Smile Gypsy @ The Right Time

Stevie fans are the only people I know who will get this.

So, I have a short story being published in a book coming out on the 9th of October. Promotional materials haven't come out yet, except for a mock-up that I received in an email. The book is like a kick-ass version of Chicken Soup.

Anyway, I was thinking of ways to start the self-promotion, especially since I'm seeing Stevie on Monday night. I shrunk down the mock-up of the book and thought I could make bookmarks, or postcards.

Thinking, thinking, thinking and then, as I was standing at the kitchen sink snipping some flowers I thought, "some lace and paper flowers."

That's it! I'll get some small, clear plastic bags and fill them with tiny paper flowers and tie it with lace and I'll attach the little book! I'll drop it off at the 107.3 The Eagle booth and ask them to give them away. "Stop by and pick up some lace and paper flowers."

So, I gather up what I need at the craft store and I'm at the check-out. The woman asks, "what are you making?" and I tell her the whole story. She wishes me luck and off I go . . . I get in the car, my mind is racing, I turn on the radio and I CANNOT BELIEVE MY EARS. Stevie is singing, "lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice."

I nearly cried! LOL!

I still cannot believe it.

Right when you were buying the items! That is goose bump time.

Last year, I remember entering a room to sign a contract and the end of Gypsy was playing, the guitar solo, and I remember thinking that was a good omen. Not everything ended up turning out as I'd hoped on that deal and I have thought back on that many times. It did feel like a sign though.

I was listening to a promo for Two Broke Girls on the radio and one girl was saying to the other that they were NOT going to have a mattress on the floor. "We're poor, not crackheads." That made me laugh, because it's such a contrast from the romantic imagery surrounding Stevie's mattress on the floor.

Well, almost.

I was in line telling the woman about "some lace and paper flowers" then

I can relate to

I have since run out of steam, time, and motivation to see my paper flower project through. If only I'd had more time dammit. Just another Manic 'Sunday' lol.

That's too cool! I love the idea, I have little lacey doily flower things hanging from my ceiling because of that line.

And about the radio, the same thing happened to me the other day! I was driving my mom home from a doc appointment and she was saying something about how glad she is that I've had Stevie as such a positive influence in my life, and as she's rambling on about this, I put on the radio... I swear Edge was on and she was like "THIS IS A SIGN" And sure enough, they then play Stand Back and Leather & Lace. Apparently 102.9 likes to play 3 songs in a row by one artist everyday, and that day they happened to choose Stevie. It was a totally weird coincidence that it was in the middle of my mom's Stevie rant though. I was kinda freaked out. lol

I know that "freaked out" feeling!

I just wish I had thought about connecting the Stevie concert
with the book promoting stuff sooner. I just don't have the time
to pull it off.
