ~ very upbeat. Very Heartbreakers-esque. The sentiment is cute and it's a fun song to jam to...but it's probably her least serious title track. I'm surprised she named an album after a song that is basically fluff. Lyrically, it's sweet, and I'm sure she takes it seriously. I just can't, for some reason. I kind of wish IYD would have been titled something else. I don't think any of the other titles in this collection merit the role of title track either. She should have gone with a song lyric, a la "Other Side Of The Mirror" with this album, IMO.

What are your opinions?

Trouble In Shangri La, because it's epic and sweeping.

Least favorite would be Bella Donna, because it's just not as grand or accessible as the others, but is still an excellent track.

All but Bella Donna, and Rock A Little should have been singles.

What a fantastic collection of songs! I'd never really thought about them as a group before. It's almost impossible to pick a favorite among these. I can pick a least favorite, though. That would go to Wild Heart. The first half of the song is fantastic- such fat, juicy vocals from Stevie. However, the song just goes to pot at the end... Stevie screaming incoherently about enchanted children and all that. It's just dreadful... even more egregious to me than the infamous Jane. I guess if I had to pick a favorite amongst these, it would be Rock A Little. It's not the best song by any means... but I adore it. It has such a thick, hazy, druggy, atmosphere. I can't hear the song to this day without picturing Stevie in a dark candle lit room doing blow off from a mirrored coffee table. The chorus is such an unexpected musical turn, and the way it bleeds back into the verses is just so fluid & genius.

If Rock A Little is ever remastered and expanded, I hope the full version of the title track is included.

Besides In Your Dreams, they are all epic and have a mystical/hypnotic feel to them. That is her trade mark. I voted wild heart because it is a journey from start to finish. It's my favorite. It's hard to rank the others. Maybe TISL as 2nd? In Your Dreams is fun, upbeat, and yes tom petty sounding. Completey different feel to it then the others. Unless Enchanted counts.

Oooooo. Ouch, Louie. LOL I understand what you mean, though, about the fat, juicy vocals leading into the screaming...except that happens to be my favorite part, next to the very end, "Wiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllld hearttttttttt.."

Great pick! I love this one as well! You're right, she really paints a great picture, lyrically, with this track. Add to the dark room with the lines of coke a picture of her looking at herself in a huge cheval mirror doing pirouettes and singing along to the track on her cassette recorder.

I concur, wholeheartedly! I can only listen to this version. The album version just fades and makes you crave the rest of the track. I wonder why it was decided to severely edit this track? Length of vinyl time, perhaps? Same problem as "Silver Springs"? Still, I would have kept it and axed something else.

Should poor little "Alice" get an honourable mention. After all, she is going back... to the other side of the mirror...

This is so hard to choose. I would equally choose Bella Donna...Rock a Little. . TISL...and IYD.

I absolutely love this version of RAL. I never really appreciated the song until I heard the extended version.

A little tough, but it's got to be either 'Bella Donna' or 'Rock A Little (Go Ahead Lily)'.

The former is a grand introduction to Stevie's best album, the best Fleetwood Mac solo album, and one of those rare albums that I consider to be just about perfect.

The latter is a hazy, crazy, mystical light show of Stevie's inner dialogue with herself. Go ahead Lily, hit the stage, dancin'. It's a mesmerizing trip every time I hear it.

I CANNOT CHOOOSE GAAAAAAAAH!!

Honestly, it's a toss between Rock a Little and In Your Dreams (in terms of SONG ... not being the title of an album)
though Bella Donna is a stand out because it's her first solo record

**What is everyone's favorite title track from a Stevie Nicks album?

it's a tie. seriously. Street Angel and RAL
i vote RAL ... though average joe has probably never heard of the song or even knows there is a record by that name
Obviously Street Angel is my favorite Stevie song
BUT i realize that is it not her most brilliant song ...lyrically and vocally
but it's special to me

**Why is it your favorite?

dunno. i just like it. and i think the tour was marvellous and it reflects a time when stevie was right up there drugs and all.

**Which one is your least favorite? // Why is it your least favorite?

Wild Heart. not really a fan of the album or the song. Probably the album I listen to the least. I don't dislike it, I just don't love it the way I do the others.

**Which ones fell short?

In Your Dreams. I love the song but i think it's a dumb play on words and not a good album title. i like that she keeps the "dreams" theme going but it doesn't need to be an album title. it could have been called Lady From the Mountain ... and that would have been really special <3

Which ones should've been singles?

** Street Angel and RAL lol
