Default Sunday morning on VH1 Classic

VH1 Classic is showing Day 3 of the US Festival from 1983 at 8 a.m. on Sunday. It says Stevie is part of the show. Woo hoo!! Set your DVRs.

It's been on many times. They only show two of Stevie's songs and they are at the end of the hour.

They show all three of the songs that also aired on Showtime in August 1983:

"Outside The Rain"
"Stand Back" (first public performance)
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"

At least, they've shown all three songs when I DVRed it in 2009. Have they cut a song for more commercials?

The footage includes Jess Nicks introducing Stevie, and her "Well, I'm glad you stayed!" welcome. As we all know, for some reason, Stevie redubbed her vocals for "Stand Back" and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", although "Outside The Rain" is untouched. If only "Dreams" were on here as well, that would have been the perfect combo to document.

The video quality is outstanding, though, just beautiful!

You are correct, I forgot about "Stop Draggin". I thought the edit of "Outside The Rain" into "Stand Back" was very badly done, but other than that the clip is very good, sound and video-wise.

VH-1 Classics first aired it 07/28/2009, still on my DVR! I'm still amazed at how incredible the picture is!!! The colours are so vibrant and Stevie is incredible!

I have to say, Roy Bittan's piano on The Wild Heart tour just blows me away ~ SO much more intricate than on the Bella Donna tour or album. If only there was a FULL concert in stereo sound from 1983... "Outside The Rain", "Dreams", "Gypsy", "RHIANNON"!!!!! >sigh<

Aside from audience recordings and mono bootlegs, the only live songs from The Wild Heart era we have in great sound quality are:

"Outside The Rain" (Us Fest '83)
"Stand Back" (Us Fest '83, WW1, SNL, Solid Gold)
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (Us Fest '83)
"Beauty And The Beast" (WW1)
"Leather And Lace" (WW1)
"Nightbird" (SNL, Solid Gold)

And that's not enough!!!

Uh oh! This is the other version that aired in 2009 on Encore/Showtime/The Movie Channel. This version has 2009 interviews spliced in with Steve Jobs (Apple and Us Festival founder) and Mark Goodman (MTV VJ) "looking back" at the 1983 Us Festival. Thus, songs are chopped out. So far, Quarterflash only has "Find Another Fool" and Missing Persons only "Words". U2 is on "Sunday Bloody Sunday" right now. I don't remember how this version with the new interviews affects how many songs they air of Stevie's.

The concert-only version that aired on VH-1 Classics had many more songs.

Oh well. I forgot how good-looking the guitarist of Missing Persons was. Wowee!!!!

Well, there's the fabulous piano intro to "Rhiannon", then Jess introducing Stevie, and now "Outside The Rain" ~ still 20 minutes left in the show! Stevie's the last performer on the concert (David Bowie was the final performer, but he did not allow his footage to be aired).

Ooh! LOVE Stevie kicking up her leg at "I'm tired of trying, baaaaaabyyyyyy!"

Maybe there's time for all 3 songs! Wow, the other performers got whittled down to one song each, and Stevie keeps her three!!! Wheeeee!!!!!!

"Try and replace ME! Replace that heartache!"

And "Stand Back" begins.....

No "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", just boring Stevie Wozniak (not Jobs! Sorry!) rambling about supporting a new Us Festival in the future. Oh well.

Those two songs were fun moving around to this morning!!!

I only caught the last bit of OTR and Stand Back. Were those the only 2 songs they aired this morning? I do however have the whole show on DVD and will watch today to see what they didn't air.

Yes, those were the only two, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" was axed from this version of the Special.

Now, the unedited 1983 Us Festival... Two years ago, I got the BEST quality DVD of it! I've been upgrading over the years, since I first got a VHS copy in Late 1988. But I'm VERY happy with this one. "Outside The Rain", "Gold And Braid", "Gypsy", "Rhiannon" and "Edge of Seventeen" are my favourites.

I'm going to put my DVD in right now and see what I have.
