I was just on the hits daily double site and they had the numbers for TISL to date. So it really sold over 100k copies in its first week? Thats pretty amazing thinking about those numbers now.
Stevie Nicks WB 05/01/01 1st week sales of TISL 109,116 US OTC 663,474 I dont like it that Beastie Boys, Sade and Shinedown all have cd's coming out that week. She needs to pick a week that nobody has anything coming out. 4/26 would have been a better date for her. http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales..._ur.cgi?050311 Last edited by kak125; 04-11-2011 at 03:29 PM.. |

Isn't that how many copies were "shipped" to the stores as opposed to actually "sold"?

Prior to SoundScan, RIAA certifications were based on units shipped, but after SoundScan was implemented in the early 90's, point-of-sale scans were used to count units sold.

I hope she can achieve those numbers again, but 600,000 copies sold in 2001 is probably equivalent to about 150,000 copies sold in 2011. That said, if there are still as many hardcore FM/Stevie fans as there were in 2001/2003, there is a chance it might do similar numbers.
Ultimately I'm not that bothered what it sells, but if poor numbers mean no further albums, then obviously I would want 'In Your Dreams' to sell well. What kind of numbers do you all expect for 'In Your Dreams'? |

And Jennifer Lopez, too... looks like Stevie won't be getting a #1 debut this time for sure. Hopefully she'll still make the top 5, tho.

I expect first week sales to be somewhere in the 35,000-50,000 range and for the album to sell about 150,000 total if I'm feeling optimistic.

Maybe the ten year absence, and the way her demographic skews towards the older end of the market - which tend to actually buy music - might help her numbers? or maybe not!
