Default Elton John setlist

I'll be at Elton's concert in NYC in 2 weeks. I was checking the setlist he has been playing these months and it looks interesting. Lot of oldies, some of them I didn't even know. Just wanted to share it, and see what do yout think if you like his music.

2.Love Lies Bleeding
3.Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)
4.Levon
5.Madman Across the Water
6.Tiny Dancer
7.Philadelphia Freedom
8.Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
9.Daniel
10.Rocket Man
11.I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues
12.Hey Ahab
13.The Best Part Of The Day
14.Gone To Shiloh
15.Monkey Suit
16.When Love Is Dying
17.Sad Songs
18.Piano Solo/Take Me To The Pilot
19.Never Too Old (To Hold Somebody)
20.Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word
21.Candle in the Wind
22.Burn Down the Mission
23.Bennie and the Jets
24.The Bitch Is Back
25.I'm Still Standing
26.Crocodile Rock

Wow, I'll bet the diehard Elton fans are pissed off about his stale setlists the way we are pissed off about Stevie's stale setlists. I first saw Elton 21 years ago and I swear this setlist is about 90% identical to the one he played way back then. Admittedly "Funeral for a Friend"/"Love Lies Bleeding" has always been a brilliant way to open the show; it never gets old.

By the way, this cracks me up:

My favorite Elton John album is Tumbleweed Connection. I would love him to have a show playing that album straight through, but I wonder if he'd ever do something like that. I really question some of his decisions. He'll play for anyone who pays him these days. Oh well. Still love him.

I saw Elton last December with Ray Cooper. The setlist that night was just DREAMY. Lots of overlap with the one you've posted but more obscure stuff. Gone To Shiloh didn't impress me on the album but it had immense power live. Levon rocked the place -- Elton and Ray just did amazing things with it, it must have been at least ten minutes.

The biggest highlight for me, though, was Funeral For A Friend, which segued into Tonight. Love Lies Bleeding is a hell of a song but to pair FFAF with Tonight was just inspired. It was the first song with Ray and it knocked me out

Elton was wonderful, he absolutely still has it vocally and he really seemed to be enjoying himself. Enjoy the show

Not an original idea of that show. At FRIENDS, "The One With The Princess Leia Fantasy" -Episode 3.01 (1996), Phooebe sings it:

Rachel: No Way! The most romantic song ever was The Way We Were.
Phoebe: Uh, see, I... I think the one that Elton John wrote for, um, that guy on Who's The Boss.
Rachel: What song was that, Pheebs?
Phoebe (singing): Hold me close, young Tony Daaanza
