Default Rock & Roll Hall of Hame Nominations

Guns N' Roses, Joan Jett, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, and the Cure all nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
by Clark Collis

Yes, folks, it’s that time of the year again. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has released its nominations for the class of 2012 and the list is as follows: Guns N’ Roses, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Cure, Heart, Eric B. and Rakim, the Small Faces/Faces, Rufus with Chaka Khan, War, Laura Nyro, Donovan, Freddy King, and the Spinners. Those who receive enough votes will be inducted on April 14, 2012, at the Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

As always with the list of nominees, several questions immediately spring to mind. Will this be the year for the Beasties and the Chili Peppers, both of whom have been nominated before (as have Nyro, War, and Donovan)? Has the Hall of Fame done enough — or too much — to highlight the creative contributions of hip-hop to “rock and roll”? And will the classic, ’80s-era lineup of Guns N’ Roses reunite to play, call each other names, or compare rehab facilities?

Go here to vote and preferably for Heart -ha ha!!

I hope GnR can find it in their hearts to play a couple of songs together.

Who picks these people? When is Stevie going to get her due?!

I'm okay with some of these bands, but the RHCP? Really? Are they running out of bands to nominate or are they just trying to get a younger audience? And they've got more votes than anyone else! That makes me feel old and I'm not even 30 yet!

I was a big fan of The Cure in my lonely emo girl days but even I don't think they're quite to a point where they should be nominated.

Cleveland pride...wooo....wooo...

It seems like the same crew of voters work for the Rollingstone mag when they do their polling.

What kills me is how rap,hip hop, country, dance and r&b artist get voted in.

Rock and Roll hall a fame should be for rock and roll only.

Its like Kid Rock getting into the country music hall a fame in Nashville.

Default Divas

Just like the NFL Hall of Fame logjam at wide receiver the R@R Hall of Fame has a logjam of female artists. If Heart and Joan Jett get in,hopefully Stevie will soon follow.

Default R&R Hall of Fame

I'm really pulling for Heart! About time they got their due.

Like the Spinners too, although "rock" doesn't really describe their music. But they deserve a place in popular music history.

When are the Moody Blues going to get a nod? They certainly deserve it. And Stevie as a solo artist as well.
