It has been a while since I last posted on here, or, actually looked for some relevant information, but has the "Ledge" lost it's niche/ability for insight-fullness, ??
just asking. be kind, no long-winded passive/aggressive comments required, thanks, g. ![]() |

Insightfulness with regards to what? Fleetwood Mac as a whole? Maybe you meant to say the forum has lost it relevance, not it's ability to understand the band. I suppose there's always an argument for something like that. On the other side of that - is the band itself even relevant anymore?

do you mean most real information appears on Facebook and Twitter before here and there is too much what's your favorite / this vs that and old questions about Stevie then I'd have to say yes

I think the demographic has changed over the years. Much younger crowd.

Since Fleetwood Mac has been around so long, it's not always easy to come up with new topics/insights. Also, I think as new fans discover Fleetwood Mac, they don't know all the backstories and info that those of us who have been fans for years have already heard. It's all new to them. As more new fans join The Ledge, they may not realize that a certain topic has been talked about Over and Over.

if you want straight and up to date news, hot of the press, @nickslive's Fleetwood Mac News and Reviews is generally much more helpful. but there are some times when someone on TL will have the news first, and they post it here. in those cases TL has not lost it's edge completely and it's worth checking, along with twitter, FB, and nickslive, when you need an update, fast. if you want hot news happening right now, twitter and FB will give you that info much faster, but it gets lost after a while.... that's why i like to post that same stuff here too, so it's available and archived later, and easily searchable. Nickslive has that too. if you want to have specific discussions with bunch of people who think almost exactly the same as you, FB would probably work much better for you... this is a public board, and what you say will be publicly available... plus there are enough people here who will say what they think without trying to conform to some preconceived fan-of-so-and-so opinion and if you can't stand that, then again, closed FB group is probably a much better place for you. so from what i can see, i think The Ledge used to have more relevance before there was twitter, FB, and Nickslive... but it still has it's place in the world of FM news and fandom.

I think as far as "chit chat" fun, and camaraderie go, I think Facebook has taken the Ledge's ~once upon a time~ hold on us.
I'm still here daily, but the group of us that was here 5 years ago, only sporadically visit here anymore. I know this because we are in touch on FB. To be honest, mods tried to squash the "clique-y" groups of friends. Finally, we just started other groups. And hey, this is a private board, so they can do whatever they want, but yeah, the events that happened 5 or so years ago, ran more than a few off...Carte blanche given to a m***n, became the writing on the wall. JMHO.

For those who say the Ledge has lost its (L)edge I say.... be online the first night of a new tour and you'll see what happens! ![]() I t know what you mean though and I think it has more to do with that band really not doing much in terms of new material or publicity at ALL. A big tour announcement and one set of interviews where they re-state everything we've heard before - not great. The Ledge will be great again once we get some stuff to discuss.

I haven't been on here long, but I don't think so. Look at all posts about Stevie's Masterclass episode.

There's no doubt in some ways the Ledge has become outmoded as a source of news... Nickslive, Twitter, and Facebook are where the most instantaneous dissemination of information occurs these days. But as far as discussion of Mac news, the Ledge pretty much has that market cornered, as all the other major message boards have disappeared in the past few years. As far as the board being less active, the only ones we can blame are Fleetwood Mac themselves. It's been a full decade since their last studio album... it's amazing we have anything left to discuss.
