Default Sound+Vision October Issue

This interview is not (yet) available on line. I was able to read it at Nickslive.blogspot with an iPad, but only the cover and first page of the article are visible on my Windows PC. I found the article fascinating as the interviewer (Mike Mettler, editor of the magazine) was very familiar with LB's recording methods. He has interviewed LB numerous times in the past (including October 1992 after OOTC was released, which he refers back to several times). A couple of tidbits from the article:

Mr. Mettler talks about the GOS vinyl and suggests that would be a good thing for "Mindkit" to do (with LB laughing as he is now the "record label" executive in charge of those decisions). Mr. Mettler presses the issue again and LB states that he would definitely look into it (releasing SWS on vinyl).

"Illumination" started out as a 45 second end of a TV show music that was rejected (no mention of what TV show it would have been for). LB later re-visited it and expanded it into a full song.

^I've often wondered if he ever contributed any instrumentals to tv shows. I've heard little intros and outros that made me think of his style. I guess he's not credited for that stuff. I bet he's not credited for a lot of session work either.

Default Peacekeeper

Peacekeeper was used a few years back for the close of a police/firefighter drama (music over the end credits - don't remember the name of the show).

I am glad someone asked about a vinyl release. Hopefully he follows through, as many people would appreciate it.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

^Yeah, I should have specified by instrumental I meant instrumental runs that aren't already commercially available songs released on albums. I'm talking about the background music that plays over say the people trying to buy a home on HGTV or when Ina's cooking on Food Network...

I wonder what the additional cost of releasing it on vinyl would be. You know Amazon has this "made to order" thing you can do for books. I'm not sure you can do it for music as well. They will print up a book after you order it. They also will do it for videos too.

So, let's say you want a copy of some 1960s tv show and there's not enough of a demand for it that they keep them on stock. They will make you a video when you order it. I wish they could do that with an LP. It might cost a little more, but it would be worth it. In truth, I never open my LPs anymore, so I can't say I want them for the sound quality. I want them for collection purposes.

I just read a Hollywood Reporter article on Streisand and they said she was negotiating to renew her 50 year contract with Sony and she wanted $20 million for 1 new record and 3 reissues of her old music. They said with no radio play and no touring, her album would still sell at least 500,000. But they cost $1 million to produce. Sony was wondering if she was still worth the investment. It made me think of Fleetwood Mac and Warner's.

As for Will, he's hormonal all right. Keep him away from the Buckingham Nicks album cover. Unfortunate things could happen.
