Default Rest In Peace Levon Helm

Lead singer and drummer for The Band. Great music; great band.

One of my fav singer/drummers ever. I was pretty devastated. I had a Band marathon. Seriously that group made some of my favorite albums ever. So RIP Levon. Thanks for the music.

I had the pleasure of mixing monitors for Levon,.....gosh, probably 8 years ago, and I can only say that he was the sweetest, kindest, most gracious man I've ever met. You couldn't have imagined anyone being nicer.

Funny story, he had the sniffles that day, and had a box of Kleenex on his drum riser. Well, they left the box of tissues, and I took them, and had them on the back seat of my SUV, for years! Anytime anyone would ask for a tissue, I'd always tell them that they were using Levon's tissues. True story!(yeah, I'm a dork)

Sad about this. My brother is a huge fan of Levon and I actually saw him play at a farmstand in New York not too long ago. Such an amazing musician and really paved the way for a lot of people. I've gone to two concerts since his death, both of younger bands in their 20s and 30s, and they each did a lengthy tribute to Levon in their sets, thanks to his influence. Pretty awesome.
