Default IYD Singles

Okay if you've heard the album, pick which songs you think could be (or could have been, in better times) singles. I know, with this album that may be tough because so many of the songs are so good! But give it a shot.

If I was releasing singles from the album as Stevie's record company, I'd go with (post-"Secret Love"):

1. New Orleans
2. Moonlight
3. In Your Dreams
4. Italian Summer
5. Everybody Loves You
6. For What It's Worth

I think many other songs are excellent like "Wide Sargasso Sea", "Annabel Lee" and "Ghosts Are Gone"....I just tried to pick out ones that I thought could have been hit singles back when Nicks had hit singles.

1. In Your Dreams (should definitely have been the first release)
2. Everybody Loves You
3. For What It's Worth
4. Italian Summer
5. Moonlight

You May Be the One, New Orleans, Annabelle Lee, Cheaper than Free could all be singles, I'm sure how to do this list. It's hard when you are dealing with a GREAT album. I just know that In Your Dreams should definitely be the first single and Everybody Loves You the second single. I just know these songs would fined a home somwhere on radio.

The funny thing is I really like Secret Love but after hearing the album, I would not have released it.

I really think that "Secret Love" was a teaser single and that the record company knows full well that songs like "In Your Dreams", "Everybody Loves You" and (I would say) "New Orleans" are actually stronger singles. They're going for longevity here.

New Orleans is an interesting song to me. It's got a different vibe that I really like. Takes you to a different place. It's sort of hopeful. I keep coming back to this song as an oasis sort of.

Gah - this is so hard to pick! But I would go with...

1. For What It's Worth
2. Annabel Lee
3. Wide Sargasso Sea
4. New Orleans

I like In Your Dreams...and I can see it being a doable single...but I think these other songs (even Moonlight) would be better singles.

I think Secret Love was a good choice to reintroduce the general public to her. Plus it gave her a "story" to talk about the creation of that song to the media. I also think the video is fun. But stronger cuts for future singles would be:

1. In Your Dreams
2. For What It's Worth
3. Ghosts Are Gone

If FWIW isn't the next single, I'm seriously concerned about the state of WB.

In my opinion, this is much more of a concept album... all songs really should be listened to in context with one another. I think OSOTM was the same way... it's still a bit baffling to me that Rooms On Fire was such a hit.

That being said, I think the title track, In Your Dreams, would make a fantastic single. I'm guessing that's the only other radio single we'll get after Secret Love runs it's course.

I do wonder if we'll get some sort of club remixed single (ala Planets) this time around, though? Moonlight could definitely be a remix candidate.
