Let's put it this way most venues "tolerate" cameras only a few have actually allowed cameras-that was at a Bon Jovi concert I went to a few years back as long as it wasn't a prof camera.

I there is a Pit-only the Pit gets to go to the stage no matter what venue you are at. If there is no Pit it doesn't matter where you are sitting but the further back you are the harder it is to get a spot at the stage.

Get to know the set list before the show because the song that always brings people to the stage is Go Your Own Way.

Lightbulb I posted this in another thread, but forgot which one...

ALWAYS take your camera no matter what. These days, with cameras on every single cell phone, there's no way they can keep up, so I think as long as you don't have some huge professional camera with detachable lenses, it should be okay.

That said, some of the venues' security are INSANE. Some take their job WAY too seriously regarding cameras.

Ask the security people before the show starts regarding going to the stage. Some places allow you to go plant yourself and others say no and then of course, when GYOW starts (sometimes ISA!), people rush up there. It just depends. Feel out the situation, security and crowd and make a decision that way, I'd say.

The BIG thing about the cameras is the flash. Flashes are definitely a "no".

On one of my tickets it is printed right on it NO FLASH PHOTO. So I guess cameras are allowed but you just are forbidden to use flash. Sounds good to me.

If they supply exceeds the demand a couple days before the concert they start cutting prices. I've even bought them as late as 5:00 p.m. the day of for face value. But to do that you have to live near the venue.

A funny thing happened a couple of years ago here in SoCal for a Jackson Browne show in Lancaster. The venue was about an hour north of Los Angeles in a converted Fox Theater. Scalpers got all the Pit seats-period. I ended up buying one at the last minute, close to face, in the second row but was able to move to the first row since there was only ten people if that-in that row. The ticketing agency was based in New York.

Anyway, one of the ushers, a woman about my age (62 yrs) whom I struck up a conversation with wondered why there were so many empty seats in the Pit. She said a lot of people in the Orchestra were unhappy and thought it unfair there were so many empty seats in the Pit that they didn't have access to. The venue would not let them move down.

The concert was amazing. It was a solo acoustical and he played one of the longest concerts he's ever played-three hours. The place was in the middle of the sticks though and I was petrified driving home because my GPS took me down a dark desert two lane black-top for most of the two hour drive home.
