Default JOHN DENVER Fans? anyone?>

Hello

I just saw JD's BTM, good stuff. Ive always said his music and even his humanatarian (mis spelled) efforts have gone so under the radar, his music, there is a lot of good stuff in there, and he was the first person that I know of, that really tried to make a difeerence, and with no cameras there to catch it all, like Angelina Jolie and all those people who "do good" and yet there is always a camera there. John did it because he wanted to make a difference

IMO, he is extremely under rated and its a shame he died so young

I have the Wild Life Concert from 1995 on DVD, and its a great show

Thoughts?

I love John Denver. Some of my favorite songs are Denver tunes: Take Me Home, Rocky Mountain High, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Annie's Song, Poems Prayers & Promises, Starwood In Aspen, Sweet Surrender, The Eagle & the Hawk.

He was a great lyricist.

When I was a child I was obsessed with him. I drew my interpretation of the Rocky Mountains constantly because of his songs and during my 2nd grade class the teacher would give us "free" time and she would let us choose an album to play for the class. She usually let me choose because I always picked John Denver. I'm pretty sure it was the Rocky Mountain High album because I dearly loved the song, For Baby. He was my first musical crush, I guess.

I LOVE John Denver. The first song I learned to both sing and play on guitar was Leaving on a Jetplane. I think I was like 7. My mother and my grandma are both Denver fans and my mom had a John Denver Greatist Hits songbook laying around. I'll never forget that.

Sunshine on my Shoulders, Poems, Prayers, & Promises, Annie's Song, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Fly Away...

John's voice is simply beautiful, to me. It's purity and sincerity is so soothing.

I love his music and I miss him.I have to give him credit for making me get into country music along with Olivia Newton-John.Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris..

I love the duet he did with Olivia in 1975 "Fly Away"

Heres a old video with members of the Starland Vocal Band. Bill Danoff
and Taffy Nivert before they were superstars with "Afternoon Delight"

Take me home,country roads

Heres some more of John's great hits.

Though he was considered dweebie when I was a teen in the 1970's I always enjoyed his radio songs. Just yesterday I heard that song where he mentions West Virginia and thought I needed to DL that into my oldies collection.

I like John Denver and was lucky enough to see him two
or three times in the late 70's and early 80's. His concerts
were very good.

During his lifetime I had four of his albums:
Greatest Hits
Back Home Again
An Evening With John Denver
Autograph

I added a few more compilations after his
untimely death.

Every time I pull out my 12-string guitar I wind up
playing some of his music.

Default I live about...

20 miles from a town (Colony, Oklahoma) which has many members of his family (Deutschendorf).

My Mother was a big fan of John's.

Yup, I love a lot of his songs. He could really get emotions across in songs.

I even like one he didn't write.

"well, life on the farm is kind of laid back, ain't nothing that a country boy like me can't hack, early to rise, early in the sack...."

What a coincidence. I just saw last night The John Denver Story and I found this thread today. I'm not a fan but after watching that tv movie I recalled some of his songs. And I remember I loved Oh God when I watched that movie in the late 70s.
