Default Sable on Blond demos?

Is it just me, or is it hard to find demos for Sable on Blond? It's not on this site, for example, and I've heard a total of two demos.

One of them - it's a bit more rocking than the album version - is on YouTube. I really like it, but it's only a clip (please tell me there's a full version somewhere ). Here's the other demo. The quality isn't great and the drums appear to be out of sync.

So are there any more Sable on Blond demos or is it just one of those songs that doesn't have 400 piano demos?

Oh wow, I freaking love her vocal on that first version of the song. I don't know if there are any other Sable on Blonde demos out there, but, I really hope there are. Especially after hearing that!

I think in general TWH is the album with the least amount of demos. I'm probably wrong though.

I agree. It also seems like the Wild Heart demos are really muffled and the sound quality just sucks.

In the same vein, what about Enchanted? I Will Run to You? I can't say I've ever heard any demos for those songs. Surely they must be out there

That's the video I made!!! This is the only demo I know of and I've been looking for years cause this is my second favorite song of Stevie's next to 'Sara"..... I actually think the demos are the same, just the one in the video I made is a little better quality than the other you posted..I agree,, I love the Wild Heart album but have been disappointed more demos aren't floating around..

There's only the one, in varying quality. Same vocal, exactly the same.

Well that's utterly depressing.

Yes, it is. The Wild Heart has the least outtakes and demos in fans' hands of all of Stevie' eras.

Let's see: There are abysmal sounding extended-length album versions of:

"Wild Heart"
"Nightbird"

Incredibly COOL extra ending vocals, but the sound is atrocious.

Then there are the (also abysmal-sounding) "early mixes" of "Stand Back", but nothing extra vocal-wise (that happened in 2007 with the Crystal Visions "Stand Back" remixes utilizing un-used vocals from 1983).

That leaves us with for outtakes (not the ones on albums or soundtracks) and demos:

"Destiny" - Full-length 6-minutes and 4-minute edit.
"All The Beautiful Worlds"
"Dial The Number" - 2 takes from 1982.
"Sable On Blond"
"If Anyone Falls"
"Julia"
"Nothing Ever Changes"
"Violet And Blue"
"One More Tomorrow"
"Beauty And The Beast" - 2 Takes/Demos from The Wild Heart (discounting the 1978 piano demos and Tusk version).

All of the above are pretty great sound-wise, some better than others, but most very listenable. But not a lot. And since the release of the Rock A Little work tapes, The Wild Heart looks even more skimpy.

Sounds interesting, could you post it? "Wild Heart" has always been, for me, the absolute best Stevie vocal.

I just heard this song about 2 weeks ago and am absolutely in love.Having only heard the epic album version I would love to hear how the song evolved. Is there any way I could find the tusk versions and demos that you speak of? Are they available for download?

Do you have the lyrics for "Wild Heart"? The extended vocals are those extras lyrics at the end, where Stevie is going on and on:

"Even in the back!
Even in the back!!!
Baby, baby, baby..."

And so forth, just incredible!!!! If only Enchanted had included this full end version (and "Nightbird", which also has the extra lyrics as seen on the lyrics sheet.).

"Beauty And The Beast" - Evolution goes:

1978 Piano demo session, about 23 minutes long, usually broken up into 3 parts. Stevie describes seeing the French movie and constructs the song on piano. Tom Montcrieff is there with her (not Tom Petty).

1978-1979 - A fully-produced version of "Beauty And The Beast" is on a completed Master Reel of Stevie's Tusk songs, including her 5 on the album, and "The Dealer".

Circa 1982 - Two different takes with piano and synthesizers that sound like orchestral instruments, sounding closer to the album version on The Wild Heart. One version has a male voice talking French at the end.

That's where I put it, too!

I also put "Garbo" in between "Nightbird" and "Stand Back".

I'll post the above stuff tomorrow if no one else does by then.

Thanks for those links! I just listened to Sable on Blond and it sounds a lot better than the one I had.

So I wonder happened to the Wild Heart outtakes and demos. Is somebody hoarding them or were they thrown out?
