Lightbulb Ok. Back Up Singers!

There is probably a thread dedicated to Stevie's back up girls. I couldn't find it so, I'm starting this...
Due to the whole mystique of Steve...her whole allure...

I've wondered over photos...what does Sharon have...an english muffin, bagel...pumpernickel toast...Well, not really but, kind of...

I remember when Lori added Nicks to her name...I was thinking...hmmm She and Stevie????

One question...if Tusk was recorded after Rumors tour so 78-79ish...how did Sharon put her backing vocal on Sara, Cleaning Lady? You know...all is mellow...then you wait to jump cuz you know it's a comin' HEARTBEAT!!!!!!

I wonder about that song becasue Stevie has revealed several times that Sara Recor was with her all night writing that song. Then Sara does the Street Angel Tour vocals...with LizaJane...
Do you ever wonder if it's Sara Recor sounding like Sharon on the Sara demo?

Of the guest back up singers...I liked Elicia Wright. She brought that neat, reasonance voice...low register...but powerful. Example, Has Anyone Written/Red Rocks.

It's actually not Sharon singing on the "Sara" demo.

According to Tom Moncrieff on his Q&A here on The Penguin, he recorded the demo with Stevie and Annie McLoone singing.

I'm not terribly familiar with any of Stevie's back-up singers except for Sharon & Lori. And, unfortunately, that god-awful Jana Anderson. Thank heaven she's not around anymore. Did no one explain to her that background singers are supposed to stay in the background? Especially ones who sound like dying cats in heat.

Updates on some of the more "obscure" back up singers:
I was just reading about Elisecia Wright, here's her website with some recent pics http://leceiwright.colemusiq.org/
She has an interesting story and wrote a book about it:
http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/magaz...4_Lecei-Wright

And a while ago I found Carolyn Brooks' Facebook, but then I forgot it because her name was different and I couldn't find it again.

Marilyn Martin is currently a realtor: http://www.villagerealestate.com/cms...?group_id=2811

Sandy Stewart is involved with the Purple Songs Can Fly children's charity: http://www.purplesongscanfly.org/home.html and she still sings.

Whatta ya know!
Im not familiar with Annie McLoone...was she one of Tom's people?

Sanne2 thanks for the updates...you guys are cool.

Still...that Heartbeat shriek with the ooh aah's. Reminds me of Sharona..especially in the ole tours...Stand Back and Edge of 17...today, I can't desipher between the voices and I can't "which voice belongs to which girl"

I noticed album wise...and live...its like one vocalish...with a perfect pitch. I also know digital is a studio word for singing sometimes.

Finally, with Lori back...the trio rides again.

I would kill for the bootleg where Stevie yelled, "OH SHUT UP SHARON!"

This is her, lip syncing Stevie's part.

A great place to look for info about Stevie's back up singers is Nickfix. Go to the singers page. There you will have links to back up singers Sharon Celanie, Jana Anderson, Sara Fleetwood, Liza Jane, Mindy Stein, Lori Nicks, etc. Hope that helps..
