MIM Celebrates 100 Years of Arizona Music
See Nicks, Sparks, Cooper memorabilia

PHOENIX - Arizona turned 100 this week and you may be tempted to sing happy birthday, but the music most appropriate for our centennial is at the Musical Instrument Museum.

The legendary Stevie Nicks, from her days with Fleetwood Mac to her hugely successful solo career, the MIM in Phoenix includes her in their look back at 100 years in Arizona music.

The finishing touches going into the exhibit that opens Saturday include American Indian music stretching back before statehood to Waylon Jennings, even a rare Duane Eddy guitar made here in Arizona.

No look back is complete without including Alice Cooper's career, a legend who still puts on concerts, along with Glen Campbell, whose songs epitomize Arizona, to American Idol winner Jordin Sparks of Glendale.

And for the rock 'n rollers, the Gin Blossoms have their own exhibit.

So with all this music, doesn't it get noisy? The museum's curator says no.

"Guests are given a wireless set of headphones..when they approach the exhibit, they start to hear the audio that corresponds..the video on the screen, so people can have a rich self guided experience."
