Default Chart Question

Is Stevie the only solo female artist in history to have more than one number one song on Billboard's Hot Mainstrem Rock Tracks Chart? I was browsing Wikipedia and it seems she's the only one. Pat Benatar and Joan Jett only have one apiece. Stevie's number one's were Talk To Me and Rooms On Fire.

Did u look at Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisett, and Melissa Ethridge.

I know Stevie was the only female in the 80s to have a number ! with a group and solo.

Here's the list of artists:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...eam_Rock_chart

The list looks pretty complete to me. The only solo females they have listed as having number ones are:

Pat Benatar
Joan Jett
Christine McVie
Alannah Myles
Stevie Nicks

Somebody needs to put up Stevie's list of achievements somewhere just to show what she did accomplish.

I mean from 1979 to 1989 she worked her ass off: 4 solo albums, 4 albums with mac, including the greatest hits, some soundtracks, a bunch of tours. She achieved a lot. What she did was unheard off. I don't know of any artist that was a part of as many projects in such a short period of time as her.

Exactly. All of that with her personal issues on top of it. Cocaine, Klonopin addictions, etc.

In addition to her #1's on Billboard's Hot Mainstrem Rock Tracks Chart, Stevie also charted a slew on that charts top 10 that were singles & non-single deep cuts played on Album Oriented Rock FM radio like "Enchanted" in 83', "No Spoken Word" in 85' & "Long Way To Go" spring of 89'.

I also find it interesting that while she and Christine both had # 1's on the Rock chart, Fleetwood Mac never did.

? What about Dreams? Stevie loves to go on about how it's the only #1 FM ever had.

Yeah, in the SF Bay Area back in '83, either KRQR or KFOG played "Nothing Ever Changes" frequently.

Yup! I sure miss those days when Stevie was all over the radio - Top 40 stations AM & FM and AOR stations. Same thing happened here in the Denver/Boulder area - KBPI or KBCO played the song "Bella Donna" all the way up til' 85-ish, during Wild Heart I regularly heard "Enchanted" & "Nothing Ever Changes" on the AOR stations. During RAL it was "No Spoken Word" at the same time they were playing TTM on the Top 40 stations. And both "Violet & Blue" and "Battle Of The Dragon" were spinned quite frequently in 84' & 86' respectively. And finally during OSOTM, while ROF was getting top 40, AC & AOR spins, "Long Way To Go" was getting plenty attention on AOR stations as well. As the 80's ended, so did a long fantastic radio era for Stevie.

That was #1 on the Billboard Top 40 pop charts for sure. I'm not sure if Billboard tracked or had yet created the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart back in 77' I was only 8 yrs old when Rumours was released. But I do remember hearing "The Chain", Gold Dust Woman" & "Silver Springs (B-side) along with the singles on FM AOR radio all the time.

Wow I'm very surprised to see Christine is one of the 5 women who achieved #1. I admit I never listened to any of her solo stuff but I was always under the assumption she didn't have much success as a solo artist. Good for her though! The FM girls dominate!

#1 Adult Contemporary, but Christine did say she always wanted a number #1 single like Dreams and that that's the only accomplishment that eluded her.

For the Dance, we should have had Go Insane, Stand Back and Got A Hold On Me all performed.

I'd love to hear FM on Got a Hold On Me.

I agree with that. I always thought, even if just for the tour set list, how cool it would be be if, in themiddle of the show, Stevie, Lindsey and Chris would each showcase a solo song.

Lindsey:
Go Insane or Trouble (either with a full band ) -- the future fortold of many acoustic versions of both.

Christine:
Definately Got a Hold On Me - it was a big hit. But a few other songs on her solo album are so Mac-nified, such as Love Will Show Us How. Or perhaps duet with Lindsey on One In A Million.

Stevie:
Although Stand Back is the obvious one; it was already in the set lists of the last two tours with the Rick & Billy band. But I see that song more in Stevieland style, and somewhat ill-fitted for the Fleetwood Mac vibe: it crossed the line between church and state for me. Maybe Leather and Lace with Lindsey!

There is a song on Christine McVie's album called the Challenge, love that song. Definitely a fleetwood Mac tune

The Challenge! I like that song, Wow I haven't thought of that in ages I'm going to go listen to it right now. I agree that would've been wonderful to hear all of fleetwood mac do that.
