I was going for a walk yesterday, blasting IYD and i glance to my left and there, sitting in a car, is this CUTIE!!! well the way he was sitting there, i thought he was waiting for someone in one of the stores, sooooooooo i just kept it moving.
well, a few minutes later, i glance back and i see the same car driving up. the car past me and sat at the light, totally blocking traffic and the window rolls down. Wide Sargasso Sea starts to play. i look in the car and he said hi! talk about a beautiful smile. i actually blushed! i haven't blushed in a looooooooooooooooong time! well we exchanged numbers and he's on his way to take me out for a bit. i say all this to say..... there's been many times in my ADULT life where listening, humming, singing or just dancing to Stevie, something has happened to me. her music has made me think about making SERIOUS changes in my life......all for the better. as i get ready for my mini date, i ask you........have you ever been listening to stevie and something great happens to you? |

Nicce story!!
I finally caved and just bought In Your Dreams off i-tunes. I pre-ordered it from the site but still haven't recieved it - and I really oculdn't wait any longer haha I'm listening to Wide Sargasso See right now as I was reading this. And my initial thoughts of the song were "What a sexy song". Jus the way it's arranged, and the instrumentals etc. Even some of the lyrics. And then I randomly clicked on this thread and read your story. So I guess reading this was my cool Stevie moment being as this is my initial listen to WSS! Haha. I'll probably always relate it to this story now.

ahh Fumi...I love your story!! WSS is probably my favorite song on IYD!! I hope it works out for you TOTALLY!!...
. ..so, i've had those kinda experiences with Stevie too.. probably my favorite is... about 8 years ago when my mom died... i was riding to the funeral home with my oldest niece..and she pulls out a tape i had made her in 1990 of "Red Rocks" and we sang along(I couldn't believe she still had this. she was 6 when i gave it to her) and a few minutes before we got there the tape was done..and when i ejected the tape... "Landslide" came on the radio! It was the beginning of my healing from my utter devastation at losing my mom! ![]() |

What beautiful stories you guys are sharing. I always say the Universe speaks to me through Stevie's music and every time she has a new album there's always some little message within the songs. So here's mine. It's kind of long, so feel free to skip it. I just needed to write it out.
So, I've always been really involved in my local community. A few years ago I had some serious troubles and took some time off. I thought some time alone would be good, but I also found a big wedge between me and my friends (whole other story) and eventually I started feeling totally alone and that if people missed me they would try to be in touch, and since they hadn't I felt really alone. So a few years after this I decided I needed to do something, and what I found was so much support from all those I thought didn't care. It was overwhelming and I realized that nobody ever needs to feel alone or lost because sometimes you have love and support all around you but you just can't see it. Now, the downside of this is that I was so afraid of being alone again that I dove head first into the craziness that my community can be and got all overwhelmed again. So my challenge is finding a middle ground. I didn't want to leave again yet I was having trouble staying. Then In Your Dreams comes out. And that incredible song Moonlight. I've often said I burn the candle at both ends, so boom, right there I knew this was the song. "She runs with the one she can’t keep up with... He slows down, so desperate to stop her... They meet in the middle" She’s laying on the floor in silent pain... She sat in the floor for months just staring... She knows too much to walk away... She couldn’t do it anyway". To me, it pretty much sums up my life. I love the fast paced, craziness of my life. I've seen it, I've lived it. I can't walk away from it. And even though it drives me crazy sometimes, I know I wouldn't be happy any other way. And the message of the song, to me, is that you just have to keep going. You meet it in the middle, you find ways to relax and enjoy yourself in the craziness of it all but you can't totally walk away. You just keep going. And the trick is to slow down. To meet each challenge head first, but at the same time to know when to hold back. To be both Bella and Edward, to run towards the flame but know when to stop before it engulfs you. |
