Default a bit of a confession....Peacekeeper

Ok, y'all know I'm dyed in the wool Fleetwood Mac fan from day 1 (or before)...I'm here to confess that I infinitely like Lindsey's own version of "Peacekeeper" more than the version on SYW. It's just slightly faster than the FMac version and seems to have a little more intenseness & power than the Mac-track.

Ya wit me, or ag'in me?

I feel bad for it, but I have to agree with you. When Lindsey performs the song off his own bat, it's clearly evident that it was his own personal baby that just ended up being Fleetwood Mac fodder.

Well, I didn't mean to imply that the SYW version is "fodder", just that Lindsey's own version has a whole lot more "ooomph" to it and sonically is more in line with the lyrical content. The "edges" just seem ground off the FMac version.

I didn't think you did. That was my own term, because I noticed that alot of Lindsey's work that he meant for solo release has ended up being pumped into the Fleetwood Mac machine. It doesn't sit very well with me, despite how much I adore the band and love the songs that would have been his own. Maybe the lack of edgyness was purposely done to make it integrate more with the rest of the album? Because it does feel a tad watered down to me. It was my gateway album and I still love it, but if you were to place it beside a monster like Rumours, it's sad but SYW would get its butt handed to it on a silver platter with a selection of crudites and dips.

The SYW version has Stevie and that makes ALL the difference. SYW Peacekeeper is superior.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Spoken like a card-carrying "Chiffonhead".

I'm so not a chiffonhead. But it does make a difference. I find the SYW version more meaningful.

I agree that it makes all the difference. I just don't agree that it's a good difference...

Of all the GOS demos I like them more without the jammed in harmonies by Stevie. (I'm not laying the blame on Stevie though. Lindsey was the producer on most of them and so he had a big say in it.)

Probably because alot of the songs are Lindsey's to begin with. I get the feeling that the rest of Fleetwood Mac just tagged along for the ride.

Yea I agree....and for the reason I stated SYW never sounded like a proper Mac album to me IMO.

Here you go Cassie:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lindsey's solo/demo version. I think it's a lot better than the SYW. Some songs I prefer with Stevie's harmonies added, but this isn't one of them! I love it when he harmonizes with himself, and this just sounds really cool with only male voices ( IMO ).
